the storm surge is a grave threat along alligator point where we are this is the gulf of mexico behind me and homes like this are in serious threat of being entirely washed away. the reason why the combination of unprecedented 12 to 14 storm surge along with the miles and miles, upwards of 40, 50, 60 miles of shallow water in the gulf behind us washing in to this area with a cat four storm and going into the low lying march areas all the way 30, 40 miles due north to tallahassee, this area is guaranteed to flood. that's why in franklin county officials have said you must get out. moments ago before we went live along this road i want to show you quickly we just saw people that we met yesterday rushing out of here. we asked them to stop and talk to us. they said we've got to go we are heading west and north as fast as we can this road washed out on a much smaller

never ever been hit by a category 4 storm. this is historic for them. they have never felt something like this. 140 mile-per-hour sustained winds and storm is expected to still strength as it impacts the folder panhandle as well as the big bend. the worst side of the storm is the east side of the storm. get the worse of the storm surge, in some cases 14 to 15 feet which will but the homes and towns under water. and that's going to be the dangerous part of the storm. in addition to heavy rainfall, in addition to hurricane force winds for hours and tornadoes athletic as well. we have one. i just want to show you this the safir simple wind scale. we are a cat 4. this will be a catastrophic wind event. as we go through time expecting landfall sometime between 1 and 3:00:00 p.m. the results not only for

florida but georgia, alabama, up towards the carolinas with heavy rain impact. tornado watch already in place. we could see dozens of tornadoes. weak tornadoes but ones that could cause structural damage. so this is obviously a big story. the tornadoes threat will extend into georgia and parts of south carolina and some of the areas that were affected by florence will also be affected by rainfall. the storm surge, though, by the way, will be historic in this area, that's what's going to put all of these areas under water. steve: all right. on the dirty side of the storm as they say, janice, thank you very much. 8 to 12 feet. we will be talking to the governor of the state of florida, rick scott will be joining us live at 7:2020 give us the very latest. florida the panhandle is getting ready for michael. brian: i know we have got to worry about hurricane first and foremost. audition for all the candidates. senator rick cot senator rick scott. ron desantis has a chance to get his hands dirty in

for, what you care about. that's why i believe if we are fortunate enough to win back the house and/or the senate, that's when civility can start again. ainsley: really you will continue to get harassed in restaurants outside unless you vote for democrats? brian: that's what she is saying and blaming it on republicans as if democrats have no choice. ainsley: republicans aren't doing. this. brian: rand paul saying i basically sleep with a gun. rand paul i think someone is going to get killed. steve scalise tweeted out something to the effect of really? lack of siflted. so instead of her reigning it in. she is trying to own that portion of the democratic party. for some reason she is desperate to matter and desperate to say listen, i'm still your leader. ainsley: is it a bullying tactic many people saying i want it to stop and our country beauty phi again. the only way that will happen if you vote for dems. then you have people in the

out the elections. there will be changes, i'm sure in this administration, although i'm not privy to them like there is in every administration after every election. this is before the election. it demonstrates that probably nikki haley was just to the point where she was ready to take the next phase in her life. brian: i never remember a u.n. ambassador with more power and more impact than her. she asked for two things. i need access to you and a member of the national security council. she had the respect of the secretary of state and both secretaries of state. how did she do it? >> this is a tough, tough job. anybody who knows nikki haley knows she is forceful and charming person. actually the president enjoyed his interactions with her. he knew she was up there on the floor at the u.n. and give him another perspective not just the department of state. brian: resignation written two weeks ago when it was officially announced it was top secret. >> yes.

take a listen. >> we have just been through so many that we are comfortable staying so we are going to. we have got enough food and generator gas so we'll be just fine. >> the view from space shows hurricane michael as a well-organized storm over the warm waters of the gulf of mexico. the warm waters fueling the heavy winds that could drive a storm surge in excess of 13 feet in some parts of the florida panhandle. governor rick scott urging residents not to take any chances. >> the most destructive storm to hit the florida panhandle in decades. this storm will be life-threatening and extremely dangerous. this storm will bring torrential rain to the florida panhandle and big bend area which will be a major issue. >> the storm brings the threat of major rains. this part o remains under a

tornado watch. ainsley: hand it down to steve who is downstairs. steve: ainsley, thank you. switching gears. peaceful activists or political rioters. mainstream media saw it this way. >> protesters both for and against kavanaugh confirmation are making their voices heard. >> you can see a few protesters up there. an act of civil disobedience. >> there was nothing violent about these protests. >> one of the principles of our democratic process that protest is patriotism and they are showing that every single day with that courage. steve: that courage. compare that coverage to the coverage of tea party protests about 10 years ago. >> this is a party for obama bashers. and i think this is not really family viewing. >> do you think that there are racist elements in the tea party? >> you have got these guys going around acting like street thugs it isn't far from what we saw in the 30's

