tuesday. up late wednesday night almost till midnight as border crossers. we took a red eye to san diego to get out there to see the president. i just landed about 70 minutes ago. if i fall asleep i apologize. pete: i saw someone bringing a suit to you so you had something to wear for the show. jedediah: he ran in full speed. [laughter] griff: this is what the job calls for. pete: you are doing work that no other journalist or reporter will do or has done. to your credit, hav have you gotten the real story at the border and you have a big interview. griff: president trump, i presume, wanted to speak to me and accepted our invitation because he knows we have covered the border so much. the story of this border is historical one because it isn't individual males from mexico like it was a decade ago. these numbers are unprecedented because of family units. having an impact on the fabric of america not just

the border line down on the south. i asked him about it take a listen. griff: mr. president, aside from the wall -- and i just a came from mcallen, texas, rio grand valley, they are getting hid hard from coast to coast. all the border patrol tell me in addition to the wall they need congress to roll their sleeves up. >> we can change these laws in 15 minutes. i could change them, catch and release. you know what that is democrats. you catch the person take their name and release them. okay? we're not doing that anymore. it's just a horrible thick. chain migration where you come in and have you have a lot of people come in with you. your mother, your father, your uncle, your aunt and your grand mother, your grandfather. your brothers and sisters. i mean, we had a case where somebody that, as you know, radical islam he ran somebody -- he ran many people down on the west side highway in new york. you know it well. griff: right. >> killed 8 people. wounded horribly injured 12 people. griff: sure. >> missing arms and legs.

and he has many people under chain migration. many of his relatives have come in with him. it's crazy. and then, of course, you have the lottery, visa lottery where they pick them and they pick people and these countries aren't giving us their finest. i'm not going to say they give us their worst, you know, why wouldn't they? get rid of these things. what what is happened, and have you seen it, mexico now for the first time is apprehending people and bringing them back. otherwise we're going to close up the border. griff: are any democrats going to work to you with change the law? >> well, we are going to find out. i have think they are getting hurt bad politically, once they get hurt badly politically they will work with us. mexico could be doing the jobs we're doing. mexico is now apprehending people at their southern border and wringing them back from honduras and guatemala, el salvador. stopping the mexicans from coming. in we have had a great four days. and it only started when i said we are going to close

the border. i will close out border or i will put the tariffs on the cars that they make and they send in to our country essentially tax-free. and i will put tariffs on there and then close the border after that if that doesn't work. griff: let's address that when would you put a tariff on it when your own agreement precludes that. >> we haven't finished our agreement yet. i will put it in there. because they, look, people are pouring through mexico. they come through other countries. i already stopped the money. we pay them over $500 million. honduras, guatemala, el salvador and others. we stop the money. some people would say oh you should give them more money. the democrats say give them more money. they are forming care advance to get people out. griff: i have been in them. >> they are not putting their best people in those caravans. forming caravans, putting people, in sending them up. you know it better than anybody. you know what's going on. griff: mr. president, is it time to call for a summit between yourself and the

president of honduras and el salvador. >> we don't need a summit. we have done well without the summit. they understand we are saving $550 million. and i respectfully tell them and thank them very much because for the last four days it has been great. see that stream drying up. they could stop them at their southern border. and you look at what is happening now, they pulled in 1500, 1,500 yesterday. brought them back. pulled in over a thousand gotten the number, but i understanding it's a lot. griff: where i was in rbg 14 straight days of 1,000 plus. this is what i want to address with you. they are releasing now, particularly the family units, to the public. in the fabric of the u.s., tens of thousands are being released and will continue. are we witnessing the second generation of daca that forming? >> no. we are witnessing people that are going to be brought out of country. the country is full. our system is full. we can't do it anymore. we go by this horrible

flores situation. you know, that decision is a horror show. we have to release after 20 days. we build big detention areas. but they fill up immediately. there has never been some people coming up. that's because they're gaming the system and the system has changed for the worse because of what happened with democrats and what they have done in terms of congress. so if we change the laws, it would be very easy. in the meantime, mexico. if they stop the people from coming. in we won't have a lot of people coming at the border. griff: news today ronald vitiello, 30 years on the job, why did you withdraw his nomination. >> we may go a different way. we may have to go a very tough way. we will see. ron is a good guy. i know him well. he has done a good job. we may just go a different way a little tougher. griff: tough question four since have you done so much on immigration and made it a central issue. we may end up by your administration's own projections up to 1 million undocumented immigrants added to the existing population. what does that say about your administration's

handling. >> i think what's happened i have proven to be right. if we were able to build the wall. now i have gotten the money for the wall and you take a look at this. i hope you are covering it because we have miles and miles of it being built right now, hundreds of miles are under construction and more importantly, they are under contract. i think 157 miles right now is under contract. they are getting yesterday to start. the rio grand we are doing a lot of work there that's where a lot of people come in. i have shown the people that i was right. i mean, this is what has been happening for a long time. it's been happening for a long time. they didn't even put down the numbers. they didn't used to put down the real numbers. you look at what's happened, in the old days they didn't mark down, they didn't say how many people were coming in. what we're doing is the gang members don't get in. if they do get in, ice is getting them out, the bad ones. we have a lot of bad ones, you know, that want to get in. and when you look at the caravans, they are come posed of people that i'msorry, t supposed to be coming into our country and we're stopping it. but what we'll be doing is

now our system is full. gang members say they are afraid. holding flags from their country. pete: griff, really well done. what was your take away. griff: big take away the president is committed to doing what the border patrol chiefs from coast to coast want most. that is not only to build a wall but to force washington, democrats and republicans, to roll up their sleeves and try and do something about these loopholes, the catch and release. because that is the central driving magnet that these people are coming from loan temperature was, guatemala and el salvador. until you do both, build a wall and close these loopholes, it's not going to get better until you do that the president is fully committed to doing that although he did say i said look, how about a summit. bring these countries together. he said we don't need it. >> i kind of like that answer. these summits do anything.

were you satisfied with the answer about the tariffs i don't know if you can -- i can put tariffs i don't know if you will be able to do that. were you satisfied with his response? griff: no. he said it's not a done deal it does in some ways, undermine his own trade agreement under the usmca new nafta deal you cannot tax 2.6 million from new cars coming from mexico. a provision have to work out. pete: talking about bringing their flags and don't bring their best. is there another daca coming is an important question. you bring kids here. they are not responsible for that what is their status going forward? a very important question. griff: we will get into that i can't wait until later to tell you what he had to say about biden. pete: there is more of that. speaking of biden, former vice president. he was in washington, d.c. yesterday talking to a labor union. of course, he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons from his perspective over the last week. and he referred to or at

i'm not sorry for anything i have ever done. i have never been disrespectful intentionally to a man or a woman. that's not the reputation i have had since i was in high school for god's sake. patty pete sorry, not sorry. jedediah: this footage was after the event. listen, you release this video on twit are and say you are going to be more mindful and respectful and then you went into the conference and cracked a couple of jokes. was that necessarily the best way to address this? that's the question how seriously does he need to respond in he came out. i thought what he released on twitter was quite good and seemed quite authentic to me. i don't know about making a joke about it so soon an. particularly the second joke. one joke about a gentleman and secondary joke about a child that sat a little uncomfortably me. whenever you make a joke about touching children that does not resonate well with a number of people. the question have upwards of 7 people who have come out and said joe biden touched me in a way that made me

tripping over themselves to bash the president. you just had beto o'rourke on the trail the day before yesterday saying that the president was similar to the third right. so is he a senate is i, a racist. et cetera, et cetera. that is going to fire up their base. if as you move into the general election setting the nominee of the democratic party is going to have to take on the president and how do those attacks resonate with, again, independents and middle of the country? democrats are going to turn out to vote. we know that the republican base is solid with president trump. so the question is how are these attacks going to resonate with independence and with sort of the squishy republicans who may not like president trump's style but they look at his policies and think pretty good. that's where democrats are really going to face the challenge. bashing trump is not going to be enough to win in 2020. they have got to have a policy and agenda. pete: does this prevent them from laying forward a positive agenda? how do they lay that forward? you are talking about the working man or working class or someone left behind. then you look at the jobs

numbers of this president. how does that narrative stick to them? >> well, that's -- i mean, that's the biggest challenge, right? they have got to continually keep their base fired up because that's a necessary requirement of 2020. but they also have to win over the independents in states that are going to matter, the rest 'belt states and that's where the challenge lies. believe me, if the agenda is solely bashing president trump, it's not going to work. but, even beyond that the challenge is, you know, contrasting with president trump a great economy and they are going to be proposing things like a green new deal and other things. it's going to be a challenge for democrats in 2020 for sure. pete: tom, coming out of the primary if you are talking about a green new deal. if you are talking about reparations. if you are talking about abog issue willing ice and those are planks in what you are talking about, how do you pivot to the general election and bring in that audience need eventually? >> well, we have -- this is how our process works. and the democrats are going to have to nominate someone who has the political skill

to leave some of the harsher rhetoric and sharper edges of policy debates behind and pivot and say, look, they are promoting an agenda that is for the working class. and whether that is authentic, whether that is real and how it compares to what president trump is offering is the question of 2020. i think it's going to be -- and it's going to be fought in basically seven states. most of them are in the midwest, ohio and where i'm at right now. pete: that's a two-step. if you can do that two step, then you have a chance at being president of the united states. if you can't, president trump could have a good opportunity in 2020. we will see. tom bevan, thank you very much, we appreciate it? >> all right, pete, thank you. pete: you got it trump vowing action on the southern border as democrats deny there is even a crisis. well now even a daca recipient sounding the alarm and says the president is right. he joins us coming up next. oh, hey jeff, i'm a car thief... what?! i'm here to steal your car because,

there is a humanitarian crisis happening that's causing a border security crisis that is driven by a policy crisis. coming must act and work with the president to fix this once and for all. unfortunately, they seem to ignore this issue. but i always say this: it takes two to tango. and fix border security in exchange for a dreamer solution. that's what we need to lead on. jedediah: hilario the president is often labeled anti-immigrant. you have illegal and legal immigration conflated by folks on the left who want to label him as anti-immigrant. as a daca recipient what is the response to labeling him anti-immigrant? >> well, you know, the president, in terms of daca community, he is compassionate towards the dreamers. he has proposed solutions to fix this once and for all. i think what you are seeing the president is, he is for immigration. is he for legal immigration. i think he just -- i think he cares very much so about the american people.

