million spending hundred 66,000 kids to better schools. >> that is it for this week. thank you to my panel and thank you all for watching. i am paul gigot. i hope to see you right here next week. >> a fox news alert. santa fe high school students now being let back their belongings get left behind in the chaos of yesterday's shooting which 10 people were killed. most of them students. this is police beginning to release the names of the victims murdered in the massacre. hello everyone welcome to "americas news headquarters". >> we are getting new details about the suspected gunman involved in the santa fe shooting. now as they have the deadliest school shooting 17th of february at marjory stoneman douglas high school in parkland, florida. the father of one of the

parkland victims sharing outrage over the tragedy this morning. >> will lowcountry say this enough? after 9/11, reform the tsa, we fixed that there hasn't been another hijacking since that event. what is it keep happening? it is kind of said that he is happening. >> will live with the latest. hi casey. >> hi julie. according to paperwork, the 17-year-old accused gunman is not only admitted to police that he carried out the shooting but elaborated saying that he did not shoot people that he liked because he wanted them to tell their story. officials have revealed that the shooter planned on committing suicide after carrying this attack out. but he was stopped and now he is behind bars. no bond. even though why remains the biggest question here, the community is rally.

look at this. long lines at a community blood drive today for the injured. and to help replenish area supplies depleted from multiple traumas. at a nearby church, now converted to a family resource center. for the next of kin and survivors only. grief counselors are there. american red cross, fbi victim services, down to help with general planning. the school district police chief at an earlier press conference discussing how his officers are doing despite the fact that one of their own was critically wounded. shot while trying to stop the attacker. >> officers have been very resilient and i don't think it has got to them yet. we allow the emotions to take control they are very well prepared. we go through drills, they have been through training.
1:03 pm
they are drilled all the time with students and staff. there prepared. >> drills apparently paid off yesterday but out of the 10 that was shot and killed during first period, starting an art classroom, totwo teachers and eight students. -- a foreign exchange student from pakistan has also been identified as being among the dead. about to finish of the school year, participating in a youth exchange study abroad program for students to learn about new cultures and new people and new ways of life. she is also among those dead. >> thank you.
1:04 pm
>> this has been going on too long in our country. too many years, too many decades now. we grieve for the terrible loss of life and cinema support and love to everyone affected. by this absolutely horrific attack. to the students families, teachers and personnel, at santa fe high school, we are with you in this tragic hour and we will be with you forever. my administration is determined to do everything in our power to protect our students. secure our schools, and keep weapons out of the hands of those who pose a threat. to themselves and to others. everyone must work together at every level of government to keep our children safe. >> the president calling for
1:05 pm
action following yesterday's school shooting. his assurances similar to those after the mass shooting in parkland florida. this is what the president said in february shortly after that attack. >> is not going to be talk like it has been in the past. it's been going on too long. too many instances. we will get it done. in addition, in addition to what we will do about background checks, we will get strong into age of purchase and also into the mental health. >> to discuss as we have gabby, white house correspondent for the examiner. everyone must work together to keep the children safe so the present. how does that translate into action? >> that is the biggest question that the administration is facing pete is hard to fathom the kind of frustration a lot of the parents of the parkland victims and non-victims of the santa fe school shooting or feeling at this point.