where all of a sudden political parties started showing up in uniform. steve: okay a little good night different. sagger from the daily caller. >> good morning. nice to see you. steve: nice to see you. folks in the last couple weeks protesting kavanaugh, patriotic, courageous, civil disobedience. when the coverage came to the tea party back in 2009 street thugs, racist elements tea party, things like that. why the double standard? >> you really could not see more of a stark difference. it really is because a lot of sympathies for these protesters are held by some of the reporters themselves. there really was an active effort to cast them in the best of light. they made sure not to cover the most extreme elements. anybody who is here in washington knew there was some really violent threats. all you had to do is spend a little bit of time on capitol hill and see how the members had to be surrounded at all times by police in order to keep them away

from. so most violent people that received only coverage from places like at the daily caller. steve: what do you make though of the imagery. some of it is violence. some of it is noisy. then you see ted cruz getting run out of a restaurant, things like that. then you have got the republicans in some cases referring to this as mob rule. is that appropriate? in some cases it is. mob did not try to drive him out of a restaurant. i watched that video. he was surrounded and separated from his wife in a d.c. restaurant. members unable to get into elevators. members unable to get into their cars without being accosted. it's a terrible time here in d.c. part of the real scandal here is that they are not receiving any real critical coverage. and in many cases they are receiving positive coverage which only emboldens them.

steve: you look at the coverage regarding president trump. the media research center did an analysis. we got it over on the big board, coverage, 92% negative so, perhaps, that does shade what the manner in which some of the mainstream networks do cover this administration and politics in general 92% isn't surprising. of the thing that got the most coverage is the russia investigation. which is something if you look at the polling that people care about the least. i'm in the white house briefing room every day. and from where i stand, there are a lot of people who are much more interested in pressing the people around them by asking about the russia investigation than in delivering the actual news that the american people care about. steve: well, and according to media research center between june and september, the russia collusion investigation on the networks got 342 minutes and then followed by immigration with 300. kavanaugh fight close to 300

ainsley: we are back with a fox news alert. hurricane michael intensifying into a powerful category 4 storm as it barrels towards the florida panhandle. hurricane hunters packing 140 mile-per-hour winds right now. more than 120,000 people have been ordered to evacuate from the storm zone. >> do not under estimate the power of this storm. anyone who has been asked to evacuate, don't wait. get out and get out now. brian: hurricane michael expected to make landfall in the next few hours. florida, if any state can handle it, florida can handle it, right? janice: i hope. so this is the strongest storm to ever impact the u.s. in history, 145 mile-per-hour sustained winds is the forecast when it makes landfall across the florida panhandle which is never withstood a hurricane of this magnitude in history. so, here's the latest coordinants. here is the latest track. we are expecting this storm to strengthen as it makes landfall across the florida

panhandle anywhere between panama city and apalachicola. 125 mile-per-hour sustained storm. move into georgia and carolinas as a tropical storm. good news it is going to be a quick mover but cause catastrophic damage. we have tornado watch in effect until 5:00 presidential for parts of florida up towards georgia. the storm surge is what is going to be potentially life-threatening with a storm surge of upwards of 12 feet to 15 feet along the big bend of florida and, of course, the tornadoes we could see dozens of reports of tornadoes. this is something they have never had happen in this part of florida. that's why we are concerned there wasn't a lot of time to prepare. people need to heed the warnings and listen to your local officials. we will keep you up to date. steve: thank you j.d. along the panhandle is the governor of the former great state of arkansas mike huckabee. fox news contributor live there in the panhandle.

i have been to your house. you give me the tour. it is beautiful. you built it up a couple years ago up to storm standards. i remember you are saying this impact is good to like 150 miles per hour. this storm is at 140 miles per hour. why are you still there? >> my wife was working at one of the shelters yesterday. we are trying to help some of our neighbors. some of them are going to come and stay with us. we may test the structure turley integrity of this home. it was built to with stand extraordinary force up to cat 5 hurricane. but, a lot of it is that we're going to be on the left side of the hurricane. we are about 25 miles from panama city west east of destin. we're going to get hit hard, but nothing like our neighbors and friends over in panama city and saint joe and apalachicola. they are going to catch the brungt of it it's going to be devastating. i think, you know, i woke up this morning during the night. it had moved from a cat 3 to a cat 4. and the one thing that i

going to effect you if you live in the area. we are going to start with griff jenkins. is he down there at alligator point in florida. griff, what's going on there? >> well, you know, we are east on the dirty side of where it's going to make landfall. and it is this big bend area that is under threat. as we have shown you the last hour, we have gotten away a little bit from this house because it's really starting to take a major, major beating because the storm surge here is coming in, expected to be 12 to 14 feet. and as our viewers will remember. a whopping majority, more than 75% of deaths in hurricane -- occur from water. it is this road in particular really starting to deteriorate. it is possibly going to lead us into catastrophic and since we have been on the air in the last hour, two, not one but two separate couples came, saw our hit and decided they are not going to stick it out. i want to come over here quickly. we don't want to impede in any way the work of the emergency officials. that's why you shouldn't stay behind.

