such an interesting figure, he's the lynchpin, he worked on clinton investigation as well as the early stages of russia probe. reports that he was escorted out of fbi headquarters. the indications are at this point that he still has a job but that generally bode well for one's career, during lengthy yesterday in capitol hill, the justice department inspector general confirmed that strock is part of another investigation looking into possible bias at the fbi. the ig had reported that strzok sent a text message to another fbi employee saying that donald trump will not win presidency because he said, quote, we will stop it. >> and these exact same fbi agents and attorneys prejudged the outcome of the russia investigation before it even began. >> do you believe this text shows political bias?

>> i think as we found it it clearly shows bias state of mind. >> if so do you believe the political bias by the text had effect on the initiation russia investigation? >> i think as you know, mr. chairman, that's a matter we have under review and are looking at right now. >> all right, well, strzok could face issues here. here is what his attorney wrote in usa today. pete and others at the fbi went out to prevent leaks and weeks before the election actively ensured that news reports did not overplay the seriousness of the investigations. these aren't actions of partisan conspirator, as for strzok's current stage, attorney says he remains a proud fbi agent. rob and jillian. jillian: fascinating to see if we do hear from him, thank you. rob: after meeting with house republicans, president trump pledging full support for both republican immigration bills but democrats are vowing to derail

of yet here in texas, guys. rob: vote on immigration bill later this week, thank you so much. jillian: images of the border are heartbreaking to many regardless of party affiliation and president trump is putting pressure on congress to solve separation issue. rob: but ryan patrick, u.s. attorney for the southern district of texas is setting record straight about the families with legitimate claims for asylum. >> what we have seen over the last 4 years is five fold increase, 75,000 family units crossing the border and mainly concentrated in the mcallen area and what the attorney general's prosecute all cases by border patrol. to clarify something that's being misstated and misinterpreted. the department of justice is not involved at all with people who present themselves at a port of entry, at one of the bridges to claim asylum legally. we are getting referrals from

border patrol and other agencies who catch people who are crossing the border illegally. they can then make asylum claim or any other claim they believe they have after prosecution. rob: the push to secure the border comes as the u.s. sees a surge in asylum claim with 27% increase in 2017 alone. jillian: north korea now preparing to send the remains of up to 200 american service members killed during korean war. more than 36,000 americans died in the war. close to 7700 remain unaccounted for. about 5300 of those were lost in north korea. the exact time of the handoff is still in the works. it comes after president trump and kim jong un's historical meeting this month in singapore. kim jong un wrapping up a surprise visit to beijing today. the north korean dictator spending two days in talks with chinese president, the two going over details of nuclear summit with president trump, in the meantime president trump mike

pompeo has canceled briefing with lawmakers about the summit, he had been planning to give members of senate update of historic agreement today. rob: live look at capitol hill in just a moment as president trump's top trade adviser prepares to take the hot seat today. there it is, commerce secretary wilbur ross before the senate committee this morning as u.s. and china go back and forth on trade tariffs on monday president offered another 10% tariff if china follows through on threat of retaliation and yesterday we saw the market take a dive in response to all of that. ambassador nikki haley sticking it to the un as the u.s. ditches the human rights council. >> for too long the human rights council has been a protector of human rights abusers and the council seizes to be worthy of its name. such a council, in fact, damages the cause of human rights.

rob: calling the un out. haley calling for ignoring the beaus and chronic bias against israel. news conference, u.s. is open to rejoining u.s. council if those problems are fixed. jillian: look at your screen that looks like snow, doesn't it? it's not. that's actually hail blanketing the ground in colorado. rob: you can see it falling there. hail, some of it was the size of baseballs denting cars, smashing rooftops. jillian: chattering the windshield of cop car, look at that. rob: giant funnel cloud touching down northeast of denver, the tornado did not cause any major damage. jillian: meteorologist janice dean with a look at today's storms. janice: beautiful to see

