but a lot hasn't. ask your doctor about ibrance. the #1 prescribed fda-approved oral combination treatment for hr+/her2- mbc. leland: a fox news alert. 10:00 a.m. pacific screen lapped tijuana mexico where the terror van of migrants from south america has arrived and you can see, folks scaling the fence between the united states and mexico. the screen lapped tijuana on the mexican side of the border print screen right committee united states of america, were evidently some pro-immigrant activists have gathered to greet these arriving migrants. we know from our reporting as we look at a live picture from tijuana come a big crowd climbing over the fence. the past couple of days in
10:01 am
tijuana, these people who have come from el salvador and honduras have essentially been receiving coaching on what to say when they get into the united states to seek asylum. some in very candid interviews with william la jeunesse talking about they've been told what to say, what not to say if they ask for asylum to try to get to that, liz, the level of a crazed vocal threat to themselves, which then sort of has a much different process from immigration officials that they claim over the border and say i want a job. elizabeth: they are obviously separating themselves because they are asylum seekers essentially. taking the original caravan up to 1500 individuals, some of those families single men and women. they're supposed to be 250 and 300 people arriving this morning.
10:02 am
there are people who are of greeted them on the u.s. side. in fact devoid from the american civil liberties union they are suing the government because they want to make sure the practice of separating families come or sometimes can happen has stopped. there's a lot of people in factors involved. we've heard so much about the caravan coming. leland: we've heard a lot about it. president trump talk to the mexican officials about it. he's treated about it and talked about stopping his caravan in the mexican government had stopped part of the caravan coming as you mentioned some 1500 people whittled down and now they are here in tijuana, which in so many days you can hear the cheering as we bring the sound up does seem a little bit like a made-for-tv moment by immigration act of this. >> you imagine the president had still talked about it and he was
10:03 am
asking mexico to deploy their national border in order for this to stop. we talked about it being a made-for-tv moment. leland: the caravan is a deliberate attempt to undermine our laws and overwhelm our systems. reporting here nearly 20 attorneys from the united states were in the border state in tijuana and what's william la jeunesse was reporting these attorneys there to sort of coach on what to say. you can see some folks there in tijuana trying to help out the immigrants. organ match lap in the american conservative union to talk about this. it does certainly seem that this is in some ways the pictures that the left wants and in some ways also the pictures president trump wants to show exactly how weak the border is.
10:04 am
hard to find a better advertisement for president trump walled in this video. >> it's hard to go and this is all about politics. every aspect of this. the left doesn't believe in borders and free immigration and everyone should be able to seek a better economic situation by coming to america and whatever numbers that is, the bigots in their political interest with what is going on at the border right now. the truth is there's another side to this incident american people who look at these images and it is appalling to them that these folks may cut in line ahead of thousands and thousands of people here illegally impatiently waiting until the other paperwork. they want to be reacquainted with their loved ones. these people potentially get the job done. this is something important to know. it happens everyday at the
10:05 am
border. we accept people every day and bring them in and give them a temporary legal status. if they don't go to their hearings they could be in america forever. leland: you make a very good point about people in line because if you listen to the pro-immigration act this, and they say so many people in this caravan are not only seeking a better life in america, but escaping brutality and the crime therein that goes to the issue of whether they can ask for asylum and refugee status versus immigrant status one take it across the border. you bring up an important point. people all over the world and other parts of africa and the parts of southeast asia, south and central america who also have real fear of their lives and are desperately trying to get to america. i've got real problems. breathing grave danger to try to be let in. >> this is the problem people say what is donald trump going
10:06 am
to do on daca? the definition of a dreamer, think about it again. these programs are in essence occurring in people are coming over and they were able because judges have said we have to accept them. everything donald trump talked about is what is wrong with our immigration system and laws are used against us and it happens to be true. even those of us pro-immigration republicans want to have a process by which people can come into america. we realize he's right about of the flaws in the system and today everyone can see it. >> you talked about your pro-immigrant. what the pro-immigrant republicans want to see when they see these pictures? where do we go from here? we have families at the border. how can they go back home? >> we are getting played.