1:06 pm
the lack of action by the government despite the calls from the president, but then february, after the shooting occurred and yesterday saying that he wants to see action at quote - every level of government. and yet, we have seen private companies take steps to restrict certain people from purchasing firearms. we have seen the house take action passing a bill that would allocate $50-$75 million in funding per year for the next decade to prevent or ensure that school safety measures have been put into classrooms and on our schools. the senate has not done anything, the administration has yet to really take any concrete steps and i think they are going to find themselves in a position in the coming weeks where they really do have to make a decision on what comes next. >> in washington you expect people to retreat to their respective corners for some yelling about guns and others young about mental health. other those blaming violent
1:07 pm
video games. this time, will it be different? >> unfortunately, it is not just happening in washington. florida is a great example. after the parkland shooting, where the state legislator there pass a bill that would allow firearms to be concealed carried by teachers on college and high school campuses. it is something 11 second amendment proponents really back and thought would prevent school shootings from happening. at the same time, obviously, rick scott signed a bill that placed restrictions on firearm purchases and the types of accessories that can be used. in a lot of red states, after shootings it does occur, after massacres like this you see legislation that would ultimately listing the restrictions on guns because of the fear that the government is going to come and take them. as you said, people have a tendency after these tragedies occur to retreat to their corners. unfortunately, we have not seen really a pattern that has
1:08 pm
changed that in washington or in various states across the country. >> as a father, my heart aches for the center is a families. you send your kids to school, you expect them to be safe. where is the leadership in washington going to come from? both parties. >> like i said, it is just heartbreaking to imagine what the parents of these victims are going through. with the families and teachers that lost their lives, what they're going through knowing after every shooting previously that has occurred not much has been done. >> is also the political context. election year for the entire house of representatives and one third of the senate. generally means there is not much appetite by may or june for a major legislative push, right debbie? >> that is correct. if you go back to february when the president of the bipartisan roundtable at the white house, the democrats or republicans saying that yes, there is legislation we can come around then. i think right now we are feeling similar frustration that this is not going to happen. not only because it hasn't
1:09 pm
happened in the past but because a lot of these politicians are in precarious positions trying to get voters in the home district and do not want to be in a place with a backing legislation that will not be popular back home. >> also this afternoon breaking news on us china trade. what is your read on that? >> i think it might be some behind-the-scenes discussions happening. the president obviously shocked at my people a couple of weeks ago with the tweet on a sunday afternoon about zte. he has sent his delegation over to beijing pretty recently to encourage trade talks between china and the us. obviously he met with china early this week to talk about trade for this a long time coming. it is a positive development. especially head of the summit that is still likely to happen with the north korean leader but not totally sure at this point. certainly is a positive development for the administration but i think there is still a lot that needs to be done to satisfy the
1:10 pm
president when it comes to the trade imbalance with china. >> gary from -- gabby from the washington examiner, think you requested is the fbi planting espy in the 2016 presidential campaign for quote - political purposes. this among the report that the agency used an informant to meet with two trump campaign officials. carter page and george papadopoulos. molly is in washington with the latest. >> one of the presidents lawyers, rudy giuliani, says he does not know for sure if the fbi planted a spy in the 2016 trump campaign but the president seems more convinced of it. he tweeted yesterday quote - reports are they was indeed at least one fbi representative and planted for political purposes and to my campaign for president. it took place very early on and long before the phony russia hoax became a hot fake news story.
1:11 pm
this requested stories with two advisors. apparently meeting with carter page before the fbi officially open the investigation. some gop lawmakers want to know what was going on in the obama administration fbi. >> i am suggesting that one administration should have had five for the -- paid for by the other parties campaign, excusing by the clinton campaign and they should not do that. that is what i am suggesting. it looks like all of that happened. what we are asking for is give us information to show us. >> so for the justice department is not handed over documents on this. requested by republicans on the house intelligence committee. democratic senator mark warner, vice chairman of the senate intelligence committee said quote - it would be at best irresponsible and potentially illegal members of congress to
