tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  September 12, 2018 11:00pm-12:00am PDT

11:00 pm
was so beautiful. she couldn't even speak. just saying, thank god. and i said, thank god. >> great patriot. jon's show at 10:00. laura ingraham, take it away. >> laura: hannity, i love jon voight. i missed that, i read about that. thank you for showing it. >> sean: you need to be a guest on the show. >> laura: when? let's get it done. >> sean: i did an hour, you need to do an hour. i need to come on your show. >> sean: i have a lot to work out with you. the left hates you so much. >> laura: yeah, well -- >> sean: putting up pictures of you when you were 12, you were a horrible person at 12. >> laura: cost of doing battle, hannity. >> sean: welcome to the club, welcome to prime time, you made it. >> laura: you warned me. laugh through it all, hannity.
11:01 pm
you had a great show. welcome to "the ingraham angle," i'm laura ingraham. from washington tonight, stay for the full show, we have a lot to get to, the entire hour is going to be appointment viewing for you. we have something important we want to tackle, the ip creasingly hostile tactics of the left from demonization, now outright violence and how it is harming the country. governor mike huckabee, jeff lord, matt schlap p, and others will join us. raymond arroyo is here with story of comedian bounced from a late night talk show for #metoo movement comments. and social media giants trying to tilt the mid-term elections? "seen and unseen" straight ahead and we will bring a live update from the ground in north carolina as hurricane florence bears down on the east coast.
11:02 pm
but first, the new american left, agents of hatred, that is the focus of tonight a angle. in the wake of humiliating defeat in 2016 and after trump had called them out for disastrous policies, democrats and celebrities boosters were seething, just 24 hours after the inauguration, this was their message. >> yes, i have thought an awful lot about blowing up the white house. we are here to be nasty. i'm nasty. >> over the next months and years, we will be called upon to intensify our demand for social justice, to become more militant in our defense of vulnerable populations. >> laura: militant? i'll say.
11:03 pm
fast-forward to today. we are seeing disturbing uptick in politically motivated violence, mostly from the left. abusive behavior, vile language and some cases, physical attacks on people for no other reason except for the fact they are conservative supporters of the president. just this week, here in washington, a trump supporter announced a meet-up, fellow activist at a trump hotel. someone, using an anonymous twitter account with handle dream star justice responded with image of a handgun and the message, i'm coming with a gun and i expect to get numerous blood stains, make america great again hats as trophies. though the account, which supported far left has been deleted, dc police and the f.b.i. investigated the mass murder threat. authorities are right to take these threats seriously. over the weekend republican
11:04 pm
congressi congressional candidate, rudy peters, was in a booth at a fall festival and a man named fazhad farzeli approached him and yelled about president trump and rushed the candidate. fazelli pulled out a switchblade, meant to use on peters. the knife thankful lie malfunctioned and the candidate fought back. the man is charged with felony threat of making deadly threats and other misdemeanors. this comes on the heels of state of vicious attacks over the summer. trump officials and republicans were targeted in public places. sarah sanders, pam bondi, homeland security chief nielsen were said upon by activists. [cheering and yelling]
11:05 pm
>> tens of thousands of people come seeking asylum in the united states. >> what would mr. rogers think about you? taking away health insurance. and bondi, shame on you. shame on you. shame on you. >> laura: even moderate republicans like susan collins are subject to abuse. collins' office has been slammed by calls to vote against supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh. >> attacked for women's beliefs, vote no on kavanaugh, don't be a [bleep], also. >> if you vote for him, you are setting up -- woman, standing there letting trump and his appointees steal from americans, steal the right to choose what
11:06 pm
women do with their bodies, you stood by. i didn't know, i'm so naive. [bleep] you. >> laura: like the destructive an ticks of antifa, count on the justice to justify aggression. this is msnbc contributor alsindor. >> when you listen to these, it is obviously abuse and the language is abhorrent, you feel they are talking about life and death issues. >> laura: now it is important to focus on the word, "but," it is abhorrent, but life and death issues. in other words, as if to say the abuse coming from the left is almost justified. reading between the lines, as they like to say. that certainly was james joseph hodgekinson thought when he tried to assassinate steve
11:07 pm
scalise last year. the threats, demonization, the violence, it is all of peace. steve scalise will join us in a moment. activists on the left created deadly ideology where harassment and doing bodily harm has become essentially legitimate tool of the resistance. this is congresswoman maxine waters from this weekend. >> there are those who said we lack civility when i got up and talked about the president candidate. just tell him, you are not welcome here. [cheering] >> so it frightened a lot of people and of course the lying president said that i had threatened all his constituents. i did not threaten his constituents, his supporters, i do that all the time, but i didn't do it that time.
