center of city of christ church on the south island of new zealand. it went on five minutes. 41 people died. just one of those mosques. witnesses describe a heavily armed man dressed in black military style clothing. police also found two explosive devices fixed to a car and other weapons. now, the prime minister of new zealand has condemned she's shootings as a terrorist attack. >> this is one of new zealand's darkest days. clearly what has happened here is an extraordinary unprecedented act of violence. >> now new zealand police detained four suspects right after those shootings. one man has already been charged with murder. he has not been named but an australian man is being linked to the attack after claiming responsibility online. this man also wrote an anti

immigration manifesto and apparently posted a violent video of the attack online it is still circulating on social media. at least 20 people were injured in this shooting, too. they were rushed to hospitals for emergency treatment. police cordoned off the areas around the mosque. urging people to stay indoors for now. authorities are emphasizing that they do believe this is a one-off incident. they are not expecting any more attacks. certainly ramping up the security. this is a country very much in shock. they are not used to this level of violence at all. back to you guys. jillian: i was talking to a friend last night she lives in new zealand went to college with me. texting me and said we just had a massive terror attack before america even knew about it i was in the carpool line waiting to get my little girl from school. they rushed all the parents into the office. the little girl was in lockdown so she couldn't get to her daughter. she was so thankful she was in the school with the parents. her husband was on lockdown. we have never experienced anything like that. can you walk into their

schools their school doors aren't locked. brian: restrict gun laws you wouldn't expect anything like this to happen. the term immigration demeanor of this video the shooter either played a ton of video games he was laughing, calm, cool and collected as he was executing people who were unarmed. steve: well, he obviously wants notoriety because he live streamed it as kitty just said. the video has been taken down from facebook. it was 17 minutes in length. because he wants notoriety we are not going to use his face or name. but on the video you can see him driving through christ church in new zealand. just before he stops at the first mosque he says let's get this party started. he enters and fires. and then another part of the video shows bodies piled up inside. then he gets into a beige subaru station wagon and drives away. he says and you can hear his

voice he says there wasn't even enough time to aim there were so many targets. inside that mosque at the time were hundreds of people. ainsley: is he so hateful. if you read this manifesto he started planning it two years ago after the terror attack in stockholm on april 7th, 2017. that started off. he wanted to avenge the deaths of his people. he doesn't like how america is a melting pot of individuals. evidence thinks people need to stay in their homelands. he doesn't hate muslims in their home land and practice traditions in their own nations. brian: jim hanson on "fox & friends first." special operations operator. he has seen some of this up close and personal. >> it's hard to even imagine the mentality that decides i want to just not slaughter a bunch of people because of my obscene beliefs but i want to broadcast that to the world in the hopes of creating a race war, which was his avowed goal. and i think it's horrific. i think this is something

fence and sneak around. if people think that every one of those 10 that snuck around is a good, decent person, they're living in a fantasy world. ainsley: we had tom homan on and he was saying that by the senate rejecting the president's plan. he said that's ridiculous, there is definitely a crisis down there and definitely an emergency. what are your thoughts? >> tom homan is absolutely right. he is a guy that's got a heck of a lot more experience on the border than i do. he is 100 percent right. what happened is they know, the politicians know this is a crisis. and what you are talking about, what we're talking about today is another example. so this was purely about politics. identity politics, political ideology. they know there is an issue at the border. they are failing to do their job. so if i had two seconds with the president, i would look him in the eye and say thank you, thank you for doing what other people have not done, have failed to do to protect our border. i absolutely hope he vetoes this. brian: mark, you said before in 15 minutes i could work this and change our policy

and immediately have an effect on the border barrier or not. what are they? >> first of all, we have -- brian, that's the big issue. we have to stop incentive from these people coming here one thing you could do is those individuals come and seek asylum. they are making them wait in mexico for their asylum hearing to come up which we know the overwhelming majority of those are false claims and are denied. that's one thing we could do tomorrow across the expire southwest border. we remove the incentive. they will stop coming. ainsley: i know you know robert mueller and all the key players in the mueller report are we going to see that report drop today? >> you know, the information that i'm hearing is mixed. we keep talking about that all the time. going to come the next day. here is what i will say. i worked for director mueller for 12 years. when he is ready, and the report is complete, that's when we will see it he is not going to be impacted by any outside pressure whatsoever. brian: we saw peter strzok's testimony, we saw lisa page's testimony.

