extraordinary prosperity that we have created or whether we let the radical democrats take a giant wrecking ball to our economy and to our future. steve: that was the president yesterday. today, griff jenkins joins us live in orlando, florida with a look at some of the key senate races. hey, griff. griff: good morning, guys. this is ground zero in florida because democrats in the senate see a narrow path to possibly gaining the majority. you heard that right. they need a net total of 2 seats to take the majority from republicans who have a 51-49 majority. the five states that are in the toss-up column are florida here as well as nevada, missouri, indiana, and arizona. let's look quickly at those races in florida. you have incumbent bill nelson has a 1.7% lead over governor rick scott. in nevada, you've got senator dean heller, the republican, holding a 1.4% lead over the democrat

challenger jacque rosen. heller the only clinton won. dead even. claire mccaskill and josh hawley, absolutely facing down in one of the toughest races in the nation. in indiana, you have a toss-up democrat joe donnelly 1.2% lead over challenger mike braun. in arizona, out there in the land of rattlesnakes you have democrat kirsten sinema and martha mcsally dead heat 46%. it is really going to come down to the last minute and early number voters combined with turn out. in the house we should point out democrats have a better chance of regaining control. they need the magic number of 23 seats. there is 38 seats? house races. democrats need 23 to regain control. it's going to be exciting. here in orlando, in the i-4 corridor. we will be hitting it hard

today. brian: thanks, griff. good to see you on the road for a change. does he ever go home? i feel so bad. ainsley: you will see your wife and family in two days, griff. steve: how many times over the last year have we heard people say historically the president's party loses ground in the midterms? that always happens. with the exception of a couple of times. they continue to talk about that but, not regarding the u.s. senate. i mean, you look at the races that griff talked about, and the party insiders with the democrats say privately, that north dakota, indiana, and the great state of missouri are all at risk. that bucks historical trends. what's going on? brian: overall, have you 35 senate seats, 36 governor races and almost inversed. the republicans are up against the odds. the governor's races and the democrats are up against the odds in the senate races with 435 house seats. what i find astounding is from the cook report, to frank luntz, to 538, famously, they are all saying well, here is where

it's trending but i don't know. this thing was decided on election day last year and as frank luntz said last night, he says i am not -- he goes i have the least faith in the polls than i have ever had. ainsley: even the polsters are saying don't trust the polls. the president is out and about, y'all. he has had 11 rallies after today six days, crisscrossing this country. today, cleveland, ohio. fort wayne, indiana. and going to end in cape girardeau, missouri which is home to rush limbaugh. brian: i was in missouri they are so fatigued with politicians. donald trump across town. with the vice president here all the time they cannot wait for this to be over. ainsley: it's neck and neck. brian: josh hawley two point lead. he cancelled a couple tv appearances to get back on the stump yesterday. steve: the president has talked so much about his historic win in 2016. talks about how he has gone

and he has tried to run the table going everywhere. that's where he is going this weekend and today. and if you missed him, here's the president making his final argument. >> there is an electricity in the air, the likes of which i and you have not seen since the '16 election. this is one of the most important elections of our time. i don't know if i rate it more important than the last election, '16. but it's almost it's right there. democrats want to invite caravan after caravan of illegal aliens to pour into our country. i don't think so. i don't care what the fake media says, that's invasion of our country. this elections is about safety and it's about prosperity. america now has the best economy in the history of our country.

[cheers] >> jobs are going up, crime is going down. wages are rising. the contrast in this election could not be more clear. republicans produce jobs, democrats produce mobs. but this is the greatest political movement in the history of our country. maybe ever. we are going to fight and we are going to win, win, win. brian: president obama trying to get as big of crowds not getting there he seems -- president obama seems more desperate now than even in 2008 and 2012 to get democrats out to the polls. except for i just keep hearing the same thing we heard for 8 years he was in office. he has one promise and there is a different result. now he wants to come out and just blame president trump. i am not sure he is converting anybody. i feel like he is talking to the converted. steve: top two issues are on

the democrat side, healthcare, by sizeable margin and then on the republican side, the economy. what's interesting is the democrats do not have a plan on the economy, aside from they have suggested that they would roll back taxes and regulation. yesterday, the president was talking about regarding healthcare, he said essentially he would protect pre-existing conditions. he said, quote: the republican also protect people far better than the democrats. big question is, will the people in the middle buy it because those independents are the ones who will decide these elections. ainsley: what we saw in 2016, what the polls said. and everyone likes to look at a poll because we all like to predict what's going to happen. steve: we are lazy. we want to know who is winning. ainsley: some different polls. ntsb/"wall street journal" poll. shows both parties have gone up. more interest and enthusiasm in both parties. they, like in october, 50 percent said they were voting democrat. now 51% say they are. steve: generic poll.

