♪ ♪ >> tucker: this is a fox news alert. for close to two years, american politics has been stuck in a state of suspended animation. two years, the city, the city of washington has been utterly consumed by the far-reachingun investigation of special counsel robert mueller. the business of running the government, improving the lives of people who live here, those have been a distant second for two years. tonight, the mueller era is ending. at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, robert mueller delivered his report to the attorney general to the united states, william barr. welcome to "tucker carlson tonight." the mueller report has not been released yet but there are some things we want to know about its contents. we wanted to start with our
9:01 pm
special coverage with mollie hemingway. mollie, thanks a lot for coming on. what strikes you about what we know now? >> we really won't know yet what's in their report. there are a lot of calls for people to be transparent about it. one of the interesting things we find out today, there are no newro indictments that are comig from a special counsel. the reason why that's significant, you take a step back and think about what brought us here. several years ago, there was a political operation that was secretly bought and paid for by the hillary clinton campaign and the democratic national committee to claim that donald trump was an agent of russia. this was back to the media who largely took it uncritically and accepted it and push it out. then it was weaponized by some of the highest levels of our federal government and was used to justify wiretaps against trump campaign affiliates, the placing of human informants against the campaign, and all sorts of actions that were pretty extreme. eventually, the blood to the special counsel. for years, we had this slow drip
9:02 pm
of stories claiming that when it all came out, we'd find out that donald trump was definitely, the evidence showed, and nature to russia. learning that they are no more indictments comingng down, if tt were true, if it were true he were a nation under pressure, you would not be seeing one indictment, you are seeing dozens if not hundreds. >> tucker: justified indictments. if the president was a agent of a foreign power, yes. >> hopefully would be taking it very seriously. we've been promised they were evidence. high-ranking members ofco congrs claiming there was evidence. to find out that in fact there is no evidence to support such an indictment against anyone closely affiliated with the president, all sorts of other people caught up in ms. probe, but not for treason exclusion with russia to steal the 2016 election. that is significant, no matter what comes out of this now, and there should be people who are held accountable for having uncritically spread this theory without evidence. >> tucker:r: i agree completely. of the many threads, may be the most significant is the fact --
9:03 pm
not the speculation -- the fact that a presidential campaign was spied upon by the government of a rival party. barack obama's administration spied on donald trump's presidential campaign. the pretax resource inclusion but they did it. why isn't the press more curious about that, why isn't former president obama testifying that might testifying? >> part of the reason we have not had more answers from president obama is the first issue. the price of been remarkably incurious about this. normally this would be the story that reporters would wait a lifetime for, finding out that the fbi was so politicized that they were running informants, spying on a presidential campaign, they successfully secured a wiretap against an individual who, it's worth noting, just found out today, there are no further charge is coming. that means that wiretap was run against that individual and there might have been several wiretaps against individuals with no indictments coming. that means they were harassed by the federal government and they were not with the federal government had claimed. >> tucker: that is it right
9:04 pm
there. the proof is in the indictment, or lack thereof. if i violate your civil liberties, if i make it impossible for you to make a living, if i destroy your reputation, such that you can't have a job again -- they for knighthood number of people -- then i don't and argue for the crimes everyone has accused you of, doesn't that mean that i was wrong, you are right? >> search in the not suggest they were right to secure wiretaps. it's also interesting because people said, mueller is wrapping up, let's move on from this. good to know that president trump is not an agent of food and, as if they want real harm or damage caused by people weaponizing this information operation that was thepa hillary clinton campaign operation. as off the country weren't harmd by it, as if our attorney general burned completely kneecap. as if you didn't have people having to pay a lot of money to defend themselves against this investigation, and if you didn't have people undermining the administration for several years. people need to be held accountable for what they did to spread this theory, and that is
