tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  October 1, 2018 11:00pm-12:00am PDT

11:00 pm
pocahontas is considered a conservative. >> in 36 days five weeks from tomorrow you haveou the power to shock the world begin and the media and left. let not your heart be troubled. here is laura inham. next studio over. >> laura: in the make up room now -- >> you want to kick me out of dc. >> it's a swamp. a sewer. i don't particularly like it here. >> laura: you did something to my folders. they were all in order and then you changed them around. >> i don't. understand this. laura's producers gave me a pile this high and they tape it and me i've got papers all over the place. >> laura: it's called organization, hannity.
11:01 pm
>> sean: is that what they call it. thanks for sharing your studios. have a good show. >> laura: you take care. i'm laurais inham. we have a show full of exclusives. theni ex boyfriend of julie swetnick. major issue --s with her credibility.ok and what about dr. ford's the ingram angle got a hold of the textbooks. it's like a walk down memory lane. but first christine blasey ford's credibility gab. that is the folk of tonight's angle. -- >> rachael mitchell the prosecutor to question brett kavanaugh and his accuser
11:02 pm
christine blasey ford last week has produced a report. her findings are fascinating and speak to dr. ford's credibility. her over-all appraisal, mitchell find the a caught allegations against kavanaugh to be weak and in the legal context here is her bottom line. a he said she said case is incredibly difficult to prove but this case is even weaker than that. dr. ford identified other witnesses and those either refuted her allegations or failed to corroborate them. for the reasons discussed below i do not think a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case. mitchell then offers a nine point critique based on the evidence at hand. dr. ford has not offered a consistent account of when the
11:03 pm
alleged assault happened. enter july 6th text to the washington post ford said it occurred in the mid-1980s and then changed her story in a letter to diane feinstein where she claims it happened in the early '80s and her polygraph statementd in august ford said the assault happened one high school summer in the '80s. it changes. she crossed out the word early. dr. ford has struggled to identify judge kavanaugh as the assailant by name. dr. ford has no memory key details of the night in question. details that could corroborate her account. in your letter you said they went down the stairs and they were talking with other people. -- >> correct. >> in the house. >> were you able to hear that conversation. >> i was not able to hear that conversation. >> how do you know there n was a
11:04 pm
conversation? >> just assuming it was a social gathering people were talking. i don't know. >> you said you do not remember how you got home. is that correct? >> i do not remember other than i did notot drive home. >> okay. has anyone come forward to say to you hey remember i was the one who drove you home? >> no. >> laura: ford can't remember who invited her to the sporty the location of the party and the alleged abuse nor how she got home or how she arranged a ride there. all of this leaders mitchell to her next account. judge kavanaugh -- all denied any such party occurred. ford's friend kaiser goes further that she had no
11:05 pm
recollection of being at a party with kavanaugh and never knew him. recall that when dr. ford was questioned about her really good friend's testimony she kind of threw her under the bus. >> do you have any particular motive to ascribe to lee land. >> we could take those one at a time. leland has significant health challenges and i'm happy that she is focusing on herself and getting health treatment that she needs and she let me know that she needed her lawyer to take care of this for her. >> laura: so giles -- guys, we have inconsistencies, discrepancies and inconsistencies and shades of changing the story. it goes on and on and on. now if the media cares to examine kavanaugh's credibility
11:06 pm
on questions if he drank too much or blacked out, fine. do it. but you've got to hit these other issues as well. to me it's just fair and that is the question of media credibility reporters' credibility, it can't be off-limits. after the process of confirmation has already concluded and you're going to go before the committee and you're going to say all of this stuff and them the media is not going to question you? i find that to be absurd. rachael mill i'll goes on to suggest that in her professional opinion ford has not offered a consistent account of the alleged assault.er and so this just keeps on shifting and shifting. the therapist's notes indicate four boys were in the room when the assault occurred and then
11:07 pm
