president's trip, 2500 at the southern state, neilsen issuing this statement, the crisis at the border is worsening and dhs will do everything in its power. we will not stand idly by while congress fails to act yet again. all options are on the table. we will immediately redeployed hundreds of cvp personnel to the border to respond to this emergency. neilsen is reallocating 750 officers to border patrol immediately. the number could rise in the coming weeks. and waiting in mexico while claims play out. senior advisor jared kushner says this is the president putting pressure on people to act. >> one thing i love about the president is people hide from problems. when there's a problem he makes people confront the problem and is very creative about ways to find a solution. >> reporter: warnings of the economic toll closing the border

rob: the surge at this point do you think it is because of trump's tough talk on it? use it in the early bush years when it was bad in the early 2000s, legalized, talking about that. talking president on the border and building a wall. we see an exacerbation of this problem. >> it does contribute to it, presuming border patrols are implemented. it will be more difficult to come in. there is a feeling to get here before it is difficult. once they are here it will be difficult to remove them. the people who are making across the border. not being detained and deportation hearings are years down the road. you hope they will normalize when they see an operation.

jillian: people who are still active or working at the southern border, what do they say about what they need and what do they say about the rhetoric from the left? >> people doing the job want to do a job they need resources and i think the feeling is they are ponds. they are asked to do a job and it is difficult. without the reckless resource and support not much they can do so in a sense of frustration i don't see this -- i don't believe this to be a partisan issue. everybody in the united states should want, whether you are democrat or republican or otherwise. rob: the northern triangle countries like guatemala, the situation is getting much worse. the president says we need to cut off this money which in terms of our budget is not a tremendous amount of money. it is a lot of money but democrats say that is the stupidest thing you can do. to the president's point we have been sending money to these countries. what are we getting out of this money? if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, the stupidest thing i ever heard.

>> obviously there is an incentive for these countries to put people there. it is not going to solve the problem. rob: to write them a blank check, that is a simple thing to do. >> there has got to be repercussions for what they are doing or not doing or it will continue. jillian: what do you make of the caravans we have seen coming in waves, the latest one, all the people it could swell to? >> something border patrol hasn't seen and is getting incrementally larger and places tremendous strain on the infrastructure and medical care, anybody encountered by border patrol, anybody within ice or dhs, the medical care they get if they are inundated it will be

epidemic, was out of control, and kiki camarillo was murdered. the mexican authorities, state authorities covered up for the killers and reagan wouldn't have it. he shut the border down. we are not going to take them. jillian: talk about the drug epidemic and what we are dealing with now with opioids and all the drugs across the border. a problem happening back then is ringing true today in a different fashion. >> very much so. all these problems are driven by supply and demand, we demand the drugs in america, children being hurt and what is new, the new wrinkle today that donald trump is facing, we have been giving money to some central american countries to solve the drug problem. they defeated the drug narco dealers in their own country but in some cases the government is running the drug business.