11:08 pm
>> laura: that's just utterly disgraceful and it is not funny. you know why it is not funny? lives are endangered by reckless speech like this, not political debate, not debating the issues here. it's a conversation that goes one way, you're abhorrent, you are awful, you are like hitler, a nazi, destroy you by any means necessary, that is how the game goes. well, i say it is time for the democratic party to not only condemn this hate speech, but to repu reputeiate repeated political acts of terror before someone loses their life. political battles on both sides? you bet. republicans and democrats should be limited to discourse and debate and sheer protest, that is fine, to allow this dangerous trend, though, to continue, of the kind of stuff we've been see suggest going to take a republic and our politics to places we dare not go.
11:09 pm
and that is the angle. joining us now with reaction, two men who have seen this violence face-to-face, the aforementioned rudy peters, republican congressional candidates attacked by a trump hater just on sunday, along with house majority whip steve scalise, of course we all know over a year ago, congressman scali scalise. both of you, it is wonderful to see you for this important topic. rudy, start with you and go to congressman scalise. tell us briefly what happened on sunday that all americans must know, given the tenor of this debate and discourse today. >> yeah, well, thanks for having me, laura. sunday was another day at the fair, street fair, wonderful people in castro valley, great job by the chamber.
11:10 pm
i had another gentleman running for assembly district 20. we are sitting behind the table, late in the evening and we hear somebody screaming "f"you, donald trump. he has middle finger extended and walking by our booth. we pretty much didn't say a word, watched him walk by, keep an eye on him. he stops, turns around and says, i'll show you and he pretty much bum rushes the table. on our table, we had a coffee cup with flags and ink pens registering voters. he picks up the coffee cup, i get away from the table and start going around to the front of the table. picks up cup, throws it at us, hits ground and breaks. we're pretty much chest to chest at this time. i grab him, throw him to the ground. i don't strike him or fall on top of him, just standing over him, backing up. he had a beer in his hand with
11:11 pm
glass bottle and people screaming, children screaming, it's pretty crowded with family and he jumps immediately up, reaches in his pocket, pulls out a knife and has it over his head screaming, "i'm going to kill you, mf'er, i'm going to kill you," i can see his thumb trying to get the blade to come out. at that point, i'm pretty much fearing for my life. i just looked around and grab the sign at another vendor's booth, a little plastic like sandwich board sign and -- >> laura: you pushed him back? >> when this lunatic gets the knife out, he's going to kill me. >> laura: unbelievable. >> i went back to my booth. >> laura: this is insane. rudy, this is insane. we're glad you are safe. glad the switchblade was not
11:12 pm
operating or he didn't know how to operate it. congressman scalise, i thought about you, the first moment i heard about this, read about it, i thought about you. the everything you and your family have gone through over this past year, your reaction to this entire trajectory since last year to today given what's happened? >> well, laura, first, it's great to be back with and you there is no place for this in american politics. the foupdation of this country is about free and open debate, we encourage it, ultimately placed into the bill of rights, the first amendment to allow freedom of speech to even criticize th government, but not to resort to violence. we actually resolve political differences at the ballot box in america, that is what we've always been about. this violence, the insightfulness, the call to arms in essence, amongst liberals, has to stop. >> laura: the left is saying,
11:13 pm
congressman scalise, donald trump started this, his divisive rhetoric, life or death situation for americans going to lose healthcare, women are going to lose their right to abortion, it is a life and death situation. we don't want you to resort to violence, "but" as maxine waters says, push them back, find them where they are, gas stations, restaurants, don't let people operate like rudy was doing. >> there is no "but" to that statement, like you pointed out. donald trump promised he would fight for forgotten men and women, millions left behind that were not part of the american dream, they had been discarded by the previous administration with horrible economy, crazy regulations, things killing manufacturing. you saw parts of our country being eviscerated, middle class being eviscerated. donald trump said, i'm going to stand up for you. policy --
