jillian: griff jenkins at the brown county office, have they started the recount where you are? >> reporter: good morning, no they haven't. officials up all night. let me show you the image everyone is watching online and on tv. the election officials in broward county will replace pandas, giraffe end is the most mesmerizing things to see. they are separating page one of the ballot before they begin the official recount and they are under tremendous deadline. brenda snipes is at the center of the firestorm. he defended what were clear mistakes made, here is what she had to say. >> cast aspersions on my character and this was the first

time this office or i have been on the subject. if you make mistakes we own mistakes. >> reporter: the shocking tweet from jeb bush, the man who put snipes in office in 2003, no question broward county supervisor of elections brenda snipes failed to comply with florida law on multiple counts undermining floridians confidence in the electoral process. snipes should be removed from office following the recount. the rhetoric in senator nelson and governor scott continue to play out. and to attack governor scott to recuse himself. >> the undermining process, scott cannot oversee the process and a fair and impartial way. and he should remove him so from any role in the recount process.

in this race was republicans sounding the alarm over florida's recount due to the large number of ballots discovered after the polls closed. jillian: it is not surprising the questions are being raised by others outside the state as well. >> when we say they mix provisional ballots they had gone through to determine what they want to accept or reject and after that jumble them together saying we got it mixed up and don't know which is which. it is an example of the kind of letters we have seen not just this year but in years prior. when you combine that with broward county election managers, they didn't know or wouldn't say how many ballots they have to count days after the election. now they are saying in palm beach county they need more time, don't see how they can complete a machine recount by thursday. some counties are very close to it. when you look at it it is easy

to see how people outside of florida can look at this and say nobody can be this stupid. there has to be something the various going on here. rob: republican ron desantis announced the first round of transition team hires as he fights to hold onto the razor thin lead over andrew dylan. gillam. jillian: the campfire in northern california is now the deadliest and most distractive wildfire in state history. rob: more than 40 people killed in northern california as the president approves a disaster declaration. ray bogan is just north of malibu has multiple fires burn throughout the state. >> reporter: we are at the incident command center, in a couple hours hundreds of

firefighters will arrive to start a 24 hour shift. in the meantime some of them are right back there sleeping in tents. in northern california investigators are looking at whether sparking power lines may have started the campfire which has become the deadliest and most distractive in the state's history. 42 people have died, they were found in homes and cars as they were trying to escape and at last update 30% contained and cal fire doesn't expect to have full containment for another week. 6500 homes have been destroyed including some belonging to firefighters and their families. >> it is absolutely heartbreaking to drive through paradise and see the level of destruction. my family lost their home in the fire, my parents did, my mother did. >> reporter: in southern california the will the fire at last update was 30% contained.

firefighters estimate 400 buildings have been destroyed. in both fires grews are working against dry windy conditions and steep terrain the california is getting help, donald trump approved a disaster declaration tweeting he wanted to respond quickly to alleviate the incredible suffering going on. i'm with you all the way. cal fire is thinking their partners that come from 17 states including as far as alaska and georgia. rob: just starting to get those containment lines around these fires. democrat stacy abrams clinging to hope after a judge extends the deadline to certify votes in georgia's race for governor. they must wait until the end of the week to declare a winner between abrams and brian kemp. that will in response to a suit fired by a nonprofit group. aprons's campaign file lawsuits claiming thousands of ballots

who she was. she was a member of the green party far left. the media i don't think it is job portraying her as she should have been portrayed during the election. jillian: what do you make of what is happening in florida again? >> complete and utter shame. the amazing thing is i want to go back, can we have where you can only vote on election day, the whole mess of mail in ballots, absentee ballots, let's make election day a national holiday, you got to show up, the only people exemplar the military. rick scott is up 12,500 votes and most recounts only change the vote total by a few hundred. i feel confident he will pull out the win, the thing that concerns me is it looks like democrats are trying to figure out in 2018 how far can they push the envelope in regards to voting irregularities before law

which route do you think she takes can you which is the smartest? >> is winding her way down the middle, she's encouraging all these likely committee chairs who are taking over in the house to be aggressive about subpoenaing information about the president, and to vent all the enthusiasm for going after the president but she has consistently opposed impeachment. she was in the house when republicans impeached bill clinton, she knows the dangers here. the public doesn't like this but it would take some really dramatic discovery of a sort we have not yet seen to have any expectation that impeachment in the house would be picked up in the senate which is controlled by republicans so it is a futile effort but the democrats are fired up and want this to happen. jillian: if she worked to go the route of wanting impeachment

would that help or hurt donald trump? >> if we have two years of endless investigations, what people are beginning to see as harassment of the president particularly if he does a decent job on the economy and for the affairs people will not be happy about it. interestingly polls show a plurality of american voters are tired of the mueller campaign. they wanted to end and that has been champions on the left, democrats are very much in favor of the mueller campaign. that's a sign that anti-trump fatigue is sitting in. we will see. people are getting frustrated, bored of the same thing. >> they want progress, they want something to be done. democrats have been running on infrastructure program on healthcare. republicans did this, took over the house, didn't have much accomplished and voters were angry about it, see what democrats can do.

jillian: is anyone good enough to challenge her for house speaker? >> that is an excellent question. no name has surfaced. heather: you surprise? >> kind of. the people opposing nancy pelosi once younger leadership, she and her two tough aids in late 70s. there's an appetite for younger but a lot of people contending for that but it may be there is jockeying for position. jillian: looking at the list of those opposing her. are you surprised that anybody on that list? some people are surprised that connor lamb. >> some people promised to vote against nancy pelosi. and a bit of a hedge, and the district that is a tossup.

interesting comment. if you want a basic politician against this president you will get trounced. a pretty respectful comment of the president. >> i think he's right about that. michael moore was right to see the election of donald trump on the horizon despite being an ideological foe. this president had thrown up a conventional political playbook. suckers right to mention organization of money but one thing that is the x factor is donald trump who trounced three candidates in a primary who had more than double the money he did, he trounced hillary clinton despite her spending two times the amount he did because he had a clear vision, he was a change agent, he was powerful and all these political foes on the horizon don't know what they are up against in donald trump. he is unstoppable in 2020. rob: i think a lot of people would disagree somebody like joe biden, i don't think he gets anybody that excited. beto get people excited.

>> i worked in 32 congressional races. we saw a lot of things i have never seen before. i'm a democrat who will give republicans a fair shake, there's a lot of enthusiasm on the republican side but there's a lot of enthusiasm more so on the republican side from district to district depending where you are and in texas, i am from texas, the cowboy hat, i'm from texas but but o'rourke appeal to a lot of people. he could shake of the candidacy because you can't run the same race you have always run against donald trump. i disagree with him on everything he does but i give him respect on the outside of the box, doing things people can't measure. rob: what about mark cuban who has been fighting with this as a democrat, would he be a good person to run? >> i don't think so. you could bring someone from outside the political spectrum but howard schultz for instance,

former starbucks ceo. is the difference. a lot of these guys say i can do what he did, completely underestimating what he did which was to change the political playbook, not just anyone can do that. donald trump is a 1-of-a-kind individual who shows up to rallies, 20,000 people wait outside. howard schultz can't bring that, mark cuban can't bring that, donald trump is one of a kind, people might try to replicate what he did, nearly impossible. >> we will see if anyone can take on donald trump. thanks for your time this morning, we will be right back.