he wants to fix this broken immigration problem. but, unfortunately, congress and democrats don't want to work with him and it is sad because it's putting the american people and also the dreamers in jeopardy. griff: hilario support for president trump among hispanics is growing. in march 50%. why is he growing? >> i'm surprised it's not at 100 percent. here's why. the hispanic community values faith, family, and freedom. there is no other president or other party fighting for these values. when i look at the democratic party, they are against these values. they proudly, loudly lead on abortion, removing god from our lives, and also bringing socialism to our country. you know, we as hispanics, we must stand united in our values. we must vote. and represent those that are fighting for these values. and that is our president. that is the republican party. you know, we have great organizations like the rnc, like the rnha, lexit and

welcoming hispanics in with open arms. i toll the hispanic community don't vote on emotions vote on values you will see this president and party is the right choice. jedediah: some would argue that the hispanic community does not support border security or are not advocates for border security. when i speak with hispanics i find quite the opposite. they live in this country. they wants their family to be safe they care about human and drug trafficking. do you find it insulting that people immediately oftentimes on the left will say this is not an issue important to the hispanic community the issue of border security? >> well, the democratic party, when it comes to reaching out to the immigration -- or to the hispanic community, they lead on immigration and try to sell you that, you know, the republican party are against it. no, the republican party and this president is for immigration, but at the same time, we need to have sovereignty in this country. at the same time we need to also protect the migrants who make this long and dangerous journey who are

and the attorney general made the decision. he said no obstruction. so there is no collusion. there is no obstruction. there is no nothing. it's all a big hoax. and the democrats want to keep playing it because they have done a lousy job. they haven't governed well. again, that's why i'm here. the way they governed is the reason that i'm president. and we are doing a great job. so it's really up to the attorney general, whatever he wants to do. but everybody waited for the mueller report. then it turns out that there is no obstruction, no collusion. no anything now the rest suspect to the attorney general, schiff and nadler, they keep playing their games. they can't get off it. and they were very disappointed but it was a very easy decision. and these were not people that like donald trump. i called them the 13 angry democrats. these were people that were angry. they should have never been allowed to write about me. these were 13 angry people with hatred toward me. and then they added more. 17 or 18. and they all were angry at

donald trump. and they still came up with no collusion. very few people could that happen to. where they go through almost two years of nonsense, haters, total haters and they come up with no collusion? thank you very much. griff: thank you, mr. president. >> thank you. griff: finally did i stop talking after the second handshake. pete: classic griff move. you said shake the hand thank you very much. one more question. jedediah: by the way. griff: the biden comments were very fascinating. very honest answer. look, i might not have been here but for president obama and vice president biden had done better in trying to achieve the things the american people wanted. jedediah: this that may be my favorite answer he has ever given to a question. he didn't make it personal. he could have come out and made a sarcastic remark. he went through his entire record. he went through the economy and deregulation and went right to policy. he said look, this is the stuff i have done. if you guys had been doing this kind of stuff, maybe i hadn't gotten elected because your policies would have actually worked.

it was a home run answer. pete: great point. if the democrats want to go to the gutter and call him names which we saw them do yesterday and keep seeing them do. and he keeps pointing back at policy. he keeps talking about vets and veterans choice. rebuilding the military. crushing isis. renegotiating deals that have been terrible for america. it's really tough to argue against that. they are going to want to pull him into the gutter. the longer he stays on those issues, is he shooting from the high ground. jedediah: he does go into the high ground. it's a good lesson for him, too. to observe. sometimes you have to observe yourself. if you see and this you say wait a minute that actually works a lot better than climbing down with him. it does. pete: both work. is he a better counter puncher than they are. griff: guess what? we are not done. more of that interview coming up later. jedediah: we have headlines for you first though. new body cam video shows intense moments of a hostage standoff in georgia as two officers are hurt in the crossfire. products. state military passed a bill targeting the sale of cigarettes cigars. if the governor signs the bill it will take effect in october. and a bill in minnesota would give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. democrat led house passing the measure saying all immigrants are essential to communities critics say it encourages illegal behavior. the bill now goes to the republican held senate. pete? pete: thanks, griff. no voter i.d. law on the books in minnesota. there you go. many on the left still clinging to the trump collusion narrative despite the lack of evidence so far from the mueller report. jedediah: the media may be to blame as some headlines this week pushed a continuation of the story. pete: the "new york times" headline read some of mueller's team say the report was more damaging than barr revealed. another headline says, quote: limited information frustrated some on the mueller's team. jedediah: here to weigh in is james freeman assistant editor of the "wall street journal" editorial page and fox news contributor.

welcome. >> thanks, good to be here. jedediah: what do you make of the media's role at this stage of the game. >> disappointing and kind of surprising. i mean, i think we have all had an experience when you have a source that doesn't give you the straight story it generally makes you angry. if there is a good faith effort maybe you would forgive them. but, this basically two years of building up this story and we get to the end, and there is no collusion and, you would think there would be some maybe introspection on the part of the press. humility, trying to make it right. and they are kind of clinging to the narrative. jedediah: do you anticipate any change? say the full report comes out. verifies what barr has said. is this just going to continue this behavior? >> i think certainly people who want to cling to the belief in collusion or they like that message politically will look for items in the report that they can quote. but i think the statement

from barr was very direct. and it was quoting mueller. not just no collusion. no coordination between the trump campaign, team trump and the russians. i don't know how it can be any more straightforward. pete: you talk about good faith. they are impugning the motives of the a.g. this is representative hank johnson, democrat from georgia. he said a.g. barr may have obstructed justifiable. if it turns out he has obstructed justice by how he handled the mueller report, that will be a deep stain on his legacy. they are going after barr and the way he characterized the report. >> yeah. that's not obstruction. this is absurd. obstruction is destroying evidence, you know, intimidating witnesses. the fact that barr does not agree with them that there is obstruction or collusion is not obstruction. he is our duly appointed and senate confirmed attorney general. the justice department makes charging decision decisions. we have a constitutional

decision where the president runs our justice system. the executive branch i should say the justice department. i think people like to pretend that it's independent or maybe they just want certain results. but this claim of obstruction on the part of ours is absurd. jedediah: would it be odd for barr to report. knowing more details going to come out that would ruin his entire legacy and credibility. disucket that seem like an odd move for him? >> it's not just extremely ladder to believe on its own merits but the used that he would manages lead or lie about what was in the report and nobody involved would say anything. jedediah: right. >> wouldn't mueller, for example, want to say something now if his words were mischaracterized. pete: we know they are working hand in hand to make sure whatever isn't released is done so forth right reason. >> people should know and they probably do that you -- some of this material, grand jury testimony is illegal to disclose it there are

various reasons. of course, there are issues of intelligence sources and methods. there can be lots of reasons why the full report should not be out there. you also don't want to put out allegations that are not leading to some kind of charge. the justice department isn't sort of in the business of randomly smearing people that it's not charging. so, there are lots of good reasons and that's why the law does not require the full set of allegations to come out. what it requires. pete: if only it was about the law. >> there you go. jedediah: thanks so much. pete: thanks for your time. >> appreciate it. pete: freedom of religion is supposed to be a right of everyone in this country. why were so concerned when secretary of state mike pompeo said this. >> to say the remarkable history of the faith in this place and the work that our administration has done to make sure that this democracy in the middle east of this jewish state remain, i'm confident that the lord is at work here.

♪ ♪ pete: welcome back. 2020 democratic presidential candidate pete buttigieg facing backlash after questioning president trump's faith. pete: the candidate telling "u.s.a. today" quote i'm reluctant to comment on another person's faith, as he should be. but it would say it's hard to look at this president's actions and believe that they are the actions of somebody who believes in god. jedediah: here to respond is pastor robert jeffress a fox news contributor who has prayed with the president. welcome, first of all. >> thank you.

jedediah: what do you make of this comment by buttigieg about the president's faith. >> well, it's absolutely out landish for somebody to make a comment like that who has never had any interaction with the president and certainly has never prayed with him. like i have. and if you read this interview, buttigieg is objecting to the idea of president trump believes in god for two reasons. he says, first of all, president trump and conservative christians like me spend our time talking about things that jesus never talked about like abortion. pardon me? i think mayor pete better go back and read his bible. jesus said thou shalt not murder. jesus said it would be better for somebody to have a mill stone tied around his neck and thrown into the sea than harm a child. jesus did address the issue of abortion. but, buttigieg also said that trump isn't humble enough to believe in god. and, look, at a dinner not long ago, i was with president trump and he said to a group, he said, you

know, pastor jeffress says i'm not a perfect christian but i am a great leader. that's true. there are no perfect christians. we are all sinners who need a savior. as somebody said, god doesn't choose perfect people. he chooses people who are perfect for the job. and is there are tens of millions of christians like me who believe that president trump is perfect for the job. not of national sunday school teacher but a president of the united states. pete: king david certainly a good example of that speaking of israel, our own secretary of state did interview, talked about our commitment to the state of israel. listen to this. >> to say the remarkable history of the faith in this place, and the work that our administration has done to make sure that this democracy nut middle east, that this jewish state remains, i'm confident that the lord is at work here. pete: pastor, the "new york times" pounced right away. no secretary of state in recent decades has been as open and fervent plays pompeo about discussing christianity and foreign

policy in the same breath that has increasingly raised questions to the extent of which evangelical beliefs are influencing american diplomacy. how dare they, pastor? >> to the left it's the unpardonable sin that a conservative christian would allow his beliefs to in any way influence other parts of his life, including his policy. but i doubt the left objected when martin luther king jr. rightly allowed his christian faith to impact his views on civil rights. or for the christian abolitionist to allow their christian faith to cause them to eradicate slavery. let me say, pete, what's really going on here, the left cannot concede that god is at work using president trump to protect israel like he used queen esther 3,000 used ago. griff: pastor i want to jump in here a little bit and push back on you some because, of course, dr. king, of course was not the secretary of state now. do you believe there is a space for a secretary's religious beliefs to

coincide with policy making of an administration? >> look, there are sound geopolitical reasons apart from the bible to support israel. there are only reliable ally in the middle east. but i think it makes sense for us as a country, president trump to be on the side -- right side of history and of god on this issue. and, look, what's really going on here is the left, number one, hates israel. they believe in illegally occupying that land. secondly, they hate donald trump. they can't believe god would use trump in any significant way. and thirdly the left really hates god. they say they love god. but the god they serve is an imaginary god who loves abortion and hates israel. the true god, the god of scripture hates abortion and loves israel. that's the big difference. griff: pastor, thank you very much for your time this morning, we appreciate it. >> thank you. griff: president trump sounds the alarm on the national emergency at the

