that's our story on this tuesday night. what do you think about that? tucker carlson is warming up and getting ready for his big show which is coming up just about six seconds away. we will see you tomorrow. ♪ >> tucker: good evening and welcome to "tucker carlson tonight." all of washington is girding for next monday, six days from now when palo alto psychology professor christine ford has been invited to testify on capitol hill about the assault that she says she's suffered at the hands of supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh sometime around 1982. both republicans and democrats say they want ford to testify on the hill but no one has explained exactly what the rest of us could possibly learn from that. ford says she has already recounted everything she can remember about the details at this point are thin including when and where that assault
5:01 pm
allegedly took place. brett kavanaugh for his part has denied that any of it ever happened, and so has as high school friend of mark judge who poured claims was there that night. so that is the sum total of what we know and it's still a matter of she said, they said. so without a lot more evidence it's hard for anyone to prove anything. but that has not stopped leading democrats from reaching a firm conclusion in this case. how do they know for sure what happened 36 years ago? because brett kavanaugh is a man and therefore he is guilty. it's the y chromosome. watch as a hawaii and noted geneticist maisie romo describes it. >> they need to be heard but they need to be believed. guess who is perpetuating all of these actions? it's the men in this country. and i want to say to the men in this country, just shut up and step up, do the right thing for a change. >> tucker: did you catch that,
5:02 pm
it's not just brett kavanaugh who is guilty, it's "the men" of this country. every single one of them because they are men. christine ford meanwhile is telling the truth because she is a woman. she is female, you must believe her. that's a command from the united states senator and it's not optional but mandatory. so repeat after maisie. men always lie, women never do. one is evil and the other is holy. that's the catechism of the church of late stage feminism. does anyone actually believe this nonsense? of course not. it's ridiculous, divisive and crazy. virtue is not restricted to a single gender or for that matter a single race. for a time it seemed like we had moved past ideas like those, they are corrosive. but now they are back in force and because the left has already decided conclusively what happened in 1982, further evidence is irrelevant. as democrats explained today,
5:03 pm
there is nothing brett kavanaugh could do to prove his innocence. senator tim came of virginia cd that's very hypothetical. while it's not very hypothetical to brett kavanaugh and his wife and their daughters. imagine you are accused of a sex crime and informed by a lawmaker that there really was really no way you could beat the charge, no matter what evidence you presented. how would you respond to that? you probably wonder what country you are living in. definitely not america. these are the democratic party's' new standards and it goes without saying that they are highly subjective and not applied to everyone. it depends entirely on how useful you are. senator ted kennedy drove his oldsmobile off of a bridge with a young woman inside. he fled the scene and left her but never sum it helped. he didn't want the dui arrest.
5:04 pm
the young woman that he abandoned slowly asphyxiated over a number of hours. ten years after doing that, he ran for democrat and he died a hero. you are watching something similar unfold with the deputy chair of the national committee, keith ellison. last month he was credibly abused of physically abusing an ex-girlfriend, karen monahan. apparently she never heard about it because nobody in the party seems to believe monahan despite the fact that she is a woman. as she put it "i have been smeared, threatened and isolated for my own party all for the sake of the allegation she made for daring to speak in public. we asked the dnc today about the ellison case and they did not have much of a response." we take allegations of sexual abuse seriously and we are working with the state party to review the allegations. right, we are confident it will be a thorough investigation.
5:05 pm
on the other hand, why would it be? none of us ought to be in the investigations business in the first place. political parties, college administrators, rappers, all of us. we are not people we want determining anybody's guilt or innocence. we have a legal mechanism for doing that. it's not flawless but for almost 250 years our justice system has function pretty well. it's pretty straightforward. if you believe a crime has been committed against you, you report it. that would include theft, embezzlement and sexual assault. go to police. it's not easy but it's still your obligation as a citizen, if not at least to protect the rest of us from whomever you believe did it. the police investigate and a judge or jury rendered a verdict. that's due process. it's the cornerstone of our system and one of the main reason people moved to this country from other places, because it works. it's more fair they are then by