1:12 pm
use their position to learn the identity of an fbi source for the purpose of undermining the ongoing investigation into russian interference in our election. the spy apparently had provided information to the fbi and the cia for years. but it is not clear when information the informant may have given in this case. >> molly, thank you. >> first lady is back home at the white house after undergoing a kidney procedure earlier this week at the walter reed national military center. her office releasing a statement saying the first lady is resting comfortably and remains in high spirits. the president also tweeting about his wife today saying great to have our incredible first lady back home in the white house. she is feeling and doing really well. thank you for all of your prayers and best wishes. >> the european union, assuring iran ed wants to keep the nuclear deal in place after the president withdraws from the

european union working to salvage the iran nuclear deal. official telling to run you plan to stick with the agreement despite the presidents withdraw from the deal earlier this month. we are live in jerusalem with more. mike? >> in the big picture, this is the european union undermining the position the president has taken related to her man and the nuclear deal. the energy chief said today in tehran as long as the iranians stick to their end of the joint comprehensive plan of action, better known as the iran deal, europeans will stick to their end of the deal. which is a continuation of oil trade and investments but european leaders admits it hard to do without the involvement of the us. iran's end of the bargain involves halting the pursuit of nuclear weapons and curbing missile program. european leaders have called on tehran to limit the length of influencing nation exercises in

the region.>> the iran nuclear deal, we agree that the eu will stay in this as long as iran remains fully committed to it. >> president trump has long criticized the obama era iran deal. he campaigned on a promise to get rid of it. iran's nuclear chief, says that donald trump withdrawal shows the us is not a trustworthy partner. he threatens to restart the program which enriches uranium to medical grade 20 percent purity. that is a big step beyond 3 to 5 percent needed to generate power but less than what is needed for a weapon. this will put a lot of pressure on a reading president rouhani. his rivals have long criticized his inability to bring prosperity to iran. he and the ayatollah fear that continued economic hardship, the inability of the common man to afford less basic necessities could inspire another popular uprising which

they are very afraid of. back to you. >> mike, many thanks. julie? >> and other fox news alert on the korean peninsula. the us scrapping a military exercises south korea involving b-52 bombers. this comes after north korea threatened to pull out of next month's meeting between the president and kim jong-un in singapore. asia analyst gordon chang joined mina. thank you so much for talking to us. the scrapping of this plan training exercise. obviously at the hands of south korea. they were afraid that it might provoke more tension ahead of the summit between the president of the united states and kim jong-un. does this give north korea the upper hand? >> i do not think it does but certainly, it shows north korea has the upper hand over south korea. i think president moon is very sympathetic to north korea. to him the most important things is unification between
1:20 pm
the two koreas into one state. is not willing to do anything to antagonize the north koreans. some people say he is nacve. i am afraid he's just basically pro north korea. but with regard to the yes it does not give them the upper hand. we saw the military power and economic power. >> does not begin north korea conducted several missile tests for the past year. back in october, the suffering defense minister and james mattis came to an agreement that the regular drills needed to happen. now south korea completely changes course. they're going to find these b-52s from guam. the japanese and unisys south korean air forces? let's not forget the kim jong-un threatened he had a nuclear weapon capable of hitting guam. why let down our defenses now? >> i think first of all, it's a three there is a lot of antagonism with the japanese. any military exercises involving japan will be controversial in south korea. the south koreans take a very
1:21 pm
short-term view because the japanese are not the ones threatening south korea. it is basically north korea with the backing of china. south korea does not see it that way. but president moon is just pro north korea.he has been for the entire career. he has been trying to do things to make south korea more compatible with north theresa may can have a union. that is dangerous for us. >> it was interesting first of all, south korea has basically had its -- canceled by north torrey. kim jong-un feels like he is in the seat of power. because he is trying to send a message to the united states. mess with me and i will cancel your summit next. what did you think of john colton's remarks regarding the libyan model? comparing qaddafi that was killed after giving up his nuclear weapons. that was a bad move at this time after all of the work in this upcoming summit. >> at the end of april when he made those libyan model