family units coming over. you bet i went across the country to speak to president trump about that. at some point we are all going to have to accept the fact that we have a situation that must be dealt with most call it a crisis. pete: after they deputized you yet in. [laughter] jedediah: not yet. griff: nope. i'm a reporter. jedediah: show us the interview. pete: what did you talk to the president about. griff: i talked to yo about the border and some other issues. griff: mr. president aside from the wall i just came from mcallen, texas, getting hit hard coast to coast. border patrol agents tell us they need congress to roll their sleeves up and change these laws. >> griff, we could change these laws in 15 minutes. i could change them catch and release. we know what that is, democrats. you catch the person. you take their anytime and release them. okay? we're not doing that anymore. it's just a horrible thing. chain migration where you come in and you have a lot of people come in with you. your mother, your father, your uncle, your aunt

grandfather. brothers, sisters. we had a case where somebody that, as you know, radical islam, he ran somebody -- he ran many people down on the west side highway in new york. you know it well. griff: right. >> killed 8 people. wounded, horribly injured 12 people. missing arms and legs. and he has many people under chain migration. many of his relatives have come in with him. it's crazy. and then, of course, you have the lottery, visa lottery. where they pick them and they pick people. and these countries aren't giving us their finest. okay? they're not giving us their finest. i will not say they give us their worse you know? why wouldn't they? we have to get rid of these things and we could have it so easy. what has happened, and you have seen it mexico apprehending people and bringing them back. otherwise, we are going to close up the border. griff: are any democrats willing to work with you to change the law. >> we will find out. i think they are getting

hurt bad politically. once they get hurt badly politically they will start working with us. in the meantime mexico could be doing the job we are doing. mexico is now apprehending people at their southern border and bringing them back to honduras or guatemala or wherever they come from, el salvador. they are stopping the mexicans from coming in. and we have had a great four days. and it only started when i said we are going to close the border. i will close the border or i will put the tariffs on the cars that they make and they send in to our country essentially tax-free. and i will put tariffs on there and then i will close the border after that if that doesn't work. griff: let's address that how would you put a tariff on it when your own agreement precludes that. >> we haven't finished our agreement yet. so i will put that in there. i'm going it put it in there. because if they -- look. people are pouring through mexico. they come from other countries. i already stopped the money. we pay them over $500 million, honduras, guatemala, el salvador. and others. we stop the money.

some people say you should give them more money. democrats say give them more money. they are forming caravans to get people out. griff: i have been in them. >> do you know what? they are ♪ putting their best people in those caravans. they are sending them up. you know better than anybody. you know what's going on. griff: mr. president, is it time to call for a summit between yourself and the president of mexico and guatemala and el salvador? >> we don't need a summit. we have done well without the summit. they understand we are saving $550 million. and i respectfully told and i thank him very much because for the last four days it's been great. you see that whole stream is drying up. they could stolen them at their southern border. and you look at what's happening now, they pulled in 1500, 1500 yesterday, they brought them back. they pulled in over a thousand the day before. over 1,000 the day before that today i haven't gotten a number but i understand it's a lot. griff: where i was in rbg 14 straight days of 1,000 plus. this is what i want to address with you.

they are releasing now, particularly the family units, to the public. in the fabric of the u.s., tens of thousands are being released and will continue. are we witnessing the second generation of daca forming? >> no. we are witnessing people that are going to be brought out of the country. the country is full. we have our -- our system is full. we can't do it anymore. we go by this horrible flores situation. you know, that decision is a horror show. we have to release after 20 days. and we built big detention areas. but they fill up immediately. there has never been so many people coming up. and that's because they are gaming the system. and the system has changed for the worse. because of what happened with democrats and what they have done in terms of congress. so, if we change the laws would be very easy. in the meantime, mexico, if they stop the people from coming, in we won't have a lot of the people coming at the border. griff: news today, your nominee for ice director ronald vitiello, 30 years on the job. why did you withdraw his nomination? >> because we may go a different way. we may have to go a very tough way. we will see.

ron is a good guy. i know him well. he has done a good job. we may just go a different way. a little bit tougher. griff: tough question for you. since have you done so much on immigration and made it a central issue. we may end up, by your administration's own projections. upwards of 1 million undocumented immigrants added to the existing population. what does that say about your administration's handling? >> i think what happened is i have proven to be right. if we were able to build a wall. now i have gotten the money for the wall. you take a look at this. i hope you are covering it because we have miles and miles of it being built right now. hundreds of miles are under construction and more importantly they are under contract. i think 157 miles right now is under contract. they are getting ready to start. the rio grande we are doing a lot of work there. that's where a lot of people come in. and i have shown the people that i was right. i mean, this is what has been happening for a long time. they didn't even put down the numbers. they didn't used to put down the real numbers. i mean, you look at what's happened. you know, in the old days

they didn't mark down and say how many people were coming. in what we are doing is the gang members don't get in. and, if they do get in, ice is getting them out. the bad ones. we have a lot of bad ones that want to get in. when you look at the caravans, they are composed of people, i'm sorry, they are not supposed to be coming into our country, and we are stopping it what we will be doing is now our system is full. and i told our people today, our system is full. we can't take anymore. the asylum is being scammed. the whole asylum system. you have gang members. tough people saying they are afraid to be in their country. they are not afraid. they will come up with flags. holding flags from the country. griff: interesting reaction i have gotten specifically from the contacts and people i have met in the border patrol have all been sending me texts and emails please tell the president we appreciate him because it's really been since the unaccompanied children crisis of 2014 that they have been under siege. and they see this president really getting behind him. whether it's that wall,

being built out in calexico, california or changing the laws and some other measures. jedediah: i appreciated that he gave mexico a little bit of credit here and said, you know what? i had threatened to shut the border. the last few days mexico has been on board and cracking down on illegal immigration. i think it's important to give credit where it's due and if he wants to forge that relationship and make it better he has to be able to acknowledge that they have in fact turned around and agreed to help out. pete: that's the way you address it you talk about closing the border and wall. mexico pass through country and don't do anything about it you have been in that caravan. you deserve this interview. fantastic job. you are right there all the way. have you watched mexico enable the caravan. his argument is we are going to put the screws to them. jedediah: right. griff: they need to address this. if they don't we will change what we do with usmca and the wall gets all the coverage, right? ultimately this is about amnesty and laws here that are still a magnet. he understands that. griff: it will be interesting to see whether or not he appoints an immigration border czar actually to handle this

because you are talking about very large. pete: i think he is the border czar. i get that but and may be. czars are fine. whatever. but ultimately has been laser-focused on this issue more than anybody else. jedediah: is he laser-focused on this issue. there is a huge gap between what he is doing and congress is doing. democrats are stepping up their attacks on president trump. take a listen to this montage. >> a president today, who is a racist; who is a sexist. what you did in this last election, man, we have cut our time in hell in half. >> the truth is, president trump is tearing the moral fabric of this country apart. >> when you are rich and guilty, than if you are poor and innocent. we have a moral crisis in this country. >> we march and we say we are not just resisting, we are insisting on a better

way forward. pete: yesterday was the al sharpton primary. everyone comes to al and says this is what i'm going to do according to your priorities, always calling trump names. one name they forgot, of course was patriot. which they would never say. when you ask democrats is president trump a patriot? they won't give you a straight answer ever. i don't know how this works for them. it works for their base. how does it work in the general? jedediah: it's a losing strategy for them. they are not talking about the issues. they are so busy talking about how trump is racist or anti-immigrant or whatever name they can come up with that they're not telling the american people what they can do to make their lives better. they are not talking about healthcare. they are not talking about jobs. they are not talking about taxes because what they are doing here is just attacking trump all the time and it's a lose lose lose. you can't win by running against something you run by running for something. pete: calling trump a racist you are calling everyone who supports him a racist. basically labeling the voters that you say you want. jedediah: right. pete: motives of people that support trump are not based in racism or sexism or

whateverrism you want to use. based on loving your country and borders should matter. when you impugn the motives you impugn the voter. griff: you talked to tom bevan in the last hour and he said it's not going to be enough. >> tripping over themselves to bash the president. you had beto o'rourke on the trail the day before yesterday saying that the president was similar to the third right. is he a nazi. that is going to fire up their base. the question is how are these attacks going to resonate with independence and squishy republicans who may not like president trump's style but they look at his policies and say the economy is good. bashing trump is not enough to win in 20206789 they have to have a policy and agenda. jedediah: the thing too here s. here the trump from many on the left is he will go on twitter and name call. i don't love that stuff he does either the truth is he this do the exact same thing. they get that room together and name call him. if you are advocating for stopping all that behavior. maybe come out and say do you know what? forget about president

trump. i'm going to talk about the issues. if you want to talk about him, talk about his policies and why these policies are wrong and your way is the better way. have some sort of positive message. everything out of the democrats' mouth seems so negative. griff: didn't beto say he was going to run an entirely positive campaign. pete: he did and then he compared the trump administration to the third right. buckle up 2020 is coming quick. 20 states taking the trump administration to court over border wall funding. and even nancy pelosi is suing. jedediah: mark morgan led the charge under president obama at the border and he is on deck. ♪ six months, six pushups ready.

walls work, infrastructures works. we need more wall. we need more manpower. >> at this point we need more resources, including more officers and agents along the border and in the interior. >> we are not prepared to deal with the amount of people, family units and children and now organized caravans. >> law enforcement and sheriffs updating president trump about the border during his visit to calexico, california. mark morgan, former border patrol chief under president obama joins us now. good morning, mark, what do you make of the president's visit? >> so it was outstanding, once again. as i watch, it was so important that they go to the border and what's key about this is that american people get to hear and see for themselves and listen to the experts. the chief patrol agent there, which i'm sure you met, gloria chavez, i know her. we work together when i was in the border patrol. look what she did. she laid it out. she talked about the wall. how the wall gives them a huge advantage. how it increases their situational awareness of everywhere that they have that wall. and it reduced assaults by

65% of the agents. and she went on and on about how this is a crisis and they are overwhelmed and american people hear directly from the experts. griff: mark, you worked for a democrat president and democrats are in absolutely resistance mode when it comes to claiming that there is a crisis at the border. but you know what border patrol chiefs tell me from the rbg sector all the way to gloria chavez in h el centro that they need in addition for the wall for these loopholes to get closed for congress to roll their sleeves up. is there any chance democrats will do that? >> i don't see it. in fact, i testified in front of the homeland security committee this week. and i laid out that same thing. there is two huge things. and the president, he hit it right on. he knows it because he has listened to experts. we have to fix the flores to reduce the cbp from having to release these individuals within 20 days. you have to fix cppra you eliminate catch and release.

