the intelligence sources and methods. shannon: when it does come out it will be a color-coded system in terms of the reductions but i want to move on to investing the invest investigating the investigators which he talked about and said he would be doing and the inspector general is doing this as well, has been doing it. his report according to the ag out in may or june, that was new information as well. what do you think his investigation will include? >> it is important to assure the public the investigation that took place was done in accordance with the law. there is no reason we shouldn't have that oversight of those conducting the fisa and other investigations. that is an important part of this process and that will be completed by may or june but what vladimir putin wants sitting in the kremlin's we will use this as part of political

fodder where we need to make sure we focus on countering and defending and deterring the russia threat. shannon: with that thought it does appear vladimir putin has won because look at the chaos that has ensued since the election. >> he injected a virus into our political system and there are some including my old boss, former director cia john brennan who in my view was a willful carrier of that virus and all he did was vladimir putin's bidding by in my view sparking greater partisanship with wild speculation about the facts. shannon: there is speculation on this we have to use that word, there are reports that ukraine claims it has evidence of wrongdoing by us democrats but the doj doesn't want it. what have you heard about this and what are your thoughts? >> i read the piece by john solomon, an outstanding

investigative journalist and it is an important issue. i think john was ringing alarm bells. this is twisted in ukraine's political system. there are issues in ukraine. we need to be in a mistrust but verify phase. i was looking with great concern at those who said there was evidence of collusion with the trump campaign when there was none. we need to be prudent in this case as well. shannon: if it would set up a situation where we have russia trying to sway the election in terms of the candidate they want in ukraine trying to sway the election in terms of the candidate they wanted. >> the world is interconnected and small so there could be ties in this case, some allegation
