an assault rifle and handguns. i'm jon scott, thanks for watching. [♪] judge jeanine: horror in pittsburgh in the synagogue as a maniac fueled by hate opens fire open worshipers. welcome to a special two-hour edition of "justice." i'm jeanine pirro. we are going to talk politics later. but first the latest on what's been a tragic day in america. 11 people are dead and self more including four police officers are injured after a gunman walked into the tree of life synagogue in pittsburgh and opened fire. the horrific act taking place during a baby naming ceremony. officials confirmed the victims were apparently targeted for one reason, their faith.
9:01 pm
here is what we know about the shooting suspect. he is 4 -- he is 46-year-old robert bowers. a man who reportedly made anti-semitic comments on line but was not known to police. he was injured in the shootings and is in custody and expected to survive. the president did go on with a planned political rally earlier this evening in illinois. here is some of what he said. president trump: before going any further i want to address the horrible shooting that took place earlier today. the hearts of americans are filled with grief following the monstrous killing of parishioners at the tree of life
9:02 pm
synagogue. the suspect is in custody. the federal authorities are on the scene and leading an aggressive federal investigation. state and local law enforcement has been incredible. this evil anti-semitic attack is own assault on all of us. it's an assault on humanity. it will require all of us working together to extract the hateful poison of anti-accept jf anti-semitism from our world. the scourge of anti-semitism cannot be ignored, cannot be tool rated, and we can -- cannot be tolerated.
9:03 pm
and it cannot be allowed to continue. it rears its ugly head and was be confronted everywhere. we must join our jewish brothers and sisters and vanquish the hate. through the centuries, the jews have endured persecution. we all studied it and know it. those seeking destruction, we'll seek their destruction. [cheers and applause] when you have crimes like this, whether it's this one or another one or another group, we have to bring back the death penalty. they have to pay the ultimate price. they have to pay the ultimate price. they can't do this.
9:04 pm
they can't do this to our country. we must draw a line in the sand and say very strongly never again. judge jeanine: let's get the latest on the shooting from fox news reporter garrett tenney live in pittsburgh. >> several seasons law enforcement officials described this scene as the most of horrific they have ever seen. several dozen people were inside the read of life synagogue for shabbat services. and several were there for a child naming blessing ceremony. just after the services had begun, a man walked in with an assault rifle and three handguns and yelled, all jews must die.
9:05 pm
within a couple minutes 11 people were killed and he wounded 60 d -- wounded six oth. by the end he had shot two more officers. pennsylvania's government says word cannot express how this state feels tonight. >> my heart breaks for the members of the jewish community. all of pennsylvania mourns with you. anti-semitism has no place in our commonwealth. an attack on one community of faith in pennsylvania is an attack on every community of faith in pennsylvania. reporter: the fbi identified 46-year-old robert bowers as the
9:06 pm
suspect. this not a lot they know about him at this point. they were trying to gather up his background. what led him to commit this attack. he was believed at this point to have been not on law enforcement radar prior to today's shooting. but they are searching several of his residences including an apartment. and some neighbors of that apartment told local reporters that he was quite and kept to himself. but they said they didn't see any red flags. that's a common theme behear in situations like this. the fbi said they plan for this to be a full, wide investigation. they are digging into his social media presence. they are investigating the possibility he may have announced his intentions to carry out this shooting on social media. the social media site gab said
9:07 pm
it verified and suspend an account that waslinged with his name. the account made several anti-semitic posts, including one just before the shooting this morning which concluded with quote i'm going in. we are just going in that the u.s. attorney for the western district of pennsylvania filed charges against that suspect in the last few minutes. attorney general jeff sessions said federal charges would include hate crime charges and the possibility of the death penalty. judge jeanine: joining me on the phone, the executive vice president of the trump organization and the president's son, eric trump. your reaction to the horror that happened today in a place of work shi --a flaistles worship e of worship.
9:08 pm
>> he should get the death penalty. there is no question about it. there are 11 people who are no longer on this earth because of his actions. you know we give a major shout-out to law enforcement because the job they did today was incredible. judge jeanine: i'll talk about that more with some of my law enforcement guests. as we look at the news in the past week, is it a sign of the times, someone arrested for sending pipe bombs to several people and then today this individual shooting up in a place of worship and six more injured. is this a sign of the rhetoric and outrage people are hearing? is there any correlation between the two? >> there might be and might not be. at the end of the day, this is a
9:09 pm
sick were deranged human. a sick, deranged person to do this. we have gotten to a point in life and society where everything has to be politicized. somebody has to point a political finger at everything. at the end of the day this guy is a sick sick sick person. he went to a place of worship and shot it up. there are 11 people who are dead because of it. we should try to pull politics out of it. he doesn't represent the left. he doesn't represent the right. the person was sick, deranged. i hope if found guilty that he gets the death penalty. judge jeanine: a good point of not viewing everything through political lenses. your dad indicated he thought about canceling the rally.
