and trade issue, part of that as well as commerce and a lot of slots need filling throughout the state department. the other people on the frontline, the face we present the world. >> the need for him to get started working immediately which he did. in terms of north korea let's talk about the meeting between kim jong un and south korea's leaders today, remarkable video of them shaking hands, smiling, kim jong un looked to be enjoying himself. what do you make of that? >> a couple things. both sides are incentivized to put the best face forward, the best spin on this. it is a historic occasion, first time kim jong un has been willing to cross into south korea, first-time any north korean leader has since the korean war. this is setting the stage for the eventual summit between

donald trump and kim jong un. he will be informing the us not only of what specifically was agreed upon but any side discussions and his impressions of kim jong un. patty: 1 why was it so difficult to get here? the separating line was not that high to cross, too easy to walk over that line and it took us 11 years to get here. do you truly believe there's a change happening in terms of kim jong un and north korea? >> to borrow a phrase from ronald reagan we should trust and verify. it has taken so long because in the past north korea has made various agreements it failed to live up to. the reason there is a building there is we have an armistice, not a peace treaty.
