who thinks the koran is leading them to do these things? like dealing with a suicide bomber, they are willing to die. how do you win in that negotiation? >> there is no win but we have a corrupt government in afghanistan so how is that a win as well? do we become another government, another empire that dies in the graveyard of afghanistan trying to stand up to this corrupt government? at some point, the television deals directly with the united states, a good sign but if we walk away too soon they are back in full control and it has all been for nothing. jillian: do you see this ending anytime soon? >> in my honest opinion know. i think we are as you said 17 years later, 17 commanders later for afghanistan, at some point it has to end but i'm not sure this is the right time. rob: we had two big summits, north korea and russia.

gender. jillian: 1000 survivors of the las vegas massacre are being sued by mgm resorts, a move that is spiking major back lash. joining me to break down the lawsuit is criminal defense attorney david bruno. thank you for joining us this morning. how is this possible? >> this is a federal law. they passed the support antiterrorism by fostering technology act. what it does is encourages private companies to hire security companies that are certified by the department of homeland security. in the law it says if the companies do hire them, the security companies, they will be shielded from lawsuits. that is the basis. they are not seeking damages from the victims. they are seeking court clarification this law protects them from being sued by victims in federal court.

jillian: is it worth the public relations nightmare that i assume would spiral from that? >> you can imagine the amount of viability they could have if not shielded. there have been 2500 lawsuits or threatened to file lawsuits and how much money can possibly be owed. is this a public relations nightmare? absolutely. it was in october at the shooting itself. this is take 2. not good, not good whatsoever. jillian: a pretty tough thing right now. >> one part of federal law requires them to have insurance. they have insurance to pay the victims and the security company is liable. the law does not protect the security company. jillian: mgm claims no liability, quote, plaintiff has no liability to defendant's or any of them arising from the

attack. and the attorney for the victims response, quote, i have never seen a more outrageous thing where they sued the victim to find a judge they like. it is really sad they would stoop to this level. >> they are picking federal court because in the law it says federal court has exclusive jurisdiction. also i think there may be a way out for victims. this is a very specific thing, paddock came into the mgm hotel before. 20 plus suitcases with guns and ammo. is the intention of the statute? probably not. they didn't think there would be a tower, the person was coming in days before. how do they involve that days

you say this is typical big government democrat welfare here's your $500 a month don't worry about a thing, just vote for me, right? >> i am from chicago, grew up in poverty in chicago and got in politics in chicago. a plan like this when it comes to city councilmembers. the mayor has a low approval rating, 30%. the election is coming up soon. i see this as $500 a pop. this is obviously very targeted to the african-american community, studies showing 70% of african-americans didn't earn a living wage and 60% of latinos didn't earn a living wage. this is a smack in the face to folks who need help by way of programs that can benefit them in job training so they can earn a living wage versus be handed

i get it, but i am not sure $500 is the way to go. we need to put people in a position where they have a lifetime of success with generational stability and not short-term gains and long-term dependency. rob: if you talk to a few tech billionaires who think this is a good idea, elon musk says in the future it will be necessary for universal basic income because artificial intelligence is going to take all of our jobs or great majority of our jobs. what you think that comment? >> let me talk to rochelle because she is talking about talking points. i never once said i didn't support welfare. welfare is good in a temporary sense, not permanent. when we talk about programs that can help people i think people

like dana blair who i worked with when i was 16 years old and worked for the social security administration who got a job by way of welfare reform in 1996 which allows you to keep your welfare benefits can also get a job and permanently get off the system. more programs like this to move communities of color. when we talk about this issue it is not about handouts but a handout. give me an opportunity, allow me to move so i am not dependent on the government to take her generation after generation as we see in chicago oftentimes. rob: that was bill clinton's welfare reform. >> newt gingrich, both of them together. >> this is not welfare. this is whether you make $30,000 a year or $120,000 a year. we need to be clear. >> that is government assistance.
