president president obama sayinl stump for candidates this fall. >> thousands of americans would be alive today if not for the open border policies. of barack obama. >> they say that donald lacks the foreign policy experience to be president. in fairness, he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world. miss sweden, miss argentina, miss osher by john >> president obama is the founder of isis. >> the donald is not really a plans guy. not really a facts guy either. >> this is a president who doesn't have a clue. >> the guy says stuff that nobody would find tolerable if they were applying for a job at

7-eleven. >> dana: obama is endorsing dozens of democrats and making headlines for who he is backing and who he is not. he is throwing his weight behind a congressional candidate new mexico who wants to polish i.c.e. and stumping for herself acclaimed socialist alexandria ocasio-cortez. is this a rematch between donald trump and barack obama? >> jesse: i would love to see those two debates. it would be a bloodbath. i think the country rejected a third obama term when they rejected at hillary clinton. obama doesn't do very well when he's not on the ballot. he got shellacked in both midterms. him getting back on the trail activates the democratic base but also reactivates the public and base. they are going to be pretty fired up when they see him out there stumping. i don't believe the country wants to look backwards. i think the country wants to look for words. what we saw during the obama years were terrible economy, racial riots, and a lot of

consternation in the public. there wasn't a lot of good things that were happening. health care chaos, et cetera. now we are in the new environment. for obama to get back out there doesn't help. i think it hurts the democrats. it gives president trump a big punching bag. a very big target. >> dana: president trump does well when he has something to punch against. do you think the democrats will benefit from president obama being out on the campaign trail? >> juan: tremendous. 60% plus approval rating, high energy, and we know about his capacity as an orator or a campaigner. it's very strong. when you think about, on these endorsements come he's been strategic. he endorses candidates where his endorsement will benefit them. he doesn't endorse, for example, joe manchin and west virginia. a strong trump state. he doesn't endorse joe donnelly in indiana.

he is picking his spots. i think he is doing so very well. also don't forget money counts in politics. he's very good at raising money, and he's going to have his supporters and people who think he is still the cat's meow come out. when you talk about energy or something like jesse was saying health care and so forth. health care chaos is what we've gotten our you see the trump administration trying to provide these inadequate subpar plans. >> dana: some people like them. short-term plans. >> jesse: tell those to the people that lost their plans. >> juan: look at what the american people are saying. they are saying they want obamacare. >> jedidiah: they voted for trump. >> jesse: why did they vote against hillary? >> juan: they voted in 2010 in reaction to obamacare. remember it was being belittled and demonized at the time by opponents. boy, the american people's attitude has shifted.

>> jedidiah: costs a fortune. >> juan: there's an argument now about single-payer. >> jedidiah: that's even worse. i agree i think president obama does a great job as a campaigner. the problem is, he has to campaign now against success. he has to campaign against policies that have worked. he has to look people in the eye his taxes and gone down and have less regulations and they been able to expand their businesses. they have more freedom, administration with saying we don't like obamacare. we want to give you opportunities to get the health insurance that you decide is right for you. he has to say that gdp growth and the decrease taxes, that's all bad. what's he going to do? is going to do what he does best in pivot to republicans and trump, they hate immigrants, which is a lie. republicans and trump, all this nonsense. >> dana: it's a good point, greg. >> greg: jedediah.

>> dana: she makes a good point. can president obama go out there and talk down the economy? it's not a good idea to talk down prosperity. >> greg: we can tell by the montage that every obama said was scripted and everything trump said was off the cuff. it's in trump's favor. i feel bad for the democrats. it's like they dropped their iphone in the toilet so now they went to the junk drawer to get the flip phone. that's obama. he's the flip phone. they had to get something out of storage to save their party. >> dana: more like iphone 4 and hillary clinton -- >> greg: don't try to screw with my analogy. it's all i've got going. this is really about time off. the media and the comedians have been working really hard and they needed a much much-deserved snap. obama is back in town. they know he's off-limits. you can't make jokes about obama, right? no comedian is going to make a joke.

