at any moment. i think it is so disrespectful. it is absolutely untrue. i have known the president for over four decades. many of the people around him, i have known for a very, very long time. again, decades. there's nothing crazy about them. you may disagree with their politics. the president tends sometimes to be impetuous. he can be thin-skinned, particularly on twitter, but to portray him as a risk, as slim pickens in "dr. strangelove" is really -- jedediah: is it a national security risk that would warrant sessions getting involved, the department of justice getting involved? >> no. no. pete: you have a duly elected president who people inside his administration are trying to undo and resist and basically work against that duly elected president. he calls it virtually treason. how do you push back on that? it's a strong charge but you are

fair, he's partial and i don't think he should get into this mosh pit of trump politics. ed: what do you think, guy? there has been this tradition that even barack obama mentioned himself, a former president leaving the stage but said i have to get back into this. >> not surprising from obama. i think it's so interesting in the trump era, democrats and liberals decry the abandonment of norms, then abandon norms to fight against trump. this is a fight barack obama chose to pick with the president and the republican party. the clip we just played, one of those lines jumped out at me where he was saying i have to say, the politics of resentment and paranoia have found a home in the republican party in recent years. that is partially true. but he totally neglects to mention, for example, in 2007-2008, polling that showed a majority of democrats believe that george w. bush knew about 9/11 in advance. that's a crackpot smear. and polling in recent months