9:05 pm
true both inside the government at outside the government. the media want to move on and quickly find a way to justify their behavior but i don't think people forget what they were subjected to for the last several years, and how people who were skeptical of this crazy collusion conspiracy theory were treated when now we see no more indictments. >> tucker: they injected poison into the bloodstream of this country. you are right you know to theho former attorney general jeff sessions, whose reputation was completely destroyed. >> he was supposedly an agent of putin. >> tucker: he was attacked by the president to faithfully serve because of this investigation. he should have not recused himself. >> tucker: i agree but he was an honorable man.n he's been hurt by this. so many victims of this and i hope we take time. somebody takes time to apologize to each one of them and they try to make it right. mollie hemingway, great to see you. t thank you for starting off the show.an it is you heard, the mueller report has arrived, no further indictments according to a senior dod official. that is it. no one also be invited to this

investigation. to repeat: after all of this, years of this, not a single american citizen has been charged with anything related to russian collusion. not one person. not michael flynn, roger stone, george papadopoulos, paul manafort, carter page, donald trump. many of these people have half their lives ruined by the mueller investigation. some could die in prison. not one of them colluded with russia. people on tv have been lying to you. they'll deny it now. they will tell you this wase always about trump's taxes or some foreign real estate deal or hush money he paid to a girlfriend. that is a crock. this investigation was always,wi from day one, about collusion with russia, about butchering this country.or they told us that for years. we have the tape. >> what makes you believe that he has more indictments? >> because he hasn't addressed the issues related to criminal conspiracy as well as any
9:07 pm
individual -- >> criminal conspiracy involving the russians? >> yes. >> that scenario, you know something about. that investigation was developing while you were still on the job. >> it was, in terms of looking at what was goinger on with the russians and whether or not persons were actively collaborating, colluding, cooperating, involved in a conspiracy or not. but also if there's going to be any member -- >> did you see enough at that stage to believe that theree wee now -- that would result in indictments once investigated? >> t i thought at the time there was going to be individuals who were going to have issues with the department of justice. >> tucker: that was a former o cia director, one of countless retired intel officials you see parading across your screen every night, all of them paid by msnbc or cnn, to tow the party line, all of them no better. they are lying. it's a habit made and picked up years ago.

members of congress did the same. the big one among a thousand examples, here's tennessee's estate: telling us that most of the trump family is bound for prison prison. >> they're getting closer to knowing the truth will come out, there was activities with the trump campaign and russia and releasing those taxes, guiding them to the states and localities where they came from. some of that was jared kushner's responsibility. some of it was donald jr. i think you will probably see indictments of both of those people. >> tucker: thathe van is a sitting member of congress. he's wearing a necktie. he's on television. people believed him. why wouldn't they? is an authority figure in this country, and he was lying. so richard blumenthal, who were sent down mike spent years bringing shame to the state of connecticut, o his mock certainy ms and many, many other occasions. >> there are indictments in this president's future. they're coming. whether they are after his presidency or during it, obviously, thef department of
9:09 pm
justice cannot indict a sitting president. >> tucker: of course there was howard dean. the former governor of vermont. dean was also, if you can remember, that far back to 2004, a presidential candidate. at one point, look like he was going to be the nominee of the democratic party. he went on to run the dnc. he's on television constantly. people have long whispered that howard dean is not all there. they say he yelled so much because he can't think very well. they claim he is so slow it takes them an hour to have to watch 60 minutes. you don't want to believe any of that is true. it sounds cruel. d on the other hand, they might be right. >> we believe we may well have a criminal and the m white house d the next step is going to be the trump family itself. i expect there is a good likelihood jared kushner will be indicted for money laundering and we will see how far the russian involvement goes. this is serious business. the people are undermining our democracy. >> tucker: he was never serious business. another lie. it was ludicrous.