four boys were at the party but only two were in the room. in here testimony she said four boys and her friendly land were at the party but she could not recall the name of the 4th boy. now perhaps the most daming of mitchell's critiques was this one. dr. ford has struggled to recall important recent events and her testimony regarding recent events raises further questions about her memory. >> did you show a full or partial set of those marriage therapy records to the washington post? >> i don't remember. i remember summarizing for her what they said. so i'm not quite sure if i actually gave her the record. >> laura: forget her recall
11:08 pm
about an assault 36 years ago. ford could not recall events from just a few weeks earlier. she couldn't remember if she gave the washington post a partial portion of her therapist's notes. that is a pretty big deal. now none of this is of interest to the media. they spent the weekend fact checking and questioning the credibility of judge kavanaugh. >> have to matter in my view to the senators who are considering their vote whether or not judge kavanaugh actually lied about his activities and behavior over the course of his younger days. >> there were places where i thought he was not forthcoming and telling the truth. >> questions into whether or not he lied in his testimony. >> it is no longer about the credibility of the accuse eras
11:09 pm
it is about kavanaugh's credibility. >> in light of mitchell's sober analysis that she released -- shouldn't the media be concerned about the credibility of ford'sh account. substantiating witnesses and corroboratings, witnesses and wn all three are called in question by mitchell isn't it time for the media to entertain the fact that they may have gone too far in their coverage and that is the angel. joining me now -- former secret service agent -- why aren't democrats taking the report for mitchell more seriously. >> this whole notion thatat we'e
11:10 pm
looking at this as a criminal proceeding a miss direction and actually people feel sorry for rachael mitch i'm. she is being used as a pawn. she got cut off when she seemed to be getting close to something.se look, the fact is a real prosecutor would have spoken to witnesses face to face not just in the perverse setting. they would have -- >> laura: hold on because i really want to keep this focused. my question is a simple one. why aren't the democrats and journalists for that matter why aren't they interested in examine the facts of the case. i understand people are emotional. there is false memory syndrome. i get all of that.
11:11 pm
however there are real discrepancies that she hasve tod to the washington post and diane feinstein and to investigators. mitchell is not a political actor saying iin want to get fod or i want to exonerate kavanaugh. it's way overboard on the other side. i question kavanaugh -- but it seems like no one wants to touch ford's credibility which is odd. >> let'st let the fbi question everybody who was there including mark judge whose girlfriend -- >> laura: i get your point. i'm focusing on christine ford's credibility. >> she was specific about the bedroom and the stairway and the bathroom and the running out. this was traumatic for her in the way it was not for anyone else that was there. >> laura: and the people she
11:12 pm
said were there are saying they there.t her closest friend said that she never met brett kavanaugh. she had no memory. >> that is what her lawyers letter said. >> laura: her friend threw her under the bus. >> let's let the friend get examined by the fbi. let'sl see what she says. >> laura: dan, in reaction to just what we heard in from dr. ford last week but this very detailed very matter of fact report from mitchell. >> well, the report is devastating. this is a trained prosecutor in these matters. i did criminal prosecutions and i'm experienced in interviewing people and richard doesn't know
11:13 pm
what he is talking about. he is playing a democratic activist on the show and i'm going to pray for his soul and i mean that because his role and the democrat goons were not willing to ask and answer an honest question about the credibility of ms mitchell's report. why dr. ford -- by all means her story was heard and the republicans were very respectful. it's time that people pay the same respect to judge kavanaugh. it is only fair. >> so let's let the fbi, i will concede that the fbi and no political actor should get to the bottom of every one of these facts. they should basically put
11:14 pm
christine blasey ford through the mill and make sure -- >> have you ever done a federal background investigation? just asking. >> i've tried cases inn federal court. >> i have. i have. see i did this so you don't know how this works and what you're saying is that the fbi does criminal investigations and background. they don't. they get history backgrounds. they don't do criminal investigations into areas they have no purview on. this is not what the fbi does. you making this sound like they are going to put people on polygraphs is a lie and a miss direction. >> laura: i want to talk about how the goal posts have shifted from whether an assault occurred to whether brett kavanaugh drinks too much or drank too much in college.