9:10 pm
but he said something interesting. he said we don't want to let those crazies control what we do. and it kind of reminds me, eric, you were in new york city in 2001, 9/11, and we said we won't let these crazy people stop us from conduct our normal everyday affairs. do you think your dad should have gone through with that rally? >> i do. i think he said it beautifully. he said you can't let evil change your life. every time evil lashed out, it changed our lives and society. it's always instances like this, whether it be the 9/11 or tragic shootings like we lad today that brings america together. clearly the person is trying to tear our country apart.
9:11 pm
and trying to do massive evil. sometimes it does the opposite. once you get past the horrible act, it brings people together. you have an entire country mourning for a small town in pennsylvania and for a group of people whose lives were upended. this does bring america together at a time when you can say america can be fractured because of so many different variables. judge jeanine: the sad part is, it's always sad. but the selection of a particular group based upon their religion in a place of worship on shabbat, it is a particularly heinous act. but let's talk about what's going to happen in the next 8 or
9:12 pm
9 days. let's turn to what's important, the course of the country continuing on the course it's on and focus on real politics as opposed to the rhetoric. you hope they focus on the real issues as opposed to rhetoric. it's horrible what happened. you look at the hurricane that hit the panhandle of florida so hard. those are unthinkable things. the other rhetoric in the media, america is winning right now. we are wing, you are economy is winning, our military is winning, our veterans are winning. we have the fastest growing gdps in the history of the country. we have the lowest unemployment,
9:13 pm
manufacturing coming back to the country. stock markets are at record highs. 401ks are at record highs. prescription drug prices are coming down. i could talk about it for hours. but our country is thriving. we are no longer getting ripped off by china and mexico. we are the envy of the world right now. it's hard to say on a day like today when something so tragic happens. but our economy is doing great and our country is doing great. we are the number of one economy on earth. you hope a lot of the rhetoric gets put aside and people focus on the positive attributes and the great things happening in our country right now. judge jeanine: when you talk about it, it's as though there isn't one metric that hasn't improved under your father. but the left is so dug in.
9:14 pm
when you see congress women and congressmen, you wonder how you can get people to take their sights off that anger and turn it to something positive. >> when you are doing the best, people are the most of angry. i have seen it personally. you see a lot of the left lashing out. they don't have a great message right now. they want to double people's taxes and attack law enforcement. they are the greatest men and women we have in this country. the country is doing amazingly well. if you can put aside the rhetoric and look at quantitiesifiable statistics, fawntifquantifiable measures. days like today make us rally like that. we all bleetd same red, white
9:15 pm
and blue. we love this country, we love our nation, and we want our nation to be successful. everybody should cool it down a little bit. judge jeanine: let's talk more about the suspect and where this investigation could go. joining me now is the former member of the fbi joint task force, retired police officer each rogers. tell me something i don't already know about this guy. not only does he have an active license to carry a firearm. but in addition, he's a trump hater. he rallied against the jews. he had a blog. he posted hias which is the hebrew immigration aid society. he says they like to bring in
9:16 pm
invaders and i can't sit by and watch people being slaughtered. i'm going in. >> how were the police so effective on this incident and the one in new york. the president mobilized federal law enforcement office. the president sent them down and they quickly closed the case in new york, and you will get all the answers to those questions in p.a. did we not forget it was the prior administration that took the tactical equipment police needed today to nail that guy in p.a. judge jeanine: isn't that interesting. i remember this under the obama administration they were taking this stuff away, this tactical equipment. >> president trump gave it back. judge jeanine: obviously that is great. this was an incredible amount of time in terms how they got in there and this coward went back in. now we have four police officers
9:17 pm
injured, i believe. >> yes. judge jeanine: we know he had a license to carry a firearm, correct? >> yes. judge jeanine: do we know anything more about it? how did he get it? >> these are the questions that will be asked it's a long investigation. but they will try to find out where the weapons came from. they will do forensic studies on all of his computer equipment, cell phones, et cetera. but what's important is the psychological profile the criminal psychologists will make on this guy after they speak to him. judge jeanine: talk to me like you are talking to the d.a. i don't care what his motive is. though the jury may want to know it. the proof is did he commit the crime or did he not. is he sane or insane. did he have a job? did he function normally? >> nothing like that, judge.