9:10 pm
it was always ludicrous. no matter how much evidence you muster, you will never convince congressman eric swalwell of that. he is the original collusion truth here. there is no element of the russia conspiracy that eric swalwell, who's been on the show many time, it isn't eager to believe and magnify. he really ought to have an overnight radio show on ams radio, he will be able to tell us how puting. secretly runs the bilderberg. cnn loves eric swalwell. for years, they've broadcast uncritically at virtually every letter lunatics claim swalwell has ever made. here's one example. and moreking more clear that donald trump was part of a criminal campaign, criminal court transition, now presides over a criminal presidency. >> tucker: a criminal presidency. what's criminal is what just happened. we have lived through three separate investigations into russia collusion, not just mueller, but the committee in

the house and the committee and the senate. they spent years looking ms. t in the end, they found nothing. but during that time, this country, the country they are supposed to be running, has become obviously and measurably worse. suicide, drug audis are up. life expectancy is falling. the borders are a mess. we have no clue who lives in this country, to the tune of millions of people. maybe tens of millions. we have no idea! the schools are a joke. you wouldn't send your school down my kids to them if you had a choice. infrastructure is crumbling. hundreds of thousands of americans sleep outside every night. so what are our leaders talking about? what are they spend their time by stressing over? what do they get tv bookings to rant about? some irrelevant meeting with a minor russian lawyer in trump tower three years ago. the new york city subway barely works. thee largest city in the united states smells like garbage. people are fleeing it. what is bill de blasio, the mayor, talking about? 's pardon from the president? let's hope it comes very soon. the mueller investigation is over as of tonight but the record remains. for the sake of this country,

let's clean it up quickly and move on. chris hahn is a ready host and former staff ear to senator chuck schumer. i want to congratulate you, you are one of the people who said, i am very concerned that there was criminal collusion between the trump campaign and russia. i think that's a fair concern. whenever our leaders tell us out to another country, we have to be upset. tonight we know that's not true, no one was indicted, unequivocally, no one indicted. how are you celebrating this great news? >> [laughs] no one wanted to see the president indicted for collusion with a foreign power. >> tucker: of course not. >> there are no more indictments coming, i think we have to read the report and find out what happened. i don't think anybody is owed an apology based on the trump role where you don't apologize for anything ever. >> tucker: i'm not invoking the trump role. i amr. invoking common sense, decency, and logic. people allege a crime, no crime wasri found, unless you are accusing mueller of somehow being in trump's camp were not on the level.
9:14 pm
i don't think anyone thinks that. no crime was found. our country, if there is a crime -- we indict you, if we can, we don't. that is straightforward. your attorney, you know that. we now know -- >> absolutely. >> tucker: why aren't we celebrating? i'm confused. >> everybody wantsre to read the report before they celebrate anything. ii know i want to read the report. >> tucker: i want to read it, too. >> the attorney general releases the report forthwith. it's something that needs to be released immediately to the public barring anything that needs to be redacted. >> tucker: you'll find no disagreement here. >> i know youo want to see it. i think he will join me right now and saying that we should all see the same time. >> tucker: okay, i would like to see a lot of other documents, like the fisa warrants that about the obama administration to spy on american citizens. on the bases of water? why can't we see that? >> there were 20 russians that were indicted by the special

counsel. >> tucker: code, i don't care, they are russians. i'm talking about americans. >> that may have stemmed from the fisa warrants. >> tucker: hold on. i don't care about the u.s. government treating foreign citizens. i don't care on the border, i don't o care if they are russian agents. i care about american citizens. the point of our government is to protect them. american citizens have their civil liberties violated by the obama administration's on the basis of what? we don't know. why can't i see those fisa requests? >> i think this request might be part of the report. definitely part of the underlying documentation of this report. i think we should see it. i think the president should declassify everything in this report today. >> tucker: i'm with you on that. and those fisa warrants. >> declassify everything. we need everything to the public right now so>>if we e can see te underlying documentation behind mueller's report. >> tucker: we are having a vigorous agreement. i want to get to -- we only played the tip of the cable news
9:16 pm
iceberg, the tape we have of people predicting indictments of every member of the trump family, calling trump a criminal, calling him treasonous, betrayed his country, he's going to go to jail. all those people were lying. wrong, at best. should a member of congress whose alleged a crime -- why would they allege it if they didn't know? these are guys that are sitting on the freaking house until it committee who have access to any information they want, they oversee our intel community! how can i get away with saying that? theyarn it's not true and keep their seats? how does that work exactly? >> how did they do that when the republicans were investigating hillary over benghazi and her emails and there were no charges? >> tucker: okay, the republicans are bad -- -- >> i don't remember people calling for them to resign. no one was calling for them to resign. >> tucker: i am now asking you a simple question. i'm not here to defend the republicans. i attacked them all the time, trust me, and a mean it when i
9:17 pm