1:22 pm
remarks, he could've just said love, our model is the north koreans give up all of their weapons up front and then we provide concessions later on. whatever. he did not say that. he used something which probably was in his mind, deliberately provocative. nonetheless, the north koreans sorted cited that as a reason why they stopped talks with south korea and maybe not to talk to us but that is not the reason because john bolton made those at the end of april. last week they released three americans. >> right! >> if this was the real probably would not have let those guys go. basically north korea wanted an excuse. i think for them, they want to blame us but they're really not angry with this. >> they are not fans of bolton. >> they are not fans but it could not have been the reason for north korea series of -- >> it goes back to kim jong-un playing games, again! here we are, we are halting
1:23 pm
literary drills? these are put in place for a reason. they are defense drills. in the case of an attack. and now the summit with the president and north korea is already being, it is also likelier to tap dancing around kim jong-un. >> we are still dealing with japan on the b-52s. >> south korea has just decided not to take part. >> i think the president is taking this right position. if i was donald trump i would say to kim jong-un, do you want to meet? yes or no. it should be that clear. >> do think that this will happen and ultimately what you think will come out of it? >> i think it will happen. they need sanctions relief. it might not be june 12 it could be later on in the year. it might not be in singapore, it could be someplace else. but i think they will occur. question 11 starkly on the 4th of july loosing a lot of nuclear testing. >> missile testing as well.>> yes. and then shooting off
1:24 pm
long-range missiles. it always happened to coincide with the 4th of july which is america states recognize freedom. i'm hoping this the 4th of july is much different than years past. >> i think i will be an optimist and think that it will be better. >> you mentioned, is very interesting to look at the timing. the fact that the three detainees were released, much like otto warmbier. that speaks volumes to the work the administration has done in changing relations between north korea, possibly for the very first time in such magnitude. >> you actually record otto warmbier less year came back and vegetative state that if you desire. these guys came back in very good condition. they walked on the planes themselves. that is an indication north korea understands they need goodwill from the president right now. >> were getting breaking news that china has landed a bomber in -- the south china sea for the very first time. what do we make of that? >> this is a violation of the
1:25 pm
chinese rosebush of president obama september 2015. in the rows done with the chinese said they would not militarize their islands in the south china sea. the chinese are villains but it is now up to the united states to prevent the chinese from doing that by imposing costly estimate of the chinese blinded a couple of american pilots in africa and we have not impose any consonant. that occurred two or three weeks it up in the chinese have been using lasers like they did in the south china sea. we need to tell a chinese restaurant, no military to military exchanges. we need to start expelling chinese diplomats because they have injured american service personnel for the first time since the end of the fighting in the korean war. this cannot go unnoticed. >> the president of china, he has, what would be considered a pretty healthy relationship with the president of the united states. yet, we still get news like this. what is going on between these two countries?
1:26 pm
and when is china finally going to get the message? the united states is not messing around so don't mess with what we are trying to fix. >> the chinese will get the message, don't mess around we actually start imposing this. we have been reluctant to do this across the whole range of issues. and so i think essentially this is an american issue. it is not a chinese issue. the chinese do not like is there trying to undermine the us. they're trying to rule the world. but we have got to stop them. we have the power to do that and american presidents after president trump have not done it, president trump is not exactly clear what is going on is because he too has been reluctant to cause the chinese and make them pay for very dangerous conduct. >> i just want to reiterate once again, the breaking news is coming in from china. these are coming from chinese sources. >> they're basically saying, we're doing this, what are you going to do about it? >> they are also reported as the nuclear capable bomb. >> yes i think it is the h6k.
