11:02 pm
admiti mother ilene smith both join me to share their stories. they're sitting side-by-side. ilene, cathy i appreciate you coming on the chaud. our heart goes out to everyone, who goes through this. as a parent myself, i can't even imagine theou sadness that has gone through your family. and we appreciate your taking these moments and being brave enough to share your stories and perspective. this country, you have more of a voices than anyone like myself or someone who hasn't been through this. cathy, again. i'm so sorry you went through this, but donald trump has brought a lot of attention to the status, the illegal immigrant status. is that the right thing to do? are we doing the right thing by talking about the status of these people? >> i believe so. my daughter would o still be hee today, if the man would have stopped. if he would have been here legally. i think that if the american public isn't aware t of how many
11:03 pm
cases are there actually are and what's going on, donald trump isn't going to be able to get anywhere it. >> jason: ilene, in your situation, we talk sometimes about the status, illegal illegal-- sometimes people will argue, it is really not the cogent part of the discussion. what's your perspective? what are your thoughts? >> i think his immigration status or citizenship status has a lot to say about policy implications going forward. and how we handle these kinds of things. you know, if there's a deportation in the mix of this or if we need detainers or not, it is really important. so, as far as policy going forward, we definitely need to look at these cases and include their immigration status. >> jason: first and foremost, we want to remember those kids, whose lives were taken far, far too early. but in the case of locking down
11:04 pm
the border and the immigration policies that move forward it cathy what would you like to see happen? what is the right thing that the united states of america should do? >> you know we had a situation with my daughter's case. i have kind of been on both areas of the fence with this one. the borders need to be locked down when they come over here illegally they do commit crimes to stay here illegally. ii think that if we don't do something about the issue there, it is going to go well beyond the families that you are having on the chaud. show. my granddaughter was removed given to a family not us, after my daughter died. we are still fighting today to try to get my granddaughter back home with b her family, where se needs to be. so i've had both sides of this issue. my daughter should be here.
11:05 pm
ilene's son should be here. many, many other mothers and fathers. it is going to be a lot more, if we don't stop what's going on now. >> jason: ilene, one of the public policy discussions the people of congress are debating. you hear democrats say we should get rid of i.c.e. that immigration i custom enforcement should be abolished. some want more open borders. how do you react to that. >> i think i should say i am not anti-immigrant. my grandfather came here to america in 1955 and became a citizen ina 1960, but those coming in illegally and committing further crimes need to be readdressed. i think this is something we can easily correct. i don't think anybody in their right mind would sit there and say that we need to abolish i.c.e. they keep our country safe. god bless those men and women.
11:06 pm
>> i agree. >> jason: yeah. it is so true. cathy, ilene i want to give you each a moment. tell us about your loss, and how us to remember your-- how you want us to remember, haley, for instance? >> you know haley was the youngest of four children. she was always happy. laughing and loved everybody. she was heard of hearing. she was hard of hearing, and could play music beautifully, but there wasn't anyone in this worldle haley wouldn't have put her hand out to help, if they needed it. if anything could ever be considered goodve coming out of this, i'm hoping that her story will get out and help save some other lives.av >> jason: and ilene, what can you tell us about dimitri and what you are going through at that time as a young mother? >> he was my first child.
11:07 pm
he was incredible, fully formed. 10 fingers, 10 toes. had my nose. had my husbands hair and chin. fit from elbow to fingertip. when i got ho hold him before giving him up to omi. he was greatly anticipated by my family. it is one of the first babies we had had in decades. and he is sorely missed by his family. >> jason: thank you for sharing your stories. i want to give you one more chance to say something to people who serve in congress, who are public policy-makers. maybe let's start with you ilene and then cathy. what would you say to them? >> well, w are doing the angel familyld rally in september in . please join us for that. a lot of new angel moms are going to be there. people who previously didn't get
11:08 pm
their story out, because they were wrapped up in legal proceedings and things like that. it would be very informative for sure.p in addition to that wanting to see further legislation to make sure thesese people, who are committing heinous acts are deported. >> jason: cathy? >> i agree with ilene. you know not all of the lawmakers out there are against anything going on. there are some very good ones. there are two state representatives, two state senators that t are helping with our case. and then also senator tom cotton has joined on board. i'll be meeting with him on dc in september also. >> jason: well, again, sorry for your loss. we appreciate you taking the time and having the strength and fortitude to be able to share your story with others. it is heart wrenching and our hearts go out to you, but thank
11:09 pm
you for sharing your stories and being with us. may god bless you. >> thank you for having us. >> jason: for more on the>> immigration crisis in our country. let's bring in michael cutler with ins. one ofal the predecessors to immigration and custom enforcement often called ice. >> and darla nixon. i have no doubt about your hart and compassion. i know you care about those women and kids. i'm not trying to any way shape or form give you anything other than 100% credit about caring, but when we talk about public policy you hear these women. they talk about the need to target illegal immigrants and deport them. and to deal with the immigration issue, abolish ice? where are you on this? what do you say to those women who say no, these people should be deported. >> i certainly understand the women. you have a-- a major loss like
11:10 pm
that certainly you're going to be upset. but i think it is a error and i think it is misleading to use isolated incidents to overlook compelling evidence. as an example between 1990 and 2013 the immigration population in america more than tripled, but the violent crime rate actually went down by 48% some the d numbers really say that we don't have a problem with-- . >> jason: yes, we do. no, we do. >> look at the numbers. >> jason: if those people weren't here. they're here illegally. if they weren't here. those two kids would be alive today. do you not believe that? >> stopping immigration will not make car accidents go away. >> jason: no, no, no. no one said we will stop immigration. the united states of america does more than any country in the face of the planet. we legally lawly bring one million people in the country. no one ever suggested that, ever. so, it is illegal immigration
11:11 pm
that we're trying to stop. you do see the difference, right between the two? >> certainly i see the difference. my point being the numbers still don't say they are a significant crime problem. in fact they're less of a crimet problem. when you take individual examples and gear that, and overlook compelling evidence, i think it is misleading. >> jason: compelling evidence was the first part of the block with the two women and the two dead kids. that's part of the c compelling evidence. joining me in studio is michael cutler. you've dedicated your life and career to fighting this. what's your perspective. >> first we have to look at the 9/11 commission. we provided testimony. the second largest contingent of law enforcement officers to the law enforcement task force was immigration. they violate immigration fraud to get in the united states. and nom crature. it isn't about political correctness. illegal aliens are not immigrants. when people say if you talk about illegal immigrants you're
11:12 pm
unfair to the immigrants. people who won't make the decision tinges between illegal aliens and immigrants are hurting. the difference is comparable to the difference between the bank robber and a bank customer. think about that. >> jason: that's right. that's a good example. >> the guy who walks in to take his own money is the customer. the guy who robs the bank is not a customer. you don't have an inherent right to enter where you're not a citizen. do.citizens we spend $15 billion on boarder and custom protection. employs. inspections and border agents and ice backs them up. they conduct investigations into fraud and i have to make this point quickly. if you look at the guy alleged to have killed molly in iowa he is the moster child for what's wrong with immigration. he ran thehe border. it needs to be secure. we have 15 border states. hehe committed immigration fraud apparently by gaping a false identity. gaining ain false identity.