9:18 pm
but did he do it? of course he did it. >> the only justification or excuse that he ca can profer -- >> he's responsible for his actions. what about the hollywood movies and violence and all these things around us that promote violence. he's responsible for his actions, no one else. judge jeanine: the statement he posted today's shows premeditation, focused, clear, lucid, i'm going in. he knows exactly where he is. >> get that before a jury and the judge says guilty.
9:19 pm
judge jeanine: steve rogers, thanks for being with us tonight. in our live coverage of this breaking story in pittsburgh continues, a special two-hour edition of "justice" continues with ronna mcdonealls, corey lewandowski, and ted williams and more back in a moment. hey guys. today we're here to talk about trucks. i love trucks. what the heck is that?! whoa! what truck brand comes from the family of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road? i think it's the chevy. ford. is it ford? nope, it's not ford. i think it's ram. is it ram? not ram. that's a chevy! it's chevy! that's right. from the family of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road. gorgeous. chevy hit it out of the ballpark with these. you need insurance. but it's not really something you want to buy.
9:20 pm
it's not sexy. or delicious. or fun. but since you need both car and home insurance, why not bundle them with esurance and save up to 10%? which you can spend on things you really want to buy, like... well, i don't know what you'd wanna buy because i'm just a guy on your tv. esurance. it's surprisingly painless.
9:23 pm
judge jeanine: breaking tonight. 11 people inside pittsburgh synagogue are dead. the gunman is in custody. joining me, form washington, d.c. detective and defense attorney, ted williams. tell me something i don't know. >> i heard you in the last session with steve rogers talking about the insanity defense. let me make sure we are clear here. this guy stars i'm concerned was not insane what over. when you think about it. he not only says at some stage on his social media site, i'm going in.
9:24 pm
when you look at the premeditation, deliberation, all of the things that are necessary for first degree, they are there. not only do you go in, he shoots up the place, and he's sane enough to try to get out of there and run away from the police. guess what, he runs back in. and this so-called insane man then goes up to the third floor and this insane floor slight out with the police. this man was not insane. and if i was a lawyer prosecuting this case i would love to have it. judge jeanine: if you were defending this case? >> i what try to talk to people who knew him and what his motivation was to try to mitigate and everything. but i have got to tell you something else. this guy was not a fan of the president. if you notice, at times there is
9:25 pm
a segment of society that want to blame everything that happens in america on the president. you can't do that. if you go to this guys social media site he says trump is a globalist, not a nationalist. there is no make america great again. this is coming from robert bower's site, judge. judge jeanine: you are right about that. everybody assumes he's a right winger base ended up killing in a synagogue. this guy didn't vote for donald trump. he didn't like donald trump. and he's not insane. he's focused, he's clear, and he's plain evil. i agree with the president. there is only one appropriate sentence in a case like this. >> don't say it. let me say the. the death penalty. they need to nail his butt and
9:26 pm
put him in an electric chair. you walk into a house of worship and you take 11 lives. these are vulnerable decent people who are not going home to their families tonight. judge jeanine: this is a hate crime. they don't just affect the individual who has been victimized. it's not only the individual taken out in a box to a morgue. it's the whole community who suffers from the fear that because they are part of that community that they will be the next victim. the ripple effect is huge. >> it goes throughout the country, judge. in new york where you are, law enforcement officers are putting additional protections on synagogues. judge jeanine: as they should. there were so many people against additional punishments
9:27 pm
for hate crimes. every state in the union has hate crime penalties that are more serious because they recognize the seriousness and how expansive these crimes are, how they go beyond the individual victim. but what pains me is there are still people who focus on hate. this guy hates jews. a couple days ago one guy goes in and shoots a couple of african-americans, and a white guy takes out a gun and shoots him, he says don't worry about it, i'm not going to shoot you, you are white. this kind of hate is horrible. i don't understand other than they are ignorant and arrogant and don't deserve to breathe the same air you and i breathe. >> they don't deserve to breathe the same air. i am taking my hat off to the justice department that they are looking to prosecute this buy
9:28 pm
bowers under hate crime. because under that statute he could be look at being put to death. judge jeanine: much more on tonight's breaking news ahead. but we'll talk about the march to the mid terms. we are just over a week away. ronna mcdaniels joins me next. with 2x more geographic detail... ...ancestrydna can pinpoint where your ancestors are from... ...and the paths they took, to a new home. could their journey inspire yours? order your kit at ancestrydna.com.

