obama back on the campaign trail taking aim at president trump and even taking credit for the economic boom. >> when you hear how great the economy is doing right now let's just remember when this recovery started, suddenly republicans are saying it's a miracle. i have to kind of remind them actually those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016. rob: a lot of people pounced on that comment. is former president obama responsible for the economy, professor peter morici, thank you sir for coming back on this morning, what numbers is president obama talking about when he says they are the same now when they were in 2015? >> well, the job's growth has been about the same during the trump first two years as during the obama final two years, that's a fair statement, but

that's cherry-picking, growth during the trump years has been much more robust, we've been averaging growth, this year we should get up to 3% that would put us 50% above mr. obama's performance over term of office. as consequence we are starting to see wages go up, that's really good news. what's more, this is important because this is something that mr. obama worries endlessly about that is inequality, inequality got worse during the obama years, they seem to think that that's a republican trap, it's not, during the obama years inequality got worse, now we are seeing low-wage workers getting lots of pay increases, bigger than average -- rob: you're talking income inequality? >> exactly. income inequality is narrowing now that the republicans are creating an opportunity economy, and that's a real plus,

mr. obama can't lay claim to those accomplishments, he regulated and president trump deregulated. rob: kept interest rates artificially low that was a big complain, we had low interest rates for such a long time that it kept the economy more healthy than it probably should have been? >> there was a very cynical aspect of the obama recovery. the government borrowed a lot at low interest rates but also encouraged young people to borrow a lot for useless college programs, a lot of young people because they couldn't find jobs and took useless programs and now they are burden with debt, he used that to stimulate the economy, this was the worst act of any president in the last two generations. rob: unemployment i went thank 2015, 2016 you saw labor number

5 or 6%, so he obviously wasn't talking about that in the comment we heard from him there, right now 3.9%, more jobs and workers, a common theme you are hearing, gdp numbers 4%, quarterly over 3% annually and that's a much higher number than obama was ever able to boast in the 8 years he had to get over that recession. >> well, normally when we come out of a big recession we get very robust growth, what mr. obama did was double down on entitlements, if there's a legacy of mr. obama, it's the new leisure class of abled body men who are on some government handout or living out their girlfriends that don't look for a job, mr. trump is creating an opportunity economy, this is a revolutionary presidency in that regard. rob: yeah, if you really want --

internal investigation, if somebody was spitting in the hamburgers, the manager is going to want to know who it is. jillian: do you disagree that the american public deserves to know who is saying? >> i absolutely agree. the proper venue would have been congress, judiciary committee because the congress is complicit in propping up this administration, there are so few avenues left for actually airing concerns and letting people know the truth. jillian: joe, is this a matter of national security when you have someone in the white house who is saying these things and wants to remain anonymous, i don't know, i feel like a lot of people in the american public that think if we are going to be successful here in this administration and we want the country to succeed why are you trying to undermine what the president is doing for us? >> well, even playing devil's advocate if you don't like president trump and if you don't think who is right, you still want to judge him fairly, in order to do that you have to assume that the policies are being carried out, you know,

full. the constitution gives executive power to the president of the united states not his staff, this is not something that any president prior to him has ever had to have and this is something that needs to be eliminated and eradicated. jillian: it's okay, people on all sides of the aisle have been at place at some point in history where somebody hasn't liked the president, right, it's okay for you to have a difference of opinion about who is in the white house but the thing is, max, and i want to get your take on what i just said is it a matter of national security when you have people in the white house undermining what the president? >> i think there's one president at a time and the last thing we need is a bunch of shadow presidents deciding what policy is, what concerns me is someone like senator jeff flake has said that he gets news like this 3 or 4 times a week and it's shocking that the response to someone claiming there is a security risk and the president is endangering the country is for jeff flake to shrug his

from the bench taking a seat to just show respect, take a knee, he did that, our request is just stand up, take that last final step and encourage friends out in the field to stop following your bad example and just stand up and show respect. jillian: now, look there's two sides of the story, right, there are a lot of people in the country who do support what they are doing and there are a lot of people in the country who support what nike is doing in bringing colin kaepernick of the face of its brand right now, what do you say to that? >> i think it's a little bit disturbing. first of all, you have an individual who decided that he will be the face of social injustice, police brutality toward minority when he said clearly he never experienced himself, there's a lot of people that say you don't have to experience police brutality to know that it is wrong, i agree, i know what it is wrong but what we are talking about here is respect, respect for the national anthem, that's really what the controversies around and there's no excuse for it.
