because of the royal baby has a name. it's louis arthur child sell charles. prince louis of cambridge. it's lovely, big name for a little baby, but there you go. thanks for joining us. >> "outnumbered" starts right now. >> harris: we are awaiting possible new remarks from president trump as he welcomed german chancellor angela merkel to the white house just moments ago. this caps off a dramatic week of world diplomacy for the president. with a wide array of major international issues on the table including whether the president will decide to pull out of the controversial iran nuclear deal. don't want to see happen. this is "outnumbered." i'm harris faulkner pretty today, town hall editor and fox news contributor katie pavlich. posted can be on fox business, kennedy. commentator and fox news contributor rachel campos duffy and joining us in the center seat, fox news political analyst
9:01 am
and cohost of the five, juan williams is "outnumbered." happy friday. >> juan: happy friday to you guys, a rainy day but lots of basketball coming this weekend. i'm a big basketball fan. i couldn't believe that cleveland took baker mayfield. isn't that a rerun of that last quarterback? >> harris: again, happy friday friday. president trump and german chancellor angela merkel meeting at the white house right now. among the big issues on the table for them, the iran nuclear deal. if president trump has until mal the united states out of that agreement. president trump discussed with french president emmanuel macron. this visit will likely have a different feel. i can imagine as president trump appears to enjoy a closer relationship with the leaders of france and he does with that of germany.
9:02 am
meanwhile, u.s. officials are raising concern about iran's support for terrorism in the lead up to president trump's decision on that nuke deal. and here's defense secretary james mattis with lawmakers yesterday. >> working with our european eyelashes at this time and again, the decision has not been made. >> we all recognize it was an imperfect agreement. >> harris: live outside the white house, our very own kevin corke. >> good to be with you as you can well imagine, very different feel as you pointed out as the german chancellor makes her way here to the white house. different when compared to emmanuel macron a french. we're talking about trade security and the iran nuclear deal only the agenda is that working lunch has already begun here at the white house. the german chancellor arriving just about 5 minutes ago. the two leaders as you pointed out earlier have previously met here at the white house and are rumored to have a bit of a frosty but professional report. within the last hour, the president was actually talking
9:03 am
about the upcoming meeting. he was hosting america's winter olympians here at the white house and he joked that maybe he could use a bit of help in working out a few deals with angela merkel. >> and i'm going to see and meet with angela merkel and we are going to talk about the united states and germany. we are in the midst of a lot of very good negotiations if anyone wants to help me negotiate come out take your help. >> that quit coming amid a port in the discussions about trade and the iran deal. if that is actually a bit of a race against the clock here for the president. keep in mind, he has until may 1st to make a decision on a number of possible tariffs affecting the e.u. and germany in particular and of course until may 12th to determine if the u.s. will in fact vacate the iran nuclear cord. asking if it was fair to compare this visit with a previous visit earlier this week, white house senior advisor kellyanne conway had this to say. >> france and germany are great allies of the united states of
9:04 am
america. obviously, there are issues that affect all of us at the same time. i've seen the comparisons. i think every leadership is different and relationship is different. but the most important is to the country and we are very happy that chancellor merkel is making another trip here to the united states. >> making another trip. the emmanuel macron visit was held as assessable in europe because it appeared to him of the president just towards working on a possible new iran deal while not entirely scrapping the existing one. but keep in mind obviously, there is a lot more there than meets the eye. and this by the way is all happening as you point out amid new concerns about iran's continued terrorism and destabilizing behavior in the region. that will certainly be on the agenda as a president and the chance to this afternoon. >> harris: is kind of interesting how sometimes the actions of the president give a little fodder to these decisions of the past. it is exactly what the president was talking about. good to see you.