ainsley: 41 percent said republicans voting for republican candidates and now that's up to 44%. steve: the problem with the generic congressional blatt iballot it looksacross the coun. it is a district by district fight. and generally, a lot of these candidates can't afford 30,000 bucks for the poll, so we don't know exactly how things are going to turn out. brian: here is the tough thing for republicans. while i agree with you the economy should be number one for republicans because it is such a big checkmark? steve: it's a winner for them. brian: i was talking to a trump official last night who said unfortunately hills industry says that the economy is only a factor when it's bad. he says when it's good, people have trouble appreciating it. that's why they believe that immigration is their number one topic even though in the perfect world, the cerebral world and not the emotional world, the economy would be number one. where there is a fear of taking away healthcare,

there's your big thing for democrats. ainsley: candidates do better with the fear? brian: do better with the fear. there is no control at the beard. nobody seems to care. ainsley: democrats say healthcare, healthcare. brian: that's what people fear. if people fear their economic success is going away not sure people feel that. ainsley: the races are very close. go and vote tomorrow if you want your voice heard. brian: one number is beyond reproach. president trump in 2015 had 40% approval with republicans. it's now 89. that's how much power he has on the stump. he is galvanized the party. steve: well, we will know exactly how galvanized the parties are wednesday morning. ainsley: correct. steve: on this monday morning, jillian has the news. jillian: that's right. and we are starting with a fox news alert now. the trump administration unleashing the toughest sanctions ever on iran overnight. the move coming hours after protesters took to the streets in the middle eastern country to burn u.s. and israeli flags while

there's electricity in the air like i haven't seen since the '16 big victory that we had together. ainsley: huge crowds showing up to rally with the president in the final midterm push. what does this enthusiasm mean for election day? brian: cbn chief david brody thafling with the president to one of those rallies and sat down with the president he joins us now. 33 million have already voted. we are on route to 100 million people showing up to the midterms. what do you think that means for the result? >> it's huge, guys. and i like to kind of term it bk and ak, before kavanaugh and of after kavanaugh. a lot of record crowds out there. i was in florida with him last week. it was interesting. he said, look, this is huge. he started to go into one of those uh-oh he is off prompter in terms of 2016, well, i know, maybe it's not

as big as 2016, but you know what? in a way he may be right. here's why. yes, the enthusiasm is there. there's no doubt about it in terms of 2018. the asterisk here is that he isn't on the ballot. yes his agenda is on the ballot and all that but he is not. we know there is a book called from drew weston, the political brain, talks about people vote with their heart, not with heir they head. and they vote for the candidate themselves. if trump is not on that ballot. the question is will it make a difference? it could at the margins, we will see. ainsley: i know you work for cbn the evangelical base. let's talk about that. most important issue for many of them was the supreme court issue. the kavanaugh effect we heard about that. that was a few weeks ago now. will people have forgotten about that will evangelicals get out to vote. >> the sense is they will. the question is how much. here's the deal. the statistic 26% of the electorate in midterm, made up of evangelicals. 26%. can they be north of that

number. they have to be at least 26%. that's the number i will be watching tuesday night. if they're below 26%. that's not a good sign for the president, for the republican party. we did talk to jenna browder my colleague and i talked to the president on air force one. he talked about this. he said look, i have the evangelicals, i love them. they love me. of course he is going to say that he even admitted in the interview he is not sure exactly if all of them are going to show up in 2018 like they did in 2016. even he is wondering about it. brian: instead of trying to convert. he tries to get everybody out. that's why he is going to the areas where he has got the popularity. we will see if that strategy works. get his supporters to vote rather than convert some people to vote for him. >> well, and there is a multiplier effect as you guys know. it's one thing to see a 20,000 seat rally and great and looks like 2016. the question is are the folks at the rally going home and tell their parents and grandparents and everybody else? i don't know. tell a lot of folks. i guess that's what they are doing.

