he has an extensive criminal history. at least 12 arrests for things like felony theft, selling steroids, even making a bomb threat at one point. investigators are revealing that two clues led to his capture after a four-day nationwide manhunt. one was a fingerprint sayoc left on one of the manila envelopes. the other his d.n.a. was found on two of the explosive devices. back to you guys. ed: steve harrigan reporting live in miami. we will get back to you as news warrants throughout the morning. we appreciate you joining us. remarkable news throughout the morning, the terror people felt. we have to take our hats off who worked so quickly one four or five days they tracked this down. maybe some sort of d.n.a. evidence, fingerprints on some of these packages. but, immediately some on the left, rather than focusing on the fbi, the great work of the men and women in the fbi who try and protect us every single day, immediately go to the politics. immediately go to this is president trump's fault.

ounce of violence. rachel: the point is what the media wants to do is muzzle him, muzzle his supporters tie him to this. and scare them about speaking out. ed: the president is certainly speaking out on a whole ranges of issues. he has reframed these midterms in recent weeks around not just the economy and the tax cuts but largely trying to crack down on illegal immigration. jumping on the fact that we have had this caravan moving towards the united states, starting in central america. marching basically through mexico. we have been talking about it for days now. the president making clear that enough is enough. and that he wants to crack down here. and thomas homan, the former acting ice director was on last hour saying he can't believe some of the things he is hearing that comes out of democrats' mouths, watch. >> until we fix these loom holes in the immigration system. they are going to keep coming. thank god we have a president that takes border security and law enforcement seriously. and he is going to do everything he can to secure thisward. the people that failed immigration is the democrats.

when they support abolishing ice. when people like nancy pelosi support sanctuary cities to give illegal aliens safe harbor. when they don't build a wall they have failed immigration and defending this country and protecting america. pete: we have been at a trump rally talking to folks. they are motivated by caravan issue. kavanaugh and caravan. it's not because they hate the people trying to come to the united states. rachel: no. pete: this caravan is a symptom of a larger problem that we still have lawlessness on our borders. congress has not addressed it the wall hasn't been built yet. you still have catch and release. one they step into the country they receive asylum and they may never -- they claim asylum. they may never get a hearing. these caravans are an opportunity to address a problem that still hasn't been solved. rachel: absolutely. one of the interesting things and i was interviewing people at the rally. the ones immigrants themselves, legal immigrants were the ones that were most angry about this. ed: so true. rachel: i can speak about this personally my mom is a legal immigrant. people who do it the right way really resent that there

are these loopholes and people are able to take advantage of the system and come in illegally. i was up in wisconsin very far from the border. it was such a top issue in for people. front of mind. people are very angry about this. the visuals are terrible for the left. if you watch, you notice democrats aren't talking a whole lot about this. i think they know. pete: they don't have an answer for it. rachel: people keep using the word invasion. it does look like that coming -- like it's coming towards us. ed: to your point we had more fired up than anyone, waited years in line and they're frustrated at what they are seeing at the border. pete: they also underscore the national security implications of a porous border. ed: for that national security reason that's wire kirstjen nielsen had exclusive interview with martha maccallum on thursday. friday she was along the u.s. mexico border in california. where one section of the wall has been worked on.

pete: all posh midterm election 10 days away and all eyes are on races in the house and the senate. what happens if the so-called blue wave actually happens? democrats could control both chambers and committees looks far more likely in the house than in the senate. here to break it down former campaign polster and ceo chris wilson. thank you for joining us this morning. setting aside the senate, which is unlikely that democrats take, focusing on the house this morning looks more like a toss-up, these chairmanships become very important. house judiciary committee. the current chair is bob goodlatte but likely if dems take the house it would turn

griff? griff: this is the scene here as we look at literally the entire migrant caravan, thousands stopped on the road heading north to the state, local government putting up a road block before the sun came out. not letting them. in they are negotiating up there to be let through. you can see yesterday we saw groups very sporadic all over the place. today the migrants made the choice amongst themselves to stay together to be stronger as one group as we see them on the road. it's not just in front of me. it's also behind me, literally thousands of migrants from honduras, guatemala, el salvador and elsewhere trying to make their way north and also from the mexican president to stop and give up. they would be given temporary citizenship, some healthcare, some education here. the offer being mostly rejected. some stepping away. but the bulk, obviously, as you see, trying to move forward to the united states. pete: griff right in the middle of it in mexico