9:05 am
thank you. so i just mentioned on the couch and you heard kevin alluded to it as well. they may be having tea i'm going to guess ice-t. only katie heard it. i thought everybody heard it, but i said it. maybe a little bit better. so talk to me if you can about what you think their relationship is like and why it matters or doesn't matter. >> juan: i think it has a great deal of significance globally and i'll tell you why. on the immigration issue, clearly president trump has the idea that you can only do so much and you should only do so much but he's been critical of angela merkel for allowing and millions of immigrants and innocents exacerbated the tensions in germany and that has made her feel somewhat under attack from trump and i think the big item and the one that may be leading to the iced frothy tea that you are talking about because this is going to be refrain from what the president heard from
9:06 am
president mccrone of france. >> harris: they both are on the same page. the tariffs. but have they moved it all on iran though? a three night having an interesting moment because remember, after he spoke with president trumka him he went to the congress and said it's an important deal, the verification position is in pla. it can look on it, but nuclear arms as a baseline for than trying to hold armaments being developed by the iranian's. and i think angela merkel is going to reiterate that the same message to president trump and what we heard from matt is today, no decision has been mad made. you get a different impression from people inside the white house. >> harris: kennedy? >> kennedy: i tend to agree with james mattis on this. i think it's a horrible deal. there are so many holes in it as we discussed. if there is so much opacity in areas where we should know
9:07 am
what's going on, we should know where they're making certain materials, there is not a full surprise inspections. given that, it is possible to remodel this deal. i think angela merkel is smart enough to maintain successful relationships with the united states in order to have one of the few booming economies in europe. it is necessary. she doesn't have the emotional or social connection with the president and tends to do better with people that he likes. but him in particular, i don't think it's completely necessary that they burrowed down and have this super yummy romance literally speaking, but i do think that i have to figure something out in order to mutual. >> harris: we saw something similar, the circumstances different but similar in terms of relationship building with
9:08 am
president obama and benjamin netanyahu of israel. we have seen this sort of thing before. i want to get your thoughts. >> rachel: with regards to the iran deal, he is saying is not a great deal, it can be improved. trump is saying let's scrap it. i think it's part of that whole negotiation that trump is so famous for. this is a bad deal, i'm willing to negotiate on this but it's got to be better. that's what i think is happening there with that sort of space between went he is saying and with the president is saying. with our cars the relationship, it's obvious that it's a very different relationship than he has with emmanuel macron. angela merkel has made it very clear she's not going to fly to the president. everyone knows the president kind of likes that he refuses to do that. the president's approval numbers and germany is 11%. so there's some domestic consumption and that but i think it's a mistake. >> harris: our president's approval numbers and germany. but he's president here of the united states. >> rachel: the point i want to
9:09 am
make with this is a mistake on the part of angela merkel to not try a little bit because the point is, germany needs america more than we need them in trade. that's not to say we should have a trade war but they send more goods to united states than any other country in the world and of the way that the trade system is set up right now is based on world war ii when we were trying to help germany become more self-reliant. we are to take the training wheels off and that's a discussion that's going on right now and it's important for germany. >> harris: want to try to get katie in here and you know i was just messing with you. the president's approval ratings are less than 50? so i just want to say this will quickly and because i have to cut in on you. angela merkel and the president have wrapped this up, we are waiting for what happens when one of us media outlets are allowed to roll what we shot inside that room with them in the oval office. so as soon as that comes up, we will play that out as brand-new videos we will know exactly what they're talking about. two points if they hit. >> katie: the interesting
9:10 am
thing about angela merkel's she has something in common with donald trump and a sense that for a long time, germany was getting very fed up with pulling the weight of all of europe and they went around europe and said look, we have the strongest economy in all the rest of the countries are feeding off of that so they do have that in common. but if we take away the personality of this, we have a strong alliance with germany. that helped us a lot with taking on isis in iraq and syria and been very helpful in sending troops to be advisors in those areas. in terms of the iran deal, it's interesting to see the differences with how the obama administration negotiated with the new europeans and how the trump administration is negotiating with them. the issues on the table now include attacking things outside of just nuclear program including terrorism and other things and we have that coming up so i will add my comments there but there's a lot to do with other things than just a nuclear program. >> harris: perfect set up because as of the things we know they're going to be talking about as we are getting to notes of what they met on just a few
quote
9:11 am
moments ago. so we have the german chancellor angela merkel at the white house and the oval office moved inside because of the weather now and the president of the united states. let's watch. >> president trump: they like you. thank you very much. it's a great honor to have chancellor merkel, and i will say that you can rest assured she is going to win that election and congratulations on winning an informal congratulations, a great victory. we are working on a lot of different subjects including trade, nato, military of all types and we have a really great relationship, and we actually have had a great relationship right from the beginning but some people didn't understand that. but we understand it and that's what's important. if very extraordinary woman.