10:07 am
politics about getting a caravan pulled together. having a calm with all the press associated with it. their operatives there at the border to train them on what to say, to make sure that they stay the right keywords so they get in the right lane to make sure that can stay in america. that's a subversion of everything we want with our immigration. our immigration laws are very sound. they are very good. we simply don't follow them. pictures, and our screen because we are good, tolerant decent people in america. seems to trump the national order of the immigration process. what president trump has helped everybody realized is that it's actually not fair to all of us. all of us deserve better to respond to the type of made up emergencies. elizabeth: some of these young folks physically climbing up the wall. is that intentional, if not patronizing the administration
10:08 am
do you think? >> we'll talk about this idea is the defense come is awol? you see what president trump kept insisting we the wall. oftentimes i would say hey, even democrats that is not a secure border. that is not secure enough. tranter the third of what i was getting mad. people cannot go over it. it seems really basic. trade was pretty stunning to sit there and look at the pictures. our viewers understand the majority about 1:00 eastern, 10:00 a.m. pacific. you are looking from the mexican border into california. everybody on the left side of the wall, not everybody, but most are immigrants from this caravan who want to get into the united states and on the right side of your screen, that line
10:09 am
are essentially immigration activists inside the united states who have created a reading committee for lack of a better term. this is in friendship park, california on the other side. but if you look at these images, which we are not the only ones watching. these are available worldwide. what better advertisement for a hey, come to the wall and walked into america than this. they will easily be on the front page. >> this is what is really important when donald trump talked about the need to build a wall and it talks about it now. leland: you talked about a lesson in michigan. >> we talked about the omnibus which has money for border security. if you fix the problem with daca, you have to change the way
10:10 am
the process works. these people at our border today, no matter what structure was there, if a judge tells them they must be accepted into the country and put into cuts d. is not it while you can build big enough. that is why the way the system has to be changed while we build the wall and why potentially we get amnesty to some. >> it's an important question. we have william la jeunesse in tijuana trying to get into this location. we were able to bring in william la jeunesse. first things first as we've been watching now for about 10 minutes. where is the border patrol and u.s. authorities topping people? >> well, we are in tijuana right now with the immigrant caravan as well as supporters. so i am in tijuana. this is the pacific ocean right
10:11 am
here. defense extends out into the ocean. now, in we are going to push through. you can see over there another group of people. they are in the u.s. side. a double fence in this area as we go. this is where it expands. over on that side is the u.s. on this site is tijuana. you've got to have a no man's land in between. this area used to be the most heavily traveled area along the border. this is where the first quarter was built back in the 90s. here you have a fence if you will. some individuals have climbed up over here. they've climbed up on top of it. and those are basically central american immigrants in the u.s. who come here to show. the land. leland: if you can hear me, any sign of a border patrol or customs and immigration
10:12 am
deputized to come down here? >> yeah, the border patrol, i mean, i've been down here about two or three dozen times. usually on the u.s. side. the border patrol i can't see vehicles from here, that they are about 50 yards away on the u.s. side on the other side of the double fence. highly fortified. border patrol is here. national guard will not come down. trade to the border patrol, are patrol, our obese people watching climb over the fence, is the border patrol interdict the ninth or letting them go to the grading committee? >> these individuals i have not seen any jump over on the other side. they are on top of the fence. they would be apprehended very quickly if they did. again, probably the most heavily fortified area along the border of the entire 2000-mile border. they climbed up there, making a
10:13 am
point talking to supporters on the north side, but no one is climbing over. they be interdicted into no man's land. >> just one question for you. you had mentioned at the top of your reporting that you see in some cases more supporters than you are actually immigrants. you realize you're on the mexican side, but i wanted to ask you, are you talking to some of the supporters and who is there? are there people providing legal guidance, friends and families, who is there with the immigrants? >> so, over the last three or four days, i visited three different shelters, talking to many immigrant families who come over here. the caravans around a thousand individuals. about 340 are here in tijuana. we are expecting 200 to claim
10:14 am
asylum. i see a lot of familiar faces here. definitely a legal immigrant families from central america here as well as supporters. a lot of supporters and people who've been deported from the u.s. who have stayed in tijuana. they are here. a lot of individuals who simply support and see this as a celebration. a long and dangerous journey for some of these 300 individuals who they say are fleeing persecution and violence by looking for a better life. as you all know, the administration means these people are gaming the system, basically lying and committing fraud and trying to claim they are victims of persecution when in fact they don't. they are looking for a job in a better life, which is not what the law says that nevertheless they will go through the process with at least two thirds of them. >> i was going to ask you they were very open about the fact
10:15 am
there were coming to the support of intrigue. we've been talking about this for the last couple of weeks. what comes in the next few hours? receive a celebration, but they are going to try to gain access and how are they going to do this? what were you see over the next couple hours? >> good point. here's what's going to happen. they will have a news conference here shortly. there is an entrance to the port of entry. so about 200 individuals will go and i think probably in groups they'll present themselves to the border. so there will be an initial screening if you will. then they'll be taking to a detention center in all likelihood or a motel or more links billy interview with someone from u.s. eis.