11:15 pm
let's watch. >> the reports -- were the hardest drinkers on campus. >> also former friends and classmatesie -- and roommates wo say that he wasat as we heard yesterday -- say he was a sloppy drunk. >> you have these other people -- from parts of his life who have said that he was belligerent when he was drunk and other things. >> laura: well, i don't know -- having been to a few fraternity parties in my day that is pretty much a lot of people. you lose so many people -- well he was a sloppy drunk. who's a neat drunk? i guess a happy drunk. but i think this is looking so ridiculous. now it's like an animal house kind of deal. he is a sloppy drunk.
11:16 pm
>> one is -- trying to give him the opportunity to say if you didn't really remember things because you drink to be excess and look at his comportment if a woman was up for supreme court justice and comported herself the way he did she would be labeled hysterical and unfit. i'm sorry that is the two issue that's people are trying to get at. >> laura: i would not say a woman was being historical. if she was defending herself against false charges. ii think it was smart for him to do that. guys, thank you so much and it might have seem like a good idea for the democrats but how will the strategy play out in
11:17 pm
november? it could be responsible for a red wave in the mid-terms. ryan writes -- if democrats fall short this november they will suffer the rightful consequences of using the victims of sexual assault to advance a political agenda. bryan joins us now. now if this tactic worked in the past why wouldn't it work now? >> we've hit a different point. people have used people's backgrounds to slime in dc. that is not new. but starting in july through middle september there was a victim of sexual assault with allegations that could have been investigated with the degree of discretion and care for this woman but instead it was held and dropped like a bomb before the political vote.
11:18 pm
it has retraumatized millions so forio the folks that are watchig i guarantee you a whole bunch of people are incredibly frustrated left, right and center having to go through these accusations let alone this woman being drug through the mud. >> laura: some polling that it is split. most republicans believe kavanaugh. independents are split down the middle. there are some interesting state races. in north dakota heidi high camp has a 10 point deficit. and one issue that is being cited is the kavanaugh hearing. and in missouri claire may cass well -- is down -- against josh holly and this is also after t
11:19 pm
-- the kavanaugh issue. when it boils down could this be that the year of the woman that weha saw 1992 becomes the year f the man or the year of the women who are sick of all of these charges. not to put too fine of a point on this but maybe it's going to flip. it could happen. >> i think there is two things. less gender and this is more of a partisan issue. republicans who have been soft. and rising up and saying this is asi line that has been crossed d it is way too far. the real question is independents which right now are split. if you see an fbi investigation thatti comes back saying there s nothing there and a lot of the folks even moderate democrats are going to see through this for what it is.
11:20 pm
avenue it is an absolute fraud that is unforgivable. >> laura: bryan, thank you so much and as democrats push to investigate the wild kavanaugh accusations made by julie swetnick her former boyfriend joins us next to tell us why he joins us next to tell us why he thinks she
11:21 pm
11:22 pm
11:23 pm
>> laura: the claims of brett kavanaugh's third accuser julie swetnick are so outlandish and we were skeptical from the start. numerous stories about her past have trickled out including one from our next guest richard vinneccy. for more we're joined in a
11:24 pm
television exclusive by mr. vinneccy himself along with his lawsuit. thank you for joining us tonight. richard,to what are your motivations for coming forward now? >> this is -- has to do with political issues. ii believe i came here to tell the truth and it's my civic duty to do so. >> laura: you claim richard that ms swetnick threatened you after you broke up with you. what types of threats? >> she called me many times and i was -- told i will never ever see my in born child. and that i'm going to kill you guys. >> laura: she said she was going the kill you?
