bill to keep open that would be preferably with standoff with democrats. this comes after mcconnell told kentucky radio station on friday, funding for wall will likely wait after midterms. now, reaction from democrats to the president's threats suggest things could escalate. >> this president is a bully and he'll try to intimidate all of us, he's not going to shut down anything. we are not going to be intimidated by his bluffing and his bullying. >> even some republicans were cautioning the president over a shutdown. >> i think hopefully most of the appropriation bills will actually be passed, a little prioritization spending, so i certainly don't like playing shutdown politics. >> a major consideration now is how this might affect the process for supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh who republicans hope to confirm around the same time as budget deadline. the president has several events

2:13 am
>> absolutely. whole intent of tsa the quiet sky's program is to quietly monitor u.s. passengers and report on some of their in-flight, characteristics seen as suspicious or some of their behavior is suspicious to law enforcement officials and then they would use some of the small teams to follow them, you know, these are individuals that they are looking at that don't have terrorist links, kind of fits in the gray area, the whole intent really is to make the skies safer and especially in this post-911 terror travel, it's fantastic that the organizations including tsa are collaborating with community and sharing information and really trying to determine if there's an issue that needs to be looked at further. jillian: bret, i'm on the mind set that we are being watched all of the time, cameras in a lot of street corners, you see them all over the place, to those people who say, i don't like to idea of this, what would you say to them?
2:14 am
>> i mean, of course, you're always being watched. i'm waiting for tsa to get drones but at the same time it's a part of it, look, most people haven't traveled overseas, we are lucky to have organizations like the tsa that are looking out for this, i just got back from somalia and i got to tell you, you are going through some of the airports over there, if you remember not too long ago, the airport in somalia where somebody was able to smuggle a laptop bomb and intent oncoming to strike here news the u.s. but fortunately they blew up the bomb before it could get here. it's almost embarrassing how easy it is to smugged, we can't rely on foreign organizations to help us out here and that's why it's so critical that agents like the tsa are there, if you were to see some other the airports you would be hugging and kissing agents instead of rolling your eyes every time they bring you in to secondary. >> if it hasn't been done

already, aclu is going to be up in arms over this and some libertarian republicans i imagine don't like this, what's the response to them? >> they are morons, fourth amendment doesn't protect people in this case, there's no reasonable expectation of privacy when you're talking an airport setting and so, you know, when they are sitting about human rights abuses they need to understand the consequences of this and so, you know, for me it's really important that we continue to programs like this, we continue to collaborate so we don't have a situation like we had, you know-previously where people are attacking on american soil. good to see you. >> time now 15 minutes after the hour, convicted terrorist walking out of jail free to kill again. the british government plan to, quote, keep an eye on them. >> democrats are working very hard. look out, president, you're in

2:21 am
>> good morning, what an incredible situation to be in where the u.s. government could be handing over money to a group with ties to osama bin laden, previously funded osama bin laden and a group who has fundraised palestinian group hamas and getting money from the u.s. government. it appears that it is incompetence, although it's not entirely clear but very clearly this can't be allowed to happen again. >> but break it down as to how it happened and exactly what happened. >> so it seems the case was that u.s. aid gave money to a charity called world vision, world vision subcontracted part of work out in sedan to this group the islamic relief agency, the red flags didn't come up, not in the government databases, not
2:22 am
within the islamic -- not within world vision itself and after the fact, the u.s. government discovered, well, we may have a problem here and then incredibly the islamic relief agency threatened to sue if they're not given the money, i mean, what a situation to be in where you have bin laden-linked group threat tong sue if the u.s. government doesn't hand over taxpayer money. jillian: let's take a look at the quote of the middle east form report for the national review and it says, quote, u.s. agency explains that world vision had alerted it in november 2014 to the likelihood of islamic relief agency being on the terror list, u.s. aid instructed world vision to suspend all activities with isra and informed the state department. how do you suggest we make sure something like this doesn't happen again, robin? >> well, there has to be due diligence done by all parties,
2:23 am
obviously world vision shouldn't have tried to work with the islamic relief agency. there has to be red flags go up when an organization has been designated by the treasury is being put forward to get grants, this seems to me to be quite basic stuff but we also need to have some kind of establishing the facts as to whether when the grant was initially made, were the databases not checked, with the people who were just ignoring protocol or are the databases incomplete and need of dating, clearly assessment of that. >> good question. >> a lot of questions that need to be answered because this can't happen and it really can't happen again. >> robin, thank you. jillian: taking a hard left, the rise of bernie sanders and alexandria ocasio-cortez has