10:16 am
then they believe and will be taken to detention with an immigration judge and other ones will be detained for the entire process, which is at least -- sorry, the secretary -- homeland security secretary has said would have been in keep them in detention until the case is adjudicated. hard to tell whether that's true or not. 17,000 asylum applicants this year. so this happens on a daily basis. >> thank you so much. we'll be checking in with you as we continue this afternoon. a lot of breaking news on the border. thank you so much.
10:17 am
>> the american conservative union is to keep watching these live pictures. this is the u.s. side of the border. as william pointed out, this is a made-for-tv moment by these immigration act to this. at the same time, it brings up the very point that president trump was making yesterday about the issues of either having secure borders are not. there's a political site on each. this is video from the past couple days at the migrant caravan arrived in tijuana, mexico with about 300 people or so in el salvador and honduras who as william reported will have the protest in a press conference and present themselves. either an admission they talk about trying to sort of overwhelmed the u.s. asylum process. >> you notice they were chanting [speaking in spanish] which is the chant the obama campaign used.
10:18 am
>> translate that for us. i didn't do so well in spanish class. >> yes we can. it means yes they can cross the border if they want across the border. the other thing that infuriates people so clearly there are american left wing operatives. you see different flags. i love it when people from other countries want to fly the american flag and make this country great. when you see people carrying other flags and makes people wonder why do i come to america if you want to stand by the american flag. these are basic things we have to think of. you are right they are trying to overwhelm the system and they bring it home to people that are laws sometimes are not followed and judges used against them. if you want to come to an america come you can do it everyday. trend to bring us to the next part of this which is president trump last night talking about building a wall. it was a campaign promise he would build the wall in mexico
10:19 am
and pay for it. whatever the political reasons are, it hasn't been funded. you've got republicans who control the house and senate and white house and there's still no wall can we still have these pictures. how did that change and when did it become a problem? >> this is a fair criticism which is categorical in the idea of building a wall. popular with a lot of democrats. not just a republican issue. people see people coming in over the border and it worries them about our security and republican should be criticized. the president talked about not signing the most recent omnibus bill. >> he thought about it but he still signed it. >> are you going to find a wall -- build a wall when you don't get the funding and republicans have to look at the american people and be straight with them. are we going to fund this or not? we are going to watch this a lot more often. the map will watching the mexican side of the border, the

back to the border as news develops their and the politics surrounding these pictures. something president trump talked about last night. the need to build the wall of the challenges in building his wall when he was in michigan and a major rally. the other thing the president talked about was his meeting with kim jong un of north korea. the president says the meeting will be happening soon. the president's national security adviser said there is no hammering out the time and place. gillian turner with what we have learned so far today. john bolton laying out some parameters here. elizabeth: some parameters for not getting bogged down for the new national security adviser is in getting swept up in all the hype surrounding the face-to-face meeting with the north korean date hitter kim jong un. they have been caught up in speculation about practical element of the encounter where,
10:26 am
when in here. keep in his eye on the bigger prize than not getting distracted by the playbook. >> if in fact kim has made a strategic decision to give up his entire nuclear weapons program, then i think deciding on the place and that they should be fairly easy. nobody is starry eyed around here and we been called a number of things. neighbors not usually one of them. the president sees potential here for in the historic agreement. >> the groundwork has already been laid by north and south korean leaders half a world away. today we learn more. the first between leaders of the two koreas in more than a decade. that culminated in kim agreed to complete the nuclear station of the peninsula with the new era of peace. now in another strategic gesture, north korea says it will shut down its nuclear testing site in may and invite
10:27 am
american and south korean journalists and experts into the country. brenda secretary of state mike pompeo counting this development as a win. >> i think it's a big deal. it's important at every step along the way matters. >> some democratic lawmakers are optimistic about the progress being made are still urging caution. >> under previous administrations to both parties, and his father, grandfather, the regime the rules north korea has done a two step forward, one step back strategy. >> north and south korea are deep in discussions about how and when to open up the closure to international visitors. a move towards transparency that a few weeks ago would've seemed nearly impossible. >> you also the chess game between the south koreans, japanese. it's a little bit wider. gillian turner, thank you. liz has more. elizabeth: california
10:28 am
congressman john garamendi. i want to get right to the topic of north korea. you have been very critical of the president in the past especially when it comes to the fire and fury treats in the language used. i'm curious what transpired this week in summer attributing it to the language. >> we certainly have extremely important step forward and we should be hopeful. we shouldn't be overly optimistic given the history of the three presidents, past presidents. their optimism and effort. it's an important step forward in there some important reasons we need to understand how we got here. certainly the bluster by both kim jong un and by president trump may have created within both of their minds, maybe we had to move to diplomacy. i hope that is the case.