at this nomination. we need a major fbi investigation. as you pointed out, there's nothing to investigate. they want to appoint a blue ribbon commission and maybe they will wrap up their work sometime next february. it's purely for delay. >> tucker: so can i ask you, why not an independent counsel? i am giving everybody every benefit of every doubt. i'm not attacking ford who again, i said he was a nice person. this is a political tactic designed to prevent the president from putting his nominee on the court. why are the republicans in congress playing along with this? >> i think some of them, and this is the only thing that i think makes it dangerous for republicans and for kavanaugh and for the republic because there are certain republicans in the senate who so hate trump that they would put their egos above the good of the country, and what so many republican said
5:15 pm
about voting every four years, they would have to do it for the supreme court nominee is. maybe for ben sasse. maybe not for senator bob corker. they just so hate trump, that could end up hurting cavanaugh . then you have cnn running the country. it's a meteor running the country because this allegation could be against anyone at any time, obviously nondespicable. the second best thing to happen would be too solid as long as possible and that is unmistakably in my judgment what this is all about. statement the vote was scheduled for thursday. but we are waiting for her to testify monday. now, she is saying we need to delay until the fbi investigates so she's not delaying at the fbi is not investigating, or the vote be thursday? >> the committee will want to bend over backwards to make it clear that they really want to hear from her. the story must be told and i suspect they will keep that date open a couple more days. what's happening here, we are living in an atmosphere in which a woman comes forward and makes an allegation, the burden of proof is on the defendant of the accused. and that is -- if nobody is saying that exactly out right but that's a subtext of all these comments. richard blumenthal for example is saying that he can't identify certain circumstances under
5:51 pm
which -- and others identify circumstances under which the nominee can clear his name. you heard tim kaine say, that's a big hypothetical. as if his innocence is a hypothetical. that is where we are. but the political power, the me too movement israel and republicans are all bending over backwards to see and have her story told. >> tucker: we have not attacked her, and ice sincerely feel sorry for her. there is a process to fill a vacancy on the supreme court and, why should this story delay it if she's not willing to come to washington and testify? i don't understand why this can't go forward. >> i think what you hear from senator lindsey graham and others, is that they are prepared to go forward. they just have to leave this door open for a little while, is
5:52 pm
what looks like to me. and, this is a tiny handful of senators. susan collins, lisa murkowski, jeff flake who is on the committee and could by his single no vote keep the nomination coming out, and, this hearing date is one manifestation of that. >> jeff flake has a lot of power tonight. >> but for the moment he's got some say. >> tucker: brit hume, thank you very much. and he joins us next on that.

so how would you like to meet carter page, the former truck campaign advisor was spied on by the obama administration. at people in the media, a lot of them have repeatedly suggested he is a russian spy and they were egged on in that by politically motivated leaks from the economic government and doj. despite all that, he's never been charged with a single crime and there is no indication he ever will be. thanks to the declassification that we've been telling about, we will finally get to see why he was spied on. can't imagine the money you've spent and your reputation has been sullied to put it mildly. >> things could have turned out so much worse. if president trump had listened to this fake intel report from comey, klapper and brennan in
5:58 pm
2017, imagine the wars i could have led to. >> tucker: a while sure. what do you expect to learn from these declassified documents? >> i think it will be a complete laughingstock. every premise, anything that i was ever asked by members of congress, the fti, various government institutions, it was all just preposterous from the very beginning. >> they accuse to you -- you graduated from a military, people accusing you of betraying your country, how does that feel? >> again. thankfully we have president trump's leadership working through in terms of -- you know, the impact it's had on him and his administration, this is a minuscule problem that i have had to deal with.

>> you either have a deep religious faith or you are on xanax or something that the evenness of your temperament is amazing to me. there's one question in 30 seconds that you want answered in these documents, what would it be? >> who is responsible for all this? there's obviously a lot of people that have some culpability, but let's see who did what to whom. >> tucker: i can't wait to find that out. if i had a dollar for everyone's that has set on this set, -- i don't even know you. outside the studio, we've never even met. carter page, godspeed. that's about it for us tonight, tune in every night including tomorrow, the next night and the night after that to the show that is the sworn enemy, and we mean it, of lying, pomposity, smugness and groupthink, all of which are overwhelming this country and especially the city
