11:07 pm
he didn't say anything that was in the nature of recusable commentary. he didn't make any prejudgements about the investigation. he didn't say anything to denigrate what mueller is up to. what i find fascinating. i'm not casting spirrions on deputy attorney rosen stein's ethics. i haven't heard any of these guys complaining that rosen stein is overseeing this investigation. not withstanding that mueller is investigating supposely trump for obstructing the investigation by firing comey. a transaction, in which rosen stein the key player. if there's anyone in this equation that has a screaming conflict of t interest. it is rod rosen stein. i haven't heard these guys say a word about that in. >> i have to ask you, on picks for attorney general. we all have, maybe a couple of

president. they get along. they know each other. he has already walked through the media fire. he knows what it is like to be in the bright, white spotlight of the new york media and frankly the national media. i think temperamentally he and trump are similar. they get along. they have a similar style. i don't think that's a detment in the job whatsoever. he was known as the tough as nails prosecutor. well respected at doj. i think that the bridge gate. i don't think any of that matters. i think with the number of republicans that we have now in the senate, christy would get confirmed if the president said this is the guy i want. i think chris christy would be confirmed i don't think it would be much of a problem. and i don't think the beach closure will knock him out. that's's my view. joe, give me some thoughts. christy? >> um, chris christy would be fine.
11:11 pm
he's experienced. he's smart. he's intelligent. he would have the full confidence president of the united states. to f me what was messing with te rerelationship with jeff sessions. the president is entitled to vay full-time attorney general and christy could fulfill that role nicely. >> laura: andy mccarthy what aboutcc christy? >> i've had my policy disagreements with him. ybut no one can question his credentials. i would be worried the bridge gate would be more of a problem thana i think you're calculati. i think they would try to relitigate the whole thing. >> the republicans in the senate won't. if theep president said he's my guy. i know him. he's not going to wilt under pressure and accusal. he's not going to do that it is the good relationship with mueller. he respects mueller. he's's not been on tv saying its a witch-hunt, which i think it would be a problem becoming attorney general. he has been dispassionate in his

but they're going to have to fight. >> laura: and again that's christy is a fighter. anyone seeing his old press conference in new jersey among the most entertaining. he's really smart. >> that's true. i think it is really important that someone at the top of the justice department particularly with these issues actually be a real prosecutor. >> laura: who knows how to do it and what it is all about. i think that was the deficit, wasth it not, joe for jeff sessions? and jeff sessions i think is a very nice person. he's phenomenal on some many of the issues trump cares about. he was great. love what he's doing on the marijuanae thing. i'm with him on that but his temperament, versus nuts and bolts experience in that regard. >> well, and he had another problem. the president insists on people, who have command presence. that w is certainly something which chris christy would bring to the job. with robert mueller spending
11:14 pm
more than $38 million to produce absolutelyce nothing, but way of russian conclusion. christy would be the perfect overseer of that monstrosity. >> laura: does the mueller investigation, how do you see it developing at this point with m the change of sessions? >> i think it is probably pretty right. i think mueller is toward the end of what's he's doing anyway. i love be that you want a war-time consulary. >> laura: you bette. i go for the italians. it is the italian mind-set. we like the irish too. >> is that right, joe? >> yes. yes, did. >> laura: have you never watched "godfather" one and two. the best ever made. thank you for your insight. george great to have you would you come back? >> love to. >> laura: for more on why trump won and how the g.o.p. could do

course, there was exceptions. sadly he just wasn't a great campaigner. but on the whole, trump's strong immigration policies proved the deciding factor in both the senate and the gubernatorial victories in florida, texas and in georgia. now in florida for example, florida rated immigration the second most important issue. just a few points behind healthcare. check it out. three points. now, these mid-terms also showed that neither political or hollywood star power paid off. in georgia or in florida. and what the democrats did achieve in the mid termsms is below average pickup of seats in the house against the party of power. the amazing thing is, that all of this happening, the democrats still really haven't learned