1:27 pm
we have not done anything for a long time. especially in the obama administration. >> do not dare this administration. i think we've all learned. >> i would like to see president trump pushback on this. that is critically important. >> will continue to talk about this. thank you very much. always good to see you. >> thanks kimberly. >> today's armed forces day. we thank you for your service good is recognized every year on the third saturday of may to celebrate those who defend our nation. many events including parades are taking place across the country. the first armed forces day was celebrated in 1950 under president harry truman. we thank all our servicemen and women who keep us safe at home and overseas. >> investigator is looking into the cause of a plane crash that killed more than 100 people in cuba. a live report ahead. plus, congressional republicans looking to regroup following the defeat of the farm bill

1:34 pm
farm bill failed to pass. >> as it doesn't expire until september. we have plenty of time to do the farm bill. but if the discharge condition comes we will be dealing with that eminently next month. it is more important right now to prioritize immigration. we've been asking and waiting for this. >> every democrat in the house oppose this largely because of changes to the food stamp or snap program critically requirements for able-bodied adults to work or receive job training. the top democrat argued he could help deliverables are proposed that they were willing to ease requirements because equipment worked up. i am not happy. i'm not happy were in a situation. the on immigration but does not have a lot of support and has perfect force in the court on this there doings ahead of the race and putting pressure on the moderates to go on record

1:36 pm
and let's not forget the premiums on obamacare coming out weeks before the election for 2019. republicans have got to get the house in order. no pun intended. in order to record to run on that americans can say you deserve to stay in power. both in the house and the senate. >> the farm bill was a mess. physically because the farm bill was in a farm bill. it was a welfare bill. but what does that say about the effectiveness of house speaker paul ryan will be campaigning, fun race for the gop. if he was able to reach a deal of reform legislation maybe the gop is better off without him. >> i think you make an important point. presently say it's good news for working families and those across the country that this was defeated. it does bring into reflection why republicans should be worried in november. republicans control the senate and the house in the white house. yet, they've only really been able to pass one signature piece of legislation in power. which is a trillion plus dollar deficit spending tax cut that
1:37 pm
benefits the wealthiest americans at the expense of the middle class. >> i would say a lot of middle-class americans have been benefiting from the tax cuts. >> i think the border point that your reason, it is an important question. why did paul ryan choose to hold on to the gavel once he announced his retirement. should have stepped aside to allow them to coalesce around a new leader? he is facing a discharge petition what is potentially going to multiple immigration bills on the floor. most of which are far outside the mainstream americans support. it underscores important point which is, you a far right contingent in the house, the freedom carcass. that is sabotaging those actually could have bipartisan support. including the farm bill which historically has been supported by democrats and republicans as well as multiple immigration bills defeated by the far right. >> what happens come labor day. congress goes on recess without
1:38 pm
passing a farm bill and some immigration reform? >> i think will be a lot of explaining to do. chris will the farm bill is a welfare bill 80 percent is for food stamps and is a necessity that they get past. these are not bills that maybe we want to get past. these are bills we need to get past. i think it was a long strategy for republicans to hold this hostage. the democrats and being obstructionist but let's not comment republicans being obstructionist we have got to be the ones in power to get things done. there is no excuse for holding the bill hostage at this stage. >> what about immigration? how will forcing about the good or bad for either party when it comes to immigration? >> i think it's good news for democrats, bad news for house republicans. if you look at the republicans have signs in, most of the republicans are in school districts or districts that hillary clinton won. they will face really tough
1:39 pm
votes including the built in which the freedom carcass has been pushing for for consideration. it will face very tough votes again on a bill that is far outside the mainstream in terms of what americans are willing to support for immigration reform and the reality, the site will not take this off before november. all of a sudden your past monitors that are exposed to these both going into a really tough midterm cycle. >> let's talk about moderates. because moderate republicans entering districts want to vote on the reform and the dreamers. the problem is the dream act is not secure the borders now does it address the board of crisis. you democrats not see that, while they eventually, somehow see that? the border crisis is something that was in fact, very much a cause. they were insistent upon in the past administration. now it seems that it is becoming more about dreamers than our borders. >> the resistance movement against the president, the president ran and won on
1:40 pm
securing the border and making sure that america is secure. democrats cannot get that. and to add insult to injury, the democratic mayors supporting sanctuary cities. and in effect giving aid and comfort to those breaking our laws. i think we have a tremendous issue with immigration that republicans can run on but we cannot run on it if we fighting amongst ourselves. >> one thing is for sure. it could have been a daca bill. but the obstructionists -- >> hang on, i'm sorry. [multiple speakers] >> called on. >> most republicans and democrats have called upon this for the dreamers for the area of disagreement is on cuts to legal immigration. gutting legal immigration to a point it will be historic and unprecedented. the president failed to point spending the omnibus.