congress could fix those two things in 15 minutes but they refuse to do what they should be doing. griff: the president was in calexico the first section of the new wall being built but 20 states are targeting, suing to block the president's funding as well. speaker nancy pelosi announcing a federal lawsuit, what do you make of this legal effort to stop the construction of the wall? >> look, it just continues. again, i use this phrase this week in my senate testimony and the sheriff of pima county, the largest border county along the southwest border he said this, too. he says anyone that continues and i said this, too. anybody who continues to refuse to admit that this is a crisis and we need the tools, including the wall, they are being intellectually dishonest to the american people. and that sheriff is right on and that's true. griff: you know what that sheriff talks about, too. is the impact beyond the border in to the internal part of the united states. a real threat. >> absolutely. you had a couple other sheriffs on there. and they are talking about

carolina college student in shock after daughter was murdered police say by the man she mistook for her uber driver. >> the perso person that murderd my daughter was a monster, right? what he did was -- i don't want anybody else to go through it as a parent. jedediah: 21-year-old -- that tragedy now calling attention to the dangers involved with ride-sharing apps. our next guest taking action with a new ride share safety act. south carolina state representative seth rose joins us now. representative that story about samantha josephson is absolutely terrifying. i myself ride share. this inspired to you actually come up with a samantha josephson ride share safety act. how will that help potentially situations like this and prevent them from happening? >> well, essentially i

represent the five points entertainment district where this occurred. in fact, i live a fourth of a mile from the curb that this incident took place where she was lured into the vehicle and so i felt it incumbent on me to look at south carolina law governing ride shares. one of the things i saw was illuminated signage is optional. i think it would be an important first step to allow someone requesting an uber to look at whether or not from a distance this is in fact an uber or a ride share. and so, that was one of the things that i discovered the light has beacon technology. this is being done in other markets. you request a uber. your phone will turn a color and the light on the ride share will tune the same color. if your phone is yellow you can see that the light is yellow. we still think this is the first step in determining whether it's a ride share but you need to still look at whether or not the license plate on your app. is matching. you need to ask the uber driver whether or not he

knows your name. he or she knows your name and so we think this is a first step in the process. it's not the end all, be all. no legislation is going to prevent this from happening but it's incumbent on us as good public officials to put our citizens' safety at paramount concern here. jedediah: police are actually saying that these people who are pretending to be uber drivers are trolling bars and clubs where people will be intoxicated and thinking straight to say let me check the license plate and make sure that's the car. i think that light feature is pivotal it connects your phone to that driver. i want to look at the incidents involving uber and lyft drivers. i was astounded by these statistics. january 2014 to august 201850 deaths, 95 alleged assaults. 375 alleged sexual assaults, 16 kings. when you hear these statistics is, this surprising to you because i have to say i ride share all the time. i'm obsessive about looking

at the license plate. i had no idea this was as big of a problem as it actually is. >> well, this is a relatively new industry. and that's why i think we can't let this tragedy happen without us taking some kind of action to look at our laws governing this. this isn't a colombia, south carolina issue. it's not a university of south carolina issue. this could happen at any city, town, state or university across the country. and i think this tragedy in and of itself will allow us to look at what we are doing from a safety perspective. i know from myself and my family, when i requesting a ride share, i'm going to be making sure i verify the license plate. i'm going to be asking the ride share driver if they know my name. jedediah: um-huh. >> i think an important first step is from a distance being able to determine whether, in fact, that may be your ride share. and that's where the bill that i have sponsored, which is bipartisan legislation would allow somebody from a distance, rather than getting arm's length of what could be a murderer, to determine that that may be the ride share, there is

additional steps that need to take place for everyone's safety. jedediah: lyft has not responded yet with a statement but uber did and they said quote since 2017 we have been working with local law enforcement to educate the public about how to afake ride share drivers. everyone at uber is devastated to hear about this unspeakable crime. we spoke with the university of south carolina president and will be partnering with the university to raise awareness on college campuses nationwide about this incredibly important issue. i think addressing college campuses is key. you wind out going out. out late. at those clubs and locations where people will be targeted by fake uber drivers with fake decals trying to lure people into their cars. >> absolutely. and as i said earlier, this isn't unique to columbia or a risk unique to columbia or the university of south carolina. in fact, i wrote a letter to the university of south carolina president and cced

[laughter] jedediah: joining us now former white house press secretary and american first action senior advisor sean spicer, welcome, sean. >> good morning, jed, how are you? jedediah: doing great. what do you make of biden joking around so close to when he issued the statement on twitter where he said i'm going to be more mindful and respectful of people's personal spaces. how did the joke fit you? >> i think it was ill suited. you can't on one hand say that you get it and then immediately afterwards joke about it. and joke about it twice. i think for so many women, it's -- and frankly so many men as well, it's offensive. here's why. when he made his apology, a, he says i wasn't sorry. he literally said i'm not sorry. i just am going to change my behavior because times have changed and then he blamed the right wing. number one, no one on the right wing is accused.

it's all democratic women who have been associated with number one. not coming from the right. number two, it's not that this behavior was ever acceptable. it might have been tolerated or overlooked. but the idea that he said times have changed. no, creepy was always creepy. and number three. is then to immediately go out and joke about it. i think really rings hollow to so many people who found it offensive. and to those who had an opportunity to show that he understood and heard their concerns. so it fell flat. pete: isn't this his only option though? he wants to run for president. >> no. pete: if you bend and apologize all the time you never get out of the gate. listen, i didn't intend it i'm not going to apologize. >> i think beto o'rourke robert francis owe o'rourke has been apologizing for 18, 19 days raised 17 million bucks. it's working. the democratic party has been the party of apology. apologize for everything your ancestors have done or

people lived next you have to done. biden made the mistake by not just going to the extreme that so many others have gone. to say he didn't acknowledge that his behavior at its root was inappropriate. right? he kept saying that times have changed. and i think at this moment in the democratic party, that's unacceptable. to say that like it's not your fault, you know, it's not my fault it's yours because you've changed. i think there is a lack of recognition and then as you saw in the preference afterwards, that he had that event yesterday, he came out and he was asked are you sorry for your behavior? and he said no, i'm not sorry. but i will change my behavior. it rings hollow as an attempt to say that you got the message. griff: sean, is he on the defensive. beto o'rourke, julian castro on the offensive, stepping up their attacks on president trump. particularly with regard to the wall. take a listen. >> when the president of the united states called mexican immigrants racist and criminals, he then went on

to call asylum seekers animals and infestation. i would note be surprised if within the third reich other human beings were described as an infestation. >> it's clear what he tried to do the president has tried to do is dehumanize to under rise these immigrants. that's very similar. whether that's to what congressman o'rourke was talking about or other regimes that try to dehumanize people. griff: sean, your reaction? >> with every day comes a new democrat jumping into the race. we are now upwards of something like 70 or 80 in the race. in doing so, there becomes a sprint to the extreme left to outdo each other. that's what's going on here. the way to get attention and rise in the polls is to be more extreme and nuts than the next individual who has gone before you. and that's what you are seeing here. they have got to get attention. they are in a crowded field. the only way to do it is to attack further for trump. it may work in the primary. it's going to kill them in the general. pete: great point. they have to do it if they

pete: did you go to war and get injured, we will take care of you. when you come home they try to rate how disabled you are, groups out there, vets groups, mostly, encourage vets to apply for every government benefit they can ever get. to me the ethos of service is i served my country because i love my country and i'm going to come home and start the next chapter of my life. and if i have got a chronic condition, mental, physical,

otherwise, the government better be there for me. otherwise, i don't want to be dependent if i don't have to be. pete: yesterday on this show i addressed the farlts of the v.a. and how the government-run healthcare system lends itself to abuse and ballooning bureaucracy. look at some of the numbers. over 379,000 full time employees at the v.a. over 1200 healthcare facilities including hospitals and clinics. .8 million vets using the v.a. there are 21 million vets in america. it's the second largest department in the federal government. it's twice the size of the marine corps. all those resources, yet veterans still wait too long to see a doctor. so should vets have control over their own healthcare? here to weigh in u.s. army veteran and former nypd officer and someone who has used the v.a. briefly dr. darrin porcher. doctor, thanks for being here this morning. >> thanks for having me. pete: thanks for serving our country, all of it. have you seen these numbers. the president is focused on giving veterans choice on healthcare. your reaction to the state of the v.a. right now. >> i mean, i understand it and i go back to 1990 when i first came off of active

duty it was somewhat of an assembly line. it's progressively gotten worse. when we look at the obama administration when we had general zeky that was since kicked out as a result of just continuing the same status quo, we now have the trump administration that has embraced veterans and is doing a lot more. so i understand the perspective of allowing veterans more choices. but the truth of the matter is we have to limit this at some point. the budget is just exploding and what's happening is we have groups that are actually pulling vets into getting additional services and i kind of equate this as a contrast and comparison when someone has a car accident, one of the first things they do is try to elevate what the adjustors is willing to give them. this is a very small component of the veterans. but unfortunately, that small component is actually drawing away from the larger population. pete: it's a really important conversation. it's complex. you and i both agree if you serve your country, have you mental health issues. post-traumatic stress, physically wounded, whatever it is the v.a. should be

there for you. the government should be there for you. but the mindset coming out of the military doesn't need to be let me get every benefit i can get forever. ultimately that's how -- here is some growth in the v.a. budget. we have some numbers. the budget in 2007 was $72 billion. it's now $100 billion more today with about the same number of vets and the projections are the number of vets will go down unless there is a large war. so if you are looking at exploding expensions and costs but what's the problem? >> i think we need a quality control faction that oversees what the v.a. is doing. because this assembly line process is not working. we can throw money out the window and it's not doing anything. we need qualified and capable people to oversee what's taking place. pete: who is more qualified and capable than the vet themselves? you try command and control healthcare, you are never going to address the issues of every single vet. but a vet know what is they need or what they may need if they can't get it from a

v.a. facility. then empower them to go to a private provider. they love their v.a. and great v.a. hospitals then stay there isn't it common sense to say let the veteran choose where they go? >> i agree with that to a certain point. because oftentimes we don't want to -- we don't want to take a situation where someone injures their elbow and send them to the orthopedic surgeon for the new york yankees. it needs to be something consistent with the budgetary constraints we have in play. that's just not happening. pete: the disability claims side, the ratings side which is what is such a sticky issue there are a lot of guys coming out of the service as you mentioned who are injured and get a rating 10%, 20%, 50% disabled i claimed i have no rating. i haven't been to the v.a. if i wanted to get a high disability rating, i probably could, based on minor injuries and other things i sustained in 12 years in the military and multiple deployments. what's your advice to vets as they approach the option moving into the next chapter of their life? >> we spoke about this off set. one of the things i know as well as you know, i hated

going -- i felt the sense of worry ethos look, i'm better than that now, we do have people that do need the care. pete: 100 percent. >> goes back to we as military members, we feel that we can get around this as best as possible. and i say that to say this: if you have an injury by all means, you should be treated. but if you don't have an injury, don't go with the contrast and comparison of the person that had a car accident, that's looking to elevate it for the adjustor because you are pulling from the general population. we need to have qualified and capable people both healthcare professionals and military vets that can come together and coalesce on a system that actually works, whereas we are not exceeding that ceiling and expenses just keep going up and up. pete: good stuff. doctor, thanks for your time. >> great to see you, pete. pete: great to see you as always. president trump sounding the alarm on the crisis at the border. our own griff jenkins goes one-on-one with the president coming up next. don't tell your mother.

