now. he will be in this chair on monday. can't miss another episode of "hannity." he does give the best coverage on what's happening in washington, d.c.. thanks for watching. >> laura: i'm laura ingraham and this is "the ingraham angle" from washington tonight. remember this scene? a conservative volunteer being beaten by a thug on campus. charges has now be hot. the victim is here to tell us his next step. plus, it was a call to arms on what might be the coming onslaught of socialism and it rocks cpac. plus, two friday favorites, tammy bruce and jeff are here to highlight the worst in media this week. and there's a lot of worse.
7:01 pm
and raymond arroyo joins us. and a big question, is it time for men to start chest feeding their newborns? we'll explain. but first, the rise of socialism is trump's gain. that's the focus of tonight's angle. oh, things are cooking in america's socialist kitchen. the democrat primary season is almost a year away, be bernie sanders is already slated to nab the coverted endorsement of the democratic socialist of america. and yesterday, ocasio-cortez d read her party the riot act. she told them to either hop aboard the socialist train or get squished on the tracks.
7:02 pm
>> she did stand up and argued to those moderates, look you can't do this, and there will essentially be some sort of track keeping. >> while others have laughed at aoc and her sister in socialism, i think they're the legitimate thought leaders of the democrat party. pelosi has been in congress for 31 years and has 2.3 million twitter followers. ocasio-cortez has been in congress for two months and has 3.3 million followers. the new socialists may be inexperienced, but they're bold, energetic and determined to shake up their establishment. now, i take them at their word. they want a complete transformation of american society that will require massive wealth confiscation, government takeover of certain
7:03 pm
industries and an overthrow of the free market. it is bizarre that this is the democrat's answer. trump is presiding over the strongest economy in the world. and the timing of the socialist embrace is even more bizarre, given the fact that the same philosophy is in death throes around the world. europe's once dominant socialist parties are on life support. remember in 2017 we saw a devastating near wipeout of the socialist party in france. we saw crushing defeats of the social democrats in germany and the labor party in the netherlands. in italy, they imploded and opened the door to two populist
7:04 pm
parties. in sweden, the refugee issue dominates politics and lost support leading to a hod -- hodgepodge there. in brazil, the workers party lost the presidential election to a right-wing populist. in venezuela, well, of course, that's a complete disaster on the verge of collapse. presumably, aoc and sanders are aware of these developments. is their argument going to be, don't worry, trust us, because all of those countries got socialism wrong, but we'll get socialism right? president trump has a phenomenal opportunity to continue the
7:05 pm
conversation he started about socialism at the state of the union. and as larry kudlow said at cpac yesterday... >> join us to put socialism on trial and then convict it. >> and be the way, larry will be with us later in the hour. you do not want to miss this appearance. be conservatives, republicans, and president trump, they're not going to panic about it. this is a moment. we should relish this moment. they should spend the time to listen to and speak with young people, latinos, african-americans whom the left is targeting, because under socialist policies, they'll be the ones who will be hurt most. and aoc will just move on to their next con job. and that's the angle. joining me now with reaction is victor davis hanson. it is amazing when you do a real
7:06 pm
cataloging of leftist movement or the socialism period in europe and around the world. it's basically in wipeout phase, and that's the go-to for aoc and of course old bernie sanders. >> yeah, i think part of it is true of all these movements throughout history, the french revolution. it's a holistic ideology, laura, where it involves all of your persona all the time 24/7. it's a joyless, without any mirth. and what happens is yesterday's radical becomes a conservative today as each iteration gets more radical. we have aoc being a barista a year ago.
7:07 pm
and part of it is it's an irony that the united states has been so successful, it kind of pulls up the entire world company. it polices the world order, its military keeps the peace, and allows these other countries to experiment with socialism, otherwise they wouldn't have the capital or the ability. when you're hitting 3% gdp and you've got low unemployment and low interest in a high stock market, all of these people come out of the woodwork, and say, i would like to be a socialist. >> i want to play something that bernie sanders said about the nomenclature. let's watch.
7:08 pm
>> we never use the word left. but the issues that we talk about, is it left to say that in this country we should have a minimum wage that is a living wage? is it left to say that everybody should have healthcare? is it left to say that we have to address the crisis of climate change. >> when you do this, you're really smart, be i the way. it's all wrapped in this morality play, even though this economy is a broad-based recovery, especially blue-collar workers finally having more opportunities because of trump's policies. >> the minimum wage is irrelevant now because people can't find workers and they're driving wages up, as it should be in an competitive economy that works. sanders is like a court jester. he can say all this stuff because he owns three homes, his wife did pretty well.
7:09 pm
and it's the same for all of these candidates. they all say they're socialists. they make fun of capitalism with the understanding that they have a malibu estate if you're a hollywood star. that's how it works. but the only difference is now that apparently a lot of people take this seriously because we have been so successful and created the greatest level of affluence and prosperity, we didn't take the time to explain how it all happened. >> yeah, lazy in educating. >> and we haven't stood up to them either. >> laura: i want to ask you -- yeah, challenge them, put it on trial, as larry kudlow said. i completely agree with you. we'll get into that later on in the show. as you know, victor, the democracy dies in the darkness, or at least at 5:15 pm on a friday, because that's when the

7:11 pm
you have to have consequences for lying and for fantasies and fabrications. >> got to take them to court and make them pay. thank you so much. and tonight there's finally an arrest in that brutal attack on a conservative volunteer on the campus of uc-berkeley. february 19th hayden williams went to recruit conservative students and this was the response. 7:12 pm
why did it take so long to find this guy? >> well, i think due process was being followed, which i appreciate that as a constitutional conservative myself. i'm grateful that the police did their job and found this guy, but i remain disappointed with uc-berkeley and the fact that they allowed such a culture of intolerance and violence towards conservative viewpoints to grow and thrive. >> it was an attempt to say, don't try this again. you've represented a lot of people who have been treated terribly just for their viewpoints. >> the next step is now that he's been arrested, the investigation will get turned over to the prosecutors office. the bail is said for one count of felony assault with great bodily harm. you can see he has a bruise on his face two weeks after the fact. in previous incidents on the
7:13 pm
campus, they've been pled out apprehe and the felony charges are dismissed and no charge is served. that's my concern right now. >> are you going to file a civil suit? >> we don't want to get in the way of the criminal process. i think that's really number one. number two, he appears to be somebody who has a history at uc-berkeley, somebody who has worked for the campus for a period of months and also audited classes there. and as hayden said, it is common for these antifa type thugs to float around, menace people, throw punches. my clients at uc-berkeley have experienced this many times. >> is this going to stop you from being involved? >> this is only emboldening me. >> well, maybe take a little