bowers. shot and injured but in police custody. first here to weigh in on tonight' breaking news and more as we head into the final stretch before the mid-term elections, rnc chairwoman, ronna mcdone as. your red ronna mcdaniels. let's start with the shooting in the synagogue. >> my heart goes out to those families and the whole jewish community that has been affected by this violent, evil, murderous hate act. i am proud of the justice department for saying they will prosecute under the hate crimes statute. all of america is grieving for this pittsburgh community and the jewish community that's been
9:34 pm
so impacted by the events today. judge jeanine: the man arrested for sending pipe bombs to several people in office and those who are literally trump haters. do you think the rhetoric of today is impacting the way people are conducting themselves? >> these people are deranges and evil who are committing these acts. as eric saide said -- said earl. it's about who these individual are. they are deranged and evil. the president has taken the lead saying we need to unite as a country against these hateful acts. i was with him in the rally at north carolina. he said let's focus on the policies we are putting forward and not on ways we can divide
9:35 pm
each other. i think that's the right stance. i hope democrats will come to the table. i know democrats and republicans are coming together to mourn what happened in pittsburgh. this is something that brings americans together as we grieve for those who are suffering. judge jeanine: that is the hope. we are all americans. and this can't divide us. if there is a silver lining, maybe they can bring us together. mid-terms, 9 days away. how do you get the country to focus on the issues as opposed to number one the rhetoric or how do you get people to get out of their homes when you and i both know 10 days ago because of kavanaugh and all other stuff that has been happening, and the caravan, people couldn't wait to get to the voting booth. but now i'm not so sure if
9:36 pm
things haven't been tamped down with all this violence. >> that's why the rnc put together the largest field program in history. we have had 60 million rotor contact thus far. we raised $269 million. and all of that is so we can make that final argument to voters in the closing days as to why we need to choose republicans and retain the majority. and it's result versus resistance. we are delivering more jobs, strengthening our military, holding up law enforcement for the heroes they are. take on the opioid crisis and the pharmaceuticals. the democrats are doubling down on resist and obstruct. we are urging everybody to make sure you talk to your family and friends. the on way we keep this comeback alive for this country is if you
9:37 pm
vote. judge jeanine: what is the most of important message you think you can give to people? eric trump talked about every metric is improved under his father's leadership. who to you think is more motivated now? it depend on the minute at this point. who is more motivated. the republicans or democrats. >> the democrats are motivated. opposition is motivating. they are mad that they didn't get the white house in 2016. but the republicans are motivated, too. we have seen a rise in our field program. what he did last night in north carolina. he'll be making that last-minute push and say to voters are you better off than you were two years ago, is our country safer
9:38 pm
and stronger? are we making america great again. on every metric voters will say yes. it is a very clear contrast between the messages being delivered to voters. republicans along with president trump are making that final push to make sure voters get out and vote. majorities are at stake and our country's trajectory which is on the rise is at stake. go to votegop.com. the president will be on the road at an unprecedented pace. if we keep the majorities in the senate and the house, it looks like we'll expand our majority in the senate. he has ignited our base by
9:39 pm
getting out and doing these rallies in important state after important state where his presence shows -- we have seen it in the metrics. increases the energy and increases the voter turnout. he's going to be out there. i don't know how he does it. i'm exhausted already. i don't know how he does it. but he cares so much about our country. and he knows what's at stake and he'll do everything he can to keep the majorities. judge jeanine: thank you so much for being with us. more on the breaking news out of pittsburgh we'll take you to a vigil for the
9:40 pm
9:41 pm
9:42 pm
9:44 pm
judge jeanine: a vigil for the victims of a mass shooting in a pittsburgh synagogue. reporter: we are a few blocks from that synagogue where 11 people were murdered just a mum of hours ago. it's raw and emotional. all the people we talked to at tonight's vigil said they still don't know the names of the people murdered in that synagogue. so they say they are on edge waiting to find out if one of the people dead is a colleague or friend or neighbor. at tonight's vigil, people of all faiths came together. thousands of people stood in the cold rain in silence to pay tribute to those drilled their own neighborhood. then there was a vigil with chants and prayers, hurting one of us is hurting us all. people we talk to say this neighborhood will never be the same.
9:45 pm
>> it's in the back of my mind that it could happen. but now that it's happened, it's something we have to live with. >> it's only by the grace of god that perhaps the four wounded, the city of pittsburgh police officers who do a wonderful job will come home. >> i lived here my whole life. i know everybody on murray avenue. now it will be forever tied to tragic places like other cities like columbine, parkland, newtown. we'll have this massacre over our heads in the city now. reporter: the main street corridor is the center of the neighborhood. the organizers of the vigil said they could not wait another day to hold this vigil. they wanted to prove to people they don't have to live in fear.