these numbers, family units are unprecedented. and president trump made immigration the centerpiece of his campaign. it is the signature issue of his administration. and i asked him, specifically, about the big picture, his handling of it, among other things. take a listen. griff: tough question for you. since you have done so much on immigration and made it a central issue, we may end up, by your administration's own projections upwards of a million undocumented immigrants added to the existing population. what does that say about your administration's handling. >> i think what happened is i have proven to be right. if we were able to build the wall, now i have gotten the money for the wall. and you take a look at this. i hope you are covering it because we have miles and miles of it being built right now. hundreds of miles are under construction and more importantly, they are under contract. i think 157 miles right now is under contract. they are getting ready to start. the rio grande we are doing a lot of work there that's where a lot of people come

in. i have shown the people this is right. it's been happening for a long time. they didn't even put down the numbers. they didn't used to put down the real numbers. i mean, you look at what's happened. what we're doing is the gang members don't get in. if they do get in, ice is getting them out, the bad ones. we have a lot of bad ones, you know, that want to get in. and when you look at the caravans, they are composeed of people that i'm sorry, but they are not supposed to be coming into our country and we're stopping it. but what we'll be doing is now our system is full. gang members say they ar the awhole asylum is gang members, tough people saying they are afraid to be in their country. they are not afraid. and come up with flags, holding flags from their country. griff: the president in calexico, california, is that true first part of the wall built there 30 feet high. we have a lot more of that

interview. he had a lot of important things to say coming up later. pete: what is the border patrol saying about the new sections of wall that are being built? >> well, the border patrol chief, gloria chavez in that area el centro sector says it is undeniably effective. has produced results that she has long needed in both stopping illegal crossing and narcotics smuggling as well as assaults on her agents there which was a problem prior to the construction of that wall. >> we have montage of border officials talking about the border security. take a listen. >> we are very appreciative of this wall. these men and women out here in this area two miles were experiencing a high number of assaults and use of force incidents. this was prior though this wall being built. just here in these two miles our assaults have dropped by 65%. >> each of us have experienced crimes committed by people in this country illegally. i want to take this

opportunity to thank this president for doing the right thing and standing up for law enforcement in this country. anyone who would suggest that we do not have a crisis on our southern border is being intellectually dishonest to the point of being dishonest with malice. pete: i'm waiting for one president running for president to go down to the border and talk to those folks. watching your coverage, crawling through thorns and brush to -- these agents do it every single night because they believe that if you have a country, you must have a border. someone has to enforce that border, otherwise, it's open season. jedediah: for me this is the most important part of this whole debate is hearing from the men and women who work down there. because then it's not political. you know, you can hate president trump and not want to hear what he has to say about it or be a democrat and say oh well i don't care. but when you are listening to people who for them this is not about politics. this is their job. they are trying to secure the border. they care deeply about the safety and security of americans. and that is their job. they are telling you this is working. this is not working. this is what we need.

that is an an absolutely pivotal piece for this whole discussion for me as we go through the debate and democrats saying manufactured crisis. guess what you have people on the border working there trying to do their jobs saying it's not manufactured. it's real. pete: challenge on the left mantra no person can be illegal. the mindset of open borders has infected that party. the idea of borders is so 20th, 19th century to them. that's why they point fingers at this president. griff: one of the points i was making we have some coming now. the numbers are so large that they cannot hold them in the rio grande day valley sector. only hold 3300. they have more than 6,000. thousand come every night. they can't process them. releasing them. tens of thousands of imgrantsdz are being released into the communities with a summons to come to court. many of whom will not and so it's not just a border problem. it's the entire fabric of the nation. i asked president obama's former border patrol chief mark morgan about it here is what he had to say. >> it was so important that they go to the border and

what's key about there is that american people get to hear and see for themselves and listen to the exmerits about how this is a crisis and they are overwhelmed. they are sheriffs and they are talking about the damage. 400 miles into the interior united states whether you are in ohio, whether you are in new york every city in this country industry barred city. what happens in the southwest border impacts us everywhere in this country. pete: griff, great interview with the president. had you more though. of course, the 2020 election is upon us with the primary happening amongst democrats you had a chance to ask him about that as well. griff: i asked him about joe biden. he ramped up his rhetoric against president trump. president trump responded in a very interesting way. listen. >> vice president biden seems to be escalating words with you. first on twitter. now he said that you are a tragedy and two acts. your reaction? >> we have the greatest economy in the history of our country. best job numbers we have ever had.

more people working in the united states than ever before: the regulations are cut lower than they have ever been. i mean, we have more -- we have done more regulation-cutting than any administration whether it's four years or eight years. and this country is doing well. we are rocking. the military is taking care of. the vets are in the best shape they have ever been in. we have choice now for the vets, which they have been trying to get, as you know, for 45 years unsuccessfully. and, you know, to him i just hey, part of the reason i'm here is because of him and president obama. if they did a good job, i probably wouldn't be president. what else do you have to say? jedediah: fantastic answer. pete: great answer. jedediah: he went through his policy and a lot of times you get into the gutter with the name calling. everybody does it politics is a dirty game. the fact he came back and said listen, this is what i have done and accomplished to help people, and, listen, if you guys had done this, joe, president obama, if you had done, this guess what? maybe i wouldn't have been elected. you didn't do it. you didn't fulfill the

promises people wanted i did and this is how it's working i thought it was a brilliant answer. pete: was it biden said tragedy in two acts? trump got elected in 2016 and second tragedy is going to get reelected in 2020? is that what he is alluding to. griff: jedediah, to your point president trump came out of that primary wallet republicans attacking each other. jedediah: attacking him. >> now you have a president also running on his record. he knows i'm a washington reporter. i can't resist campaign 2020 question. but he gave me not a personal attack. and of course president trump will continue to attack people. that's his style. is he now running on his record. >> you see, president trump, this stuff, this is what works. you look like the bigger person. you just do. if you are not attacking people personally you always look like the bigger person. we have got some good stuff. we have headlines for you. the trump administration is reportedly toll designate iran's revolution guard corps as a terrorist group.

[applause] jedediah: first time label military a terrorist organization. the announcement could come as soon as monday. the administration has not yet commented remember 10-year-old girl killed in road rage shooting. joshua gonzalez shot summer brown outside are her family's arizona home. >> i want him to feel my pain, my anger. i want him to live with that because we have to live with seeing our daughter dying in front of us. jedediah: authorities say gonzalez followed the family after their vehicle cut him off. he is being held on a 1-million-dollar bond. a federal judge halts high capacity gun magazine sales in california a week after he ruled banning those magazines unconstitutional. the judge issuing a stay on his own ruling as it goes through the appeals process. the judge found california's ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds violates the second amendment.

to see these tax returns. >> now, remember when richard nixon wanted to have the head of the irs look at the tax returns of thinks enemies list? the answer was no. we should not be violating anybody's privacy. and the idea that the democrats want to look at these tax returns is no particular reason for that add to that the reason they want to talk about trump's tax returns is they don't want to talk about your tax returns. the democrats are putting together a series of tax increase proposals. they have been campaigning on raising taxes on energy, gasoline taxes. taxes on electricity. tax -- more taxes on your income. on your wages. on products that you buy. this is all coming, if they ever get the house and the presidency back and they are working on it in the house. they don't want to talk about that. they want to talk about their tax hikes. they want to talk about this. pete: that's fair. at the same time, this is all about trump. they want to find one nugget or one thing they can use against him.

this is a guy who said i was a businessman. the tax code is what it is. i have used it to my add van teenage because i want to pay as little taxes as possible because i like to keep my money. this is really about continuing attacks on the president. >> it's not only the president's. every small businessman in america who thinks some day i might run for office because self-employed people, proprietorship, subchapter s corporations, your personal taxes and your business taxes are the same thing. it's the same write up that you put in. so when they say oh we want to look at your business, they are just opening you up and getting you like a fish. if all did you was become a professor and have elected jobs in government, you have a pretty boring tax returns if you have been in the private sector the tax returns get complicated. they will say you are a crook. pete: that's great point. big differentiation there. bernie sanders, who wants to be president, has yet to release his tax returns. he was asked about it.