9:12 am
and it's an honor to have you at the white house, thank you very much. >> [speaking german] >> thank you very much. thank you for this very warm reception and for the words of congratulations. it took some time to build a government, that is certainly true but it was very important in this first visit outside of europe to come to the united states, to come to washington in order to yet again undermine that we wish to deepen our relationship further and i hope and trust we are very much looking forward to a very good talk and i trust we will have today. >> president trump: thank you very much. appreciate it. we were honored. it was a great report. no collusion, which i knew
9:13 am
anyway, no coordination, no nothing. it's a witch hunt, that's all there is. no collusion with russia. if you can believe this one. who can? but the report was very powerful, very strong, no collusion between the trump campaign and the russian people. as i've said many times before, i've always said there was no collusion but i've also said there has been nobody tougher on russia than me. with that all being said, if we can get along with russia, that's a good thing, not a bad thing but there has been nobody tougher on russia than me. it was very honored by the report. it was totally conclusive, strong, powerful. many things said that nobody knew about and said in a very strong way. they were very forceful and saying that the clinton campaign actually did contribute to russia. it is somebody ought to look at that. but what we really should do is get on with our lives and get on with a lot of things. we have a lot of great things
9:14 am
happening including potentially with north korea as you can see, a lot of very positive things happen over the last 24 hours. we are in total touch with both north korea and south korea. we will be setting up a meeting very shortly. we have a broken down to two sites now, two or three sites, locations. and hopefully we are going to have great success. we will see what happens but hopefully we are going to have great success. so president moon and i are speaking and we are speaking very much with south korea and with north korea. the relationships are building and building strongly. this will be a great thing for the world. this will be a great thing for germany but this will be a great thing for the world. angela and i have discussed this over a period of the last few months, the north korea problem and i think you're seeing a lot of very positive things are happening. >> any agreement on a rant today, president?
9:15 am
>> president trump: i don't expect that either way or the other. i know we will have a very good discussion on a rant as did with emmanuel, the president of france a mess and we will be having discussions on on the b, having discussions on trade among various discussions. i don't think he's playing. it's never gone like this, never gone this far, i don't think it's ever had this enthusiasm for them wanting to make a deal and i agree, the united states has been played beautifully like a fiddle because you had a different kind of a leader. we are not going to be played. the united states in the past was played like a fiddle. money going in and nobody knew what was happening. the day after an arrangement was made if you call it a deal, i doubt it, but an arrangement was made.
9:16 am
you saw with a nuclear weapons again. that is not happening with us. we will come up with a solution and if we don't, we leave the room with great respect, we leave the room and we just keep it going. i also will tell you that president xi of china has been very helpful at the border and i want to acknowledge that. i think it's very important to acknowledge. but president xi has been very helpful to me. we have a very good relationship. he has been extremely helpful to me at the border. so we will see where it all goes. but this isn't like past administrations. we don't play games. i think you much, everybody. thank you very much, everybody paid >> harris: the president of the united states. i want to be careful not to step on him there because sometimes he'll take an extra question and
9:17 am
this is life playback we had not seen that before. he's with the chancellor of germany, angela merkel. and first off, let's start with his words. we are not going to be played, the united states. rachel, you perked up when you saw that. a couple issues first with iran and the north korea as the president says we been played like a fiddle. if that's not going to happen anymore. >> rachel: that's when he ran on, all these bad deals from nafta to the situation in north korea to the situation where he is saying these are bad deals. i can make them better. it doesn't necessarily mean he's going to scrap nafta or in this case maybe he's not going to scrap with iran. what he saying is i can get you a better deal on the way to do that is to be willing to walk away and be on the offense. i think that's what he's really good at. >> harris: what's interesting is we were all kind of watching and kind of paused when the president was enumerating the things that he and angela merkel will be talking about and i think it was you who said that
9:18 am
something is not a top the list of dealing with iran. i wonder how much will be listening to her about that topic. >> juan: it seems contradictory. i don't know if you're going to be talking about it, we're going to have a very detailed discussion. i don't know his mind. >> harris: those are two different things. is he going to be listening to her or telling her what he's going to do which is decidedly different from what we've seen from any other president. >> juan: what do you mean by that? be when he is considering not recertifying that deal. >> juan: that i understand. i thought you were saying he couldn't listen. it's not about angela merkel changing his mind so much as a group of national -- international leaders including emmanuel macron, now angela merkel as well. it's a six party deal that is involved with the iranians say have a number of people who are suggesting hold on, if you're going to scrap this, you open the door to the irradiance going full bore into developing nuclear weapons.