11:14 pm
>> laura: they don't care. congressman, the left and -- >> we understand that. >> laura: too many of the democrats, eric swallow came out in a tweet and condemned violence toward mr. peters, so that's good. we haven't heard much -- >> we will see more of that. all democrats -- >> laura: maxine waters and nancy pelosi, where are they? congressional candidate being attacked with a switchblade yelling "f" trump and this is another day. >> they need to be called on to call out this kind of violence. if this was going on on the right, every mainstream media would be calling this out, have microphone in our faces, would you denounce it? i would denounce anything that happens on either side, you don't see that enough from the left, needs to happen more. they need to be challenged. where are these liberal talk show hosts that yell and scream and rant and rave? if their insightment is leading
11:15 pm
somebody to go commit violence. >> laura: i'm telling you, it is by any means necessary and everyone watching tonight, you have to understand that were it not for a switchblade not operating and mr. peters having the wear with all and physical strength to push this guy back, you might have had your throat slit and congressman scalise, you came close to dying at that game politically motivated. i don't think it was adequately covered as political violence by the american media. i'm very upset about what is going on. republicans have to be careful with their rhetoric, the president, everybody has to take it down a notch. it is way too hot and debate is great, but this is obscene what is happening. mr. peters, a student group opposed to a speaker on college campuses, think about what happens at berkeley and so forth. check this out, did you agree or
11:16 pm
disagree the student group actions are acceptable if they resort to violence to prevent a speaker from speak something 81% disagree that student group actions are acceptable. that is a good deal, they shouldn't be violent and i think young people, frankly with their head screwed on straight, most know that. rudy, close it out. >> yeah, exactly. this gentleman was 35 years old. he's not aa child. we didn't see him early in the day, not like we had dialogue or issue or conflict where discussing policy issue or stances. i don't know what was in his mind, but the latest report is his mother was with democratic club group there in that area and she -- >> laura: rudy, we're out of time. i tell what you it si don't mean to interrupt you. congressman scalise knows this. this is hatred toward donald trump and his agenda, that is it, not about the country getting better, not about blue
11:17 pm
collar workers, wages going up, opportunities for african americans, it is destroy him by any means necessary using any tool legitimate, illijit mat, most don't care at this point. >> democracy, they don't respect the things this country is foun founded on. >> laura: thank you for joining us. jeffrey lloyd, editor to american spectator and house democratic policy and communications committee, rochelle richie. rochelle, we are getting too close to someone losing his or her life because they stand for a political issue. your reaction to what happened to rudy peters and this call to such a mill fant, forceful, aggressive stance in public against people that people are taking this to the wrong and violent levels. your reaction? >> i think what happened to
11:18 pm
peters is disgusting and unfortunate. i remember being a press secretary at the house when scalise, representative scalise was actually shot and it was heartbreaking for everybody on the hill, whether republican or democrat. i agree with what you said earlier before coming to me, is that we do have to turn down the rhetoric and that is on both sides and i'll be first to say, i don't think this is okay for any elected official to promote any kind of violence whether telling people to be punched in the face or followed and harassed. >> laura: you're condemning maxine waters. i know you condemn trump, do you condemn maxine waters? >> i do not agree, i do not. >> laura: jeffrey, your reaction tonight? >> well, this is disgusting, laura, very, very important conversation to be having here. this is what the american left has been over decades.