here we are a day out from the election. what are vets focused on? what's the state of our politics? and we had a candid conversation. take a listen. >> warriors go to the polls tomorrow or generally. what are they voting on? sean start with you. >> first of all, i have never seen so much intensity and fervour around a midterm election in my lifetime. the attention that this midterm cycle is getting is unbelievable. it's unprecedented. for me, i just think, you know, veterans that raise their right hand to volunteer and serve this country and go overseas and get broke and come back, they fight and bleed for their benefits on the battlefield. they shouldn't have to fight and bleed for v.a. benefits at home. i want to make sure everyone in this country galvanizing to helping veterans. have access to the healthcare they need. >> absolutely. >> dakota how about you? >> same thing sean said. i agree with that the benefits that -- i'm going to say that they fought for, right? that they should be getting. people are going to stand up for. even more importantly like, you know, for me it's like i

want people -- somebody who is going to unite us. somebody who is going to come in and vote for what's right. not necessarily i'm going to stay in and get reelected. somebody who is going to stand and stay in and make a difference. pete: you guys are fighters. what you think of the political fight? we are in a political season we want to be unite bud right now both sides couldn't be further apart. >> we need more veterans in congress. right now people care more about their party than they do about the country. and what's the point of resistance? i mean what veterans will do, democrat or republican, we will get in the same room and talk about it and try to find a middle ground. it's not going to be on the far left or far right. resist, resist, impeach nonsense. it's like i said, i want this person to win so we can get one more vote so my party -- that's nonsense. the train is rolling. pete: what's going to be on your mind election night, marcus. >> if i could say anything, take a look at your military and at your veterans and see

that we come from all walks of life and every person that's -- you are letting your political world kind of corrupt the life. we ever all a family here. and kids come from -- and we fight and get together and we defend this country together. pete: do you see a difference from guys everybody serving now one commander-in-chief. serve under a commander-in-chief. do you see any difference now between president trump and barack obama? >> in terms of policy, absolutely. in terms of the heart and spirit of the war fighter, no. i didn't raise my right hand to volunteer to serve because of who was the president. you know, part of being a warrior and the our type of a warrior is putting your country first all the time. that is like the core of what we are all saying up here is that we just desperately want other politicians to come together and put america first. i feel for decades in this country it's always been party over country. pete: that's a great point. is america first a partisan slogan or is that ultimately what we're all talking about here. >> that's interesting you

editor at "the federalist" and fox news contributor. right in the center tezlyn figaro, former national justice director for bernie sanders campaign. and on the left james freeman gives us the thumbs up the assistant. ed: toler "wall street journal." who nts to open this up. why have some of these democrats moved so far to the left? >> i wouldn't necessarily say they moved so far to the left. i would say the question is going to come down who is authentic and who is not. a lot of these people are nowhere to be found when we are on the campaign trail. switched their position like a mattress. one minute it's one thing and next minute it's another. steve: we have tape. >> we will see if they put those things in place. bernie sanders said abolish ice and is abolish ice. why they continue to lose voters and support. tell the truth get done and believe. >> in very real debate in the democratic party about

which direction to go. moderate or go far to the left. no matter what happens on tuesday that's that will be the most interesting debate over the next two years. >> who do we believe? >> the danger is if the bernie sanders left actually means it. then you look at the details here, i think they have got very far to the left on healthcare. republicans really haven't talked about it too much bernie plan endorsed by most house democrats is to end medicare, end all private insurance. all of us going into a new government plan. this has really not been talked about much on this campaign. i think it should be. the stakes are enormous. steve: james, when you describe it like that, it sounds great until you look at the bill. then where does that money come from? >> it's not just the 33 trillion over 10 years. new tax burden, basically crowding out all government spending to make room for it it's also quality of care. when you look around the world of countries that have embraced socialized