tornadoes as long as they don't hurt anybody and we leash from them, science is amazing, so the potential for severe weather today, again, across the plain states, not as severe as we saw yesterday, you can see where the cooler air is across portions of the rockies and the west coast and then as you move forwards the central u.s., that's where we get the showers and thunderstorms and the threat for severe storms, also want to point out, we have a a lot of flooding going on across texas and louisiana, tropical moisture, we don't think it'll get a name but it is going to bring the potential for more heavy rainfall, not only today but through the next couple of days, so, again, this is an area that was hard hit by harvey last year, the houston area down towards corpus christi, we will be watching that. the rest of the forecast, we have warm hot temperatures across the south, southeast and plain states, and tomorrow my friends is the first official day of summer. jillian: rob had a question

jillian: good morning to you and welcome back, food stamp enrollment plummet as america's employment skyrocket. rob: to help us break down some of the biggest economic headlines is columnist and former wall street financial analyst liz peek, thank you so much for coming on this morning. >> my pleasure, talking about good news. rob: we have food stamp enrollment now. most people out there working, right? >> that is message to policymakers out there, the best social welfare policy for sure is a full employment economy and that's what we've got. incredibly job market and convicted felons are being hired now, a black unemployment and hispanic unemployment, good news for people who used to be on

food stamps rolls, those start today decline in 2013 but certainly the trump economy has accelerated the down trend and more than 2 million people have left the food stamp rolls since trump took office, that's incredibly impressive accomplishment, i think. jillian: it is, you mentioned first of couple numbers, you mentioned 2 million plus people stopped using food stamps since trump took office and how do we keep this going? >> well, i think all of the policies that are in place, tax cuts were incredibly formative in terms of creating the job's boom and the deregulation, you mentioned nfib earlier, a group that loves donald trump because more than anything, small business managers were beside themselves with the tsunami regulation that came out of the obama white house. trump rolling that back has been complete green light to managers and owners of small businesses

who now report expansion plants unseen in 47 years of history. i mean, these are really extraordinary readings of the optimism of small business managers who make up about half of the economy. that's kind of a big deal. rob: we will talk more about them in a minute. we want to get to dissatisfaction of the united states. this is a big number, improvement of year's past, am i crazy to think that this is not that great of a number. doesn't look that good on paper but it is good, right? >> actually in lead with long-term average satisfaction, i guess apparently only about 38% of the people in the country are usually satisfied with the direction of the country but what is trying is that we never reached this level under president obama even in spite of personal popularity, he never got this high, certainly some of it is the economy. obama had 7 more years to be president and to pull the economy out of recession and to make people more excited about

their prospects and he never managed to get it done. what's interesting too, i have to say, is this is a very partisan reading. i think republicans are 68% are satisfied with the direction of the country, only about 13% of democrats. so -- rob: you won't get fair number either. >> for them the glass is still very much half empty. jillian: you mentioned short time ago, president trump addressed them yesterday in honor of 75th anniversary this week. what did you make of what he had to say? >> i thought he gave typical trump speech, it was really rosing. when he's in front of audience that approves of what he's doing he's at his best. i thought, by the way, the roll out of new healthcare insurance plan for groups that can ban together and cross state lines were incredibly powerful. if these businesses have one big issue, really, is health care

handcuffing the cops, jackie ibañez with the plan that law enforcement officials say could cost them their lives, what's this about, jackie? >> this comes when attacks on police are at ep bem dick proportion, california state senate committee sending bill through with vote of 5 to 1, legislation elevates the standard for using deadly force from reasonable to necessary. this would change existing standard of reasonable fear where police are allowed to use deadly force but only if the officers fear for their own safety. propolice groups say new law could make officers hesitant to approach suspects out of fear they could later be prosecuted. >> it always blows me away when law enforcement fear for their life only when they are facing black and brown people. and blows me away that black and brown women and men don't even get to the jail, they don't even get a chance to be arrested.