ainsley: where is the beach. it looks like the waves right up to the house now? >> that's a great question, ainsley. so, the beach -- let me just bring you here real quick and show you if you can just look over there. you don't see a beach, right? that's not entirely because the surge so much the big bend area consists of very little beach because it is a low lying march area. and that is precisely why it is a category storm of bad conditions what you storm surge like the one we are going to get because it from all the way from apalachicola for a couple hundred miles all the way over to cedar key towards tampa that you have very little beach. there isn't a lot of distance between the typical tide and these homes. there are hundreds of thousands of homes like that one built all along here. whether you are staying behind or you may be trying to get out of these areas, you are out of time as mr. pfeifer said. these conditions make it so very dangerous. ainsley: a lot of people from mississippi and georgia

love to go down there and vacation with families. a lot of our viewers know that area very well. steve: thank you very much. janice dean tracking the storm. we saw that house behind griff on stilts. they prepare for this. a 12-foot storm surge would go right over the road. janice: even higher than that the new storm surge maps are coming out we are expecting a strengthening storm as it makes landfall. 145 mile-per-hour sustained winds. that's what's predicted in the next couple of hours. so a strength storm is not good news for the east side. for the big bend of florida. which could get, perhaps, upwards of 12 to 15-foot storm surge, that's going to inundate towns. going to put homes under water, unfortunately. here it is now as far as textbook hurricanes go this is it. all four quadrants filled out. really defined eye here. strengthening storm. tornadoes with ivan they had reports of 120 tornadoes with hurricane ivan for this area. so we're concerned about

tornadoes. weak tornadoes. still going to cause structural damage. if you don't have power, you don't have any way of knowing if there is a tornado? your neighborhood. i want to show you storm surge map. anywhere from fish creek to saint marks to apalachicola, that's 12-foot plus. some areas over 15 feet of water coming ashore and inundating and causing catastrophic life-threatening flooding and storm surge and water is the number one killer when it comes to hurricanes. and this, i mean, this is historic for them. ainsley: we saw that with florence. a lot of the damage was done a few days afterwards. janice: with the fresh water flooding. this is going to be ocean water that gets initial push from counterclockwise winds. the inland flooding comes after that. steve: that's right. that is what they refer to as the dirty side of the storm. all right. janice, thank you very much. clearly a dire situation. we will have the governor of the state of florida rick scott is going to be joining

other. she is leaving on very good terms. ainsley: some people have wondered of is she going to run for president eventually she was on the couch recently i wouldn't run against the president. i don't know what my future. steve: yesterday zero chance. brian: abby phillips cnn speculation because the way kavanaugh was confirmed and the way the administration backed him which is just farcical. i don't think there is any way. now you find out, too. that she wrote a resignation letter october 1st or 2nd. the president said can we hold on to that until after? and the fact is 10:20 eastern time. we get word of this. at 10:30 there is a presser at which time both are throwing praise at each other and saying i will be campaigning for this guy in 10:20. which brings you to who could be next? in this administration, that position really matters. and some of the speculation dina powell, of course, the president said ivanka could do it but nepotism could come in.

having been out across north dakota this last weekend and week doing my main street tour it has only enhanced the enthusiasm for our campaign. you are right i had a 12 point lead in the fox poll prior to the announcement. but i have enjoyed a pretty good lead ever since i got in the race in february. certainly the enthusiasm level has been accelerated. >> why do you think she voted against kavanaugh. especially leading her in the polls. she is the incumbent. she had a chance to gain some points there i watched her in an interview. she said she was following her heart. if she is behind, why do you think she divided to continuously say she was not going to vote for him and ultimately doing that? >> sure, ainsley, it's a very curious question. because i was map perhaps the mt surprised person in america she did vote the way she did. ainsley: i'm sure you were grateful, right? >> well, not really to be honest with you because brett kavanaugh is the perfect supreme court justice for north dakota. his opinions on everything from second amendment rights to environmental law, e.p.a. overreach, i mean, is he