[laughter] >> was that an appropriate response and what does it mean for a potential 2020 run? here to debate patrice, senior policy analyst at the independent women's forum and rochelle richy. welcome to you both. >> thank you, good morning. jedediah: rochelle, i want to start with you, how did that joke hit you? i thought it was an odd way for him to deal with that particularly the second joke that he made about touching the kid. it didn't strike me as funny or particularly helpful to him. >> you know, jedediah, i think it's really frustrating that we have started to weaponize sexual misconduct and harassment when it comes to politics.

we only talk about a very serious issue when someone is running for office. when someone is about to be confirmed for a supreme court justice. obviously we saw that during the kavanaugh hearings and we are seeing it now with former vice president joe biden. the comments that he made, however, i think he apologized for it and then he turns around and he goes and he stands on stage and he makes a joke of it and this is just not a laughing matter when you are making women feel uncomfortable. when you are having inappropriate physical contact with them. and i think that he did himself a disservice in that he kind of started the story up all over again. so here we are this morning talking about it again when before we could have just let it die and move on. jedediah: did he apologize after. i think that joking struck many as very odd. patrice, i want to ask you about this selective presumption of innocence. you saw folks on the left like alyssa milano, for example in hollywood going right after kavanaugh immediately. uncorroborated,

unsubstantiated allegations. everyone divided he was guilty in second one. she then turned around and backed up joe biden and said he is a great guy. i'm wondering who are we supposed to believe instantly and which men are we supposed to criminalize on day one? is there some sort of rule here i didn't get that memo? >> you know, jedediah, i don't think there is a rule. there is selectivity in who is considered given the presumption of innocence and who is given the presumption of guilt. and sadly, for those who are republicans and conservatives, they are assumed to be guilty. you know the big irony here though is vice president biden at the time was a big supporter of president obama's title 9 reforms that really changed the way accused people on college campuses were treated. the presumption of innocence was suspended and it was assumed that this person was guilty and that due process would also be suspended. and i think with the whole me too movement. part of the unintended consequence we are seeing here is that all of the sudden believe her or

believe the victim at all cost regardless of what happens to the accused and that is wrong. jedediah: do you think this is disqualifying for joe biden what happened? he is sort of laughing it off and, you know, i don't think that was a good move. is this a disqualifier? should people now say you know the excuse it was a different time and maybe behavioral norms are different not sufficient move him out of the way or accept his apology and accept him for who he is. >> that's a great question jedediah and i'm glad you asked it. actually i don't think this is going to influence people supporting joe biden. if you look at what has happened in our past election with, you know, people in currently in the white house, who have also been accused at that time by 23 women, who allegedly accused president trump of sexual misconduct or harassment in some form, i don't think that it's going to be an impact because we are still seeing men being elected into office, we are still seeing them keeping their jobs. you see what happens with the lieutenant governor in virginia. they are still in office.

even though they pass these allegations against them. unfortunately live i think sexual assault victims that our voice does not really matter. jedediah: patrice, final word from you on how candidates can best handle these circumstances when they arrive in terms of apologies or non-apologies or whatever they can do. >> you know what? number one, you have to acknowledge what's happened and certainly victims have the right to say their peace. it doesn't necessarily mean that they should automatically be believed unless there is some sort of investigation and there needs to be some evidence that's brought forward. i do want to make sure that we make very clear that just because of an allegation is made doesn't mean that someone's political career should hang in the balance unless something, you know, there is some sort of justification or some evidence that is brought forward to make that happen. and, you know, we have seen this too much in the past where the presumption is, you know, believe the victim at all costs. and that's the sacrifice of the presumption of innocence and due process. that is wrong and it does a disservice to our justice system.

collusion, okay. the famous word collusion. there is no obstruction because they put a decision and the attorney general made the decision. he said no obstruction. so there is no collusion. there is no obstruction. there is no nothing. it's all a big hoax. and the democrats want to keep playing it because they have done a lousy job. they haven't governed well. again, that's why i'm here. the way they governed is the reason that i'm president. and we are doing a great job. so it's really up to the attorney general, what are hwhatever hewants to do. pete: the clip we played before this was democrats all this week. if you summarize 400 pages and four pages. of course you are not going to include everything. what the american people wanted to know what's the bottom line upfront? and ultimately, whatever salacious details are in this mueller report don't add up to collusion or obstruction. that's what the attorney general laid out. we'll get more of it responsibly redacted but these collusion clingers

will stop at nothing to try to keep a narrative up that he is an illegitimate president. jedediah: i'm exhausted from this story. i'm sure people at home are exhausted, too. it seems that no matter what sound the democrats toe the same line. one thing if they had one agenda but thin then information came out that contradicted that and they changed their tune. it seems like they are committed to this narrative even if the full report comes out validates everything barr just said no collusion no, obstruction nothing to see except a few nuggets in there. >> sure, of course. jedediah: i'm exhausted if there is nothing there can we move on. griff: there is something there that we did not know about. it was psalmry. democrats shifting the story on to attorney general barr. because if there are as the democrats say glaring evidence of something that was overlooked that could have been summarized and should have been summarized it's going to be a problem for him and something we are going to see more of this report. he will put out as much as

he possibly legally can. pete: is it really going to be a problem. it will lead on cable networks for awhile. you talk about exhaustion. voters out there on the republican and democrat side so-called mueller report, russian collusion, all of that it doesn't register at all as an issue that people care about. this has been litigated. it's been obsessed over. now they are continue obsessing over it every moment they talk about this dead issue is a moment they are not taking the president on for whatever approach they want to take. so let them keep talking. i agree with you. i'm exhausted. jedediah: ironically an issue that does come up that's important is immigration. all those same democrats talking about collusion completely disregarding the topic of immigration and saying we don't need to do anything about it it's a manufactured crisis. the key is the democrats just are not in tune with how people are feeling about issues right now. they wanted the initial investigation. at some point, let it go. move onto the issues. pete: one democrat just one running for president got foward.

threatened the city back saying he won't be intimidated into paying. pete: so what happens next? our next guest says jussie deserves serious time behind bars. deroy murdock, contributing editor for national review online and fox news contributor joins us now. deroy, thanks for being here. >> good to see you guys. pete: what should happen next? >> what he needs to do next if he is smart is pay this $100,000 overtime which were triggered because of completely fake hoax. lies to police. sue him for trip pill damages $390,000. if this thing continues ultimately they should put the charges back back on him and tried and if he is convicted on this overwhelming evidence he has he ought to spend a lot of time behind bars. he needs to go to jail for what he did. go to prison. >> if you look at investigation by the numbers absolutely maddening. over two dodds police officers and detectives, hundreds of hours overtime. 50 plus search warrants and subpoenas. over 100 people interviewed. 35 police cameras used. i don't understand why he is

not rushing just for his own p.r. just to maintain his own brand, why is he not rushing to give some of that money back? does he view it as an admission of guilt? is that the issue? if that happened yeah he did it really guilty. still maintains his innocence and this thing -- i guess he believes his original story. ainsley: fascinating prosecutors will come down and say no he is not actually. >> one of the prosecutors in chicago said i do not believe is he innocent. kim foxx is the lead prosecutor in chicago. she said based on the facts and evidence this office believes they could prove him guilty. they don't believe he is innocent. they believe he sgt.. they think this brief internship he did with jesse jackson and forfeiting his bond that those two things satisfy punishment for what he did. >> is this an example simply then of double standard of justice? this is a famous guy who had access to political people who are able to get him a deal where he is not prosecuted? >> i think it unfortunately it completely overturns the basic american idea of equal justice under law. we don't have equal justice

under law. if this person's name were jussie jones or jussie smith i think he would be behind bars right now. jedediah: is there any hope for justice in this case? i know he is still under investigation for the federal mail fraud because of that letter that he allegedly sent to himself. but what when people look at this story. it's infuriating for them. they see this as green privilege. he had lot of money and fame and talked his way out of this through connections that the average person would not be able to do. is there any hope left for any justice here? >> if it turns out that he, in fact, sent that letter to himself with these racist homophobic threats then he could be hit with mail fraud, sending threats through the mail, that sort of thing. there are victims in this thing potentially. something like 2654 crimes that took place while this entire ridiculous hoax investigation was going on. that includes 20 murders. 134 criminal sexual assaults. 342 robberies. 288 aggravated batteries. the cops could have within investigating or possibly even investigating those crimes if jussie smollett didn't have them running around chasing figments of

pete: welcome back. a couple of quick headlines for you. maryland could soon raise the age to buy tobacco

products 18 to 21. if does exempt members of the military. state lawmakers passed a bill cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco and videotaping devices. if the governor passes the bill it will take effect in november. states can do what they want. a bill in minnesota would give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. democrat led house passes a measure saying all immigrants essential to the communities. it encourages illegal behavior. now the bill goes to the republican held senate. if republicans there can't hold the line on that, they should just give up their electoral certificates, in my opinion. jed, down to you. jedediah: thanks, pete. ask any parent about video games and you will likely hear countless stories about massive meltdowns when they tell their kids to shut them off. soon to be dad prince harry thinks it's such a problem that he called for the popular game fortnite to be banned. griff: how are games impacting kid's brains. here to break it down is a

clinical psychologist and founder of digital citizen academy. dr. sherman, thank you very much for joining us. jedediah: thanks to be here. >> happy to be here. thank you. griff: what do you of the prince's comments? >> i actually have to agree with him. it's really bold, obviously. is he feeling the consequences of it but, i think that from a standpoint of being someone that's been in this space for 15 years, it absolutely is taking over our families and our children's lives. something has to be done. jedediah: you know, doctor, i wrote a book about this #do not disturb because i was so bothered by what these addictions to video gaming to social media to technology was doing to children. can you speak a little bit about detox centers. popping up all over the country to deal with. on children in terms of their attention span restlessness. sleepnessness related to video games in particular. >> i actually recommend your

book all the time. so i appreciate. jedediah: thank you. >> you are right on this area. it's a great read for everyone. but i do think that patience arparentsare seeing what i see clinically technologically induced adhd. it's not actually a real phenomenon in terms of like the brain rewiring but its impact is specifically from overuse. so parents can take away the devices for a couple of months, couple of weeks, even, you will see a different child in front of you. think, again, you go into that your book great. i talk about it in my book unplugged. so important the parents realize the impact of anxiety and depression is caused by. this. griff: as a parent two of teenage daughters you get quite a reaction when you try and take it back. how are parents supposed to deal with that. >> this is such a silent hidden example what parents are going through. images of broken controllers, holes in the wall. audio recordings from parents. you will see a parent midstream into that.