2:31 am
across northwest can 100-degrees for parts of pacific northwest. the highs remain warm and dry and no relief in terms of rainfall unfortunately. back to you. >> horrible situation there, jd, thank you. 99 days until the midterms and socialism is surging on democrats, check this out. new poll showing 51% of democrats have a favorable impression of socialism but is this really a winning platform for the party? here now to debate democratic strategists jason and executive director and america rising pack alexander smith. i'm not going to go lady's first on this one, i will begin with jason, i'm a state, connecticut, where it's mostly democrat, but every single democrat that i speak to has no desire for socialism, that seems to be changing, do you agree? >> i do, and that is because
2:32 am
younger voters see socialism different than older voters or people who are from the baby-boom generation. the young generation of voters are not afraid of the s word, they realize there are certain elements of socialism that will help. they are not looking for us to become ussr, most of them were not alive, they don't remember ronald reagan telling gorvashev to tear down the wall. they realize single-payer health care makes sense, other democratic socialist programs that have worked and industrialized nations around the world. i think that they are -- they see it differently than we saw it perhaps in the 80's. >> okay. but alexandra, seasonal socialist principles un-american and who pays for it? >> we pay for it as taxpayers,
2:33 am
but the problem is that you eventually run out of our money and i think what the democrats are trying to do right now is rebrand socialism into this democrat socialism, they are trying to move it away from the failed soviet-style socialism that americans are familiar with and repackage it in shiny new packaging and saying this is the future of progressism. the problem is that it's twofold, one you have a very recent failed example of socialism in venezuela where people are starving and they don't have access to adequate medical care and the second is that these policies are way outside the mainstream of where most americans are. for example, democratic socialists of america favor abolishing the senate, so they are fundamentally oppose today our republican-style of government and i think that, you know, this is out of step where most americans are. >> jason, i want to put a poll
2:34 am
now before i get to my final question for you, should national democratic party declare socialist party, 41% of republicans say yes, only 19% of democrats say so, so with that in mind, is this the right path for the democrats to go down? the 99 days leading up to midterms? >> number one, we have to understand that socialism or democratic socialism is one wing of the party, we have a wide tent for the democratic party, many of us are, you know, think that certain programs from democratic socialism make sense, others we have to debate more. i think that we don't necessarily have to make one determination and say that we are socialists and also i want to say that, you know, just to respond to what the guest said, this idea how we are going the pay for it, number one with single-payer health care we will save $400 billion just in administrative costs, just by
2:35 am
getting rid of the paperwork, so this idea that none of these programs can be paid for, i think that's a right-wing talking point that can be disproven many times over. >> jason, i will put another poll and let alexandra respond before going to break. it sort of says the american people seem to share the views of the president just in general, 64% of them say that the president's views are closest to their own, only 20% compared to average republican in congress and the average democrat in congress 10%, alexandra in 30 seconds that we have remaining, what does that mean to you? >> 2018 democrats are in trouble particularly as more of the 2020 democrats embrace socialist policies that are really putting these democrats in a bind, they are running in states that the president won in 2016, they have an interest in putting themselves out there and moving further, further to the left ahead of 2020 and that's really going cost the democrats some
2:36 am
momentum. >> i think this is going to be something absolutely fascinate to go watch over the course of 99 days, jason and alexandra, we will have you on again because this is not a situation that's going away any time soon, we appreciate it. >> thank you so much. >> thank you. >> misguided move, the mayor of philadelphia caving to liberal pressure ending a major contract with ice, the fiery respond from the feds putting the sanctuary city on notice. >> iconic scene for overworking millennial now becoming a reality s this another sign of entitlement? campus reform says no, why he says it's the effect of the great trump economy. so you just walk around telling people geico

2:43 am
interested in and when in 30's they can hone in on one. jillian: be able to prove to be consistent and stay there rather than leaving after six months, two years seems to be the number for a while now. >> i think a lot of it also the way things are evolving, people aren't getting tied down. a lot of millennials value personal freedom, another aspect the way economy is evolving, the way that people aren't stuck at desk anymore either. the way technology has evolved and changed things operate, you don't have to be stuck in office setting and millennials prioritizing jobs, they can go, travel, work remotely and older generation, these aren't the ways things operate, of course, things couldn't operate in the past, technology brought us wonderful system, they can work from all around the country and world and people take advantage of that. jillian: do you think there's a
2:44 am
difference in generation that we are seeing here? >> younger people have come up with age where technologies is giving them freedom to work in different areas. they see the benefits of that and many people are just changing priorities, a lot of people prioritize personal freedom traveling around over feeling somebody con standpointly telling them what to do. >> but everything needs young millennials, 22, 23, 25 millennials, they really only known a good job market for them, jillian and i, i'm not saying we are old, there was a time there in 2000, like 2008 and 2009 where jobs were hard to come by and so my concern for millennials, if they don't get through tough time now and think that the world is just always going to be there to get jobs, when push comes to shove, resume, experience, college degrees are going to be important.
2:45 am
>> that's certainly -- this is the time where people -- it's going to be easiest possible, they are more open jobs than people seeking them and so you bring up a good point but i think it's important that people get experience but also the point that i find interesting how many people want socialist policy, they want all of the things and if they get them the job market won't be there and job opportunities aren't going to be there. everyone loves personal individual and freedom when it comes down to it affects job and people saying they want socialism, sounds great but maybe closing -- >> for the record, todd is earlier than me. >> thank you. >> when we come back, notice anything on the picture of brad pitt and former fling paltrow. jillian: how about him and his ex-wife jennifer hudson.