9:46 pm
judge jeanine: next the caravan is coming. we'll talk about it with a border sheriff who is no stranger to justice. don't miss it next. there are multiples on the table: one is cash, three are fha, one is va. so what can you do? she's saying a whole lotta people want to buy this house. but you got this! rocket mortgage by quicken loans makes the complex simple. understand the details and get approved in as few as eight minutes. by america's largest mortgage lender. with my bladder leakage, the products i've tried just didn't fit right. they were too loose. it's getting in the way of our camping trips. but with a range of sizes, depend fit-flex is made for me. with a range of sizes for all body types, depend fit-flex underwear is guaranteed to be your best fit.
9:50 pm
jean report caravan of central american migrants continue to make its way through mexico with the goal of illegally entering our country. i actually traveled to the board in the summer of 2017, and saw for myself the dire battle to secure our border. the sheriff joins me with reaction to this latest immigration crisis facing our country. good to see you again, by the way. let's talk about what's going on. when i was there with you, we were on horses.
9:51 pm
you oversee 80 miles of the border across which you and i rode for a while. but not appears the president is sending even more than the original number of trees was sending as a result of secretary mattis requesting an increase in the number of troops. their position is they are going to stop them from entering. how do you do that if you don't have a wall? >> that's a challenge. i sat in the brief a few days ago with secretary nielsen and the commissioners from i.c.e. and border patrol. everything is on the table. how do we do this? and i'll speak. our county in cochise county we have done some amazing work with our partners, the governor and the congresswoman. but this is bigger than cochise
9:52 pm
county. we don't have all the fencing. we don't have all the infrastructure, and we don't have the staffing we need by our federal partners to secure the bored. if they couple en masse anywhere on the southern border it will be a challenge. we have a president stepping up, we have law enforcement stepping up. we need congressional leaders to step up and secure this fight. it's a mandate. judge jeanine: you don't have those congressional leaders. in fact you have people who in the budget pretty much precluded the president from doing the prototype for the wall. it was $1.6 billion. we talk about one caravan. in truth you have got your
9:53 pm
county, you are part of tucson, then you have got yuma. but there is a whole border of thousands of miles. there noise way you can prevent them. i don't care how many military unless they are standing shoulder to shoulder, you can't stop these people. am i wrong? tell me i am wrong. >> i can't tell you you are wrong. we know that. our federal government knows that. president trump knows that. every community. in our local law enforcement and federal partners, we are make local plans. they come to our county, they come top adjacent counties. we are working to secure the border from california to texas. judge jeanine: you can't do it. they are going to walk across. you can't possibly do it. let me ask you a question.
9:54 pm
mexico apparently said, we'll let you stay here and we'll give you asylum here in mexico. my reading of the reports are they said gee, no, we'll walk to the united states. was that a real effort on the part of mexico or were they with a wink and a nod saying say no, go to the u.s.? >> this is the big picture that worries me. the reason they take refugees. i was told the fact that they are not taking that. some did. the reason they aren't tacking that is because they are coming here because they know they can walk right in. judge jeanine: and get money, housing and education. >> and a cell phone. judge jeanine: immigrant apprehensions in your county
9:55 pm
jumped 50% compared to last year. do you think this caravan is upon seine taken was like that protest in benghazi or was this planned? >> we are up 50%. this is the worst human smuggling migration we have seen in 8 years in cochise county along the southwest border. the reason it's happening is the fact they can. due to the fact, what's stopping them. what is stopping them. we have a president stepping up and saying you are not coming in. when president trump was first elected two years ago, the human drug smuggling went down to nil on the southwest border. his message was clearly received. but they watched our congressional folks fight with our president, now they are saying they can't control their borders, we are coming.
9:56 pm
judge jeanine: i will be down there in a couple weeks. i'll join you. sheriff, thanks so much for being with us. a tragic thing in the united states of america. our live continuing breaking coverage of the synagogue shooting that claimed 11 lives and injured at least six people. we'll be here with a second hour of "justice." i'll be joined by corey lewandowski, several law enforcement and more from the president and play some of my interview with eric trump. tonight's special edition of "justice" continues at hey guys. today we're here to talk about trucks. i love trucks. what the heck is that?! whoa! what truck brand comes from the family of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road? i think it's the chevy. ford. is it ford? nope, it's not ford. i think it's ram. is it ram?

but let's be honest, nobody likes dealing with insurance. which is why esurance hired me, dennis quaid, as their spokesperson because apparently, i'm highly likable. see, they know it's confusing. i literally have no idea what i'm getting, dennis quaid. that's why they're making it simple, man in cafe. and more affordable. thank you, dennis quaid. you're welcome. that's a prop apple. i'd tell you more, but i only have 30 seconds. so here's a dramatic shot of their tagline so you'll remember it. esurance. it's surprisingly painless.