right down the center of the plate for north dakota. so, you know, i would prefer to have my senator to vote for him. ainsley: sorry to interrupt you what were you going to say you? said you were shocked and surprised. >> i was shocked because she has built a entire brand being the bipartisan senator from north dakota who reaches across the aisle who always does what's right for north dakota. votes for president trump when it's important for north dakota. yet, she blew all of that up. all of her millions of dollars of branding she blew it all up in one vote. very curious to me. the only thing i could imagine is some sort of a hail mary type of play there was no real gain for her in either vote either for him or against him. so i think she is probably looking at how do you minimize losses. brian: congressman. >, did youraise eyebrows when yu brown the me too movement and gone too far. maybe generations in the past in your family were tougher. they were raised on the prayery. do you want to expand on that? >> well, sure, you know.

brian: monster storm expected to bring a potential deadly surge with up to a foot of rain. steve: 12 to see the of storm surge. governor rick scott of florida sounding the alarm for people to get out now. he joining us live from the state emergency operation center. governor, you know, the last couple of hurricanes we have seen five, six days out. this one kind of came up from surprise, didn't it? >> it came up really fast and caused some of the problems. i have been traveling pan handler and big bend area the last two days saying listen to your locals about evacuation orders. those that have chosen not to evacuate and i they are on our coast too late. i will be very dispoingtsed -- i'm disappointed if anybody didn't evacuate but especially any kids that weren't evacuated because 12 feet, think about this. 12 feet of storm surge. water is going to come up, it's going to cover your roof. do you not have a chance to survive that so i'm very

concerned. we're doing everything we can. i have called up 2500 members of the national guard. i have over 1,000 rescue individuals ready to, you know go, in as quickly as we can but i'm really concerned about the citizens that have not evacuated. ainsley: i know it's extremely dangerous. you are expecting erosion. the storm surge you talked, about national guard, i know shelters have opened. what worries you are the most in these situations? >> >> well, i think people get come play sent oh, gosh, can i with stand the wind. this is a category 4 now. 140 mile-per-hour winds with wind gusts higher than that the rain, 12 inches of rain. people can say i can withstand that flash flooding. three foot of storm surge is deadly. we are talking about 9, 10, 12, 13-foot of storm surge. i just think people don't realize the risk of this. i know there is people that have decided not to evacuate. it's too late to evacuate now on the coast. and on top of that,

anxiously, it's going to impact our cities. it's going to hit tallahassee with hurricane force winds. i hope everybody is thinking get to shelter right now. hunker down. and be careful, listen to locals. don't go out in the middle of this. you are not going to survive it. it's deadly. brian: so wha do they tell put models your greatest area of concern. what are you going to be watching for as it hits land? >> my biggest concern is, you know, it still hasn't made the move that they anticipate a little further to the east. but all that area to the east, we have got all that area really we have got the storm surge, we have got the risk of tornadoes, significant risk of tornadoes. we're going to have flash flooding and i just -- my biggest concern is the people that made the decision not to evacuate even though they were told many times this is a dangerous storm and it got more dangerous overnight and a lot of people probably went to bed thinking it was a category 3 and now it's a

accomplished but the way she accomplished that work the grace, dignity. the america first way she went about her work. remember when she raised her hand, she presided over historic back-to-back unanimous votes against i believe it was russia or north korea at the time. those were significant. with her at the table, this president has been able to splish so much on the world stage. we are all grateful and she'll be missed. brian: kellyanne, in your prior life and new life you look at polls all the time and look at trends all the time. they say, politico says 209 seats either firmly or leaning democrat in the house. only final shine of the 218. do you agree with those numbers and, if so, or if not, what do the kavanaugh hearings do for those numbers? >> a couple things. historical friends mean that the party in power loses seats in the house. this is just a president who defies trends. and rather than repeating history he tends to make

history. you can see what his strategy is between now and election day. he is leaving it all on the field, running through the tape, exactly what he and vice president pence did in 2016. same strategy. and he is bringing in huge crowds to these rallies not because it's new to them that mr. trump, president trump would come to their state or areas, but because they are there as a way to say thank you. thank you for making good on so many promises sparing an economic boom that many in the media want to continual to ignore every day but that every single moment the american people feel they have got job security but also job mobility. and so there are 43 retirements. i think the hardest thing about the house map is that there are 43 republican retirements. including in states like new jersey and california where had you long-term republican members in seats that in 23 seats, frankly that even the woman who lost that election had card ceerd carried in 2016.