11:19 pm
and, you know, the topic could change. they were doing these things, smashing windows in seattle to protest world trade and doing it again 12 years later, 13 years later to protest occupy wall street. this has been going on and on and on and on and frankly leaders of the democratic party have got to stand up and reign this in. gone from democratic party where franklin roosevelt campaignod forgotten man and john f. kennedy, ask what you can do for your country, and shrug your shoulder and violence and maxine waters, it is pathetic, pathetic. it has got to stop or somebody is going to get hurt and steve scalise was already hurt. >> can i say, this is not anything republican and democrat. we have to remember what happened to gabby giffords, as
11:20 pm
well. people are extreme. >> laura: talking about jared, i can't remember his name. wofener. it was initially reported that he was a conservative talk radio listener. false. he was not. this was not -- i believe correct me if i'm wrong, not politically motivated, he was a nut job. violence, period. condemn it, obviously, that was not related to political resistance. we're talking about weaponizing political resistance, jeffrey, last word. >> yeah, this has got to stop. the thing that i am concerned about is precisely because president trump is a businessman with properties all over the country and the world, they're easy targets. i think we've got to reign this stuff in and reign the rhetoric about donald trump in, period. >> laura: we found common ground. great to have you both on tonight. question. how are barack obama and hillary
11:21 pm
clinton coopting the tactics of this resistance? not encouraging violence, but maybe in perpetrating untruths. we'll tell you income. . tell you
11:22 pm

11:24 pm
leading up to midterms, now reverting to a tried and true tactic, willfully deceiving supporters. latest example, the appalling smears of supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh. hillary clinton is following in senator kamala harris comments on abortion even after they have been exposed as lies. former president obama hitting president trump over his attacks on the press. ha, that's funny. hypocrisy galling. associated press published a fact check showcasing obama administration brute force response over leaks to the me a media. joining us is matt shlap p, along with strategist antoine seawright, wish you were here, lonely in the studio. antoine, start with you, the
11:25 pm
deal with brett kavanaugh. okay. i know people can do this, exaggerate claims and so forth, when it comes to this particular criticism of brett kavanaugh, it really is ridiculous, tried to paint him as someone who is saying that there is particular abortion drug that was abort faci ant, quoting the group, priests for life, he wasn't saying that was his opinion, he was summarizing the petitioner's argument in a particular brief he was referencing, but that is not what kamala harris said and hillary clinton in her tweet said the following. she said, first one, be clear about something, brett kavanaugh said, referred to birth control pill as abortion inducing drug, that started alarm bell for me and should for you, too, dog whistle to the right. do you agree hillary clinton mischaracterized, willfully
11:26 pm
mischaracterized what kavanaugh said? >> i won't say i agree with that notion, what i will say, i agree that people sometimes have their own way of interpreting things and they hear them and read them, bottom line, general context senator harris was making and secretary clinton, they were trying to inform the public the dangerous road we're going down when we are on this road to confirming the judge to the highest court in the land for a lifetime. i think what they are doing is trauing real-life examples of why he would be dangerous to women's rights and for the future. >> laura: okay, real-life example would not, i imagine, include purposeful distortion of what judge kavanaugh wrote in an opinion, matt shlap p. i've known brett kavanaugh for years, impressive.
11:27 pm
supremely and well qualified is what they viewed his tenure as on the dc circuit court of appeals. is this where we are now? it is by any means necessary, if you have to lie doshgs it, stop the nomination. >> this is where we are. it is sad, i was a geeky kid, laura, i would watch -- >> laura: nah! >> watch nominees for supreme court, i didn't like the nominees, they didn't always play fair, we had a national conversation about where we wanted the court to be and where we wanted the constitution to be in our society. you can have a conversation about roe v. wade. i have no idea what he's going to do, but to have that discussion. to act like brett kavanaugh said anything about juris prudence on birth control at the hearing is a lie.
11:28 pm
>> laura: yes. >> when they go that far and tweet it out and make it simple when it is complicated, i think they do a great disservice to all of us. i'd like to have meaty conversations about constitutional questions, it would be good for america. >> matt, you say you want to have meaningful conversation, remember it was your party who would not give president obama nominee a hearing to start the conversation. >> yes, it was a wonderful decision. i love that decision. >> of course. that is prime example of hypocrisy at its best. second thing i would tell you -- >> your party doesn't run the senate, you don't get to determine when the hearing is. >> i am heighting hypocrisy of your party who would not give president obama's nominee a hear whoing democrats and know ares agree was well qualified for the bench. >> laura: you are too young to remember all this, i remember a time george h.w. bush, i was in law school, one of my former law professors was on a long list
11:29 pm
of -- >> right. >> laura: court of appeals nominees, just waiting for a vote and when bill clinton came in, what did he do? i mean, they stalled and stalled and stalled -- >> in combination with joe biden in the senate. >> did not get a hearing, there is a difference. >> laura: what is good for the goose is good for the gander on the republican issue, democrats and republicans suffered from the prowess, but we're talking about an actual confirmation hearing, where serious issues are discussed and individuals aren't maligned either personally or purposefully using false smears. that is just not cool on any side. >> laura, i'm all for having a conversation about the nominee and background. i will tell you, like i told everyone, i have concerned about his thoughts on voter id and obamacare. you and matt want to talk about
11:30 pm
smearing and rhetoric from folks in our party. look, the republican party thrives on misinformation and lies at this point. >> laura: yeah, i get your -- >> popular right now. >> laura: so obama and hillary are kind of back by popular demand leading charge for midterm, both are out fanning out. for barack obama, to come out and trash donald trump for being tough on the press? i mean, let's not forget what he did with the -- >> right. >> laura: the act and going after reporters, espionage act going after leaks and whistleblowers, brutar for reporters. >> totally. >> laura: they got fact checked for that. >> there were more constitutional oversteps by obama than any other modern president. >> please don't do that. >> i am talking, my friend. i love hearing your voice, now i get to talk. >> i love hearing yours, too.