they are tired of the partisanship that's gone on. new jersey has been the center of that partisanship. senator menendez one of the partisan democrats in the senate. georgetown university just routerred on that he is the most if not the most partisan senator. new jersey wants somebody who is independent and put them first. if you are last and get the least back, it's time for elm the people to stand up for the people of new jersey. ed: i hear you. democratic state they haven't minded he and lautenberg and others. tax cuts, cracking down on illegal immigration. what matters most to people right now. >> so unaffordable. new jersey has become so expensive. tax hike again this year. 1.7 billion more spending, property taxes are the highest in the country. it's just hard for families to stay together. ed: taxes went up because the republican president, donald trump said you can't write off as much on the state and local taxes. that hurt your state. don't you have to admit that as a republican? >> listen, i was opposed to that $1,000 cap on state.

ed: the president didn't help your state. >> senator menendez on the finance committee bipartisan maybe he could have done something to raise that cap. and we raised taxes in the state. but property taxes are unbelievable. senior citizens are leaving our state in accelerating rate. new jersey has the fastest migration of 13 to 14-year-olds. affordability is the number one issue. washington and trenton have to be focused on stop putting people ahead of party an --start putting peoplen front of party and politics. ed: rachel was at a rally and immigration was front and center. are people in new jersey talking about the wall. >> it's an infrastructure. is a more important issue. we have got to make sure new jersians feel comfort there will be are jobs out there for them in the long term. education, infrastructure, environment is important in

threats of using specifically bombs to kill people long pre- date president trump's career in politics. that much is true. i have to say though, for me personally, i want to apologize for speculating prior to his capture, that the evidence that was so obvious and overwhelming that he was a fan of president trump was ignored by me and by others as we conjured up theories that this was a false flag operation and it was so obvious the evidence that it could not be true. the bombs were fake, we said, i said. as it turns out i think the explosive devices would not function. i don't think that they were made to really kill or mame rather than to frighten. still, i think that i should have just kept my mouth shut along with everybody else and let the investigators do their job, but it is clear and it must be restated time and time again that this man was an

abhorent violent, radicalized long before donald trump said anything at any rally, and i also think it is incumbent on me and others to say let's use this as a learning experience to lower the tone. you're right, everything you've said about the president, getting the worst press of any president in history. everything he does is construed in the most evil way possible. i think and on the other hand, i think too much of the cnn sucks kind of receipt rhetoric is unnecessary and unhelpful. this is a learning moment for both sides and i know it's very difficult and you pointed it out with the 10-11 days to go until the most bitterly-contested mid-term election ever. i don't expect polyanna-ish, that everybody will say okay let's be friends and vote on who got the "a" in debate as we go

release, if you talk about real amnesty and talk about criminals and threats to national security you're heartless. is it not, what about those american citizens that you alluded to who play by the rules and now see other people coming in through the back door? >> well if you listen to president obama's comments he talks about why are we concerned about that issue, why aren't we concerned about things like people getting jobs or being able to retire? and it's very ironic coming from the president that put more money and more debt on the backs o of future generations than all presidents before him combined. likewise, sent more troops overseas than president bush, and so when your policies don't match your rhetoric and you can't run for office any more i guess you can really say whatever you want but it doesn't really amount to much and the american people see that that's why the polls are trending in the direction they are. what politician especially republicans do wrong, even president trump is we don't, we allow politicians as americans to tell us why the immigration issue matters, and when we do that they can interject things that aren't necessarily apart of it. you can care about border

rhetoric of the left and of their media no longer matters. we are engaged and excited and we are behind this president. rachel: candace, i was watching as well the video from outside of after the summit, there were all these young black conservatives and they had this bull horn and they were giving testimony of why they walked away from the democrat party and there was such a sense of freedom to speak their mind in what they feel. tell us about that as well because i thought that was really fascinating. >> rachel the perfect word that you just said here is liberation i can express to you how liberated we all feel. it's like once you feel like you've just released yourself from slavery it's exactly the sentiment that we felt. we feel like we've been mentally enslaved by the democratic party and there were students there that had never been on a plane. there were people there that currently live in group homes that had to borrow suits from goodwill and they came out to support the president and they got invited from the white house and they couldn't believe it. it was a beautiful moment in

american history. ed: wow it does sound remarkable rachel: i've got chills. ed: as interesting and exciting as that was we also have another exciting moment coming up in just 10 days the mid-term elections as you know the president has been making his closing case saying this is about kavanaugh and the caravan. the previous president, whose been sort of on the sidelines, has all of a sudden returned and i bet you have something to say about him but let's listen to him first. here is how he is framing the final case for democrats, watch. >> throughout human history, certainly throughout american history, politicians have exaggerated. they make promises that they may try to fulfill but then it turns out to be harder than they expected. we have not seen before in our recent public life at least, if politicians just blatantly repeatedly baldly shame leslie lying.

