remarking on how it sort of gives you a real warm feeling to know that these hundreds of thousands of people have taken time out of their busy day, no doubt, do you come stand by train tracks to pay honor to a man who served our nation for more than 40 years. it's a remarkable thing to see here deep in the heart, some small towns. we are working to find out where the train is. there is a pool just past magnolia texas along the way. this week, the bush family is traveling with the casket by car and plane over thousands of miles. his final journey, all of the family on board, slated to look like all of them, named bush 4141. family and friends will then bury him at the bush library center in college station, texas, next to his beloved wife

of 73 years, and their young daughter, who died. this morning, about 1200 people gathered here, a packed house at saint martin's episcopal. the largest episcopal sanctuary here in the state of texas with about 9,000 members. to remember him as a dedicated public servant and president of the u.s. ♪ the president's friend and secretary of state said it bush 41 had the courage of a warrior, but the greater courage of a peacemaker. secretary baker said president bush was not only his boss but also a role model and friend. >> i am glad to have u.s. such a friend, to which i reply on behalf of his friends here today and throughout the world, we

he still had life to live. and he got one more summer, and he was able to get back here to his beloved texas and pass away in the same home that his beloved barbara passed away in. you know, when you talk about the train making its way through magnolia, texas right now, when you look at the mouth, the route map, that's about the third stop or so from where it originally left this location where we are in spring, texas. suburb of texas. you can see from the map there how many different smaller texas cities they will be traveling through. and that is by design, especially because it gives all of those people a chance to say their goodbyes. the people who did not have the opportunity to take off of work or to leave or to make the drive down to houston and see the president lying in repose at his church there, or to be outside,

sort of see the circus that is all of the dignitaries and the people from all over arriving to pay their respects. this gives them an opportunity to do that as the train rolls through their small texas towns the train funeral car, the one that is painted like an american flag, that is the car out of the 13 cars on the train carrying of the flag draped casket. and it is on display for all to see, and a plexiglass window with special lighting. so we have seen people gathering by the thousands alongside the road up above those bridges just to get a glimpse. and you know what's really interesting about this is that it is all about tradition. it is all about pomp and circumstance. we have seen that this past week with all of the rituals that come along with saying goodbye to a former president. and we understand and we know

from historians that the president loved that, that bush 41 loves the tradition, that he loves all of that. the pomp and circumstance. so that is what we have seen, and right up until the very end, this train ride itself is historic because 1969, that is the last time a train was used it to carry of sitting president to their final resting place. and that was dwight eisenhower, after his national funeral in washington, d.c., his remains were put on a train and carried all the way to kansas, where he was buried at his presidential library, so a lot of history today with this train ride. shepard, as it makes its way up to college station where he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony later today. >> shepard: casey, thanks. they will get to texas a&m and

less than an hour, and that is where we find lazy akonia. we expect him to arrive, but what will we see? >> hi, shepard. we will see this as a private ceremony. will be much more quiet in comparison to everything else that we have seen throughout the days, but i am standing over here to the rights of the george bush library and museum. it will, barbara bush a drive. it leads right to the museum. it will be flanked by the texas a&m corps of cadets who will offer a salute to the president as he comes in. i saw this during barbara bush's funeral. they are planning the exact same thing. they go around the building and to the back it, and it will be the small pond. they designed this whole entire area here. the family will get out of their

vehicles. they will walk around a path, and behind these gates, and they will walk over a bridge there. they will have their final very private ceremonies. this is something that the public will not see. it will be theirs alone. shepard. >> shepard: a flyover for the ages today. >> yes, absolutely. this is going to be an unprecedented 21 flight strike fighter air flight flyover. that has never been done before. and then number three aircraft in this final flight will execute the missing man maneuver over the george bush's presidential and museum. and shep, we have been told that the number three plane on the left-hand side, where the pilot's usually goes, it will have president george herbert walker's name. and on the right, it will say "barbara, first lady, the copilot here in the situation."

and off it will go. >> shepard: love it. alecia cuny alive for us. they brought out to the school kids. lining up for a moments of history. we really didn't know what to expect from this train ride. we did not know the particulars of what would happen along the way. frankly, we weren't aware that we would have these amazing pictures. cameras on either side. these small town american themes. the people out with american flags. served as the director of the white house personnel under bush 41, and is live with us. i don't know if you have been watching this, but this has just been the greatest thing to see. the flag with the state of texas, people waving into taking videos. this is fantastic.

