4:08 pm
colson. jackie just talked about the fact that the synagogues are being secured around the country. is the possibility of a copycat attack first in the mind of fbi agents? >> absolutely. if you look at these types of situations, they tend to generate other situations. when you have a group of inadequate people trying to make a name for themselves. jewish people and israelis are always at the forefront of their minds. they should practice it and rehearse it, and armed security is not out of the question. i strongly recommend they protect themselves at all costs. jon: the president said that, he suggested an armed security
4:09 pm
guard could have stopped that before it got too bad. he's taking heat for that, but it sounds like you agree. >> certainly i agree. these guys are cowards. he came in and engaged people who were unarmed and worshiping peacefully inside. when the place came he ran and hid inside. he's going to run away. he had a better chance fighting and begging or hiding. i agree with the president armed security is the way to go. hire off-duty security officers, or have your own security team. >> my church has that and i feel comfortable with that. jon: in israel almost every place has an armed security guard from a pizza place to
4:10 pm
everything else. >> if you go to a movie theater over the weekend there will be is likely an armed guard there. it doesn't necessarily designate it's dangerous place, they are just there to protect you. when i go i take my grandchildren and they thank the police officer. i would rather have an armed guard than be at the mercy of some cowardly murderer. jon: the police did a spectacular job of taking this guy down. >> they were wounded and kept going after this guy. my son is a police officer and he's been involved in some of these types of things. we have great officers in this country. the best in the world. these guys are heroes, we should pat them on the back and thank them every time we see them.
4:11 pm
jon: you were on the hostage rescue team. you know a lot about how these guys think. the fact that he was captured alive and he'll be seen as the pathetic person he really is. does that help prevent future acts like this? >> i don't think so. i think the evil in the mind of the shooters, i don't think it makes one bit of difference. what we see here is that these officers engaged him when he was no longer a threat they didn't kill him. but they were professional, they did their job as law enforcement officers. we are not at war technically. these guys perform heroically and bravely and within the framework of our constitution. there is not much more you can say than that. jon: they did a spectacular job.