side of the bridge. the water is now over that bridge. as governor scott said buildings and many homes that you see the seawall, look at this line of homes. this is on the safe side. remember, we're about five miles north of that gulf and in the house we're at. already an angry bay just absolutely bringing the first of what is going to be several feet. 14, 15 feet of some surge. this is the thing, guys, this is what forecasters and others said, the warm water, if i touch this water and i feel it, it is barely over 80 degrees, almost bath water. that is what brought this unprecedented storm. you can't see too much in the distance. it is alligator point. that entire area of homes there, if you do not get out there --

stomach actually. i know we have a bring pictures to you to show you how bad the storm is going to be, when i see griff there, a storm surge going to be over top of him, he needs to move. hurricane, category 4. 145 mile-an-hour sustained winds. this area has never seen something like this before. we'll see upwards of 14 to 15 feet of storm surge. that is going to put people under water. people will die if they have not moved away from the coast. so it is going to make landfall this afternoon between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. category 4. this is a strong category 4. because areas are low-lying across the area, we have catastrophic life-threatening storm surge that will inundate this area. that is why reporters need to move. here is the tornado threat. we see potential of dozens of

without incident. there was hope on the left, certain justice, more left-leaning justices might shun kavanaugh or isolate him out on an island. that is not the case t was collegial, it was typical. he is now a fully fledged, legitimate member of the court despite the best efforts of agitators on the left, the senate democrats and endorsement of incivility we saw from hillary clinton which was typical of her, putting her finger in the wind of her party but also disgraceful at the same time. ainsley: we know they don't all agree. they have manners. they learn to be civil with each other, respect each other even with opposing views. what can we all learn as a country by watching them and their example? >> that has been a long tradition on the supreme court where some of the most divisive issues that our society faces and they have to get together, just nine of them in a room, and decide how they are going to shake out. there are bitter disappointments

and bitter disagreements from time to time. yet, there are a lot of cross idealogical friendships on the supreme court. ruth bader ginsberg and justice scalia, famously close friend and adored each other, even though they were polar opposite ends idealogically on the court. when she passed away, she was gravely sad and disappointed at his passing. that is good reminder, even when you work in close quarters on most highly charged issues of the day, personality, people, character matters more. steve: sure. the president last night was trying to remind people of the kavanaugh fight and feels that he will galvanize his base. there is headline in the "daily beast," kavanaugh killed the never trump movement. this is no surprise to you, you were a never-trumper back in the day, way back machine days, but i had said, essentially that the kavanaugh fight has united the

party behind the president? >> it is certainly united the party. it is not just the president. you look at mitch mcconnell whose numbers were not very good among republicans. they have increased dramatically. this was a high-stakes fight. the entire center-right coalition, looked what democrats on the committee were doing and chuck schumer were outraged at their complete lack of respect for justice kavanaugh. now no sense of fairness whatsoever. he called it seek and destroy, search and destroy. that was exactly what it is. their conduct was extremely unbecoming. just throwing away a bedrock mile-per-hour values like the presumption of innocence. i think a lot of us, whether we are hardcore trumpers or trump skeptical conservatives we saw what the democrats were up to and said, no, no, this is a fight we're all on the same side here. we're engaged. ainsley: we'll see what happens in a few weeks. thanks so much, guy. >> sure thing.

the president should pick and i think the president should pick with somebody who agrees with the president's vision. iraq war was a mistake. there is no military solution in afghanistan. i really want somebody to come forward that the president will pick that agrees with the president's vision for foreign policy. steve: who is that? >> that is a good question but i think that many of the people surrounding him give him the advice we must stay forever in afghanistan. they're now saying must stay forever in syria. we must stay forever in africa and must stay forever in yemen. we need a strong national defense, need to balance our budget but don't need to be in everybody's civil war. the president agrees with me. brian: if we leave iraq in comes isis. if we leave afghanistan and out comes al qaeda, buildings start falling here you have to be responsible. >> the other half of that, we went into afghanistan. toppled the regime. went into iraq and toppled regime there and guess what it

the governor just said that he has spoken to the president and the president has promised as much help as they need down there. brian: state of emergency in alabama, in georgia and of course florida. ainsley: that's where we find jonathan serrie. he is live at panama city beach. good morning. reporter: good morning to you. i'm in bay county and the local officials have said that the winds, life-threatening winds have started to pick up in bay county. so they're telling people in evacuation zones, if you haven't already left you need to shelter in place. in addition to the heavy winds they're worried about this, storm surge. even at our location we're noticing the water coming right up to the steps, just about five feet below where i'm standing right now n other portions of the panhandle, storm surge could be high as 13 to 15 feet. most residents in low-lying areas are heeding the warnings and leaving but as you see with any hurricane, there are always going to be a few holdouts.