11:25 pm
>> yes and that scared me a little bit. >> laura: you said you threatened -- she threatened you and your baby. >> i meant the unborn child at that time. i was not married at that time. >> laura: did she everd discuss with you in your relationship the issue of sexual assault or did she mention ever having been sexually assaulted? >> never, never once did she mention that to me and we used to talk about everything. >> laura: did she had a political background. was she interested in politics? >> not that i know of. she always wanted to be the center of attention and she also was -- if anyone knows julie --
11:26 pm
and everything that came out of her mouth was exaggeration and she never mentioned that to me at all i was surprised to hear this and actually i was surprised to see her making these accusations because she never ever mentioned that to me at all. >> laura: you filed a restraining order in march 2001 after these threats. you said repeated phone calls to you threatening you and your unborn child and your family. but you never followed through with it. you never appeared in court. if you were so threatened by julie swetnick your ex girlfriend then why didn't you follow-through? >> and that is a question that everybody is asking and the reason i didn't was because i knew i had to see her again. i talked to my family and we decided not to do anything becausee i didn't want to provoe
11:27 pm
her. i knew the type of person julie is and i was afraid to be honest with you. so wee decided to leave it alone in the hopes that it would go away because the only thing i was concerned with was the well-being of my family. so we decided to change our numbers and move and that is what we did. and right after that we never heard from her again. >> laura: and after you came forward in that initial interview with politico did you hear from any of her representatives or from her at all? >> not at all. not at all. >> >> laura: your own credibility has been called in to by her lawyer michael avenatti. let's watch. >> her boyfriend said she cannot be trusted. that it's a credibility thing. swetnick cannot be trusted.
11:28 pm
>> no. it's ludicrous. one lawsuit was filed and almost immediatelyos dismissed. theia claims by her ex boyfriend -- who doesn't have an ex boyfriend or ex girlfriend who might say things about them. >> laura: people are going to say you don't like her because you were with her for seven years and then you had a bad ending. >> yeah. like i say again like i said before if anyone knows julie swetnick i know her. if you ask me personally if i believe her, i don't believe her. i really don't believe her. and he could say what he wants is that i know and that is why i came here to tell the truth.
11:29 pm
i know how she is. >> laura: you were with her for seven years. why seven years? >> that is true. for the first couple of years we had a nice relationship. we were together off a on for seven years. the first couple of years about a year and a half -- -- and then was transferred and i came back a couple of years later. we were seeing each other once in a while but the more i saw how basically -- experienced the things that she was doing i didn't like it and the fact that she was lying to me. sheg talked about everybody. she talked about lawsuits. she was -- about lawsuits. she was trying to at one point she told me i was filing a lawsuit against american
11:30 pm
airlines. so i -- you're going to have to stop this lawsuit thing because it's ridiculous. she would talk to me about her family. shee would do odd things. we would get into fights. she would get right in my face and ask me to hit her. that is very weird. most of my friends did not like her. i can testify about that and i was -- >> laura: hold on, richard. she asked you to -- she would say hit me and why would she say that? >> i don't know. that was before any minor issues that wee had. she would always get into my face and the first time i experienced that -- oh, my god this is incredible. she would say hit me. andhi remember what happened toy ex boyfriend and i would walk
11:31 pm
away. >> laura: richard, i knowsi youe had some financial issues in the pastom and you have not shied ay from that. correct? you s got underwater on a mortgage. you've had your own issues. >> that is correct. like everybody else. >> laura: when you watched her testify last week when she sent through the heartfelt description of what happened to her at the hands of what she said was brett kavanaugh what wentan through your mind when te rest of the country saying she is so credible and believable you knew her for seven years -- what was going through your mind? >> well first of all when i first heard her name mentioned on tv i was thinking oh, my god. >> laura: rephrase. she didn't testify. when you heard her come out with these allegations of this
11:32 pm
hideous attack, a gang rape. a sexual assault. you had been with her for seven years. had she ever said anything about gang rape. >> never. and we talked about everything. she never once mentioned this to me at all. >> laura: richard, marcia thank you so much for being with us tonight. w we'll try to have you back if other things come up but we really appreciate and your time. brett kavanaugh's high school yearbook under intense media scrutiny. but what about christine blasey ford's. we have our hands on them and we'll reveal that next.
