getting sick and dying. also criminal elements from across the border coming over here and killing folks. a classic example, police officer in california was killed. this is the border security issue. heather: they know the president will not agree to this. remains to be seen what the senate will do, as they allow the president to veto if it gets that far. is that all smoke and mirrors at this point for the democrats? >> i think it is. as far as democrats are concerned they are doing political posturing. what will take is we are going to have to, the citizens have to mobilize like they did in 2009 with the tea party movement, that is what it will take, we have to confront elected officials in their home

districts and find out why they don't want to secure the border. why they don't care about security and safety of american citizens as well as enticing undocumented immigrants from coming over. heather: the president agrees with you. in this tweet, the shutdown is only because of the 2020 presidential election, democrats know they can't when they saw all the achievements of trump. so they are going all out on a desperately needed wall and border security and presidential harassment. for them, strictly politics. i keep bringing this up. there was another location. i talked about 2006, when democrats voted for a wall and border security, the secure fence act, in 2013 border security, economic opportunity, immigration, modernization, all the way back to 1996, the time democrats, congress expressly authorized construction and improvement of fencing and other

barriers under section 1002a. they voted for in the past but refused to do it now. >> they do not want to give trump a victory so this is all about trump, all about politics. it has nothing to do. they could care less about the security and safety of american citizens, they could care less about the integrity of our nation's borders. what we need to harp on a lot is they are carrying more about political posturing than the safety of american citizens. heather: american citizens dying trying to get over here illegally, trying to cross these sections of the border where they think they can get past. i mentioned the 1996 act. in 1996, it included a triple layered fence along the 14 mile border near san diego but nancy

willing to work together than they are. do you think there's hope this time around? do you think nancy pelosi will be more willing to work with the president? >> nancy pelosi has always been willing to work with the president and they disagree with those who think the democratic party is divided. i spoke with a friend of mine who works on capitol hill for a senior member and they told me the parties are united despite the fact that you do have people like ocasio-cortez coming in, they are united on maintaining healthcare for affordable healthcare for millions of americans, united on tax cuts for the middle-class and united on defending a democracy and protecting it from foreign and domestic agents. not sure why there's this idea the party is divided. heather: some members did not vote in favor of nancy pelosi becoming speaker. >> which is expected. i don't think she's ever if i'm not mistaken gotten 100% of the

vote. you have this more far left members coming in which will not bode well for them as freshman members. heather: do you think there's any room for negotiation with the president? they put forward these bills without funding for the wall knowing full well the president and republicans said that is a nonstarter. heather: the first issue is the president flip-flopped on this. he agreed to sign a bill that did not necessarily include full funding for the wall and at the last minute he flipped on that. that is the issue. the other issue is we don't know what we are getting. senator graham said this is a metaphor for border security. getting fencing? if the president says what his border security looks like, it

will be hard for democrats to support him on that. heather: what was and what democrats had to say in the past. >> we cannot allow people to pour into the united states and detectives, undocumented, unchecked. >> american people are fundamentally pro-legal immigration and anti-illegal immigration. heather: democrats have been in favor of border security, fencing, a wall, portions of it, in the past. if you heard members of the cvp the joined the president in a press conference they talked about this and said there are different areas that need different things. scenarios need a wall, some areas need fencing, some areas need more money for border protection agency that is what they are talking about in terms of 5 million members they are asking for and lindsey graham throwing in they are willing to

talk about daca. >> i'm not sure what the problem is. it has supported democratic policies when it comes to immigration. in 2013 schumer put forth legislation, 40,000s additional border agents on the border, 700 miles of fencing, a 13 year pastor citizenship when it came to doctor recipients. >> republicans are going back to where we were in 2013 so not sure what the fight is over. i think the president needs to do the president and republicans need to be clear.

jillian: and democrats willing to negotiate and have a conversation. yesterday they voted to go home. >> the president said this is his shutdown. heather: democratic and fighting with ocasio-cortez among others. this hard far left contingency everyone is talking about in the democratic party. >> ocasio-cortez has to be careful. i admire her for her hard work and campaigning and being the youngest member of congress but she is burning more bridges than she is building right now and she has to understand when you try to define nancy pelosi, that's a bad move was the american people are voting on your bill. it is members of your party that are voting on your bills. if you burn those bridges and you need their support you are not going to get it.

by march 2nd. >> the best way to keep the upper hand is not to have an agreement. too often in the past we have had agreements with china, they violated all of them. we give up important concessions from your promises from china, china don't honor those promises, donald trump should say we are keeping tabs in place until the us -- they stop predatory trade actions, when china starts to act responsibly, we let up on tariffs and other measures. heather: some of that has been credited with wacky movements with the stock market but in terms of the dow dropping it is good for the us. >> it shows weakness in the ties economy giving donald from more leverage in trade discussions. the dow dropped 600 points, people are concerned the

slowdown in china, china for 3 years going back to 2016 is growing in the low single digits in the us economy powered ahead. and china is a lot less important than people think. we shouldn't be worried about what is happening over there. heather: let's move from china to north korea. donald trump touting progress being made with north korea. heather: sent another letter, no date has been announced. how will china play a role in that as well? >> china has played a maligned role with the last 6 or 7 months, openly violating us sanctions and the south koreans
