1:16 am
heather: let's begin with the tweet that pompeo sent out on iran on friday, weport the iranian people who are demonstrating against oppressive government, three deaths an interruptions show the regime's true nature, what do you expect from him today? >> yeah, what i think he will try to do is say, hey, what president trump has said why he didn't like this because he wasn't comprehensive enough despite name of jcpoa and want to include nuclear weapon's program as well as the missile program and nefarious activities in syria and elsewhere with supporting of terrorism. the problem is i'm not really sure that that's going to work out very well for us because i really wish we hadn't gotten out of the deal, we possibly could have been able to work to tighten, now that we have reduced flexibility and our possibly even taking out the eyes and ear that is we had from the outside, it's going to be a really heavy lift to come close
1:17 am
to what we had. heather: that's interesting, another thing you believe is iran is actually much weaker than we -- we constantly hear about? >> yes, that's a fact. as a matter of fact, i had lunch not long ago with a friend of mine who was kicked out of iran when the shaw fell who absolutely despise it is iranian regime and yet he's telling me, talking about regime change is the absolute worst thing that can happen because already rohani, the president of iran suffered greatly internally with his own politics because he promised all these things at jcpoa would bring and hasn't and the people really rose in large part earlier, you know, several months ago because they said why is our government spending all this time and money in syria and lebanon and all the other places and not spending it here, so they want domestic reform and they don't want all the foreign things, that works in our favor. heather: i was going to say, seems like they would definitely work in our favor.
1:18 am
we don't have a whole lot of time, i want to move onto second topic, president trump meeting with south korean president tomorrow as, of course, kim jong un is making new demands, what are your thoughts on this? >> yeah, that's completely expected. from the beginning, even from the olympics when everything seemed to be charm offensive, there was no chance that he was just going to have worked all this time to have nuclear weapon since 2011 and all of a sudden walk in and hand it over. it was expected that he was setting things to look up with way and now try to throw the negotiating realm like they've done in every time since, however, what the thing that americans need to know the most, we still maintain negotiating position. president trump has the cards on this because overwhelming conventional and nuclear deterrent will keep americans safe no matter what kim jong un does. president trump doesn't have to have a deal. kim jong un does have to because he has to get sanctions lifted.
1:19 am
heather: bottom line, do you think the june 12th meeting will happen, do you think he will come to the cable? >> he may, i agree with the president that if he doesn't, it doesn't. we don't have to have it but kim jong un definitely needs it. i think that we will see coming off because if it doesn't those sanctions don't get lifted and he stays in trouble. heather: what president trump said what happens what happens. thank you so much for joining us this morning. >> you bet, thanks for having me. heather: 20 minutes after the top of the hour, stepping up the pressure, the president to reslees spy documents, blowing the lid off the case this one and many others since day one, why he says that everything needs to be declassified right now. and stalk your friends in two hours or less, new proposal to limit the amount of time that kids spend on facebook.