11:13 pm
if we go with doca. they're children. no the age cutoff is 37. we have to have honest facts. >> jason: there is so much of the discussion. garlin if i surveyed congress and on the immigration subcommittee for a while. one of the things that frustrated me is more than 80,000 times during the obama administration people, who were here illegally, who committed crimes got caught committing those crimes-- instead of being deported they were released out into the public. how do you justify that? if you are here illegally and you commit a crime, don't be don't you believe those people should be deported by default. >> yeah. i know of an example off the bat of someone deported it was because they were caught with a joint in 1983. so whengh you talk about what te crime was. what. >> jason: wait, wait. so. if they're here illegally and abusing-- you know a smoking pot
11:14 pm
ordealing of drugs, dealing or consuming drugs you think they should just be released back out because they're harmless. >> what i think is i think we should have a policy to deal with that. i think the republicans have both houses and the white house, i think that they should come through with a, with a comprehensive immigration plan, which they haven't. >> jason: garland let me give you the right answer. in the case of admiti smith killed. ilene smith's son who lived for one minute. the person who was accused of killing that child had three prior driving while intoxicated convictions. let me turn it over to mike. >> if you look at the immigration laws and the grounds for excluding an alien and aliens who evade the inspections to come here illegally know they belong to category with exclusivability. mental illness. criminal, spies, terrorists. human rights violators.
11:15 pm
war criminal and fugitives from justice. if someone runs the border there'sey trespassing. chuck schumer wanted a federal law. you know probably know to trespass five year felony. saying trespassing is dangerous. aren't you trespassing on america, when you run the border. evade the vetting process. yet the same chuck schumer said let's give citizenship to people who trespass on america. the disconnect between the political statement and the reality of why we have borders and immigration laws is astonishing. those borders are our first and last line of defense against criminals, and terrorists. why in the world wouldn't youcr want consequences for people. >> jason: the absolutely right answer here is the lock down the borders so they can't come back. if you commit a crime, they should be absolutely deported. thank you gentlemen. i appreciate your time. >> the media make a major error in the mike cohen story. details ahead.

they're too quick to run and gun and put out allegations gates based on unnamed sources. cnn had a problem when they had to fire three journalists over unsubstantiated story. i asked cnn for comment. be haven't heard anything back. no public statement. >> jason: now the new york post says it is actually cohen, who was the person who confirmed the story in the first place. they must have known that, howard? how could they not ask him or question him about that. hey, you confirmed the first time. now you're saying it is not true. doesn't the media, if they know that, don't they have an obligation, a duty to then follow up with that second question? and produce the appropriate apology or correctship? >> absolutely, but i would say don't hold your breath. every, singlee day. many newsing organizations and sometimes it is part of our job hammer the white house. you're wrong on this. president lying about that. why won't you come clean. it is kind of dominates a lot of

it starts with that. youit have to give people hope d opportunity, not entitlement. andd not enslave them to government. >> jason: yeah. what's your take on that? i hey, let's just hope and then we get one out of 75. >> no, that's it, jason what has to happen in chicago not just inner cities. i want to be clear it. seems like the right wants to pinpoint some of the issues we have in cities like chicago, and baltimore just inner city. these thingss happen in urial areas.n they may not get the same level after attention. democrats and repsans. black or rich or poor. have to come together and identify the root of the problem and put forth a policy. >> jason: that's not happening. that's not happening in chicago. 75 in one weekend. >> because it is because it does not mean it will happen. just because it hasn't happened
11:48 pm
yet. that does not mean it cannot happen. and people willing to put aside their differences. >> jason: i'm sorry guys. we're not just one big group hug away from solving this. there has to be a fundamental change. and that may mean that the president or the national guard something has to change, because the status quo and one group hug won't solve it. thank you for being here. i wishh we had more time. >> you and i agree on that, jason. >> the confederate monuments comes to the footsteps of north carolina capital building. victor davis hansen. one of the smartest minds there is joins us next. . . or make me feel like i'm not really "there." talk to your doctor, and call 844-234-2424. enterprise car sales and you'll take any trade-in?rom that's right! great! here you go... well, it does need to be a vehicle.