♪ ainsley: we are back with a fox news alert. new zealand now on high alert. at least 49 gunned down in what's being called a terrorist attack on two mosques. many of the victims are believed to be migrants or refugees in new zealand. four people now in custody. brian: police say one australian man is charged with the murder and appear in court tomorrow morning. yep, he is alive. said to have anti-muslim and anti-immigration agenda. steve: video of the attack was live streamed on facebook. but authorities there are urging people not to share it. it has been taken down. but it is circulating. prime minister is condemning the shootings. they are referring to this as new zealand's darkest day. and while this person clearly wanted some sort of, you know, attention by livestreaming it we are not going to show his name and use his name. we are not going to show his face. but, you know, there were hints out there because on his twitter feed apparently there were images of ammunition magazines with

names scrolled across them in marker including the names of two masked shooters who targeted migrants and muslims. ainsley: he was there in new zealand training according to his manifesto that he wrote. he wasn't planning on doing this in christ church. he said he started visiting. so movingmosques and determinedt these individuals, basically according to this manifesto, is he a sick man. he is saying they deserves it because he was avenging the deaths of his people from other terrorist attacks. brian: one of the witnesses of a survivor said this he came in and started shooting. i laid down on the bench if i get up i will get shot. i'm just going to keep my fingers crossed so i can be alive i was the last guy who came out of the mosque after the shootings stopped. there were a lot of bodies. first we heard 20. and then we heard 40 and then topped out at 49 with several severely injured. three separate stories even developing. when i got on amtrak and so

about it because it undermines where we began today, brian. the protection of the dignity and rights and religious freedom of every human being. when i hear anti-semitic remarks it saddens me and i know it undermines what is the greatest about the united states of america. brian: seeing you and the president walk away in hanoi. you do a great job keeping a poker face. but as the president spoke and talked about the deal you weren't going to have. do you feel personally that you let him down? >> i don't. i think we made real progress. even in hanoi. even a place where we didn't reach the final resolution of what we have been asking for all along. we didn't get an agreement for the full and final denuclearization in a verified way. this is a long process. the president has always said if we can keep flistles flying and keep nuclear tests from happening that's a good first start. we know what the final objective is. brian: it looks like the president and president xi if they are to meet at mar-a-lago, it's not going to happen until at the earliest mid april. what's going on here? >> so real progress has been made. i think that's absolutely

true. i think both leaders want to make sure we have had enough progress so the two seniors president xi and president trump can get together and close out any of the remaining items. whether it's the beginning or middle of april or even take as couple weeks longer we ought to get this right. hopeful the two leaders can come together to get a trade deal that will benefit not only america but the rest of the world as well. brian: your message to the venezuelan people how much garbage do people have to eat before america gets more directly involved? >> boy, when i think about how bad it is today and what i know it's going to be like tomorrow and the day after that it's going to get worse. the maduro regime is truly evil. denying food to the hungry. denying medicine to the sick. we have delivered -- the american people have been so generous. 200 metric ton on their borders they won't let in. we are continuing to take effort. brian: have we put troops into colombia ready to act should they need to act? >> i will let them talk about the movement of their soldiers. brian: i understand you are

making a trip to the middle east iraq and iran meeting forming relationships. iraq is ignoring the sanctions and grand ayatollah sis stane sat down with the president of iran. seems like diplomatic power we are getting our butts kicked over there. what's happening? >> i don't see it that wait a minute america is a strong supporter of iraq. still working to take down isis in their country. i had a conversation with their prime minister jewels a couple days back. i think we are making progress on developing a strong, independent sovereign iraq. there is no doubt iran has its eyes set on taking control of that country. i don't think that's good for the iraqi people. i know it's not good for the united states of america. we are going to continue to do the fight there and stand up an iraqi government that's free and less involved with what's going on in iraq. brian: is it true that members of the taliban five what the previous administration let out of gitmo they are part of these peace talks right now. the ones that we exchange for bowe bergdahl many described as the worst of the worst. is that true? >> brian, i don't want to

answer who has been showing up there. i will say this. brian: is that acceptable if they're? >> i will say this. we have negotiated with really bad people. state department doesn't often get to choose exactly who it is. we are trying to achieve good security outcomes for the american people. sometimes we end up talking to some really bad folks. brian: they would be okay to stay in that room as far as you are concerned? >> if we can deliver security for the american people we will talk to just about anyone. brian: before i came in here it became clear the republicans have jumped ship and decided to not vote with a piece of legislation that does not go along with the president's need for emergency money at the border. do you side with the 59 that voted against the president or do you side with the 41 that voted with him? >> count me in the 41. brian: why? >> i have spent a lot of time with my mexican counterparts. this challenge at our southern border is real. i believe it's a crisis. call it what you will. a challenge of knot knowing who is coming in or out of our country. drugs or people or i will illict