11:31 pm
>> i hope your family is safe down there. >> laura: yeah, be careful. >> seriously, obama is trying to have it every which way, comes out and says, what is trump doing with this big economy? it is my economy. the other step, he is saying the economy isn't that solid. look, i think the american people are smart. i think the american people get it. sometimes republicans look foolish when they try to be too clever and sometimes democrats do, too. the american people are smart. political candidates and parties will be rewarded when they shoot straight. that is why donald trump is being rewarded. >> that is why poll numbers -- >> laura: we're out of time, the "new york times" editorial board, no friend of conservative said obama administration moved beyond protecting government secrets to threatening fu fundamental freedom of the press for the news. that is from the "new york times," depending on whose ox is
11:32 pm
being gored here. thank you. coming up, comedian norm macdonald gets bumped from the tonight show. and what common device you might use in the bathroom to make you really sick. all that with raymond arroyo, "seen and unseen," next. and what common device in the bathroom that you use
11:33 pm
11:34 pm
11:35 pm
>> laura: it is time for "seen and unseen" segment, we explore big cultural stories of the day. comedian norm macdonald has tonight show appearance knicksed after remarks on the me too movement. far from the whole story. raymond arroyo is here, best-selling author. raymond, i know how the fallon show cancelled norm macdonald. why? >> raymond: out of sensitivity to the audience. norm macdonald did an interview about netflix, david letterman
11:36 pm
is producing, hardly conservative. he is promoting it and made comments about metoo and his friend roseanne. here is what he said. i'm happy the metoo movement slowed down. it used to be 100 women can't be lying. that became all women. what? like chris hardwick guy, got blunt end of the stick there. his friends, unlike the victims, his friends, comedian suffered more than the victims did. he had to apologize. that was over the line. however, this might be another reason fallon and the tonight show. jimmy fallon went to norm macdonald and said, my producers are crying, you can't come on the show. he said something about his talk show as opposed to the ones that are already on the air, this is what he said and might explain his cancellation, as well. he said ever since jon stewart forced to become political
11:37 pm
pundits, you know, down to jimmy fallon and his treatment of donald trump and to be maligned for "humanizing" trump, funny, i thought he was human. if you have a nominee for president on your show and he's your guest, then he is your guest. >> laura: oh, fallon had to apologize for having trump on. >> raymond: messed up his hair, humanized. president is human, controversial, we reached a low point, whether watching this norm macdonald show or not, new series on instagram t.v. >> laura: i don't know what that is. >> raymond: new t.v. service, it is called "here's the deal" a 10-episode issues-driven show designed to spur young americans to vote in the midterm. who would you think would host such a show, laura? >> laura: they asked me, i'm busy. >> raymond: perfect host, vice president joe biden. >> folks, with less than 100 days until the most
11:38 pm
consequential vote of our lifetime, attention on ig t.v. to break down the issues we all should be vote og this fall. not complicated policy language or confusing activism, just facts, at least as i see them. >> raymond: i think it is slipping. >> laura: did he say acronym? >> raymond: young voters, i feel like he's about to sell me a reverse mortgage. >> laura: he's not talking about democratic dating, he's talking about carbon dating. >> raymond: for a moment, i thought selling shares of retirement. an issue to get young people to the polls, immigration. >> laura: oh. >> for centuries tradition of welcoming immigrants from around the world given us tremendous advantage, best of every nation, we do need to control our border, every country needs to control their border. that does not require ripping infants and children from arms
11:39 pm
of their parents. this administration has to stop using immigration to divide us between us and them. >> raymond: if you are going to do political punditry, where is newt gingrich channel, have balance. >> laura: all left wipg. these things are all left wing, always have been, social media dominated by the left. >> raymond: the nation is coming. >> laura: here we come. >> raymond: quickly, the spreading of disease, laura, in public bathroom. new study, jet sprays. >> laura: i don't like jet sprays. >> raymond: water and muck. they did a study, journal of hospital infection issue, supposedly hygienic. they aerosol bacteria, feces, waste, wait for it, ecoli into the air. you are getting a face full of this stuff. >> laura: facial. wait a second, did you say the journal of hospital infection?
