throughout the hour. we have some great stuff in store for you but let's go to our top story. we begin with the battle over border policies reach researching a boiling point, hammering democrats for crying foul over family separation but refusing to make an immigration deal. griff jenkins live from the processing center in texas as the president prepares to meet with lawmakers. >> the border patrol processing ctr. ground 0 where we have seen such disturbing images coming out, families being separated, the administration saying they are simply following the law and that is why the secretary of homeland security took to the white house briefing room to defend what the administration is doing. >> this entire crisis just to be

clear is not new. it has been occurring over many decades but currently it is the exclusive product of loopholes and federal immigration laws, from being detained and removed to their home country. >> secretary nielsen is talking about three loopholes, the first has to do with george w. bush, trafficking victims prevention reauthorization act, and they point to a 1700% increase over the last decade. the third goes back to the bill clinton administration in a florida settlement which provided for keeping families together and secretary nielsen needs funding, either way donald trump continues to blame democrats for what we see on our screens every day.

about. it has been going on for a while. closer to finding two dangerous inmates when they are spotted on the run. witnesses seeing zachary jock and johnny tipton in illinois. drones and canines to search the area, they escaped from jail by breaking a whole in the concrete wall with the pike, the third inmate has been caught. one of the men on the run is an accused murderer. a good guy with a gun who stopped is a pastor, and a man with a lengthy criminal history. and in a walmart parking lot and that victim receiving emergency medical help from the pastor, he remains in critical condition. the other big story, the

director of the fbi and doj inspector general back in the hot seat this morning, now they will be grilled by members of the house and james comey could be next after lawmakers learn he is under investigation for leaking. don't know about everybody else but i was glued to my tv watching this unfold. >> the justice department inspector general and current director of the fbi taking heat on the house side after finishing a similar session on the senate side but former fbi director james comey could be watching this with intense interest and the ig indicated comey could be in legal peril for leaks of classified information. >> this is the second time since he was fired that mr. comey refused an invitation to testify voluntarily. he has time for bookstores and

the dhs secretary. what did you think of what she had to say in response to children being separated from their families? >> i think the administration is spot on, it is the byproduct of several events since 2008 and going back to the clinton administration and this happened under the obama administration and ultimately they are simply defending the law, enforcing the law we have enacted through congress and trying to do it in the context of several factors, a court decision the clinton administration went into and the anti-trafficking law which is abuse and exploited by traffickers and cartels, trying to stop illegal immigration and protect the kids. there is a solution, there's a way to fix this. patty: 1 you said is correct, the numbers back it up, 314% increase in illegals crossing the border claiming to be a

family unit in the last 5 months. other numbers over the past ten years, there's a 1700% increase in asylum claims resulting in backlog of 600,000 cases and we can't always tell for sure if these adult coming in with children are related to them. >> the immigration system is strange but if one part is flawed it ripples through the system so people can make phony asylum claims if they think they are bringing a minor, traffickers use kids they get special treatment and that is why for most of my lifetime people crossing the border were young unmarried men. now it is whole families because there are loopholes they can get special treatment, we have created these loopholes, sent the signal. democrats for whatever reason

are looking at language in the house, coming up this week, ryan's amnesty bill, it does have provisions in it, democrats want to work on a solution there is one. keep families together, expedite, send them back as a family unit unless it is a legitimate asylum thing, small number, most of this is flat-out immigration fraud and illegal immigration and if you want people pouring across the border keep letting people who bring minors across the border. >> they repeatedly asks this question yesterday, is it possible for the president to separate this element of concern out of everything else? and vote separately on separating children from their families? >> the core of the problem is the democratic party does not want to give donald trump anything he wants with respect to what he campaigned for and promised the american people.

what was your take in terms of the hearing? >> there were two big take aways was horowitz's support cast a dark cloud over the fbi agency and it extends over the clinton handling of the clinton investigation but here is the rub. democrats would have us believe that we can absolutely take no inferences from horowitz's findings to suggest the genesis of the russian investigation, how it started to begin with was riddled with political bias, the james comey is a bad actor all the way through, horwitz report didn't exist, it was james comey who triggered the prosecutor and

that peter stzrok didn't exist and horowitz said there were implications that senior federal employees were willing to use their official position to impede the presidential electoral process meaning people at high levels were willing to do that. >> those two take aways kathy mentions. >> facts would have us believe it was funny the biggest thing i took from this, the grandstand on that. and they should be held to the law. and investigated by republican congress for two years, there was something to do wrong, put them in jail, as easy as that.

heather: outrage is boiling over after an anti-police extremists is invited to speak to children for career day, the principal retiring as parents demand to know why he was invited in the first place. todd pyro is here with details.

>> reporter: that principle personally invited anti-police activist ethan e those to speak to kids at chicago public school. he is a self-described radical who routinely post violent anti-police rhetoric online. not like his platform should be a shock. after a chicago police commander was shot and killed execution style, he posted online blank him and his family, not saying what the blank means. and an apology letter to parents, she brought in egos to talk about his poetry and civic work but went off the rails, quote, i was present when his narrative took a negative turnabout policing at which point i intervened, i care about your children and would never intentionally expose them or endorse this negativity but that explanation did not sit well with parents. >> look on his facebook account, some of them are horrible.

>> i was very disappointed that someone would come into this school and preach hate about the police. >> reporter: them parents say she brought him and because she was pressured to introduce anti-police philosophies to students. heather: going to be a lot of comments on that one. google trying his hand at another venture using artificial intelligence to predict whether a hospital patient will live or die. is this really a good direction for the medical world to be heading. dr. mark siegel, thank you for joining us. i think this is incredibly odd and i don't think i would want to do this but this algorithm put together by google is 95% accurate predicting whether a patient would pass away within 24 hours of being admitted to

the hospital where otherwise the hospital, 86% rate. >> it is absurd, i think it is obscene. let me say the idea of artificial intelligence and what google is doing is not a bad thing because it can help doctors to make diagnoses faster. heather: is a bad thing in that respect? >> i have taken care of patients for many years and i don't know when a patient is going to die even using all my ideas and everything i know about the patient and the disease. this new treatment coming down the pike every single day can change that equation. i don't want to take away patient's hope by saying according to google you have a day left. it is not accurate. it takes away hope. hope contributes. heather: in terms of accuracy, the data it is using, ethnicity, age, gender, previous diagnosis, lab results in vital signs.

>> data can be useful to help predict how patient is going to do but that is not the same as saying they are going to die. what is helpful is reach a point were treating a patient, time to back off or to try a different approach. you never can predict that when a patient is going to die nor should we. it is the art of medicine to say looking for a medical medical miracle or a new treatment we are going to try that we never tried before or this just got approved we pass right to try legislation for terminal patients, this machine says you are gone. of the 20 really good point. takes away hope. >> and the latest advances we use on a personalized basis. really bad idea but google, artificial intelligence can be a great tool for doctors but using it to make final pronouncements is ridiculous. heather: the good tools.