police charging one man with murder overnight as normally peaceful nation remains on high alert. steve: kitty lo logan is following our story from our newsroom and joins us live. kitty? >> good morning, guys. well the shootings happened at two different mosques in the city o. the police saying these attacks were very well planned. the shootings started at around 1:45 local time. that's when the mosques are very biz with people attending friday prayers. the attack happened around five members. police say 41 people died at just one of those mosques.

many of the victims are thought to be refugees. witnesses say the gunman wore black military style. found two bombs in one car didn't go off they are being diffused. the prime minister has condemned these shootings as a terrorist attack. and police have since detained four suspects. they were arrested immediately after the shootings. one man in his late 20's has already been charged with murder. authorities have not named him but an australian man is being linked to the attack. this man also posted lengthy anti-immigration manifesto online in which he claimed responsibility. a graphic video of the shooting was also posted online. that has been removed but it is sadly still circulating. police say none of the suspects that they have detained so far were on any previous terror watch lists at least 20 people were in these shootings.

they were rushed to the hospital in these treatments. police have combed the area they are encouraged to stay indoors. that city remains in lockdown. new zealand hasn't seen a mass shooting or any kind of mass shooting in at least 40 years. this is the worst the country has ever seen. the security alert has now been heightened. for now the country remains in shock. back to you guys. steve: all right. kitty, thank you very much. you are right about the security being heightened. there are 1,000 police in new zealand and in the christchurch area and almost everybody, it's all hands on deck right now. they would hate to think that this was part of a coordinated attack right now it does not look like there was more than these people who were involved. right now only one man is charged with murder. but, you know, as she painted, he had this big manifesto that ainsley has in her hands. he wired up his cars. there were a couple of ieds on his cars and then live streamed the whole thing on facebook. went 17 minutes. we're not going to show the guy's face. we are not going to tell us his name. he want the note right.

because they are using wands and metal detectors to make sure you don't have anything dangerous. steve: absolutely. apparently he was able to livestream this thing on facebook. facebook has taken it down. but it is floating around on the internet. apparently he had a grow pro o -- gopro-on his helmet. he turned it on when he headed to first mosque. you can hear him say let's get this party started. he pulled up and started firing and then he pulls away. we are getting into our newsroom right now some of the video where a hero cop actually pulls him out of his car. and we are going to be showing that to you very, very shortly. ainsley: tells you how sick he is he thinks murdering this many people is a party while they are in their mosques? steve: it's unbelievable. anyway, we will keep you posted on what is going on down in new zealand on this friday morning. brian: four minutes now after the hour. let's change gears and talk about what happened on capitol hill yesterday. in that immigration border

patrol action. the president is trying to get done it repurpose money in order to secure our border. so he did it and the senate went -- the house went ahead and said we are going to disapprove of this. and the senate did, too. by a counts of 59-41. with 12 republicans deciding they could not support the president on thi for constitutional reasons. i don't know one republican and if democrats were given truth serum i'm sure they would feel the same way. doesn't think there is a crisis or emergency at our border. the president tweeted this out. didn't go out for revenge or didn't rebuke or warn. i look forward to vetoing the just passed democrat inspired resolution which would open borders while increasing crime, drugs and trafficking in our country. i thank all the strong republicans who voted to support the border security and our desperately needed wall. steve: the night before, rand paul -- rather lindsey graham, ted cruz and ben sasse showed up unannounced at the white house. and the president was having a dinner. and they tried to talk him out of vetoing and instead adopt a compromise. and i'm told the president

was really steamed that they showed up and tried to talk him out of it i mean, this is one of his core issues. he has said there is a crisis at our southern border. and we have shown you, many people who are professionals who say exactly that and for these republicans, these dozen republicans to fly in the face of the leader of your party, you know, have you got to figure they are going it take some flack for people who voted for that. ainsley: you might want to know who these senators are if you live in those states. rand paul, lee. collins murkowski, alexander. rom my, more ran, toomey, portman, wicker, rubio and senator blunt. mitt romney says this about the constitution and. it's not border security because he does support a barrier. thom tillis was going to oppose and then changed his mind at the last minute republican from north carolina. he says he is sympathetic to the president's push. the president really wanted this measure -- he really

