"fox and friends first" starts right now. good morning to you. you are watching "fox and friends first" on wednesday morning and we appreciate you starting your day with us. let's get to the fox news alert, live look at france where an urgent manhunt for a suspected terrorist is intensifying. at least three people are dead, a dozen injured. the shooting happened at this christmas market.

mike tobin is live in studio as we learn about the suspect who was on a security watchlist. >> reporter: french security forces are searching for the man they believe opened fire on civilians at the christmas market on the eastern border near germany, 300 miles east of paris. the suspected gunman, 25 years old, he was known to security forces as a possible terrorist threat. security services rated his home before the attack. police found explosives during a raid but the suspect got away, three dad, 12 wounded. of those wounded 6 are in serious condition. the shooter got inside a secure zone and opened fire. a military spokesman said the gunman did not appear to target the soldiers who were on duty to patrol the market. rather he shot at civilians.

security forces say police and soldiers engaged him. there were two shootouts, the police union says the gunmen was shot, he hijacked attacking, reinforcements are headed to strasburg. the street -- the city is branded the capital of christmas and was targeted the year before, 2000, and sister 6 about motive, the prosecutors say the attack has been investigated as a terrorist attack linked between the suspected gunman and radical groups, the interior ministry says france is raising its terror alert level to its highest level. >> you have been following this all night, appreciate it. teresa may making a critical no-confidence vote that could remove her from office, the

division in the party for who would be the alternative. without that alternative the conservative party could risk the country going to a national election which could unseat conservative power in the parliament. it is a risky strategy. this is an extremely uncertain time politically in great britain. heather: who would be the alternative? >> some people, a lot of people name boris johnson but from what i have heard i don't think he could get the support needed to become the next prime minister. this is the problem. are they confident in teresa may? i don't think confidence is high. she has to delay the vote on her brexit deal because she knew she didn't have the votes to get this past. it is important for americans because the uk and great britain are important allies for the united states and we want this economy to be successful but the political uncertainty is causing a lack of confidence in the economy.

heather: what are the implications for people at home in the united states watching this unfold? we can bring some details of the brexit deal, the breakdown, to understand it a little more. >> reporter: absolutely. it is important because the british economy is an important relationship for the united states, incredibly important ally and we need to be thoughtful and care about what is happening here. the problem is this is a complicated process to be pulling out of the european union. my critique is i don't think great britain has come at this with much confidence which caused a lot of this division and not a lot of confidence in the prime minister but the problem is what is the alternative? by the end of march you essentially have to have either brexit or no deal. that kind of uncertainty could

have huge implications for the political process and the economic process. for our friends in great britain it is a tough time. heather: i was reading this could cause major changes to trade in every area of business, international monetary fund predicted it would warn up to 8% of britain's grossed a mystic product will be lost. >> reporter: yes but you have to respect the fact that in a referendum the british people voted to leave. there are elements that are uncertain, absolutely. most recently what happened two days ago or yesterday was the european union voted to say britain can come back if they want to so you have more decisions. does the country call another referendum and say we changed our mind and want to remain in the eu or do they see this through and the question is do they get a good deal or bad