you get dopamine push and brain information they're getting so excited about and you walk in and you literally are saying turn it off. take it off. or you shut down the power and you are going to get an extreme reaction that i think parents are surprised with. but it's no different than pulling a drug away from an addict. jedediah: you know when you look at the chemical dopamine in the brain. subjects have shown that video games give you more dopamine than food less than nic stein and other drugs. i know these video games in particular are designed to get you addicted. they discover psychology. if your children is using these games and you decide you want to let them use it in moderation, can that be done or it impossible to defeat the agenda of these video game creators that really want you to get addicted. the more you play the more money they make and game thrives. >> the question is how do we parent in this era you? are pitting it right on the head? it's really difficult to pull it back. if you look at the graphic

that you are talking about those statistics. the only one that isn't a substance that you bring into your body is technology. and it actually higher than the other one. there are things can you do. there is important things. the first one is set the rules and boundaries when you are not playing. that's so important you are not going to have a good conversation with your child while they are in the middle of a game. griff: let me ask you a problem not only about kids adults. addiction to social media, nbc "wall street journal" poll survey says 70% use social media one time a day. 82% say it wastes our time. 61% say it spreads unfair attacks and riewrmts. 57% say it divides us. 55% say it spreads lies and falsehoods. what do you make of our addiction to social media? >> i think we have, this is a social media era. there is a love-hate relationship with what social media brings to us. unfortunately i believe that it raises our anxiety and depression and so we end up

getting looped back in more and more because people in real life don't want to hang out with us when we are unhappy or anxious. so it makes us go back on to our online relationships and so it's a really double edged sword with social media. >> so many skill sets, also. we can probably both go on along this topic forever. so many skill sets young people communication skills. i think it's really important for parents to have these conversations with kids about how to do basic things like have a face-to-face conversation with someone when those skill sets are not being learned because so much is happening via technology. i want to thank you for your input. we really appreciate it. griff: thank you. >> thank you. griff: president trump sounding the alarm on the national emergency at the border. more of my one-on-one with president trump at the top of the hour. stay tuned ♪ we weren't born to follow ♪ come on and get up off your feet ♪ ♪

hikes. jedediah: for the third straight year president trump decides not to attend the annual white house correspondence dinner. president trump: it's too negative i like positive things. >> ♪ i'm back on the road again ♪ pete: he's back from the road and griff jenkins fresh off the border. griff: we did take a bi-coastal trip from the woods of mcallen, texas where we went to the border patrol and were close and personal to what they have to go through, stretched thin each and every day all the way to california where president trump was talking to border officials there but it was quite a haul and we've had very little sleep, producer a.j. hall and i like that movie smoky and the bandit, we were racing coast to coast but we did it and it's because this issue matters. pete: i'm quite convinced that nobody works harder in

television. you spend a lot of time away from your family, you go to different countries in precarious situations but you do it because you want to bring the real story to our viewers. jedediah: and you manage to have your eyes open like no sleep. you don't get tired. i'm like what? pete: after the show he's going to work out. we have a full bill of health. he got a goodnights sleep. jedediah: i'll be like three- quarters of the way through my nap while he's pedal ing that bike. griff: here is the thing it's not about me. it's about the president. that's why i did it and he has chosen to lead from the beginning back to the campaign on the issue of immigration and the border, what is now undeniable a crisis. this is part of my conversation with the president about the border, listen. mr. president, aside from the wall and i just came from mcallen, texas, rio grande valley they're getting hit so hard from coast to coastal of the border chiefs tell me in addition to the wall they need

congress to roll their sleeves up. president trump: we could change these laws in 15 minutes, change them to catch and release you know what that is, democrats. you catch the person you take their name and you release them okay? and we're not doing that any more, and it's just a horrible thing. chain migration where you come people come in with you, your mother, father, uncle, your aunt, grandmother, your grandfather, brothers and sisters. we had a case where somebody that, as you know, radical islam , he ran somebody, he ran many people down on the west side highway in new york. you know it well. griff: right. president trump: killed eight people, wounded and horribly injured 12 people missing arms and legs, and he has many people under chain migration many relatives have come in with him. it's crazy and then of course you have the lottery. visa lottery where they pick them and they pick people and these countries aren't giving us their finest okay? they're not giving us their

finest. i won't say they give us their worst but why wouldn't they? so we have to get rid of these things and we can have it so easy and what has happened and you've seen it is mexico now for the first time is apprehending people and bringing them back and this is otherwise we're going to close up the border. griff: are any democrats going to work with you? president trump: well we're going to find out. i think they are getting hurt badly politically and then they will start working with us. in the meantime, mexico is doing a job that we could be doing, but mexico is now apprehending people at their southern border and they're bringing them back to honor guatemala or wherever they come from, el salvador and also stopping the mexicans from coming in and we've had a great four days and it only started when i said we're going to close the border and i will close the border or i'll put the tariffs on the cars they make and they send into our country essentially tax free and i'll put tariffs on there and close the border if that doesn't work. griff: let's address that how would you put a tariff on it

when your own agreement precludes that. president trump: we haven't finished our agreement yet so i'm going to put it in there because if they, look, people are pouring through mexico. they come from other countries i already stopped the money. we pay them over $500 million, honduras, guatemala, el salvador and others. we stop the money. some people would say oh, you should give them more money, democrats say give them more money. they're forming caravans to get people out. griff: i've been in them. president trump: there's people in those caravans okay? but they're forming caravans putting people in sending them up. you know it better than anybody, you know what's going on. griff: so mr. president is it time to call for a summit between yourself, the president of mexico, honduras, guatemala, elections? president trump: i think we've done very well without the summit, they understand we stop saving $550 million and i respectfully told and i thank him very much because for the last four days its been great. you see that whole stream is drying up they could stop them

at their southern border, and you look at what's happening now , they pulled in 1,500 yesterday, they brought them back, they pulled in over 1,000 the day before, over 1,000 the day before that and today i haven't gotten a number but i understand it's a lot. griff: where i was in rgv, 14 straight days, of 1,000 plus, this is what i want to address of you. they're releasing now, particularly family units to the public in the fabric of the u.s. , tens of thousands are being released and will continue are we witnessing the second generation of daca forming? president trump: no we're witnessing people that are going to be brought out of the country the country is full. our system is full. we can't do it any more. we go by this horrible flores situation that decision, we have to release after 20 days, and we built big detention areas but they fill up immediately. there's never been so many people coming up and that's because they are gaming the system and the system has

changed for the worst because of what happened with democrats and what they've done in terms of congress so we change the laws would be very easy but in the meantime, mexico if they stop the people from coming in, we won't have a lot of people coming at the border. griff: news today your nominee for i.c.e. director, 30 years on the job why did you withdraw his nomination? president trump: we may have to go a very tough way and we're going to see. ron is a good guy, i know him well he's done a good job but we may just go a different way, a little bit tougher. griff: tough question for you. since you've done so much on immigration and made it a central issue, we may end up by your administration's own projections upwards of a million undocumented immigrants added to the existing population. what does that say about your administration? president trump: well i think what happened is i've proven to be right. if we were able to build the wall now i've got the money for the wall and you take a look at this i hope you're covering it because we have miles and miles of it being built right now. hundreds of miles are under construction and more importantly, they're under

contract, i think 157 miles right now is under contract, they're getting ready to start the rio grande we're doing a lot of work there that's where a lot of people come in, and i've shown the people that i was right, i mean, this is what's been happening for a long time. its been happening for a long time. they didn't even put down the numbers. they didn't used to put down the real numbers. you look at what's happened in the old days they didn't say how many people were coming in. what we're doing is the gang members don't get in and if they do get in i.c.e. is getting them out. the bad ones, we have a lot of bad ones that want to get in and when you look at the caravans, they're components of people that i'm sorry but they're not supposed to be coming into our country and we're stopping it but what we will be doing is now our system is full and i told our people today, our system is full. we can't take any more. the asylum is being scammed. the whole asylum system, and you have gang members, tough people saying they're afraid to be in their country. and then they come up with flags

, holding flags from their country. griff: so watch the takeaway from my conversation is really the importance to see how mexico continues to either cooperate and help stop the numbers, or not. the interior minister of mexico went to hear speak in washington and you can expect as many as 700,000 central american families. pete: it seems there was a good first step four days or so the president referenced but you've got to watch because they said that before, i feel like i've heard before mexico will do something about this. if they don't then the ability to close the border or take more drastic measures is there. i think the president might be criticized for saying the country is full. i think what he's saying is our system is full and totally overwhelmed so as a result these are not just immigrants. these are illegal immigrants, most of which claim to not be legitimate and as a result they are released because their system can't control it and then they stay and that's the problem that continues.

jedediah: so president trump at the border talking to you talking about this key issue of border security what to do about it and while he's doing that, i keep wondering what has democrat s been up to? well the 2020 democrats have decided that they're going to step up their attacks on the president. take a listen to this. >> a president today who is a racist, who is a sexist. what you did in this last election, we cut our time and hell in half. >> the truth is president trump is tearing the moral fabric of this country apart. >> when you're rich and guilty then if you're poor and innocent , we have a moral crisis in this country. >> we march and we say we are not just resisting, we are insisting on a better way forward. jedediah: this is the national action network convention and it reads to me as really desperate honestly. i mean, when you don't have your own ideas to put forward, you start picking on the other guy

and that's what keeps happening and i think voters are starting to realize, hey, democrats listen you've been talking about investigations, collusion and now you're talking about how the president is racist and a whole bunch of other slurs, but what are we actually going to do for us? you have to come forward with your own ideas in order to get elected and i don't know if they've processed that as yet. pete: amy can rhyme. she's created millions of jobs creating manufacturing, giving veterans choice, chinese trade deals destroying isis, support for israel, supreme court justices when you look at what's happened over the last two and a half years they eventually have to talk about that. jedediah: and how do you run against an economy doing well boy proposing the exact policies that the would put that economy backward? that's kind of a -- pete: you assume the electorate is dumb. but they can't see the numbers. jedediah: it's not about dumb or smart you got money in your pocket or you don't, you put food on the table for your family or you can't so people are living day-to-day and life

dating back to 1953 when the data was first consistently reported. pete: here to discuss is stuart varney from the fox business network. jedediah: welcome. stuart: how is he doing? he's doing very well the trump growth agenda is working it appears to me that we've returned to widespread prosperity, but let's carry this forward for a second. those friday jobs numbers suggest and convince me that there is no recession on the horizon. now for the last six months weave all worried about maybe there's a downturn going on but those numbers suggest no that's not going to happen. we're going to rebound in the spring probably head by the housing market because mortgage rates have fallen sharply and i think you'll get a rebound in the spring so no recession on the horizon. second point. the job market is absolutely on fire. 19 6,000 jobs created last month , that's a strong number, and you look at the firing rate, now that sounds technical but

the lay off rate, there is such a thing it's called initial jobless claims forget that it's the firing rate, it's at a 49- year low. jedediah: wow. stuart: that's because you've got a workforce, you want to keep that workforce, because you can't find new workers and that's a very big deal. there's no recession, job market on fire, and we have a stock market rally that is enriching 55 million people with 401 (k)s, 35 million people with an ira, and heaven knows how many other private pension plans you've got a great situation here. griff: we've got to go back to where we started this the lowest unemployment rate of any president since they started leland:s make sure we've got that right, because he's going to claim that and a lot of people are going to say that he's making it up. stuart: your two years from the trump presidency the average unemployment rate after two years, 4.1% go back to previous presidents at the same stage of their presidency, with president obama, it was 9.5% okay understand that he was coming

out of the great recession i've got that but bush 43, 5.4%, clinton 6.4% there you have president trump at 4.1 how is he doing? he's doing very well thank you very much. the trump growth agenda absolutely works. jedediah: democrats have to run against this stuart and figure out a way to take these positive statistics every day and democrats now propose what socialism as an anticdote to prosperity? stuart: if the democrats win in 2020 this is all over. you can kiss goodbye to prosperity and growth and they will raise taxes, they will spend like crazy, run up the debt even more than it is already, they will kill this economy. please, don't do it. jedediah: [laughter] stuart: i'm a refugee from socialism and i came to america in the 1970s i don't like it and i don't want to see that come here and if it does come here we've got a real problem on our