wanted to solicit emergency order supported by these especially republican senators but they weren't all on board. brian: worried about a democratic president that would want to do things that are against something a republican would want to do like do something emergency action on climate change and take some money from one pot and say hey president trump did that back in 2019. meanwhile, senator lindsey graham also a lawyer by trade before he got into politics said the president had every right to do this. >> to reject his decision that process is happening right now. the president will prevail. but i don't -- i don't think for a moment they are not sincere. i just disagree with their analysis and we're going to keep building the wall. >> means he is dead serious about building the wall. and if a republican or democrat gets in the way, he is willing to build a wall. ainsley: a lot of people might want to say the president is doing this and exercising his power i'm in charge.

don't forget that when you hear tom homan talk and he said no, the president really believes this is an emergency. he says i worked on the border. i know this is a crisis. i know that there is an emergency. when you see these images of people throwing children over the fence to distract the border guards so that smugglers and migrants can come through. that is an emergency. if you are a parent, imagine if that's your child? steve: keep in mind the president had the power to do what he is doing. what happens now now that they have approved this resolutions of disapproval. now it's going to go to the president's desk where he is going to sign it and going to be like i'm not going to sign that. that's bad for me. he is going to veto that and then what's going to happen next is he is going to take some of the money that he has already told us about, and he is going to say i'm going to use that to build the wall and then there will be a court challenge. this could take six months, it could take a year. it could take years. nonetheless, as he runs for president then, the president is going to be able to say look, i did everything i could. i even vetoed that thing. there were a bunch of republicans who voted

against me. i'm doing what i promised i would do, and that's why i'm fighting for that wall. brian: they are building portions of the wall. mark morgan was on with us earlier and said congress has failed. this is policy. not only barrier it's policy. listen. >> congress has failed to do its job to protect this border. the politicians know this is a crisis. this was purely about politics. identity politics. political ideology. they know there is an issue at the border. they are failing to do their job. so if i had two seconds with the president, i would look him in the eye and say thank you. thank you for doing what other people have not done and failed to do to protect our border. i absolutely hope he vetoes this. ainsley: some of these senators that voted with the democrats maybe their thought process is i want to follow the constitution and my opinion i feel like i have to follow the constitution and power of the purse rules. but, they still support the border wall. steve: sure. ainsley: still support the president. maybe they are doing that so they can go back and look at voting record when it comes

at least 20 people were injured in these attacks and rushed to hospitals for emergency treatment. police cordoned off the area surrounding the mosques urging people to stay indoors. it is nighttime in new zealand and the remainder locked down and these shootings have international condemnation. donald trump says the us standby new zealand after what he described as horrible massacres and the white house added a statement, the united states strongly condemns the attacks in christchurch. our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. we stand in solidarity with the people of new zealand and their government against this vicious act of hate. new zealand is on high alert but police reassured the public they don't believe there is a further attack planned but this is a shock for a very quiet and normally peaceful nation. >> let's bring in geraldo rivera. when you heard this news what was your reaction?

>> my first reaction was to feel like i felt on the day of the tree of life massacre, the synagogue last year, october. in the sutherland springs church massacre the year before that. these are sitting ducks, people who are praying, targets that have no defense. there are more murders in new zealand this morning than there were in the course of an entire year. the manifesto seems to indicate this crazy mass murdering theme, motivated by the immigration crisis. he said he is a white nationalist, immigration is as hot an issue there is a was here or in great britain.

it was one of those things, multiple perpetrators apparently if those reports are true. ieds attached to the perpetrator's vehicle. this was a butcher out to get a butcher's bill. there were three or four perpetrators, very serious attack, all white nationalists, and escalation of violence that is horrifying. >> four have been arrested. one man, a guy in his 20s was charged with murder. what does it say about him or our culture that not only would he kill all these people, there were hundreds waiting, he said there wasn't any time to aim, there were so many targets. he didn't just kill the people that had to do it on social media. he had ago pro on his helmet and walked in and live streamed on

facebook for 17 minutes. why was that? >> there is this seth exultation, look at me, look at what i am doing, they are so nutty, beyond the pale of human experience, people who see human life as like a set piece, like scenery for their social media, live streaming, 17 minutes for the new zealand cops who are often unarmed, to respond to the scene. i always go back to the -- i would never have people in one place like that vulnerable witht somebody with a gun to protect them. they are too vulnerable.
