rob: department of justice missing a major deadline by republicans to release memos of james comey detailing his meetings with donald trump. jillian: do american people have a right to know what is in these memos? thank you for joining us. what do you think? should we be able to see the memos? >> the public should definitely see these memos. we have gym comey going around on his book tour higher loyalty, make a higher loyalty to the public and public disclosure of these memos. next step should be to ask rosenstein to come to congress with the memos or explanation why not. rob: what is in these memos that is necessary for the people to see? >> it is not a question of what

i think is in the memos. it is the basis of some of the claims in comey's book with president conversations at various points and while you have gym comey going around the nation on national television talking about conversations with the president, congress and the public have a right to see the basis of gym comey's notes. they are fbi materials. >> the doj is slow with this investigation. i want to go to obama's to permit of justice, andrew mccabe has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, claimed that he leaked, it has been announced he leaked a number of things while he was deputy attorney general. the allegations coming from

comey pointing fingers at one another in those offices regarding what happened here. i want your perspective on who you think was doing the right thing if any of them were trying to do the right thing in regards to the clinton foundation case and everything that happened leading up to the election. >> there is an overhang among doj and the fbi that hillary clinton was going to win the election and no one wanted to upset her but what you see in the oig report which is very telling slipped in among the conclusions that mccabe lied. the one other key points is there was a phone call from the department of justice to mccabe that tried to impact or shutdown the independent investigations going on across the country about the clinton foundation.

think about that for a second, equal treatment under the law, don't think so. you have doj putting their finger on those investigations, they don't go far with the clinton foundation and on the other hand everybody looking for something to investigate with respect to donald trump. >> let's look at this phone call dated august 12, 2016, mccabe said a doj official expressed concern about fbi agents taking steps for the clinton investigation during the presidential campaign. he pushed back asking are you telling me i need to shut down a validly predicted investigation? what is your thought when you hear that? >> concerns me greatly and you will hopefully see some of this come out when the oig comes out with its report in may regarding

the clinton foundation but the real question is who was the person who made the call to andrew mccabe and on what authority did that person make the call to chill those investigations the fbi had undertaken not just in one city between 4 cities. rob: you have mccabe leaking information, trying to make himself look more credible as he oversaw these investigations into the clinton foundation and that the justice department loretta lynch at the helm meeting with bill clinton on the tarmac and mccabe saying that doj was asking to get rid of the valid investigation into hillary clinton, this is why this is a big deal, mccabe is holding the figure saying i'm not crooked but they are telling me to get rid of an investigation that held water and this all comes after loretta lynch meets with bill clinton on the tarmac.

jillian: how does this end? >> work up the food chain so the next step is to identify who made the phone call to mccabe and on what authority was the phone call made because it does tie together around the circumstances around the tarmac meeting that comey and mccabe are at odds whether mccabe had authority to leak information but the more important part is putting their finger on the scale to squelch these investigations over the clinton foundation, you are talking four separate independent fbi investigations and the chill was on. rob: when this started coming out people started talking about this. everyone laughed it off and now you have this information pointing fingers at each other saying it was interesting. thanks for coming on this

will see what their voters went which is what the process is all about, listen to the people and act accordingly. jillian: what is the response in your city? >> for our residents, the ones i am aware of, i would say 2:1 in favor of what we are doing. walk the dogs and neighbors stop by and give a thumbs up or something very positive. there are some that don't agree and i understand their position but this is for our city, our constituents, their safety. rob: it used to be a bipartisan effort in this country. is it bizarre to be in a state that not only is saying we don't want a wall but we don't want any protection at all at the borders the message out of california as the state has swung hard left on immigration, almost an open border policy. >> the message i got from the

donald trump is open to meeting with p but demanding a drastic change from the russian leader. jillian: a professor of foreign policy at carnegie mellon and fox news foreign policy analyst, thank you for joining us this morning. if and when the meeting happened how do you think it should go down? >> if i could give a little context, when we look at russia in the 21st-century we see a nation on the outer rim of the community of 3 states and an international system. at the end of the cold war there was great hope russia would join democracy and freedom and those nations that believe in it and strive toward it. that is not where we are now and what donald trump said as a presidential candidate and what he hopes to achieve now is to bring russia back from the brink

be the forward platform that would allow russia to compete with the us on the diplomatic front in that region. jillian: robbie talked about the sanctions put in place already and we talked about another round of sanctions was the white house walked that back. how do you think donald trump is handling russia so far? >> it is a difficult, one of the most difficult scenarios for him because in the background is the mueller investigation and all the false charges around russian collusion which have not been proven between the trump campaign and various russian operatives. all the noise on the one side but he is able to navigate and work around that by focusing on making russia pay for its malfeasance. you mentioned the 3 rounds of sanctions that have happened in the past month or so so focusing

rob: reaction to what some are calling aggressive editing on this 5 hour interview. >> producers were tapped with cutting a 5 hour interview down to just one hour. a majority of what comey said would never make primetime but a transcript of the interview shows a few key moments were left out, comey criticizes pres. obama for his comments on the hillary clinton mail scandal saying, quote, we have a problem president obama basically said there is no there there. in an interview with fox and an interview on 60 minutes both times he said that, that is his justice department. them on social media criticizing the interview, this is very distracting and makes it hard to feel we are getting the full context of his answers and ideas. bill carter chimed in saying