do. i want to know how anybody of any party who stood up and alleged a crime, especially someone with access to the highest level of information on the house intel committee, proven wrong, proven a liar, can hold his seat after that? i don't understand! how canan you do that? >> that is up to the people -- the american people who put them in there. that is something for their opponents to challenge them in their election. that is what we live in. we live in a democracy. he won might it be helpful -->>o okay, no. maybe there's a thing called honor d and decency. if i get cut -- >> no. >> tucker: oh oh, okay. what you are saying is the chairman of the house ointelligence committee, one of the most powerful members of congress in washington, most powerful people in this country is now a known liar, and reckless serial liar, and we are okay with him running the house intelligence committee? adam schiff of burbank,mm california, ? >> i think that would b
9:18 pm
congressman adam schiff said was there might be some counterintelligence issues we need to lookok at. they may not have been criminal. we don't know what kind of influence the president is under due to his financial dealings. it might be criminal, it might not cry to the level of indictment but it might be something americans should be concerned about and should understand. that is why we need to see the entire report. >> tucker:if adam schiff accused the president and his kids and me -- and me on camera -- ever working for the russian government. now we knowno that's not true. if you are doing that, you would be indicted. none of us were. how can he have that -- >> hold on. >> tucker: how can he have the role of the chairman of the intel committee? i'm serious! >> you are suggesting that everything he suggested was a criminal action that required an indictment.
9:19 pm
that is not necessarily what he said. there are a lot of things that need to be understood by the american people and that is what this report might show us. >> tucker: i believe -- we'll see. thank you very much, chris, good to see you. michael tracy is an independent journalist who is already on the road covering the presidential race and he joins us tonight from an undisclosed location. michael tracy, you are one of the very few people who has noted this weird nexus between news outlets and retired intelligence officials. it seems like a very unhealthy arrangement to me. do you think it is? >> i think it's unhealthy and i think it will contribute to a fundamental inability for the media to self reflect on what it got so horrendously wrong throughout this episode. johnt brennan, a colleague of yours in a different network, that my dis- incentivize you to do a thorough audit of the practices which leded to such a false impression being conveyed
9:20 pm
across the airwaves about what the story actually entailed. you know, this past weekend marked the anniversary of the iraq invasion. since then, all the top media promoters of that invasion have ascended to high levels of power and influence. i could name a couple, many of whom, frankly, appear on this not work on occasion. >> tucker: you are right. one of them is a national security advisor of the united states right now. so yes. >> if i could speak to president trump i would ask them, why are you -- why did you appoint john bolton, one of the main promoters of the iraq war to be the members of your security team when you said it was a disaster? that such aggression. the point is, the strong-russia story is a media failure of probable magnitude. less death, thankfully. but just as much total inability -- total factual indiscretion. i think something similar is going to happen where the people who were proven decisively
9:21 pm
wrong, and were proven to have deceived the american people for two plus years, now approaching three years, they are not going tor pay any price. they are not going to face any consequences. if you or i or normal people feel that their drug miserably, they would probably, i don't know, get demoted, fired, they would suffer some kind of reputation all consequence but not so for the media elites who have been leading the charge of the story, who had a lot of influence on the security state officials, like andrewho mccabe, who launched one of the investigations into at the fbi. listen to andrew mccabe on his recent book to her. it almost sounds like he's a devoted reader of david from at the atlantic, he worked for george w. bush, he helped coin the axis of evil phrase, he was a leading advocate for the iraq war, a leading advocate of russia gate. a lot of crossover. andrew mccabe feels like he was just scrolling through twitter, like, reading
9:22 pm
"the new york times," didn't have any privileged information, that we know of, that led him to launch these unprecedented investigations into the democracy of the president. >> tucker: i want to finish out the segment with this question. you got right to it. i think it was yesterday, former fbi director jim comey wrote an op-ed in which he basically predicted what we found out tonight. no indictments, no collusion. so the obvious suggestion is, jim comey had some kind of inside source of most beloved investigation. shouldn't that shake the faith that all of us have in our institutions? >> well, knowing that james comey that the institution for so long has it shaken the faves of many people. i don't think it's going to make a huge difference. let me just say one more thing, tucker, i'm having to disclose my location, its new hampshire, where the presidential candidates are campaigning. the democratic presidential candidates have totally be clown lofor themselves these issues. in large part they have adopted
9:23 pm
the most maximalist interpretation of what the trump-russia conspiracy consisted of, irrespective of skeptics saying, let's exercise caution, let's not lead to conclusions. the one exception, the candidate i'm covering, tulsi gabbard, who juston last week said somethingo the effect of, the people who have been calling trump russia's puppet have actually distracted from the reality that trump is actually contradicted much of his campaign rhetoric and taken aggressive actions toward russia, and that is what democrats should have been emphasizing this entire time, rather than -- >> tucker: you are totally right. >> this conspiracy rabbit hole. >> tucker: for her to say that as an active real bravery right now. thank you very much for joining us tonight. good to see you. >> thanks. >> tucker: probably nobody has covered the story more closely than kimberley strassel of "the wall street journal" and we are happy to haveou her on tonit to help make sense of what we know now. what do you think we know now?
