spends between 70 to 80% of their energy comes from russia, so then why are we spending money to protect them from russia when they are spending billions of dollars with russia. makes sense? >> absolutely. we warned the germans and others not to develop a dependence on russia for natural gas, they had other alternatives and took the cheap way out which the germans like to do. they complained about steel tariffs, their steel mills are security risk because there are allies, there's absolutely security risk. if war broke out in europe, i don't know that we would be able to stop them before they got to grind, eventually we can deal with russians but it'll take a long time to get yankees to stop them. the troops aren't enough because we can only afford to put so much. it's up to the germans to defend themselves. heather: we have been hearing for a while that the spending is unfair when it comes to defense spending with nato and nato

countries must pay more. so, i mean, president trump obviously he's already set the ground work that he will go after them, he will go after them hard, is that the correct thing to do? >> absolutely, he sent a letter to many european leaders basically saying you have to spend and the leader in belgium which spends less than 1% of gdp. it's about .7 compare today our 3.5 on defense, oh, it's hard to take letters like this seriously. they just assume that at the end of the day, like a younger brother, you know, leeches off the older brother that we will show up. well, there's limit to ability to show up. we have pressures on us in asia and so forth, the north korea problem, you know, there's only so many yanks to go around. when they say the yanks are coming, i mean, what about the germans. the germans won't even fight. they have the constitutional restrictions, they didn't

participate in gulf other than put water around. heather: china hitting back with $200 billion u.s. tariff threat i should say, 200 billion-dollar threat calling totally unaccept -- unacceptable. what do you expect them to be? >> they just respond in kind and they can be more effective. the other thing they can do, they can print money, they don't have laws, subsidize industry so we don't feel it, the president is talking about 10% tariff on $200 billion, they manipulate currency and value the yawn, we will hit the chinese harder and i've told the administration this if we expect to get results, the tariffs are inadequate to move china, for example, we should impose sanctions just the way we do on

which by the way the nfl is going to find every way it can to become dead in the waters if possibly can. i'm not sure many people are missing it at this point. i don't think the guy should come out and put it on the arizona cardinals website or social media pages and i agree with michael, he's a non-- kavanaugh is being hopefully confirmed in a position that's a partisan position, it's not like he's running for president. liberals came out in force when gregg popovich in the nba bashed president trump, they were all for that. he was not the only -- gm for the new york yankees came out on the same letter and said we agree with this man's character, coming out and making a statement on behalf of somebody's character is far from campaigning or stumping for someone. heather: kathy, the nfl will still be making political statement by allowing players to stay in the locker room in terms of the national anthem. that's still a political statement. >> which the players union is not happy about, which trump

seems to agree with, so the players and trump agree on this one. they're not happy with this kneeling for the anthem or staying in the player's room, so no one seems to like roger gadell on this one, i don't think either side is happy with that. i think everyone can agree that no one wants to see politics on the field. heather: what type of society is it, michael, when you can't support one side or the other, when you can't just publicly come out and say, hey, i support this, or i support that because of fear of the backlash that you'll get? >> oh, yeah, absolutely. i think that víctor cruz is perfectly entitled to be in a campaign for barack obama, lebron james can do whatever he wants. the question with kaepernick is he's attacking the country itself which is clearly in violation of not only rules of the nfl but in violation of the spirit of sports. but i'm all for that, people can have speech, the left is trying to restrict speech, they write

even though i was active military at the time. heather: some people think that you were. >> no, i was not subject under the more ucmj, i was punished in civilian. it's upsetting a lot of people think, he was held to different standard because he was in the military, that's not the choice that they made, very much so was she eligible to be prosecuted under the same law based off of how the law was explained to me at the time. once again, i accept the responsibility, i made a my take, i served my year in prison and president trump pardoned me because he felt what happened to me was harsh and i totally agree but i was willing to accept responsibility. all i'm asking that the people that held me accountable, they held themselves accountable. they're having issues doing that. heather: you pled guilty and accepted responsibility, you did not say that you did anything wrong, you admit that you did, you served 12 months in federal prison but then the president pardoned you, why not just leave it at that? >> well, i could have done, you know, i could have moved on with my life, i have a great job and a great family and i could have

went on living the american dream thanks to president trump, but i think that all americans need to be concerned about what happened here because it's a bigger issue than just me, you know, the fact that these people are above the law or allow today exercise the laws in a manner which keeps them above them is upsets -- upsetting and i feel obligated as patriot as american to stake a stand not for myself but the american people. i would drop this lawsuit tomorrow if they would hold those people in government to the same standard that they hold average americans like myself. if they're willing to do that i'd settle the lawsuit for dollar and indictment but -- heather: a dollar and indictment. you're representing yourself, so what happens next? >> well, what happens next is we are going to go to discovery, i'm going to put information, i want to see what exactly was their process, thought processing taking my case out of the military courts where it

should have been handled and thrusting into civilian court so they can make a national spectacle of me. peter strzok was heading counterespionage unit which the unit that prosecuted me right from washington, d.c. so i want to see what he was doing and what he had to say about my case, he obviously had a lot to say about hillary clinton and the russia investigation, so i want to see the texts involving me, i want to see emails to james comey and loretta lynch. heather: you want to see people go to jail? >> i'm sorry? heather: do you want to see people go to jail? >> well, no, i want them to be held as same standard as me, if they don't get sentenced or go to jail, but at least let them be prosecuted, let them go through same legal process i did otherwise how can we say we have a true justice system in the country. heather: all right. >> the laws should be applied evenly to everybody and not just the little guy. heather: good point. thank you so much for joining