the media doesn't have to chase obama around. they don't have to howl and tim. basically it's a break for the comedians and a break for the media. because they can't joke about him. i don't lame obama for coming out of hiding. he's basically yesterday's special on the restaurant blackboard that trump came out in the morning and erased. >> dana: happier to have obama than clinton out there. >> jesse: absolutely. obama is much better than crooked hillary. it sets up the contrast. as opposed to a referendum. if there is no punching bag or villain for trump to run against, it's more difficult. when you have barack obama out there, the media is going to hoist those two guys in the center and make it a cage match. in terms of the endorsements, healing me of those endorsements because his former staff members were working for those candidates. i don't know how strategic it was. i understand why he didn't endorse cortez. if he had done that, it would've created a huge, huge problem within the democratic party. that would have been a major

blow to the centrists. they don't need that kind of fight right now. >> jedidiah: may be he watched some of our interviews because i watched them. seriously. when she is posed with a question that she has lofty ideas about, let's give him medicare for all. when you ask her how she's going to pay for it, her answer is absurd. when you ask about the israeli-palestinian crisis, she has no idea what she's talking about. this president obama, i disagreh him on a lot of stuff but he's not a stupid guy. >> juan: you say is obama going to run against the economy? obama is the guy who saved the economy. economy. >> juan: let's look. >> greg: obama is responsible for everything good and trump is responsible for everything bad. i don't even agree with the reverse. >> juan: if you want to look at the economy, arrows and directions coming out of '08 what the united states has done sense, you would say that guided pretty well. >> jesse: the weakest recession since world war ii. >> juan: it was a terrible. >> jesse: usually when they are really bad, the recovery is really good. >> juan: on the economy, republicans had planned to run on the trump tax cuts. everybody is still encouraging republicans to say talk about the economy. forget about the demonizing of immigrants. forget going after the nfl players. playing almost kind of -- >> jesse: the other night he was talking up the tax cuts pretty big. >> juan: it's not working.

the american people say they haven't seen their wages increase. >> greg: who are these american people you've been talking to? >> juan: you should look at some polls. >> greg: know, the funny thing is you pick and choose poles and overlook ones about the, like the ones about russian collusion. they are not interested in the babel that you spout. >> juan: they are interested in whether or not this president was having some collusion. >> greg: the optimism has never been higher. that's not in my notes, juan. >> juan: why did you see so many trump officials come out today and say we are actively engaged in trying to stop the russians from interfering in the 2016 -- it's because those people understand the american people do care about the idea -- >> greg: polling shows that issue ranks less than any other issue. >> jesse: he wants to talk about russia because he can't talk about the economy.

>> jedidiah: honestly, do people have more jobs? are the unemployment numbers down? do people have more money in their pockets, more food on the table? you don't think so? i talk to people everyday who say they couldn't get a job five years ago are now they can. if he goes out and talks about the shrinking unemployment numbers, if he talks about providing more opportunities for people with health care or whatever, if he goes out and talks about low taxes and people are feeling the impacts in their pocketbook, that's all that matters. nobody is going to be talking about collusion with russia which there has been no proof of, if they can put food on the table. >> juan: i agree but i'm telling you you don't even have to say the democrats think this. republican strategist would like to get on the economy, pump it up. what they see is it's not working with the voters. trump is talking about -- >> jesse: i will leave you with one last headline not from a fake news article. cnbc says "worker compensation

at highest level since 2008." that is not fox news. that's not breitbart. cnbc. they know the data. >> juan: what you see is it's a very slow, stagnant -- >> dana: i hear what you're saying. it is still super hard to try to make that argument. obama might try to do it, but i don't -- >> juan: i don't think they are running against the economy. they are saying the real estate. the reason people are frustrated with the economy as they feel they are not getting their fair share. >> dana: i hear you. >> greg: those are generalizations that are not proven. what were you going to say? he cut you off. >> dana: i don't remember. the argument he's trying to make is hard to make when the headlines across all the papers are the things are better. it's like a feeling. president trump, they're going to have a battle. actually we don't even know exactly what is going to happen in october. that's always a month when there's big news on all sorts of