medicine, the results are not pretty. long lines, waiting to get operations. this kind of thing. this hasn't really been discussed though. i don't know if it's because people can't believe he really means it? but, if you have a large sanders co contingent a democratic majority in the house, watch out. steve: also, the number one issue with democrats is healthcare. they have been very effective. it's not like they have a plan for how to fix it they just go, you know, when the republicans got rid of the individual mandate, you know, they did that with the tax cut. how are they gonna undo your healthcare next time? and that's a problem. >> i think partly the issue there there isn't much of an agenda going forward for democrats. a lot of what this campaign has been about is opposition to trump. that's a good message for democrats. but there isn't a lot going on with the actual what would happen should they have the power. healthcare is one of those issues that does well for them. steve: tezlyn, a moment ago you said who do you trust? we were having a conversation in the green room. the polls that are out there right now. do you not believe. why? >> i mean, all you have to

do is look back in 2016 and see that the polls are not accurate. you know, when you talk about polls and people do not want to say who they're actually supporting because they will be ostracized. this happened to me. people don't want to say what they actually believe in because they will be put into some box. people assume i'm a certain way becaused on my gender and color. even though i can tell people repeatedly i'm an independent not a socialist. people tend to not want to get in that debate. this is about the economy versus emotions. people don't want to make that decision and say i'm voting on the economy. because they feel that they are a traitor to their friends and family and loved ones. people won't be talking about it thanksgiving dinner probably won't be the best this year. because people just don't want to fight. they really don't. i don't believe poll, you i just don't. >> what we were told for the last year there would be this huge blue tsunami. democrats were going to take over the house and senate. right now sitting here yes, they will probably take the house. they probably won't take the senate. this is so dramatically different than what we have

been told for two years. it's partly because of how successful the republican agenda has been. also because of the extremism of the left. steve: had the election been last year, there would have been a blue tsunami. >> absolutely. >> no doubt. no doubt. you see that change since the republicans enacted tax reform in december. i think that's what has made the -- has given the republicans a chance to buck history. midterm elections usually very rough for the president's party. but, everything they basically predicted about the tax cut has come to pass. we have had this capital investment boom. we saw on friday, tremendous job growth. i think that economic argument gives them a shot. steve: plus, trump's personal approval rating is much higher than it was a year ago. >> he is being relentless with campaigning. when obama won in the midterm kind of goes away on their own. this is the complaints of democrats. he has been relentlessly campaigning, pushing, pushing, pushing. where democrats. >> part of the reason why he has been because it's good for the party and at any time t. wasn't good for the democratic party to have barack obama out there.

the gap between the approval and disapproval has shrunk 13 points since last december. steve: show of hands. who thinks the democrats are going to take the senate? olay ainsley: with less than 24 hours until polls open, it's a tight race for the next governor of florida. president trump rallying for ron desantis this weekend as the latest real clear politics average puts progressive mayor andrew gillum ahead by under 3 points. steve: joining us right now with reaction on a busy campaign morning on this monday, ron desantis. congressman, good morning to you. thanks for joining us from jacksonville. >> good morning. steve: we have heard so much about the early vote down in florida. there have been so many people lined up for hours to vote early. you combine that with the absentee ballots requested, what can you tell about the party demographics about who has already voted? >> well, republicans, we have done better in that than we have ever done. i mean, when the president won florida in 2016, republicans were down significantly going into election day. now, we always win election

day, but this time we were able, with the absentee and early and i don't have the final data, but we are either ahead or investor close going to election day and today on monday, the panhandle still has early voting because of the storm. so you are going to have republicans rack up some more votes today and here's the thing. we have a lot of our super voters as republicans will not vote early or absentee. they want to vote on election day. and so i think the momentum is on our side i don't think we could have asked for a better turnout for republicans for male and early voting. and we know we are going to get a good turn out on election day. ainsley: average of all the polls, real clear politics have gillum your opponent ahead by not much a margin of error. what's your reaction. >> if the poll is saying there is going to be a democratic wave. we know that's not true because republican turnout is very strong you to look at how they are doing it some of these polls say 40%

independent. we have seen about 18% so far. so, that's just the way it's going to be. so i think republicans are going to have an advantage in terms of turnout for the election. and i think i'm going to do well with independents. that's the formula for success in florida. brian: from the outside perspective, you guys could not be more different. he wants to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. he wants starting pay for teachers 50,000 a year. he wants to expand medicaid coverage. and up corporate taxes in the area and wants stricter gun controls. do you interact or do you intersect with him at all on any of those? >> no. i mean, you know, he wants a 40% tax increase. florida's economy is humming. we have an opportunity to drive historic investment in to florida on top of what we have already done. you raise taxes 40%, you're going to lose jobs, businesses are going to leave, and you are going to stop the flow of investment into florida. it would be historic mistake. is he also somebody though that always supported higher taxes and all the spending you just mentioned there is