there's pride in being an american and there's actually no sound bite he can deliver that's going to stop the support for president donald trump. rachel: you said they're scared. i mean, do you really believe that the democrats are scared? is this a watershed moment that we're seeing right now and why is this moment so different? >> this moment is different because for the first time americans didn't even know that they were losing so badly until trump started delivering major wins, and it feels like we're coming together. that moment, that black americans in the room, shouting "lock her up" saying"build the wallet we're finally getting on the same page understanding that the agenda is america first. it's a wonderful agenda. honestly, trump has inspired all of us so much to fight for this country. pete: you've tapped into something free thinking for individuals who don't want to be taken for granted any longer candace owens turning point usa communications director congratulations on all you've done i'm sure more to come. rachel: thank you, candace.

president trump: the democrats want to invite caravan aftercare a van of illegal aliens into our country. they want to sign them up for free healthcare, free welfare, free education, and for the right to vote. people just walk across-the-boarder because our democrat laws are no good. pete: that was president trump yesterday, taking aim at democrats over their policies on the migrant caravan and

immigration generally. our next guest says democrats are just playing politics with the thousands of migrants march ing to our border joining us now editor of spiked online, brendan o'neill. thanks for being here. hi. pete: so your premise is that the caravan is being used as a political weapon by the left why >> i think it's being politicized and turned into a weapon against the idea of borders themselves and i think it's unfortunate that we've reached a situation where troops are having to go down to the border but i think that is unfortunately a consequence of the transformation of this caravan not simply in two people seeking asylum but into a political confrontation. i think that's been done by some democrats and being done by others on the left and i think it's being done by elements in the caravan itself one of the groups is called people without borders which is a very telling name, and i think it speaks to one of the great clashes of our time which is between people who believe in borders and believe in the nation state and others on the globalist side of politic s who don't and i think

that's what's in this controversy. pete: if you're a globalist or left wing democrat in america today what is your border policy >> well that's a good question. i think increasingly it looks like they want to raise borders or at least weaken them or dilute them so much that they become meaningless and there is a real problem with that because if you don't have borders you can't have a nation state. pete: so their caravan policy would be come on in. >> it looks like it would be come on in but the problem i have with that primarily is that it looks like it would be come on in in order to score political points against trump. if it was come on in because you people really need asylum and it could be proven that they really needed asylum that might be a very good thing for the united states to do but what's happening here is that people have been encouraged to move closer and closer to the border in order to score points against trump, in order to weaken the idea of national sovereignty, and in order to make a statement about borders in the 21st century so they are being used as a political weapon that's very cynical. pete: and having i believe you're from the uk correct?

>> uh-huh. pete: are we just a few years behind things the sort of borderless eutopia that europe wanted? >> we had a similar situation in europe over the past few years where a huge vast numbers of migrants were invited in particularly by angela merkel the leader of germany and that was done for virtual-signaling purposes to show she's a good caring leader and the consequences have been pretty dire. there are now cultural tensions across europe. a lot of people feel an tag on ized by these developments. i think i'm generally in favor of immigration. i'm the son of immigrants. my parents migrated from ireland to britain. i know immigration can be a beneficial thing, but it has to be done in a reasoned, democratic way. i think what the left does too often is tries to override democracy and encourage free movement. pete: and does assimilation and allegiance to the country you're going to ultimately matter as well? >> matters very much and i think one of the problems we

have in europe is that we invite huge numbers of people but we refuse to encourage them to assimilate and in fact assimilation is now seen as a bad word a form of racism in essence so we have these huge numbers of people who are on the outskirts of society who don't share our values, often don't work, and that creates a huge amount of tension so i think that the u.s. needs to look at europe and realize that if you want immigration it needs to be done in a fair, reasoned way rather than in this rash politicized way. pete: brendan o'neill editor of spiked online thank you very much for your time. >> thank you. pete: all right, rachel? i believe it's national beer day is that true? rachel: or pete day.