9:19 am
at the moment, we have a baseline. i don't think that's the issue. if the verification according to our national security people is good at the moment. the problem is that then you have the iranians revolved and terrorism, you have them at developing missiles that they shouldn't be developing and shipping not only money but armaments into the middle east. >> katie: the point is is not only about redoing the deal. it's about punishing iran for bad behavior. the nuclear deal was supposed to improve their behavior, it's gotten worse. they tried to take over territory, fighting proxy wars, using hezbollah to attack our allies. it's also about punishing iran for bad behavior. but do we also know they're not in and trustworthy because they have said that. they are and pleasantly untrustworthy. >> harris: you heard resident trump referring to it a historic summit between the leaders of north and south korea and what that means for the presidents
9:20 am

you know what's not awesome? gig-speed internet. when only certain people can get it. let's fix that. let's give this guy gig- really? and these kids, and these guys, him, ah. oh hello. that lady, these houses! yes, yes and yes. and don't forget about them. uh huh, sure. still yes! xfinity delivers gig speed to more homes than anyone. now you can get it, too. welcome to the party. >> harris: president trump reacting today to historic summit that could have worldwide implications. north korean leader kim jong un visiting the south. it's the first time a leader from the north has done so since
9:24 am
the 1953 armistice suspended hostilities in the korean war. notice, that wasn't a peace agreement. they announced they would work with the united states and china to declare an official end to that war and then seek that agreement to establish permanent peace including complete nuclear is asian of the korean peninsula. this coming the head of president tom's plan meeting with president kim jong un and after a visit by secretary of state mike pompeo, he made a secret trip during easter weekend while he was still cia director to meet with the north's leader. president trump tweeted this earlier. "korean war to end. he united states and all of its great people should be very proud of what is taking place in korea." >> katie: watching this last night, i was on kennedy's show and it was incredible to watch this history play out in real time and to watch the handshaking and the walking together, walking down the red carpet and to know that this hasn't happened since 1953 i
9:25 am
believe, really is incredible. does this mean we are going to get farther and get a permanent deal? not necessarily. there's a lot of verification that has to happen with the north koreans but to see the progress here is really inspiring and i think the president deserves a lot of credit for taking the heat from the critics. and of the twitter diplomacy sometimes is nerve-racking for everybody especially when he's talking about having a bigger nuclear button. but it seemed to have worked out so far so i'm excited to see what is happening moving forward it. if you look at the words that were said by north korean officials, they were thinking the south koreans for allowing this to happen, the south koreans were very gracious and saying he was very courageous. it's a big deal. so it was nice to see them coming together. >> harris: you were hearing words like nobel peace prize from senator lindsey graham and others. what do you think? >> rachel: he would deserve it if that happened. our president donald trump would deserve it certainly more than obama did after eight years of doing nothing.