a nonpartisan think tank that analyzed that the only way you could do that is raise the sales tax to 38% or impose a state income tax. do you either of those in florida, our economy is done. steve: congressman, one of the things that people in florida are really concerned, about the red tide and the green algae. the green goo. what would you do as governor to get rid of it? it's a big problem down there. >> no, absolutely. we will have great appointments to the water management board. people from the coastal communities that understand the effect this has had, will cut down on pollution going in to lake okeechobee beand construct this reservoir south of lake okeechobee take the polluted water, clean it, and send it south to the evergrades. but you have got to be able to work with the federal government. you have to work with the president. i have talked to him about it countless times. andrew gillum wants to impeach trump. how the heck are you going to be able to work with him to fix our water resource

think we can be as high as 56 seats on election night. and i think we have a greater and greater chance of keeping the house. it may be slim but i feel good about it. brian: look back to 2016 and see how the polls were very close but they were wrong. bloomberg had hillary plus 3. you had reuters had hillary plus 5. mcclatchy hillary plus 2. when it comes to popular vote they were right. electoral, the way you play this game they were wrong. >> the fundamental way that things have shifted in the last few years is that the data on voters has gotten much better. you know who has voted and who has voted early. what that percentage of people who haven't voteside and what their percentages of voting in one party or another. you can actually be much more precise than you have in the past than just looking at polls. hooking at the number of people voting early is so much higher. both parties. republican enthusiasm continues to get jacked up and bringing people out there to make sure that

their vote is cast and that they understand what's at stake in a way that they probably haven't in previous midterms. ainsley: predictions? >> as i said, i think the the that i wouldn't be surprised to see 55 seats in the senate. i think we keep the house. it's narrow but, you know, between 1 and 3 seats. brian: are you surprised, just quick thing. you brought up the snl and we have making fun of a special operator who is running for congress because he lost an eye in battle. >> look at this. dan crenshaw is a navy seal who lost an eye on the battlefield. and "saturday night live" mocked him for that. this isn't just pete davidson that did this. they are continuing to promote this video. lauren michaels knew about the video. he approved -- of the skit rather. he approved of it he watched it happen. that entire anchor desk of weekend update was laughing at it and then they continue to promote it on youtube. this is not apologetic. these people mocked a combat veteran and this is what they think is funny these days. lauren michael should be

there is a little bit of reason why. hillary clinton won the district by a point. guys, i could give you example after example all across the country where republicans are running in at least 23 different districts where they're defending a seat from two years ago in which they won the house seat but hillary clinton was the winner on the presidential level. i will show you up here in texas 32. these are the eastern suburbs of dallas, texas. you see where hillary clinton won by about 2 points. two years ago. pete is a really good contest right now. see whether or not he can hold that what are the early signs on tuesday night that we are looking at? pop on out here and come down to the mid south and let's look at kentucky. polls close there at 7:00 east coast time. so right about 36 hours from now, in kentucky 6 is something a lot of people have been watching as a bellwether. andy, the republican, challenging by amy mcguatemala, a first time democrat candidate. lexington, kentucky, to the north and east of lexington.

if republicans hold this seat early on the night. it's a pretty good sign. if they lose it, then we start thinking and talking about a blue wave. just another thing to keep in mind, sort of a data point here as we move throughout the night. i think the same is true in georgia and the suburbs of atlanta. this is georgia 7. gwinnett county. this is the city of atlanta down here. suburbs to the north and east. georgia 6. marietta area. kerry handle contest we saw last june. if republicans hold here, it could indicate that we have got a very close race and a very long night. if they lose it, conversely, then, again, you go back to the signs and the possibilities of what could be, what could be a blue wave. pop on out here real quick. i know this thing is doing funky things here. baseline 51-49, republicans to democrats. republicans feel good about north dakota. watch what the numbers do. they feel good about missouri. don't even think about west virginia, or ohio or florida in this scenario.