10:29 am
certainly the sanctions in which the united states, china, other countries involved are very important reasons and also one critically important fact is that north korea had completed its missile and its nuclear weapons program and have in place both missiles and nuclear bombs. that gives them a different negotiating posture going forward. >> i want to ask you about that. if you're willing to give up testing that's great. south korea has said north korean leader kim jong un plans to shut down the testing site and my question is why he could possibly have development where you don't need testing and that's very concerning. i want to bring in a statement by national security adviser. he made a comment and said i think we're looking at a 2003, 2004 situation. what type of assurance does that
10:30 am
give you going forward on how the u.s. will handle this? >> very, very carefully. and with a strong sense of the past failures to rein in north korea. understand north korea is a very dangerous country in kim jong un despite his current willingness to reach across the border and to put a very pleasant face forward is certainly not a pleasant person. he engages in murder, repression within this country. we cannot be starstruck or what have been. but we need to be realistic. we need to be firm and continue to use diplomacy to solve a very dangerous problem for that entire region. >> i'm so sorry we are getting cut off with all the breaking news. we appreciate you coming on.

leland: a fox news alert as we continue to watch the situation unfolding on the u.s.-mexican border in a caravan about 300 migrants arrived in tijuana, mexico and the migrants they are received a lot of coaching for immigration activists about what they should say once they reach the united states. we see there a number of them have now climbed the separation wall at the will of the fence between the united states in mexico. the building of a bigger border wall is tempting he talked about last night at his rally in michigan. we continue to watch it unfold in the border as these folks are going to prevent themselves to

u.s. immigration officials. one of the ideas behind this caravan was in their own words to overwhelm the asylum boards and as they all came to the border. we'll see how that plays out. the mexican side in the u.s. side will check into them as news warrants. >> i was invited to another event tonight. but i would much rather be in washington, michigan and washington d.c. right now. the white house correspondents dinner which the president labeled this morning is a big boring bus. ellison barber joins us now with more from the white house reaction. reporter: hi, liz. some think the comments, particularly those geared and aimed at sarah huckabee sanders, the white house press secretary who went in place of them pass the line. michelle wolf didn't just fail because she was back pakula really one-sided. it was because she was unnecessarily cool london at the white house correspondents association is trained to showcase decency and purpose, undermined and otherwise meaningful. kind of the main event of this dinner. others say that all of the controversy surrounding it, that is how it goes and is solely focused on journalism in the words and scholarships given out

at this dinner. they should've invited comedians. here's how the president of the white house correspondents association has raised on into some of the pushback. >> my aim in the way i thought to put together the program was to build spirit of unity in the room. >> by tradition, we do not vet their monologue. we don't censor it. we don't even see it. trenton washington, michigan, president trump took a few swings at the media. he also talked about midterm, economy, immigration, north korea and the top democrat on the veteran committee. >> throwing things they've heard. i know things about tester that i could say, too. and if i said them, he'd never be it again. >> president trump is still frustrated with comments that senator tester made in regard to the person he hoped would lead the va.
10:39 am
the white house doctor, admiral ronnie jackson as the secretary thomas president trump spoke. he reached out to point out that the president also talked about the va accountability act drafted by senator tester. trump said in part we've done a great job at their veterans. we have accountability approved. tester wrote the va accountability bill along with marco rubio and johnny isakson. he withdrew his name from and president trump said last night right now he's looking to five different candidates who want the job. >> ellison barber with the latest. thank you so much. >> let's look at the jokes last night given by "the daily show" writer whether or not it's family-friendly tv. while many say the personal jobs of press secretary sarah sanders crossed the line of even bad

10:41 am
the opportunity to shame her publicly, to have comedy without any humor and i think it really set the cause back. their cause was to make the american people think there was a real need to have a free press that is fair. they ruined that goal. >> let's look at this purely from the political standpoint. this is what -- >> he's doing his thing. i think he's doing a great job at getting out and talking to the people. turn to washington as a tough town. you have to have thick skin. if i know anything about sarah sanders come she does have thick skin. watcher on the podium. it would be hard to figure out a way that politically the president and his supporters didn't have a great night last night and the media and democrats inserted that liberal

the digital divide is splitting this country. we have parents who are trying to get their kids off of too much social media and computers, and then we have parents who would only hope their children have access. middle school is a really key transition point, right. the stakes start changing. students begin to really start thinking about their futures. what i like about verizon's approach is that it's not limited to just giving kids new tools, it's really about empowering educators to teach in different ways,