9:26 am
what we saw yesterday was unthinkable just a few months ago. and the other thing he said in the tweet besides what should be the headline on the newspapers today which is korean war to end, the other thing he said and i think it's important, he congratulated the american people and specifically those who put him in office and they do deserve credit for the path that we are on and what i think will probably be an end. the reason is they have taken trump voters who took a chance on him as president and his style of negotiating on behalf of not just america but the world in this regard with regard to the specific north korean situation is they've been called a racist, they've been called the traders to women, but traders to their race, but they put a man in office who was so strong. he literally went and said what is the biggest problem facing the world? north korea, i'll take that. we know he has been dealing with north korea since day one in
9:27 am
office. that's who we put in office. we do deserve congratulations for that. to be what i want to go to kennedy because i already know what you're going to say. why do you think or do you think democrats will give this president credit? >> kennedy: i think will do everything in their power to not give him credit and i think that's a mistake. i think for once, they don't have to fall all over themselves doling out lavish praise but what they should do is take a step back and let this process work because it's really interesting as americans, we should really take note of the fact that china has been so heavy-handed on the korean peninsula and there's no way that there heavy-handed would have led to this because that is not what china wants. it is a shift in american diplomacy whether or not you like the president that has allowed china to be marginalized in this moment, it is because of the foreign policy and reaching out to north korea and having north korea reach back that the two koreas were able to hand-in-hand have go back and
9:28 am
forth in north korea and south korea and me alone jubilantly, optimistically for a half hour and a credit goes to america and its president. >> juan: if there's a nobel peace prize to be given, it should be given to president moon of south korea. he's the one who really open the door and had to say to the trump administration the hard line here is not the way to go. >> harris: can i step in for just a second because we're talking about diplomacy. can there be some between democrats and republicans at least on this issue? >> juan: there is. i don't think there's any argument. everyone wants us to be successful. >> harris: are they looking at where the change came? >> juan: the change came from president moon. he is someone who has said not only to present a trump to the chinese, we need to talk with the north while other people wanted to stonewall it. >> rachel: liberals predicted nuclear war based on trump strategy. and look at where we are at. they deserve credit.
9:29 am
he took on this issue from day one. >> harris: the president may get up and walk away, we don't know what happens. >> juan: this issue has been there since president clinton, president bush, president obama. [all talking at once] >> harris: president trump responding to the latest interview with former fbi director james comey grade comey says he did not break the law when he released memos of its private conversations with the president. the president begs to differ. >> i don't consider it oblique. i told him about an unclassified conversation with the president. you might take something for your heart... or joints. but do you take something for your brain. with an ingredient originally found in jellyfish,

the fbi to the bureau could always have access to it but i always thought of it as my like a diary. >> kennedy: but also does he have enough personal safe? that was james comey with our very own bret baier last night denying he leaked classified information. as the fired fbi director saying the memos he shared with his law professor pal handed them over to "the new york times" where like a diary. but the president not buying comey's story tweeting "is everybody believing what is going on? james comey can't define what a leak is. he doesn't understand of what he did or how serious it is. he lied all over the place to cover it up. he's either very sick for a very dumb. remember sailor! ". and last month by the president for taking photos inside top-secret areas of a nuclear sub. so watch this interview last night, was very interesting to
9:35 am
see comey frustrated and trying to tap dance around some of these pretty big issues that were raised including whether or not what he leaked was in fact a war product ordered diary entry like a 12-year-old girl. >> katie: the goal post on what constitutes what the memos are and what a leak is has moved significantly and they moved again last night in the interview with bret baier. in his testimony last summer, james comey said specifically i gave these memos to a friend whether time is not named for the purpose of leaking to "the new york times" to get the information to the press to launch a special counsel probe. now last night, he is saying this was more of a personal diary and if that is true, why was it written on fbi computers, why did he email the memos to a number of fbi officials and in the first line of those memos for print them out and read them as we did last week, comey
9:36 am