11:33 pm
11:34 pm
11:35 pm
>> laura: activists on the left have created a deadly ideology where harassment and even doing bodily harm has become a
11:36 pm
legitimate tool of the resistance. to allow this dangerous trend to continue of the kind of stuff that we've been seeing is going to take a republic and our politics to places we dare not go. now we at the angle have been warning about these hostile tactics. and when two activists cornered jeff flake in the elevator they found they could get results. tell me again why we shouldn't confront republicans until they stop being complicit in the d destruction of our democracy. lookr at this chorus of entitled white men justifying a serial rapist e arrogant entitlement. all of them deserve miserable
11:37 pm
deaths -- -- -- >> laura: this is quite something. joining us monica crowley -- monica we have so many things to get to. so glad we have you. do democrats really believe this extreme behavior is going to carry them to victory in november? where is the line drawn or is the line gone is this. >> the left is either engaged in performance anger or destruction theater. or they are engaged in inciting violence against those with whom they disagree. we've reached a tipping point with the leftist shooting up the baseball field and nearly killing steve scalise. that act of violence i thought would wake up people on the left
11:38 pm
that they can have their radicalism and try to fundamentally transform the nationan but i thought they woud back off from their incite meant to violence and instead what we've seen is they've actually ratcheted up. because they think it works and inin fact it has not just here t elsewhere around the world. they not backing off. they are actually ratcheting it up. >> laura: this started during the campaign. we saw what happened when he planned to go to chicago. they basically threatened him out of chicago. threatened violence and so forth. i've got to get your thoughts on this next exclusive.
11:39 pm
nobody seems interested in the other side of the equation. the culture at christine blasey ford's high school. so we got our hands on three-year's of the year book and it's normal stuff but also like a raucous party atmosphere.. what do we know about ford's partying ways and nobody seems interested in asking the questions. i think a lot of people because. i've talked to them are afraid to say anything because then you're shaming the victim but this is not a criminal trial. this is a supreme court confirmation process with no corroborating witnesses. >> the feminist movement was all about equal treatment for women, right. but now what we've seen with the bastardation of the me too movement is all women are to be
11:40 pm
treated as delicate flowers. women making accusations some of whichh are true and some of whih may be false but they are all to be protected in some sort of insulated zone because they are never to be questioned. well isn't that the exact opposite of what the feminist movement was all about? we're supposed to be treated as men are. okay, fine. what is good for the goose is good for the gander. then let's see her high school yearbook? was she the equivalent of a nun? maybe she was. the fact that we're here during a supremee court nomination process is theater of the absorb. >> laura: parents are out and kids party. they joke about the party for arbor day and celebrations. it's thehe party culture. that is a fact. >> it was high school.
11:41 pm
>> laura: in the '80s and high school now. they are talking about kavanaugh. a sloppy drunk and looking through the yearbooks -- we got three of them. this is what the kids were doing in all of these schools. holt on arms and georgetown prep did not have a lot of cross pollinating. most is land dan school. and houlton arms theyho had a lt of parties not so much georgetown prep. i've got to play one thing for u. this is michael avenatti talking about brett kavanaugh going back to the julie swat nick allegations -- about whether kavanaugh was seen spiking punch versus what swetnick said earlier about the same thing. have the sound bites butted up against each other. let's watch.
11:42 pm
>> did you see bret kavanaugh spiking the punch? >> i saw him giving red solo cups to quite a few germs during that time frame and there was green punch and i would not take one of those glasses from brett kavanaugh. i saw him around the punch containers. >> -- told me u directly that mk judge and brett kavanaugh would spike the punch with grain alcohol and qualudes. -- >> that one time in college brett kavanaugh threw ice on someone. >> laura: should definitely not be a supreme court. >> we've gone from brett
11:43 pm
kavanaugh who's a gang -- rapist to someone who threw ice. "brett and sierra show."