11:40 pm
>> raymond: journal. >> laura: my subscription, who the heck subscribes to that? >> raymond: crawl nothing somebody else's feces, don't use those things. here is what i'm giving you, paper towel. don't use jet sprays. in your face. >> laura: this is news you can use. unseen bacteria. >> raymond: unseen is ecoli growing. >> laura: east coast is bracing, not funny, for hurricane florence and impact, going live to the north carolina coast with last-minute prep and evacuations are underway, next. next metastatic breast cancer is relentless, but i'm relentless too. mbc doesn't take a day off, and neither will i. and i treat my mbc with new everyday verzenio- the only one of its kind that can be taken every day. in fact, verzenio is a cdk4 & 6 inhibitor for postmenopausal women with hr+, her2- mbc, approved,

11:42 pm
be relentless. ask your doctor about everyday verzenio.
11:43 pm
>> laura: fox news alert. hurricane florence is just 330 miles from the carolina coast line. the storm packing soaking rains, high winds and punishing storm surge as the initial bands start to hit the east coast. let's go to fox news senior correspondent steve levin in north carolina. rick. >> laura, it's not here yet. what we have instead is eerie and sureal kind of quiet. the beach is empty tonight, the lights are on, but nobody is home. the only thing we can hear is the ocean, no vehicles on the roads, no people on the sidewalks, main parking area, fishing pier there. completely empty, completely quiet, the main drag, north,
11:44 pm
south, right there. we saw one vehicle, let's go back in here. one vehicle, it was a police car, they came over and told us to get out of the street, get back on our property, we could stay as long as we stayed on our property. mandatory evacuation order. they closed the bridge to wrightsvil wrightsville. no one can get back in. things will get bad tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night and of course, friday, all day potential hurricane-force winds into saturday and the storm surge could be well over our heads where we are standing here if holds true to the prediction. wrightsville beach is empty, some people trying to ride this thing out f. they want to get out, they still can, but time is running out. >> laura: thank you, rick. stay safe out there. the media and democrats are wasting no time using hurricane florence as a political hammer
11:45 pm
to give -- believe it or not, of course you can believe it, against president trump. msnbc trumpeted supposed bombshell document obtained by oregon senator jeff merkley. >> what this document indicates and homeland security is confirming $10 million taken out of budget of fema in advance of hurricane season and transferred to ice for what appears to be detention programs for immigrants. >> we're going from horrendous policy of ripping children out of their parent's arms and trying to reunify those families to a new strategy of building interment camps funded through same account funds would go through ice. >> laura: that does sound like a bombshell and pretty damming, doesn't it? one problem, it's not true. homeland security says under no circumstances were disaster relief funding transferred from fema to immigration enforcement
11:46 pm
efforts. fema spokesperson stated on twitter, "after calling senator merkley's staff about fema budget, we were told, it's a t.v. hit, take it where you can, regardless of the facts, though? unbelievable. joining us with reaction is former arkansas governor, mike huckabee. the whole show has been about how low can they go, michelle obama said, when they go low, we go high. i love that sentiment, but we keep going lower and now playing politics with this absurdly dangerous hurricane in line. your reaction tonight? >> it gets worse, laura. msnbc is runing that same story tonight, even after it has been discredited and totally debufrpged, -- debunked. it tells you facts don't matter,
11:47 pm
it is about politics. joe scarborough saying president trump done more damage than airplanes that flew into the building on 9/11, can you imagine what would have been said of conservative if they said barack obama had done more damage to the country than 9/11 when 3000 souls were murdered in cold blood? i can't even begin to get my arms around what that would have been like. we're dealing with not only the left, but we're dealing with the media that supports it and that is complicit in this kind of outrageous rhetoric against the president and anyone who supports it. >> laura: speaking of that word, governor, cot plicit, this is headline from "washington post" op ed by editorial board. another hurricane is about to batter our coast, trump is complicit. is he actually blowing the wind from the east atlantic?