specifically says i know these are likely classified. i have classified them now as secret. let me know if they need a different classification. so he knew what he was doing and if anybody else, any private citizen or any lower level fbi agent and the bureau would've gone home and put these memos that they acknowledged were classified and secret information into their own personal safe amount they would be in a lot of trouble. >> harris: it isn't just how he did it, it was with whom because as it turns out, this columbia professor wasn't just a friend. this was a person who used to work for the fbi. james comey. on special projects. >> katie: now he's saying he's an attorney. >> harris: 's is a very different relationship than just a friend to this also would potentially be somebody who would have understood whether or not that material belonged to the government and if it does, it's too late to give it back. >> juan: this is not
9:37 am
classified. the president continues. >> kennedy: don't you agree the classification can change? >> juan: katie said classified. [all talking at once] this is the heart of the matter. it is a leak a leak of undisclosed information? the classified information, that is definitely a leak and that is illegal. and comey quite ably last night with bret baier under really strong questioning made it very clear. it was not classified and it's in his book which the fbi had before publication and never said you can't publish this, it's classified. is not the case. >> rachel: he said it was my personal aide to memoir. he threw the book at that poor sailor who took a picture in the submarine, through the book at him, put him in jail, ruin his
9:38 am
life, house arrest, financial ruin. but that sailor have been allows the use of same defense that this was? that sailor actually was using it. he was actually using it to give to his son as a memory. that was a fact. comey used it to start an investigation on a sitting president. >> juan: apples and oranges -- [all talking at once] >> harris: it speaks to the issue of how well would have known was classified? >> kennedy: he think your gal, he should do. >> juan: are talking about hillary? may be like kanye, kanye likes both trump and hillary paid >> kennedy: new information on that russian lawyer who met with several team trump campaign officials back in 2016.

>> katie: fox news alert on that russian lawyer that attended the 2016 of meeting with donald trump jr. and other top trump campaign officials. she reportedly told nbc news that she is not just a private attorney and she had claimed but also an informant for a top kremlin official. live at the state department was details. >> good afternoon. she was at that 2016 meeting at trump tower and according to this report in "the new york times" which is sourcing and interview at nbc, they are saying that she is admitting that since 2013, she
9:44 am
is actively communicating and working with the office of the russian prosecutor general and acknowledging that she is a lawyer but also an informant. according to this report, the entire work with the russian government that she had done or one of the cases of that goes back to a 2014 case in which the justice department was looking into a russian businessman on a civil fraud case. she basically advised the russian prosecutor's office on how to stymie that investigation and not cooperate with u.s. officials. this of course takes more of a heightened view here were heightened look because of what she's been telling congress in which he previously maintained, that she was in communicating with other governments, that she had no ties to the russian government or wasn't working at least in a capacity with the russian government but now she is acknowledging that she did. this goes back to the 2016 meeting at trump tower which was attended by donald trump jr., jared kushner, and paul manafort which at first was a discussion according to the trump campaign about adoption of some type of offer about whether or not they
9:45 am
had information on hillary clinton campaign. so that lawyer at the center of this which is also the mueller probe on going admitting she was working with the russian prosecutor's office since 2013. >> katie: thank you so much. kennedy, natalia turned out to be an informant and the other thing we can call her is a spy. >> kennedy: absolutely. if i don't think anyone is foolish enough to say we should trust the russian government or a people who claim to not be agents especially when they are peddling information to disrupt normal elections in our political system and that is where it seems everyone was getting dirt for the 2016 presidential campaign, everyone. and it's a sad state of affairs. what a surprise, of course. who else has been operating as a

russian spy? >> katie: i want to ask you a question because donald trump jr. took this meeting and maybe he was foolish to do so. >> rachel: it was. pretty came up as a fox news alert. i don't think this is breaking news. i'm not surprised that she was a spry. i don't think anyone is going to get any more campaigns after this because everyone is going to sue everybody is a spy and no one wants is under their belt. >> katie: who was a russian working for an appointed campaign? >> rachel: russians getting meetings with campaigns in the future, no one is going to want to take a meeting with them. but the liberals, the democrats, this is really not good for them because what they're going to do is continue on with this being political he bad for them. the company is focused on the winds from north korea to the economy. they're going to keep going russia, prussia, russia, and i can tell you i live in the midwest, no one is talking about russia. there is no good to show for this investigation.