jillian: state police association wrote, if our police cannot advance in dangerously situation, ultimately everyone involved is placed at higher risk that is. the measure headed for another committee, if it is eventually passed, california would be the first state to create such tough restrictions on police officers. i know we always say it's a tough time to be a police officer, what are people saying about that jackie. >> most of you disagreeing with proposal. the idea of restriction to use of force is handicap to law enforcement, the law should be for protecting the law enforcement not hindering them and linea writing on facebook, the politicians can start by giving up their own security and fend for themselves and thomas saying this, tell the police to quit and move to a state to support their profession. rob, jillian. rob: all right, jackie, thank

jillian: good wednesday good morning, welcome back to "fox & friends first". doj inspector general confirming he's investigating antitrump fbi agent peter strzok and whether bias had impact on beginning stages of the russia investigation. rob: we are now learning the embattled agent was escorted out of fbi headquarters so has the credibility of bob mueller's probe now been compromised? jillian: here to weigh in fox news senior judicial analyst judge andrew napolitano. thank you for joining us this morning. >> thank you for having me in brand-new studio. jillian: look, when horowitz -- believes they showed bias, i think it clearly shows bias state of mind, how do you have bias state of mind but not let it affect work? >> i don't know how you can split that hair but remember, the inspector general didn't say he found no bias, he found a lot of bias, he just found that the law enforcement decisions were

not animated by it. jillian: how is that not impacted? >> because in the mind set of law enforcement they despise their targets, jay edgar hoover hated the mob, hated communists, hated bank robbers, hated crooked politicians. in their mind their job is not to be fair, it's to gather evidence about bad guys and pass that evidence onto prosecutors and let the courts and the juries concern themselves with the fairness, but whether political bias, dislike of someone because of their politics made or contributed to the ultimate decision to prosecute or not prosecute, mike horowitz whom i know and respect, appointed by president bush, reappointed by president obama, confirmed by republican senate confirmed by a democratic senate as inspector general has come to the conclusion that the bias was there but it wasn't so overwhelming that it animated the decision. what's the decision? the decision not to investigate

hillary clinton. we haven't even gotten to what do these people do to try and stop donald trump from becoming president. after that, it's what did these people do to try and prevent donald trump from being president after he already was in office or still at the very early stages of why was hillary exonerated. was it for political reasons, mike horowitz says there's plenty politics but made a legal decision on hillary. i disagree with the decision, i don't know if the politics are there, i will give the benefit of the doubt to horowitz. rob: that's just the hillary investigation. we have the whole thing spinning off into horowitz looking into the mueller investigation and whether or not peter strzok took what a lot of people take weak evidence in dossier and at least tried -- >> i don't think -- i know you want me to answer this, i don't think whatever hops to strzok --

happens to strzok matter in mueller probe. he got a job in hr, from which he was apparently, we don't know yet, apparently fired yesterday. his tweets have gotten him in trouble but the government has done the right thing when they learned about them. jillian: there are a number of recent fbi-doj depastor and we have a whole list of them. among them peter strzok is demoted, still there, that's one of those glaring things right now. >> the demotion -- jillian: maybe, as of now anyway. >> the demotion is what i was talking about a few moments ago. bob mueller said you can't work for me. we don't know what the status is this morning. i have to tell you if he was escorted out of the building, the badge and gun were taken from him and the guy escorting them had badges and guns on them. so he probably was fired. we will find out this morning. jillian: my question is, do you think that he should be fired,

again, we don't know the status this morning, do you think anyone else needs to go? >> well, remember, the government has a lot of statutes that protect people from being fired because of their political opinion. so he would be fired if he made law enforcement decisions for the wrong basis for a nonlaw enforcement reason and we don't know if he did that yet but we know that something yesterday that wouldn't have dramatic, they don't escort you out for the heck of it. jillian: just for fun. rob: we have to get to comey and talk about leaking memos to his buddy, personal memos. >> this is investigation by mike horowitz not whether jim comey broke the law but whether he violated department of justice regulations. if in that investigation they found violation of law they will pass it onto attorney general sessions. i don't think there was violation of the law. i don't know if there was a violation of doj regulations. rob: you don't see much happening to james comey? >> i don't. jillian: as of now.

>> i know the president can't stand him but i don't know where the comey is going to go. i don't see any evidence of crimes. you look terrific in this room. jillian: thank you.