>> greg: welcome back. it's time for greg is a hypocrite with greg gutfeld. today i'm going to be a hypocrite because what i'm about to tell you to do is something i should be telling myself, which is to be a nicer person. there's been a lot of fretting over the behavior toward the media and trump rallies, jeering and heckling. i don't think it's a big deal. if a world where an auto show, american is the loud car. the noise is part of our charm. no one is carrying the press into silence. believe me. they are louder than ever. much of the jeering is growing from a distrust of the media that under obama had cosmetic spine removal surgery to look better for that dreamy president. obama for them was like muzak on

prozac. now the trumpet here, the media is working overtime, things ignored under obama are crimes under trump. it's the contrast that takes all of us off. but we as americans can do better. heckling isn't a good look, especially when you are winning, and you are winning. the country is winning. let it go. you are scaring the kids. remember sean kelley, the pitcher who threw a tantrum as his team was up by 20. you don't want to be that guy. when you are in the lead, it's up to you to lead. elevate your game. at tonight's rally, turn it into media appreciation night. show them some love. that will probably freak them out even more. let's get right to the story of the day, my haircut. thank you. also sarah sanders was responding to a reporter that works for a three letter network who uses a lot of brylcreem,

won't name him. it's about the relationship that she has with the media and what its cost her. >> repeatedly the media resorts to personal attacks without any content other than to incite anger. the media has attacked me personally on a number of occasions, including your own network, said i should be harassed as a life sentence, that i should be choked. i.c.e. officials are not welcomed in their place of worship and personal information is shared on the internet. when i was hosted by the correspondents association of which almost all of your members on, you brought a committee enough to attack my periods and call me a traitor to my own gender. in fact, as i know, as far as i know, i'm the first press secretary in the history of the united states that has required secret service protection. >> greg: you know, dana, i know she's the flash point for the administration and that's why comedians go after her and things like that, but it does seem like it is different. >> dana: i don't think any comedian ever knew i existed. i kind of liked it that way.

>> greg: well, they couldn't see you. the podium was about 2 inches above your head. they called you the invisible press secretary. >> dana: they did. i was about that effective. >> greg: you were great, that's not true. >> dana: i don't know of another press secretary that's needed secret service protection. it is unnerving. some of the things she has set are true. the comedian they have at the white house correspondents' dinner, that woman was responsible for her own words. almost everybody, the official statement from the white house correspondents association was how outraged they were, how embarrassed. they rushed to say it was wrong, because they do have respect for sarah sanders. you can hear in her voice she is not having it. to your point about the rallies, you almost quoted somebody. >> greg: who? >> dana: michelle obama. when they go low, we go high.

tea party rallies? these people were destroyed for so long. they are tired of it. they are tired of people claiming to be objective journalists who have an agenda. they are tired of people making fun of them are reporters thinking these are trump supporters so they are this and that and saying negative things. they are tired of it. i don't condone any violence or name-calling. it undermines the cause when you do things like that, but i understand these people's frustration. i also feel like they have watched their politicians that they liked for so long -- sarah palin, president bush. these people were destroyed by most of the media. now they have a guy who's not going to take it. he doesn't want to take it sitting down. he wants to stand up. he calls them out, they are cheering saying finally somebody will answer these people. i get it, even though i don't condone bad behavior. i understand the frustration. you are right. we get to sit here with our microphone. their microphone is real life, and they have had it. >> greg: you just changed my mind about my monologue. everything i just said.

"they asked my daughter ivanka whether or not the media is the enemy of the people. she correctly said no. it is the fake news, which is a large percentage of the media, that is the enemy of the people!" juan, that's a good distinction. i've always said he is talking about the fake news, not the real news. >> juan: he is trying to backtrack, but is far too late. this is not about the trump base. i think it is about the trump cult. >> greg: you are calling supporters cultists. >> juan: that rally on monday. >> greg: you can do that to obama supporters. you forget the obama supporters. >> juan: you had a monologue. just a second. let me talk. you think about the idea that they would exclude a reporter from an open availability because the reporter dared to ask or shout a question of the president. you think about the idea they are limiting press briefings now

to the lowest number that we've ever seen. >> greg: the press has never been more vocal. >> juan: you understand exactly what this president is doing. >> greg: he is not doing anything. >> juan: what are you talking about? >> greg: listen to how loud you are. no one is shutting you up. trump is making you louder. trump is making you angrier. trump is making you talk more. >> juan: i'm trying to tell you honestly and say explain something which is that i think this guy who started with the enemy of the american people. that's what he said. he described reporters. >> greg: he was talking about fake news. >> juan: no. he said it in 2016. he said it again in 2017 after his disastrous performance with putin in helsinki. oh, i had a great summit. it was the fake news media. what's fake about that? we reported he said he believed putin, not american intelligence. >> greg: you're missing my point. the enemy of the people he is saying is the fake news, not the