>> katie: there are bigger questions about how she actually got to the country. she wasn't able to travel to the united states. she was given a visa by the justice department i believe. so the way that she got into the country was pretty iffy and now considering the new and now we especially know she is admitting and why she was a spy for senior officials close to vladimir putin seems to be a problem for the obama justice department as well. >> juan: not at all. the reason she was let in his because she was able to show that she was representing a client in brooklyn. and she had the right as his counsel to be in attendance. he was not about setting up a meeting at trump tower with trump officials. no one anticipated that. that's where she was in violation of her visa. i do think the big news -- as a lawyer? >> harris: in terms of how they vetted her to come into the country? >> juan: but they did as they responded. she had been previously kept out of the country because of this
9:48 am
but once she was able to make the case that she was the proper and appointed lawyer, the big news i think your business. donald trump on the airplane having to write a memo to explain why his son and campaign officials were in a meeting with this woman and special counsel mueller is looking at that very interested in why that might constitute obstruction of justice. >> harris: is interesting what can be said because if both sides were guilty of having some sort of relationship or meeting or whatever it was, then maybe we need to take a look at how we allow meetings to go on and campaigns to do a better vetting process at a different level of the government because we need to be looking out for both side sides. >> rachel: as a political spouse, i will say this. someone comes to me and i not justifying it, it's human nature if somebody says your political opponent, i'd be like let me hear it.

>> rachel: for the second year in a row, president trump is planning to skip the white house correspondents dinner an end head will hold a campaign-style rally in a town named washington michigan. in a campaign email to supporters, the president saying "my staff asked mr. president, the white house correspondents dinner is coming up. will you go? and i said why but i want to be stuck in a room with a bunch of fake news liberals who hate me? "now questions of the potential impact on this decision as republicans face a battle to secure the congressional majority in the midterm. so katie, isn't that answer, why would i want to be stuck in a room with people who hate me, is and that what people love about him, so honest. >> katie: i think it would be fun to go make fun of them back to their face because they can handle it either. the press complains about the president having thin-skinned, they have thinner skin then donald trump doesn't for him to stand up there and give it back to them would be great. but politically speaking, this
9:54 am
is very smart. republicans have a bit of an uphill battle when it comes to the midterms so was a good thing he's going to be out on the campaign trail trying to get the base riled up because as we know, the date of the election keeps getting closer and closer. but i do think would be fun for him to go to one of these things and give it back to the press. >> rachel: event to this event, you are going as i understand. can the president went on their turf like that as katie suggested? >> juan: wherever the president goes, he is a number one attraction. he would control the platform. just as presence would be a sensation because it's trump and the media. he went to the gridiron dinner as you know and was there with a very select group of highly ranking leaders. i don't want to say a cattle call. the call of the nerd prom or something like that. >> harris: no one outside washington understands that. >> juan: i think the president would control and it would make a lot of news. i think he's playing a campaign rally.

emir others event well. >> harris: i do know this event well and i go every year. i like the justice position between having a current president and not having one last year. it forces us to be doing what we should be doing anyway, making it less nerdy and more about networking and talking. and talking with each other about what questions get asked and which ones don't. i still think it's an interesting event. as the president will make me was the matter where he goes and so there will be a number of us who will be covering that as well. we can do both. we can multitask. it can happen. >> rachel: is a smart to get out of the swamp and go to michigan? >> kennedy: he feeds off the hatred. he absolutely loves animosity. it is his lifeblood. he shouldn't kid himself that he wouldn't have a great time going out. i think it's a missed opportunity. i think he would love it, i
9:56 am
think the press would love it the more importantly, i think the american people would savor the moment. >> rachel: i think it's a great political move to go to michigan. if that's my opinion. more "outnumbered" and justin moment. stay with us. liberty mutual stood with me when this guy got a flat tire in the middle of the night. hold on dad... liberty did what? yeah, liberty mutual 24-hour roadside assistance helped him to fix his flat so he could get home safely. my dad says our insurance doesn't have that. don't worry - i know what a lug wrench is, dad.