this is now -- i don't even -- i have lost words to describe how absolutely pathetic and they are out of ideas, they are out of solutions, this is all the bizos post has, apparently. >> this is what you find when people are reduced to howling at the moon. what we basically are seeing with the press, they cannot stop people from supporting the president, cannot stop his policies from working with high employment, with low unemployment, with pay raises and bonuses and businesses coming back and manufacturing returning. >> laura: you think they want the economy to recover? governor, i'm sorry to interrupt, do you think they want this country to succeed? look at blue collar wages, this should be moment of rare unity for the country dochlt they it to succeed? >> they don't. bill mahr says he hopes there is

a recession, crashes the economy, this is the way to get rid of donald trump. he was at least honest about it. the others are not. i didn't like obama because of what they were doing to america. if they had workd and people were prospering under the president when obama was there, i wouldn't have complained, i would have said, maybe we're wrong, good for him. i even said when he was first elected, i hoped he was successful and i meant it. we don't have that from the left right now and don't have it from the press. i repeat myself. >> laura: governor huckabee, great to have you. the thank you. you heard from pollsters and pundits and the trump haters, but do you hear enough from real america? up next, we take you to ohio, where small businessman tells us what the experts are missing about this economy. stay there. ay

unemployment, nothing can satisfy president trump's haters. >> people are all still looking for good jobs, but to hear the president think, talking about how strong the economy is will help him win mid-term districts is foolish. >> laura: it's foolish? can't be that great, a lot of people don't have jobs. brilliant analysis, as always. turn off that noise for a moment and hear from an actual american, who is veeping the fruits of this great economy. joining us on steve, president of staub manufacturing solutions in dayton, ohio. steve, great to have you on. you actually are a working-class american and you beg to differ with mr. soberof, who basically says, well waves it off, it is not that great, wouldn't run on this economy. steve? >> that is not what we're seeing here in manufacturing in dayton, ohio. thanks for having me on tonight.
11:54 pm
here in dayton, we have over 4000 jobs available in the manufacturing industry that we can't fill. >> laura: you have 4000 openings, that means people, even without special skills, can start at a wage of i believe about $15 an hour and so you don't have to go to college, you can get on-the-job training, fantastic news for the country. we need more workers and people willing to work for these jobs. >> we do in the manufacturing industry throughout the united states, half a million jobs available today. many companies like us, we pay for education, with starting wage of $15 an hour. if you need further training, we'll send you to a school or send you to training program to get the skills you need. >> laura: explain what the economy is like for your company today versus let's say five years ago. >> five years ago we were struggling, the entire industry
11:55 pm
was struggling at the time. just as recent as the end of 2016, we had just over 20 people and like 23 people, today we have 41 people. we've seen the industry overall growing and the optimism throughout the industry. the there was a survey not long ago by national association of manufacturers that showed over 95% optimism in the manufacturing industry for the growth of the industry, that is exciting times. >> laura: it is really exciting. it stands in sharp contrast to what president obama said in june of 2016. take a walk down memory lane together, steve. let's watch. >> some of those jobs of the past are not going to come back. he just says, i'm going to negotiate a better deal. well, how exactly are you going to negotiate that? what magic wand do you have and usually the answer is, he doesn't have an answer. >> laura: steve, your reaction?
11:56 pm
>> i remember that. i'm excited to see jobs have come back. i'm excited to see policies coming out of the administration that are beneficial to the manufacturing industry and beneficial to the country, as a whole, and upon hadding the industry grow. >> laura: do you hope the republicans and democrats can come together and keep this economy going or hoping for a blue wave? >> i don't see politics in the manufacturing industry. really shouldn't be. the only red or blue in the industry is flag that flies on every shop floor. >> laura: god bless you, i love that sentiment, we need more of it. steve, thanks so much and congrats on great turnout for your company. keep it going. coming up, joy behar shoots her mouth off again and immediately regrets her decision, the last bite, next. he's a genius. she's also a genius. and so are they. because they all went to lendgenius.com to find the loan they needed.