>> it is fantastic. george bush and barbara bush, they were beloved by texans. often sometimes erroneously, it is said that texas was his adopted state. you know, it was wholeheartedly his stage when he moved there. the biggest venture from the east coast to start his family, young family. and start his family there. and they, both of them, embraced the states and the city of houston. put it on the world stage, made at this sides of the g7 the summit. the sights of his nominating convention in 1992. texas loves it george and barbara bush, and they loved it back. seeing all of these people lining up along this route, just a beautiful tribute from around the country this last week since he passed, it's just very heartwarming. and i know it is also very comforting to the family.

>> shepard: i'm confident it is. the former president speaks so lovingly of him. you spent a lot of time on trips with him, but in 2005, we went to cover the funeral of pope john paul ii, and you were on air force one at the time and had some moments with former presidents, right? >> i did. at that time, i was serving as chief of staff to laura bush. and we were flying over president george w. bush, and invited the president to attend the funeral of pope john. and i had a few private moments to sit with george w. bush and ask him about this relationship that has been blossoming now for months at that time between he and former president bill clinton. the man who beat him was good in 1992, an election that hurt us all so badly, especially the president. and i asked him about this relationship with him. he said you know, look at, i'm

3:00. they were talking among themselves. the vote on this resolution is not binding. it is largely symbolic it, but it could be historic. for the first time ever, if this resolution passes, the united nations would call for the condemnation of hamas. now this is under the departing u.s. ambassador to the united nations, nikki haley. she is calling for the world bodies to take action. gaza, in the hands of hamas, home to some 2 million palestinians. they have been condemned as a terror group. the u.s. resolution condemns them for launching rockets and incendiary devices into israel. almost a ruptured war. hamas fired hundreds of rockets, indiscriminately targeting israeli communities. sense of personal letter urging the passage of this resolution. she wrote "through the firing of

rockets, hamas has been dangerous to lives of innocent civilians. this behavior is unacceptable here. i should say that whether or not this resolution passes is still uncertain. bolivia is going to attach an amendment to it that could actually result in the united states deciding to withdraw this resolution voting against its own resolution. also uncertain, it is possible that a simple majority may do, or it may require two-thirds of the vote. these are some of the things that at this hour remain unclear. this is the general assembly getting ready for what could be an historic day. shepard. >> shepard: for her part, and buster haley is the way out. >> very much so. she wants her legacy to be the action that she has taken. nikki haley sent in her letter

of resignation, saying that she would serve until january of 2019. that day fast approaching. she wrote in that letter that she was not going to run for office. she's going to remain a private citizen. recently, there have been reports that she sold her home in south carolina. she wants to remain a public citizen. it is a possibility she could write a book, but this for nikki haley, the united states, and the middle east, it is a very important day. she is urging passage of this resolution. this could be her legacy here as of now. what happens remains uncertain. shepard. >> shepard: david lee miller reporting live from the united nations. i had, a quick check of markets, after months of tumble this morning. more than 800 points off. as you can see, it has gotten back a lot of it, but it is nothing to sneeze at. we will talk about what is moving your money. up next.

the year at least. reporting from the new york stock exchange. a lot of china concerns. >> you are not kidding. what everybody was focused on at the beginning of the year, top chinese tech executive working for a company called huawei. a telecommunications department, bigot, big -- she was arrested. come to find out that there were allegations that she had violated sanctions that we have with iran. canada has arrested her on our behalf. traders looking at that. they were worried about our trade negotiations with china. is that going to blow it up? will there be no negotiations with china because of this very issue? part of that is because huawei is a very important company. the leader of this company is considered the bill gates of china. so that was the issue that forced companies to sell off this morning.