hands. pete: stuart it appears that investors in wall street agree with you because there was a poll that came out recently investors asked whether they thought trump was likely to win 71% said they believe he will be re-elected in 2020 is that because they hope he is or they're looking at the field saying this looks good? stuart: no they hope he is. there would be no doubt that is a poll of 171 financial professionals on wall street, hedge owners that kind of thing. do you think he's going to win? yes he's going to win say 70% of course they say that and they know that the alternative might be bernie sanders socialistic, elizabeth warren, the hater of banks, the hater of wall street, they don't want that. no, they're talking up their book. they want president trump. griff: talking up their book. i'm going to go straight up capital it's greed and that is obviously the socialistic would undo the deregulation of the president brought forth which gave us this. is there room in a second term for president trump to further the deregulation to even grow

more? stuart: yes, i think there is. i think there's room for further tax cuts. i'm not sure what kind of tax cuts you'd get, difficult to cut income taxes more, but i think that's on the cards for a second term, and there's certainly room for cutting a lot more red tape and we are bound up in red tape, even after two years of president trump you've still got a lot of it. cut through it, mr. president let's go. look what you want to do is un leash the great american engine, which is capitalism. dynamic market capitalism, individual liberty. it works for heaven sake. i get fired up about it. jedediah: you do. griff: stuart varney, thank you so much i was getting sleepy but now i'm wide awake. as the 2020 democratic field continues to grow so do their identity politics but is rhetoric like this really the way they win the white house we debate it next, listen. >> our country will never truly

so, apologizing for something like saying all lives matter, we're talking about making that a plank of your platform is that , is this winning for the democrats? >> well again one of the things that democrats need to do is pull out their base, pull out people who are interested in these issues. we know that in order to win, we need large, african american support, so of course, people are going to talk about issues that speak to african americans that speak to the debt that this country owes african americans, to the activism that needs to happen in order to make things more equitable so i think it is a winning strategy and the right thing to do to talk about in justices that are still visit ed upon. pete: rob, jason is going right at it. what do you think about being a key issue to get the black vote out? >> i think repiration being a key issue is just a way they are trying to buy the black vote. listen when you look at all of these candidates, beto o'rourke

apologizing, when kamala harris isn't black enough, and this is a real article that was written, you will see that the identity politics on the left have gone absolutely insane, and i really do think that it's because they really do not have a really good issue to stand on. they're trying to buy black votes. pete: jason the sins of our past are well known. no one is arguing that slavery was ever a good thing. we've litigated that for years trying to repair our country, bring us together and stop the division is going back demanding that people pay money for sins of for fathers does that really move our country forward in any meaningful way? >> i think it does if you owe me $5 then you pay me my money. pete: but who owes you? so that's the country. who owes you? >> here is the thing, pete. >> there's nobody that owes you

how did i do in that interview with the president? >> i thought you did great. i mean you asked some pretty great questions there. i thought the president had really good answers as well and highlights constantly the president the failure of the democrats to assist him in getting anything done on the border. i mean, griff he can't do it himself. his this is not a monarchy it's a constitutional republic. pete: dan he's listening to the folks on the ground if you're a secret service agent what you're doing you want your boss to be aware of same with border patrol agents here is what some of the border patrol agents said around the president yesterday. >> we're very appreciative of this wall. these men and women out here in this area of two miles were experiencing a high number of assaults and use of force incident. this was prior to this wall being built. >> each of us have experienced crimes that are committed by people in our country illegally and i just want to take this opportunity to thank this president for doing the right thing and standing up for law

enforcement in this country. pete: dan that brave woman is the chief of that sector she knows what she's talking about. >> yeah, pete this is a really, i'm happy you asked this question because this is astonishing the left we've ed rollins heard it from them all the time, they will say well we have to take advice from the experts. okay, fair enough i'm open to hearing what scientists have to say certainly, but when you have experts, i mean pete, literally experts, people who are there on the ground, not only studying "the situation" at the border, but living it every day, saying listen, this border helped and here is why. assaults are down. it legal crossings are down. drug running is down. no, no, let's not listen to those experts let's listen to political experts who have to run for office on the democrat ticket next time. it is so hypocritical and utterly absurd it defies common sense they continue to stand by this walls don't work. pete: but they will they absolutely will.

well griff got a chance to ask the president also about democrats attacking bill barr over the summary of the mueller report here is what he had to say. president trump: it's all a big hoax and the democrats want to keep playing it because they've done a lousy job. they haven't governed well, again, that's why i'm here. the way they governed is the reason that i'm president, and we are doing a great job, so it's really up to the attorney general, whatever he wants to do pete: will they ever take them at their word when will they stop? jedediah: does this ever end, dan does the democratic reaction to this ever come to an end? >> no it doesn't and this is the focus of my second book and here is the untold story of what's going on here okay? anyone who studied this knew collusion was a hoax from day one the evidence was right in front of our eye. the real question now is was obstruction in the investigation into obstruction a hoax too? in other words guys what was robert mueller doing for 675 days? he gets a preview of the text,

the infamous strzok text with a lead investigator says in the text if i thought there was any there, in other words the lead investigator knows this whole thing is a hoax. robert mueller is reading this and he knows in july of 2017 this is my whole premise for this book. he knows this thing is a hoax, so why not come out, say listen, we found no evidence of collusion, let's let the country move on. they needed something else, they needed another myth, a fairytale so they invented an obstruction charge and that's what mueller was doing for 600 days to keep this thing open to attack donald trump politically. there's no case there, obstruction is a joke. it's a bigger hoax than collusion. griff: so dan are democrats now in their criticism of barr for allegedly omitting glaring evidence are they setting up an attack on mueller, or going after barr? >> this was, no, of course they're going after barr because the democrats haven't read the

constitution. they don't seem to understand how the three branches of government work. they keep saying ridiculous things like bill barr is the hand picked selection of president trump. has there been an attorney general that was not a hand picked selection of the president? i'm just asking out there for the audience. was there been one hand selected from the justice league? that's how this works. the president picks the attorney general, the senate confirms them. the democrats have not read the constitution recently but i set it up that way for a reason, that hand picked line is making any of barr's decisions from this point on good, bad, or in different, the democrats will paint them as political because the president picks the attorney general. it is a political attack and shame on mueller for not making a decision on his ridiculous obstruction charge. he punted to barr, knowing barr wrote that memo about how ridiculous obstruction was before he was picked, he knew that, and mueller makes it look political. it's really sad. jedediah: also if barr had said

saying that he's an under valued stock, and maybe he's capable of doing lots of good things but friday was not a good day. jedediah: see i think he just knew he was going to get a pass. you had alyssa milano who went full scene ahead against kavanaugh, decided he was guilty and now, defending joe biden a lot of people out there saying well that's just joe being joe and letting it go and i think the democrats know there is a separate set of rules for them and this presumption of innocence applies to them, but does not apply to people on the right. >> well remember, the first two women who surfaced went out of their way to say look this wasn't sexual, but it made me feel uncomfortable he got in my personal space so they had right from the beginning said this was significantly different than the rest of what the me too movement was saying, so they had already opened up that possibility and he finally took advantage of it on wednesday and thursday but again, mocking it on friday, i don't think that was the right move to make, but look, let's step back for just a minute. he had some strengths and the question is going to be whether

he can use those strengths to maintain his position. he is leading in the real clear politics average by seven point points over all the rest of the field and he has pretty good bases of support, moderate democrats people who say they are less liberal, union members. he's got in the poll 44% among african american democrats, which are a huge block particularly in nevada and south carolina two of the first four primary states in the contest. griff: carl, when if vice president gets into this whole thing, does biden need something more to make a splash to really move past this when he finally announces? >> well, i think he needs to demonstrate strength and to demonstrate strength means to be true to who you are, he, i think , has a lane available of him saying i'm a traditional democrat so i won't go out promise you free everything. i'm going to be a responsible democrat. my number one priority is not medicare for all. my number one priority is fixing

and strengthening the affordable care act and then maybe there is a sister soldier, moment you saw earlier this year, he said something nice about mike pence, and got blasted by the democratic left. maybe he should say something nice about a republican get blasted by the democratic left and have the soldier, moment saying wait a minute if we'll heal this country we have to work together and maybe it's good for the each respective party to cast not your political on ways to work across party lines and heal our country and that might be a powerful message even within the democratic primary particularly since you've got so many people out on the fringe on the far left who got a much different attitude about it. jedediah: karl, if any republican politic politician, had behaved the way he behaved and those videos were out there i don't care what you want to call it but it was odd interject s of people's personal space if you had rand paul on tape or someone coming out

pete: welcome back. well all week long in our spring cleaning series we learned how to organize our hopes and now it's time to clear out all the junk you don't need any more. griff: but the big question is what should you sell and what should you donate? jedediah: here to help is lifestyle expert now one of my favorite things to do is to clean house. this is like what i do to have an exciting saturday so tell us where we start. griff: way cool. jedediah: no joke i'm not kidding. >> just clear out you have clothes that maybe your kids don't fit into any more it's a really great time to just spruce up for spring, so these are actually my son's clothes that are too small for him, and the

thing is like i've seen like a bag of all clothes sell for like $10. if you want to, you can go ahead and do that but i'd take them all, put them in a garbage bag and donate it to -- pete: the whole thing? >> just drop it off they have donation bins at the supermarket parking lot, churches, it's really great. >> really easy to do and it goes to people that really need it. jedediah: right. >> these are work dresses that i have i've worn them a few types they're not designer and really not going to sell at all so these also would just be in the donation pile. i mean you're not really going to get the resale value of these , so again it's probably better off to just take them all put them in a plastic garbage bag and then donate it. these are actually, i wore them once and special occasion dresses and shoes are probably things that will actually sell

again, so there are sites like ebay where you can actually take a picture of them, put them online and then people will actually be looking for those because it's something you wear once, so you are looking for them. pete: i didn't know you're allowed to el segundo the shoes? >> these are just an example, [laughter] griff: like dorothy's slippers on ebay. >> also, i got a scarf 10 years ago and the note that i got as a thank you is still in there. i'm never going to wear it. i mean, i never worn it since that is something you can sell on ebay and make really good dollars on. so small appliances like a toaster oven you're really not going to get much money for so you do maybe want to donate those but larger appliances like refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers maybe upgrading your kitchen those are actually really great to sell on secondary markets post it on your facebook page but like the
