"fox & friends first" continues right now. rob: you are watching "fox & friends first" on this thursday morning. i'm rob schmitt. jillian: i'm jillian mele. hurricane michael just downgraded to a tropical storm overnight after leaving a trail of catastrophic damage up and down the florida coast. rob: it is quite a scene. homes destroyed, power lines toppled, trees ripped from the ground, hundreds of thousands of people are now without power as many are returning home to utter devastation. jillian: some of the images are unreal to look at. we have live team coverage from some of the hardest hit areas, starting with jonathan seare live in panama city beach. jonathan. >> reporter: good morning, jillian and rob. the only lights you'll see are those connected to the generator of our satellite truck. you can see some of the typical damage that we're seeing up and down the panhandle, utility

i think some people would argue, well, they don't say these things literally. the other half argues yeah, but papeople hear it literally becae you're seeing it all over the streets it seems like. >> this kind of violence inciting rhetoric and hatred is the new norm on the left. and eric holder's comments, they're not an outlier. they're just a symptom of a much wider illness of liberal intolerance. there's a growing pattern of intimidation and mob scenes aimed at republican officials. some people can't even go to a restaurant and eat peacefully without being shouted down by angry mobs. officials and their families are receiving death threats. it's not just republican politicians who are on the receiving end of this deplorable behavior. my brother's car was vandalized a couple weeks ago because of a trump bumper sticker. we have leaders like eric

that. and all of this really underlines the fact that barack obama's calls for civility, hillary clinton's calls for unity don't really seem like they were genuine. the left use these sound bites as a political tool to attack conservatives when it's politically convenient. we all know that left wing intolerance has been on the rise since the day of trump's inauguration when police indicted over 200 rioters. it's gotten worse since then. the left watched the base transform into a bunch of angry, violent fools who have no message. they block traffic. they vandalize buildings and harass conservatives. we need to come together across party lines, say enough is enough, no violence on either side is acceptable. rob: the stakes are high right now. jeff flake put it perfectly. he said this whole idea of winning at any cost is too high of a cost. you can't just say anything to try to win an election. kristin tate, thank you so much for your time. we have cory gardner on fox and friends at 8:20 this morning.