9:24 pm
from the limited data that we have at this point, what do you conclude? >> a couple of things that somep of your prior guests have pointed. one, the important thing is, ith is done. two years on, that matters for a couple of reasons, because it's not just the fact that it removes this cloud hanging over washington, but it also enables the president to do a lot of things that he's been constrained from doing. every time he would go and contemplate a certain action, they would say, you can do that. you are obstructing the mueller probe. that is removed and that will change the dynamic in d.c. that is one. two, no indictments, and obviously, mollie hemingway went through why that's important. three, another thing that has been overlooked, attorney general bill barr sent a letter to congress and he pointed out, as he's required to do under a special council guidelines, that he had no cause at any point to overrule any of mueller's decisions in the end. so that puts to bed the other
9:25 pm
vast conspiracy theory going around the last couple of years that somehow mueller was never going to be able to complete his work, obviously, political interference, somebody -- remember everyone saying we needed to have legislation in congress to protect the special counsel? he was never in any risk of that. basically, that barr transmission proves that. it also suggests, reading the tea leaves,le that that mueller reported a straight up and bill barr didn't feel like he had to intervene on anything. >> tucker: how much -- i'm so struck -- an acute number of these conspiracy theories it seemed to bubble up from social media, twitter especiall especially. then emerge from the mouths of elected officials, supposedly responsible people. how brokend and complex is this conspiracy world that a lot of the left lives in right now? >> you make a great point. we should have been done with this, we should have finished
9:26 pm
all of this and had a conclusion more than a year ago when our congressional committees come after months and months of diligent work, admitted that they could find no evidence to support any of the claims that people have made on the other side. if you step back from that, we also should have gone from the work that robert mueller was doing himself. court case after court case, dealing with the central figures here, none of which in any of the filings, and the end of the court documents, had any reference tohe any of the main collusion conspiracy theories that have been out there. if anyone had taken a deep breath, this would have all been very obvious sometime ago. but there is an entire industry, and imagine some congressmen, you mentioned the media, that haveat an interest in riling ths up every day as a way to delegitimize this presidency, and arches of presidency can but his agenda as well, too, which is a very clever way of doing it. you say they guard the very top is corrupt and therefore everything he is doing is
9:27 pm
corrupt. there is a political advantage for them having dullness all these years. >> tucker: they have preset advantage. kimberley strassel, thank you so much. good to see you. one of roger stone's associates from to, jerome corsi, released a statement aboutf the end of te mueller probe. "i feel vindicated, they offered me a plea deal which i thought was fraudulent. ii did not knowingly and willfully give them information i knew was false. the fact is, i wasn't going to lie to keep myself out of prison. i did nothing wrong, and it is clear i did nothing wrong, or they would have prosecuted me." he was threatened and pressured to sign a deal that would have sent him to prison. he refused. in the end, he was never charged at all. what does that tell you about this investigation? that fact right there. ♪ fox news alert, for those of you just joining us, the mueller report has been delivered. the investigation is over. the report assets with the attorney general. there are no indictments for
9:28 pm
collusion or anything else coming next. democrats have already pivoted, congressman adam schiff previously set collusion was a certain thing. he knew it. the evidence was hiding in plain sight. that was a lie. now he says it doesn't matter anymore. more investigations are coming no matter what. >> one of the great many unanswered questions, and if they are not answered, then we are going to have to answer them, we have to find the truth. >> tucker: oh, the truth. three investigations, two years, not enough. so what is the new plan for the democratic party going forward? chief national correspondent ed henry joins us to not. >> tucker, good to see you. as has been a situation where you had adam schiff, eric swalwell, you mention them before, had visions of collusion, obstruction, may be plums dancing in their heads for a couple of years now, and it
9:29 pm