culture and politics we tend to demand apologies. they certainly crossed the line. their apology won't mean anything to me. what they should do is maybe pol their money together and donate to some veterans charities throughout that could really use some help. ainsley: what was interesting to me when i'm watch it. we get the luxury of living in this great country and you guys go out there and fight for our freedoms. you lost your eye clearly. you have through a lot of pain and surgeries. will you tell the people and the folks at "saturday night live" and pete davidson what you went through to fight for him and to fight for all of us? >> well, so, that particular mission, we were in helmand province in afghanistan. there was an ied about 15 pounds of explosives, basically a homemade land mine that went off in front of me it killed my interpreter and completely blinded me. i was put into a medically induced coma to recovery.

steve: you look how things have tightened. we're pretty sure the republicans will hold the senate and there is a possibility they could actually hold the house as well. nate silver said remember a wave when the republicans won in 2010, i think it was 63 house seats. officially the democrats need 23 pickups in the house to take control of the house. nate silver, don't be surprised if it is 15 or 19, up to 50 or 60. brian: that will be your swath. >> range of outcomes of the house will be wide, range of low end about 15 democratic pickups all the way to low to mid 50s, 52, 53. i'm a pollster. this is what i do for a living. the polls are not always right. steve: you know why? it is hard to gauge intonesty

turnout, you need good weather. steve: people are energized. a little rain will not slow them down. we have sarah huckabee sanders outside the white house. >> good morning. speaking of weather. it is beautiful day. steve: absolutely. the president is making his final pitch. conventional wisdom in the engining it would be all about the economy and kavanaugh and health care and the caravan, right? >> it is about a lot of things because the president is addressing a number of issues. the economy is booming but unfortunately the media and the democrats will never want to talk about that everything they said couldn't happen in regard to the economy under this president is happening. the stock market is booming. jobs on the rise. wages are on the rise. every sector of the economy is doing better under this president than it has in decades. that is due to the leadership he put forward whether on tax cuts,

deregulation, creating an environment that is pro-growth, something we haven't seen in a long time. but at the same time we have a huge problem on our boarder and the president is very good doing more than one thing at one time, why he is dealing with a number of issues, dealing with the crisis on the border, helping stopping people from illegally coming into this country and securing the border. ainsley: we heard foilings say if the democrats take the house it will be investigation after investigation. some are predicting that. what are your predictions, if the democrats win the house, what are folks in the white house talking about? >> look i still hope that republicans win the house but if they don't, i think what you've seen the democrats start talking about is the only message they have, that is one of obstruction. they have no policies, they have no solutions. america has some real problems we have to deal with. this is another reason when people are going to the ballot boxes tomorrow. they need to look what type of america they want to have.

somebody with a party of solution and somebody leading or a group only wants to obstruct and tear them down, which is exactly what you're seeing with the democrats. brian: "axios" did a sit-down, they aired last night, the justice department arguing that would strike down the affordable care act, toss out protections for preexisting conditions. the president said he wasn't aware of this? is the justice department acting without the president's knowledge? >> they have to do some things that are independent. the president is clear, whatever policy he puts forth on health care it will protect preexisting conditions. there are some people out there in the country want to tell you a different story but at the end of the day the president will do what is necessary to protect people with preexisting conditions but also create a health care system that actually works, that actually functions, that has competition, that creates an environment where people get the type of health care that they need, not just a card says they have health

insurance. those are two very different things. this president wants to make sure people have actual health care, not just health insurance. brian: obamacare wayne working to the point president obama didn't even run for re-election on obamacare. not even in the midterms. are you astounded that now people are running on obamacare? it was one of the most unpopular pieces of legislation ever introduced? >> it goes back to the fact democrats literally have no message, they have no solutions. if people want to move forward that is under president trump and his administration under a congress he is going out to campaign for and get elected f people want to go backward, that is the only message they have, that is the opportunity. i don't think what america wants. they love where we are. they love the idea that president trump has rebuilt the economy and booming like never before. they love the idea he remade the judiciary. they love the idea that isis is on the run. they love the idea that he is securing the border and they want to see more of that and i think that is what we'll see