11:44 pm
brett kavanaugh. heather butts.
11:45 pm
11:46 pm
>> they bullied me. and said don't go out there with that hat on. okay. i'm going to listen to you now. and i'll put my superman cape on. this means you cannot tell me what to do. 90% of news are liberals. so they make it seem like it's so one sided. i'm have free. >> laura: that was rapper kanye west responding to his critics. of course which he was booed by
11:47 pm
the snl audience. i think conyea has got everyone spun around -- i can't figure out if he is admitted struggling with mental illness or is this a political stance of his and he truly believed it and he is miss informed. >> i don't think anyone can be a supporter of trump -->> >> laura: we got you. end of segment. >> honestly i think it's hard because i n think anybody african-american who supports republicans -- there is no reason to support trump if you're african-american. he said he cut the unemployment rate for african-americans.
11:48 pm
obama cut it in half and trump lowered it in one point. >> laura: kanye west is -- very kind of -- he is an out there figure. i think he is interesting. doing a whole performance art on thema whole monolithic train industry. he was cool five minutes ago and now he has a red hat on that says make america great again and now cukoo. >> it was all good a week ago and when he broke songs and was bold -- jesus walks. i was completely and totally dismayed when i posted kanye's picture with him on the jet with the mark america great again and asked people what i thought. and if you see the comments i couldn't believe it. itit was outrageous.
11:49 pm
the names that people called him cool and the alike. they applauded him. my friend on the other side i think that was great. he enjoyed it when he said that but the moment you begin to think differently -- or say things that maybe shatters group think s when it comes to being a republican you are considered an outcast. and it's not just the black community it's the entire communities almost when you talk about the folks on the left why is this displaced when it comes to black people. you don't hear that when they talk about white americans. >> laura: give you the last word because because trump is doing good things for the economy it's good for all people. nafta. we didn't even mention and a half do. huge deal.
11:50 pm
deps wanted to do it. trump got it done. >> you were criticizing kanye because he was black. he wasn't sure if he could figure out if abraham lincoln was black or white. and he is saying stupid stuff. >> have you ever been correct and accurate in every statement. >> absolutely not. >> you are entitled to make mistakes and entitled to apologize. >> laura: i want to do another town hall and i want you both coming because we have to talk about this whole issue of race in america. where we are today and i wouldof love to have you on today. thank you so much. in the entirety of dr. ford's accusations rely on a single memory. could it be false memory?

>> laura: the cavs gnaw assault accusations are based on one person. could itt be a false memory. joiningus us is professor robert matter an expert in experimental psychology. how a false memory may be at play here. >> thank you for having me on, laura false memories are interestings . volumes of research shows where you can implant memories in children. and the key to that is the image has a lot of details and has to be thought about many times over and over again and easy to imagine. the availability -- allows us to base our belief and the
11:55 pm
confidence of what we're retrieving on how easily we recalledtr it. >> laura: would would spur you to create a false memory? >> well some of the -- has demonstrated that therapy itself and that is not all types of therapyov but there are cases. >> laura: if you have a problem currently and in her case it was with her husband about two doors she wanted at the front of her house. he got upset about it and then something did happen to her and she sees brett kavanaugh's name -- mentioned as a possible supreme court nominee and she -- how does the brain work? >> that is one possibility and in 1975 there is a case by at name of donald thompson.
11:56 pm
he studied memory and eyewitness testimony in australia and what mr. thompson did was on air giving a discussion about this when a woman was brutally raped and she results seeing his picture and told police that he was the one who did it but the fact that e had an airtight albie -- -- and he was on the air at the time -- >> laura: the last bite up next.