turning around a little bit. only down 32 points on the s&p. the good news here is that trading volumes are high. up 25%. so why is that good news? that means that there is conviction behind this trade. people were really feeling it. this is what they want to do. this is good news. i go around the floor and talk to you traders all day long. they are starting to feel a little bit better this afternoon. concerns about the market, the economy, oil prices. talked about that an hour ago. now we are seeing some bottom nibbling on some of these stocks. amazon, google. so that is good news that we are seeing some of these stocks get up. an interesting fact about facebook that i found it earlier today, 93% of mutual funds have sold their facebook shares, their sticks, over the last several months.

so what you are seeing professional investors kind of sour on this. you will have to wait and see what they make of it, what's waits for them in the coming months ahead. today, little bit more positive here. i hate to say this. the stock market, it is like a basketball game. you only really need to see the last few minutes you know what went on. we will have to wait and see what happens in the last few minutes of the market. but getting better for now. >> shepard: this is just crossing from our corporate cousins at "the wall street journal" ." they share common ownership, and i just got an alert from them. here's what it says. officials are considering whether or not to signal in december new wait-and-see approach that could slow the pace of rates increases. "the wall street journal" tweeted that -- it sent out that alerts in the last minute and a half. it looks like the dow has recovered a few points. that would be good.

>> why would this be positive? because they blow their rate hikes. if they don't raise rates as much as anticipated, that's good news for people who borrow. that's good news for like the lifeblood of the market, and companies money. cheaper to operate. it's that simple. traders like to see that. you know, it's good news for many, many companies. banks like to see higher rates because they make money on it. focusing on interest rates for the last several weeks. expecting one more rate hike in september, and i guess we will have to wait and see for that headline. shep. >> shepard: yup, we will see of "the wall street journal" moves the market on that note. great to see if you think you so much. gerri willis reporting live up from the floor of the new york

stock exchange about -- what? 33 minutes left in the trading day. down about 300. now less than 300. so we'll see if they can recover some of that throughout the afternoon. we need a little bit of news from new york as we are in houston. where are we going next? we have moved on from this. the next would be -- what facebook is at the center of another controversy, this time across the pond. releasing emails, how mark zuckerberg came up with ways to beat their competition. fox news and facebook have watch it. solely responsible for the content and its production. the fox business network, live in new york. >> so this document release goes back to u.s. lawsuit that was filed against facebook by the app developer that alleged that they favor some apps over other

others. the emails were seized by u.k. parliamentary officials when they travel to the u.k. so basically what the emails show is that yes, they share user data with developers. but they also consider charging them to use the information to basically make money off of you and me, which they have contended that they didn't. other points that this email leak has really brought forward is that facebook, they did favor some apps over others. and at some point, even impeded some applications to be a competitive threat. like twitter is video service, vine. they cut off their abilities to find other friends that were using this application, and these practices go back to 2015. when email exchange, i want to send you this excerpt from -- he says "i think we liked and fell to developers, but i just can't think if there are any instances of where it has links from developer to developer.

and because the real issue for us. facebook contends that these rules were needed to ward off what they call "sketchy apps." mark zuckerberg it says "we -- that was the main purpose of this major platform change starting in 2014. the change required to prevent the situation that came with cambridge." as jerry mentioned, facebook shs are down. we know that they are actually dumping the shares. selling it off. because of regulatory concerns. what happens to facebook in the future. back to you. >> shepard: susan lee, thank you. and the train carries on. the destination, college station, aggieland, about an hour or so away. our coverage continues.

surrounded only by his family, no press. soon the press will be able to actually see where he will be buried, but now it's going to be just them. after a few days of public remembrance, the family will say their goodbyes, and he will have his time with mrs. bush and robin. >> shepard: yesterday's events, brad, were really extraordinary. i cannot even imagine what went in to making all of the trains run on time yesterday. it was really spectacular. a fitting send-off. i just wonder how many people were involved, and what was the process like? >> there were hundreds of people involved. many people don't understand, this is a military operation. it is run by the military of washington. they are charged with these funerals. it literally hundreds of people are involved. as well as hundreds of volunteers.