reflected on tuesday. steve: look at brand new "washington post" abc poll, about the economy under the president. 65% of those responded saying it is food for excellent as we look at that graphic right over there. when people say, i have heard the president say, look i'm not on the ballot, but just imagine i am, this is really kind of a referendum on the president, isn't it? >> i don't know if it is a referendum on him but i certainly think you will see supporters galvanized because of him. certainly we've seen that as he traveled around the country. unprecedented numbers turning out for somebody who is not on the ballot, the type of energy, enthusiasm, that we've seen day in, day out, over the last six to eight weeks is something i have never seen before, certainly not in a midterm election for any president at any point. ainsley: yeah, if you look at 250,000 jobs added, unemployment at a 49-year low, wage growth fastest since 2009, 32,000

manufacturing jobs added in october. look at our 401(k)s, they have done better. let's talk about the immigration issue. migrant caravans are coming towards the united states. we are hearing numbers up to 12,000 people. the president is sending troops, how are they preparing for migrants walking towards the united states? >> the president's ultimate goal is to protect our borders and protect american citizens. that is the number one job of the president of the united states, this is something this president takes seriously, something we haven't seen in the past the president will do what is necessary to protect our borders, secure our borders, we hope we have a congress after tuesday will work with us to fix loopholes that created this incredible crisis in a totally broken system. we have to make some real changes. hopefully with the president's leadership we'll be able to do that. brian: let's talk about iran because this is something that, aside from the elections, people really should be talking about.

the president said, secretary of state said this is toughest sanctions ever, will instituted against iran to curtail their oil production, to try to shut down industry from flourishing which might have been taking place since the iran deal was signed in and now was ripped up. what is your response to the eight nations that got exemptions so they can still sell goods and oil to iran? >> like the secretary of state said these are some of the toughest sanctions that have been imposed. we'll put pressure on iran until we see they're changing their behavior. that has to take place before any pressure is let up and we'll put it where it hurts in the financial sectors, in the oil industry. this is where they feel it. that is exactly why these sanctions have been targeted in those places. steve: sarah, before you go, tell us about the rallies the president will be doing

ainsley: there are 36 gubernatorial contests that will be decided tomorrow night, 36 of them. eight of them are tossups. what are the key races to watch tomorrow? here to break it down gop strategist and pollster, john thomas. >> great to be here. ainsley: focus on a few key ones. >> sure. gillum and desantis running this is interesting race. margin of error race, means it is really tight, come to turnout. desantis is running on trump

agenda, unpoll get i cannily. gillum is running on socialist platform. it will come down to turnout. trump visited over the weekend, is he able to turn up enthusiasm in the base? one thing we know about the president, when he comes to town he revs up. i wouldn't count out desantis. i tell you this, if gillum pulls this out, it will be about 2020 talk. what the democrats will be looking at will push even harder to the left about socialism, more identity politics this is really bellwether race. ainsley: we'll see if oprah has power in the state of georgia. stacey abrams, going door-to-door. going against brian kemp. what do you anticipate. >> kemp is up a point or two points. he could be up by a point, he could be down by a point. this is really a test of star power. and oprah and others turn out the african-american coalition,

almost the obama coalition. we'll watch this closely. kemp should hold this race though. ainsley: what about nevada? >> this is fascinating one. between adam lax sult and steve sislak. the dual narratives are fascinating. laxult the republican is saying you vote for steve sislak. we'll become california. that is potent area. i live in los angeles. ainsley: that message might resonate. what about kansas? >> kansas is interesting race. trump's approvals are 53%. kavanaugh approval are 53%. the issue of immigration is on top of people's radar screen. kris kobach should be able to pull it off, if we're thinking as migrant caravan starts coming up to the southern borders, kris kobach is thought to be very strong. duffy is running on education,

senate. now they put up the house. there it is democrats would need to take 23 for them to have nancy pelosi back in the drivers seat. what do you think? >> well, the, all year long, the party in power loses seats, the question is how many historically. only since the civil war has the white house party picked up seats. last time was 2002. having said that, the question how narrow is it going to be. i think republicans had a chance to hold the house. then the generic ballot got bid. now the generic ballot is getting smaller. steve: how small? >> depends what poll. abc "washington post" was 14 points for the democrats in august. 11 points in september and seven points as of the end of october. if it gets down to five or six or four, republicans keep the house. so the question is, is it continuing to move down and how close it will get. realistically the odds are

