of fallen u.s. soldiers. but you would be dead wrong. this week the legislature shot down a bill to expand tuition aid for the children of soldiers killed or disabled in the line of duty. a republican from the new york assembly, former candidate for mayor, joins us tonight. nicole, thank you for joining us. this is one of those tucks pa positions that is sickening when you think about it. did anybody in the legislature in new york note that you had just spent $27 million for foreign nationals to get tuition? >> we absolutely have. the last few days we've been doing all we can to expose this disfunction in new york statement and the priority being backwards. when you look at the fact that the state legislature, the democrats, voted to give $27 million to individuals who are in the country illegally, and they can even be in here as little as 30 days, take the g.e.d. and qualify for free college, city and state universities.

so it did pass in the state budget. what is more shocking is in the state budget, they also tried to strip $4.8 million for mental health services for our veterans who are returning, trying to assimilate back into civilian life. this is life-saving, life or death for a returning veteran, peer-to-peer counseling, mental health programs. governor cuomo proposed to cut the funding, the state assembly also proposed to cut it. we fought back, we restored it. and that's the best of the happy ending. at the same token a few weeks later they look to not provide these benefits for free college for our young people whose families were killed. the ones pro detectiving us. none of us would be elected officials if it wasn't for the military a men and women who serve bravely. there seems to be a lack of appreciation. i have to tell you, how do you go a family and say thank you

american universities than any other country on the globe, more than 350,000. universities kapter to them, since they pay full tuition. but they take seats that could go to deserving americans. that's not all. according to u.s. intelligence service, china aggressively employs students as spies in the u.s. not russia, china. earlier this year a chinese student was sentenced to a year for taking photographs of military facilities in key west presumably on behalf of china. we spoke about chinese students with hall lambert, here's what he said. >> what's going on at these universities is unbelievable. look, the chinese over 10 to 12 years are economic and military adversary of the united states a general in china said they ought to attack american ships and invade taiwan. we have cia director that said here in the united states we are

knee a cold war with china, their goal is to become the leading super power around the world. their goal, they came out with a 20235 plan to take over everything in robotics, artificial intelligence, genomics, aerospace, that's their goal. they're send stug didn't here and taking up slots at the universities, and guess what, studying in those fields. that's what is going. >> tucker: we're helping them surpass us, at taxpayer subsidized universities, but the education lobby, higher education lobby is so powerful no one says anything about it? >> well, there's billions of dollars at stake here. and as you said, they're paying full tuition, the schools love that. not just that, they're also opening confucius institutes around the colleges as well, another sorts source of revenue, propaganda arms that are controlled by the ministry of education in china. and those are over 100 universities right now. in fact congressional leaders

came out heavily against this, senator cruz introduced something to cut off funding for skls that were going to take money for confucius institutes. chinese government doing that, also we have chinese companies that are partnering up with ufertses for research and giving money do universities for research. wawei which is under criminal investigation, has 50 such relationships with universities right now, today. and, look, china passed a law in 2017 that says, chinese companies are obligated to help in counter intelligence. and are only galted to keep it a secret. they have, they can go to jail, if you're xikive of a chinese government and you don't take the offer to help with counter intelligence and urts are partnering with chinese -- universities are part nevering with chinese companies. this isn't fair to american students. they're top ivy league schools, accept less than 10% of the applicants that come in. these are kids that have stellar

grades, stellar test scores, great academics, their parents are paying taxes here. many of their parents maybe served in the military or grandparents, they may have had some one die in the military, in service to the country and we're taking chinese nationals to fill these slots. then you have corporations here in the united states say being kneeled more visas we don't have enough students with degrees in engineering. i wonder why that might be if we're filling up the engineering slots with chinese nationals. >> tucker: going back to china to help china sur pals the united states. 360,000 full paying students hasn't delivered any economic benefit to america, tuition haven't gone down, federal subsidies aren't going down. only the college administrators are benefitting from this. >> correct, and the fact they keep raising tuition. our kids can't afford it, you have chinese students paying the full boat, that's a great deal for the universities. and then you have, it's kind of

a boondoggle, sending, know, admission officers full paid expense trips to china to look at students and get chinese students to come here. great deal for admissions officers. and, look, another thing we haven't talked about, a big fraud component to these applications coming in. you have got, you know, they can't verify test scores, they can't verify extra curricular, there's a whole gamut. the fbi, the justice department, just indicted 15 chinese nationals for fraud in taking s.a.t. tests. they were fake passports and you can't tell who's who. you know, the s.a.t. isn't able to tell fake i.d.s. >> tucker: it's totally fraudulent as our higher education system. that is a compelling story and i appreciate you doing it on our show. thank you. >> thank you. >> tucker: well, we're out of time, the hour has passed, by the way so has the week.