hasn't been there. they missed a key point, which is follow the facts. i may be to his credit, we need to see the details of the report, may be mueller actually followed the facts. this is an important point. you and i were on together in mid-january. remember the night that robert mueller, to his great credit, came forward and said that buzzfeed story was wrong, that claimed that president trump had directed michael cohen to lie to congress. that was critical because cnn and others ran with that buzzfeed report and said, if true, this could lead to impeachment. robert mueller was saying, it's not true. secondly, i think it exposed not just, as he played that card from adam schiff and other democrats who got ahead of the facts, , and off a lot of people in our business who got way ahead of the facts. >> tucker: you have to wonder -- that's right. not for the first time. we had a guest a moment ago,
9:30 pm
michael treacy, who pointed out that there were similar support for the idea that there are weapons of mass instructions and a rock. i don't want to be litigated. by the way, i believe that there were there weren't. you have to wonder, no one was ever sidelined after that. will there be reassessments and news organizations after tonight? >> i think you know the answer to that, wages it's highly unlikely, even though there should be a lot of questions about all this. but i think the president and his allies have been out there attacking robert mueller and maybe now they are going to do soul-searching and say, that work for them politically. but in robert mueller's report clearing the president, again, if, they will they will all of a sudden say, hey, we like bob mueller, we like this report. he followed the facts. i h think all sites here have bn jumping ahead of this, tucker, when in fact maybe everybody should have taken a breath. you've been urging us for a long
9:31 pm
time. there was this hysteria about everything associated with russia, and where their contacts between tribal officials and russia? yes. we've seen that, papadopoulos and others. he ended up spending a week in a few days in jail. nothing to be trifled with. his life was essentially destroyed. carter page, who had james comey and all these other people, when you talk about weapons of mass distraction, what i think about is, how many people in the government did we trust, did they know that they were weapons of mass distraction, how many people in this fbi and justice department did we all think we could trust that, if they are going g to get a fisa warranty d they are going to cereal an american citizen, boy, they will have the facts, tucker. >> tucker: let me ask you this,ve have you heard anything about pardons? specifically of roger stone. it looks like he could spend the rest of his life in prison for a process crime that would not have arisen without this investigation that already turn
9:32 pm
out to be pointless. have you heard anyone talk about that? >> i hear people talk outside the white house very clearly that the president has been advised to let this investigation play out before he discusses pardons or does anything. i think based on the conversations i've had, i don't want to get ahead of it, entirely possible that you could see a paul manafort, others come apart. i'm not saying they will be. and it's been discussed by the others outside the white house. what's been made clear to me and my reporting, this was a wise to the president, if you start talking about pardons and/or actually pardoning people before mueller is finished, it's obviously going to make it look like you are impeding the investigation. he didn't get ahead of it. by the way, another important point, how many times did we hear adam schiff and others say, we must pass this piece of legislation to protecter bob mueller? because president trump is going to fire him. it will be the second version of the saturday night massacre. none of that happened.
9:33 pm
yes, did the president tweet, that he stayed it was a witch hunt did he get in there and fight back? yes, he did. but he is entitled to do that. the first amendment protects us in our business and the president to be able to speak out. the bottom line is, robert mueller, you didn't need a piece of legislation to protect him. he was never fired. rosenstein was never fired. now we have the report. >> tucker: kind of an amazing day. ed henry, thank you very much.nk good to see you. we are drawing to not by former doj official. thank you very much. we just read a statement from jerome corsi who is a conservative writer around washington, author, who got, for very similar and racing thoughts, sucked this investigation he was sucked in by indictment by this beloved man investigation and he refused to admit to the crimes. he they never invited him. that seems fraudulently dominant fraudulent.