news. >> juan: he is trying to walk it back now. even his own daughter -- >> greg: i remember the very first tweet on this. >> juan: this is a guy who was persuaded, 90% support among republicans. you get a situation where 90% of republicans think whatever trump says about collusion, i will believe it. only 5% will agree that the media is trying to represent the best of first amendment rights. >> jedidiah: because they watch the news. they turn on the tv and the vast majority of people and media are salivating, waiting with baited breath to do anything that they can say negative things about. not to say all the media are bad. >> juan: that's why, his son tweets out cnn sucks. he retweeted. he is trying to gin up the base. the nice, base. but you know what i really mean. >> jesse: obama didn't have to bash the press because the press loved him.

>> greg: he only bashed us. >> jesse: he bashed fox news. fox news is 5% of the overall media. 90% of the media coverage against this president has been negative. yet his approval rating is at 50%. there is a huge disconnect. >> juan: 50%. where did you see that? >> greg: >> jesse: last month. >> juan: he is underwater. real clear politics average includes rasmussen, by the way. it has a nine-point -- >> jesse: you are underwater too because you are all wet. look at this analogy. say i am an eagles fan. i wear my eagles jersey and i go to washington redskins game. i'm going to get jeered and heckled him people are going to yell and taught me. that's how it is. you put your jersey on, you come to an eagles game, they are going to do the same thing. what's happening at these rallies, the base is spirited. they have a lot of spirit. i don't agree with the middle finger. that's not right. but to yell at a reporter is not the same as some of the things they've done to trump

supporters. trump supporters have been assaulted. they have been punched in the face. a lot of bad things have happened. do not condemn those things, which the media doesn't do. maxine waters said what she sent, chase people out of restaurants. dana loesch has armed security. you should see when i go to a campus. i have armed security around me. we are all grown men here and women. we can handle some taunts. it's not that big a deal. >> dana: i have a great point about the media spends a lot of time reporting about the media. that's what they do. it's in their nature, they are missing so many big stories that they could! after president obama on, like these cafe standards, all the environmental stuff that used to be on the front page of "the new york times." the president is basically allowing his government to do all these great things while he provides air cover with his tweets. they are making a huge mistake by not focusing on the -- >> greg: that was a brilliant point. that goes into your brilliant point journal.

>> juan: one of the realities of american politics is that people talk about the midterms in terms of could be a blue wafer democrats, and i see stories these days that say there's a pink wave coming. so many women candidates, republicans republicans -- problems republicans are having. i think she is an icon to those folks. she's made the case since her defeat that in fact part of the problem was people just are uncomfortable with a woman and trump who had no problem grabbing women and bragging about it. >> jesse: it's amazing that hillary lost the white female boat to donald trump. isn't that surprising? >> greg: because they are racist. you forgot. >> jedidiah: they weren't comfortable with a liar. she had lied repeatedly. she does happen to be a woman who'd lied repeatedly. >> juan: seriously? >> jedidiah: she was a known liar. she deceived the public. she lied about forms she had signed. she lied through her teeth. they know it. this is a film about the suffrage movement and fighting to win the right to vote. isn't this the woman who just told everybody recently that

again. dallas cowboys quarterback dak prescott not backing down after he received backlash first thing stadiums are not the proper venue for protests. even though he also said he supports the message coming from the protesting. jesse, you're a football fan. we know jerry jones, the owner of the cowboys, said the cowboys policy is going to be to stand. the nfl said jerry, we have a stand-down agreement with the players. let's not have any more comments. now here comes jack prescott, the star quarterback. >> jesse: i hate to say this about a cowboy but i think he nailed it. it's the correct stance to take. he says he respects the anthem and believes that moment, 2 minutes at a football stadium, is a time of national unity. he says i'm not going to disparage anybody who wants to kneel. to say there's not a lot of social justice problems in the country the need to be addressed