democrats take the house and take the house narrowly. steve: some races will be settled by a handful of votes. >> we will likely have, we will be probably sitting here on wednesday morning and thursday waiting for rest of ballots to come in california to decide who gets what out of that. there are seven races the democrats are attempting to take. steve: now go to the senate. the republicans have a 51-49 margin. that is so narrow but the blah wave would have happen ad year ago, today? >> well, not, really never had a chance to happen in the senate because we only elect a third of senators. if you go back to 1914 when we began electing senators on popular vote basis there has never been a map as favorable to the president's party this one, 26 democrats, 10 of them in -- steve: luck of the draw. >> the republicans, one out of every five times the party in power holds its own, gains seat in the senate. i think this is one out of five

times. republicans end this between 51, 53, maybe 54 on really good night. steve: as the president barnstorms the country he is doing three rallies. he is talking about kavanaugh. he is talking about law and order. he is talking also about the caravan, what do you think about that? >> border security, if you look, again "abc/washington post" poll republican beat democrats on economy and border security. democrats beat republicans on health care and immigration. more you style this as border security and be prudent and reasonable bit. i think president made a mistake, if they throw a rock we will shoot them. when you're looking at pictures of poor moms and kids admittedly bad guys, may favorite moment is griff jenkins interviewing some random guy out of the caravan, my family is in virginia. i want to get up there, ask for a pardon. what was your offense?

seats. steve: what about the senate? >> republicans hold the house. i think we definitely take it to the bank, add seats in the senate. but let me give you some benchmark races. a couple i haven't heard a lot about. you hear about the andy barr a lot on house side, one of the races slipping under the radar indicative after trend people should pay attention to, steve, will hurd's race in texas. the identity politic people on the left told us forever, since donald trump elected there is rebellion amongst hispanic voters. they can't stand donald trump. how is it that a race in southern texas, largely dominated by hispanic voters the republican is up in the polls significantly? by the way in a district that is very swing. doesn't make any sense. florida 27. salazar and donna donna shalala. i think we could hold the house

by a few. brian: will hurd, across the country with the famous dialogue, with beto o'rourke. he got in a car, said there would be a way to come together republicans and democrats. oops, that didn't work. is. >> coming together part is not going to happen. there is definitely anger towards donald trump. let me give you one other place. disclosure, i ran in the race two cycles ago. maryland 6. not a race that will probably be that competitive. here is the thing, brian. it is a district, completely desperate. mountain maryland and d.c. suburbs. i lost the race by one point. the guy before me lost it by 20. the reason i almost pulled it off, mountain maryland turned out in droves for larry hogan and republicans on ticket. question for maryland 6, even if they lose by a little, applies countrywide, is the support for trump in the exurbs and rural areas enough to offset suburban

anger and democrats. it's a district people don't pay attention to but they should. ainsley: we interviewed that ex-navy seal, mr. crenshaw. he is the one that lost his eye fighting for our country. almost lost both of his eyes. last night, or saturday night on "saturday night live" they were mocking him, making fun of him. listen to this. >> you may be surprised to hear he is congressional candidate from texas, not a hitman in a porno movie. [laughter] i'm sorry. i know he lost his eye in war, or whatever. [laughter] ainsley: he is a hero. his name is dan crenshaw. he is running for congressional seat in the state of texas. he tweeted about it. he was very nice about it in the tweet but he came on with us. he is thick skinned but he didn't think it was funny. what were your thoughts? >> you know, i'm thick skinned with comedy too, guys, you know the "snl" team should really be

embarrassed. this was clearly a joke, i say that with air quotes, it was not a joke, vetted through the chain. some executive producer at some point signed off on this. pete davidson at one point says, or whatever. made me think when i was in afghanistan with barack obama. one of the most touching moments of my entire life grilled into my head, ainsley i remember going into this area in bag gram airbase. there were soldiers, talking to the officer who was running the group. i said, what happened in here? why are there so many people in the sick area, hurt, badly hurt, we went to the hospital in the base? i think there were 20 of them. he said there are only 16 left. what happened? he said well of them killed in green on green incident. you saw injured soldiers there. barack obama putting the purple hearts on them. guys, that is not whatever. okay, that is not whatever. pete davidson i think needs to understand that. that there is a certain red line in comedy and again, i got a