the pitch in and give their efforts to help the total effort and augments the great work that was done by the military district. you should also know this. this is awesome. i just saw over the years we have been planning for this. particularly in the last couple of days. the bipartisan support for the president up on the hill. republicans and democrats coming together and offering their help and condolence was amazing. the sergeant and arms of the house of the senate could not have done more and been more accommodating to the family. the capitol police, the secret service, period of the list goes on and on and on. this has been a joint effort. a lot of different people and groups, bipartisan, and it was cathartic to see our nation come together. a lot of people put their hand in this. and the bush family appreciates it very much. >> shepard: i'm confident of that. brad blakeman, thank you for being here with us throughout our coverage. we really appreciated, brad.

we think you very much. the train coming up on navasota, texas, which i am told is the largest town along the way before they get to college station. home of texas a&m, the presidential library, and here we are, along the path. he started down in spring texas, not far from texas. the motorcade used in the sprin spring. they have made it all the way to navasota. the third from the end of their on our map it. you can see all of these people are out in the rain. especially going west from here. apparently it is raining a little bit more over there that it is over here in houston. but big crowds. when it arrives in college station on campus there, or near campus, the cadets, they will be out to give a salute. and if you've ever been to anything at texas a&m, for

instance, if you've ever seen their band to play with precision beyond belief, you know what an incredible show they put on a and aggieland. when texas a&m adjoins the sec for the first time, i went to ole miss, they went there to visit, it is not a common thing in regular-season games. they put on a show for the ages. my dad, who went to college at texas a&m, was in the core around world war ii, he had been talking about it for a year. i hope they bring their band. they did. the bottom line is that they will put on a show. and the corps of cadets there will give him the send-off that he really deserves. let's bring in clark judge. speechwriter for then-president george w. bush. i know that he loved the place that he was is going home to yu

right now. >> yes, he did. he had great pride in the library and those who run the library. he picked it because of great traditions and military traditions. great patriotic traditions. this is a great, just the place he wanted to have his final resting place. >> shepard: from your days with the then vice president, i guess the middle of his service career, what are some moments that stood out to you? >> there were many. i watched him work with foreign leaders, as we did quite a lot of traveling overseas, carrying the message of the then reagan administration. he was very loyal, and very much a partner with president reagan. and of course, later on, his

diplomacy, that is to say, president bush's diplomacy, was without parallel and bringing the end of the cold war. i saw him deal with people of all kinds, of all backgrounds, his great generosity, his great humanity. i watched him, and mrs. bush. i remember the very first christmas party i attended there at the vice presidential residence. the two of them had a great back and forth. a lot of humor, a lot of affection. as everyone has said, this is a wonderful family, and this was magnificent vice president, ultimately president. a magnificent public servant.

>> shepard: as you watch this, george bush is a super emotional guy. he has never been afraid to show it. his father was as well. i just wonder if they had expected this sort of voter turnout along this route, how he would have felt about this. >> well, i think he'd feel very gratified and humbled by it. he wanted to be remembered as a man of honor, and that's what he was. a man of service. that's what he was. it you have seen an outpouring of that along the last few days, along the path now, but in washington, all over the countr country, you've seen the outpouring of affection. it may have been a bit of a surprise to him. i know that he once asked if anybody would come and view him.

"the wall street journal" has just alerted that fiat chrysler is building a brand-new plant in detroit itself. and that plant will manufacture a new suv. this is the first new auto plant in the united states from a major manufacturing stomach manufacturer in more than a decade. closing some plans, they have announced that it will. moving six or 7,000 jobs. they are opening a new one in detroit to make suvs. expect that news on your phone presently. the pentagon reports it's carried out an observation mission over ukraine. the reason? it is in response to russia's unprovoked attack on ukrainian naval ships last month. an unarmed air force reconnaissance plane flew over the country for the first time since 2014. that's when the russian president, vladimir putin,

invaded and it took over the crimean peninsula. the pentagon officials calling this omission "extraordinary." our national security correspondent, jennifer griffin, reporting live from the pentagon. >> we will give you an idea how unusual this was. the observation plane took off from the air force base outside of washington, d.c., on novembea russian warship fired on them and intentionally rammed them at the entrance to the black sea. the russians are keeping them hostage along with the three ukrainians that attempted to enter. talking about today's open sky flight. the flight is intended to reaffirm the u.s. with other partner nations. within the black sea. a dangerous escalation in a
