busing immigrants to sanctuary city. republican strategist, let's pull up a map here showing the states in the country that have some kind of sanctuary policy, the message has been, you know, the president might not like illegal immigrants but in these states we do, we welcome you. is the president calling a big bluff on this policy? >> i think so, here is the real irony. gavin newsom doesn't appear to want to take illegal immigrants in. that's highly ironic, he has run political career for over decade in policy platform, sometimes you're not sure where politician stands on the issue, gavin newsom has been clear and said in first state of address past february and first two or three minutes of speech, one of his top priorities is taking care of illegal immigrants, protecting

them. in twitter spat in campaign trail with governor of california, gavin said that these are california values to take in more illegal immigrants and in 2007 when he was mayor of san francisco, the first sanctuary city in the u.s. gavin newsom handed city id cards to help people from being deported by the federal authorities. rob: here is their chance. >> here is their chance, here is what is going on, people like gavin have seen over the decade that the plan has some problems, somebody has to pay for this and in case of california the california taxpayers are footing the bill, you look at even in his own state of the state of address this year, he talked about how concerned it was about hepatitis a outbreak in the border town of san diego, he talked about tifus outbreak in heavily illegal immigrant county in los angeles. in 2008 gavin newsom shielded

[cheers and applause] jillian: there you have it. not many people surprised by that but it is official. with candidates approaching record territory it is a sign of a fractured party, here to debate that is molly mitchell, former senior political operative, thank you both for joining us, we appreciate it. beverly, i will start with you, you hear democrats saying but this is what the republican party looked like just a couple of years ago, what do you think? >> i think that there's a fracturing in the democrat party but i don't think it's because of primary process and how many people have decided to throw their hat in the race in many ways this is good for democrats because it gets whoever is the ultimate winner not just battle tested but battle ready for donald trump, where i see the fracturing and the site moving forward as fight over socialism, what is a direction of the democrat party, you many who are moderate democrats, very worried that socialism is where it's headed because even though with

millennials and young people this tends to poll well, when it comes to democrat voters 45 and up they realize the harms of socialism, i think that's really where the battle is in the democrat party. >> i think a lot of people would agree, molly, my question is do you because it does seem like the democrats as a party are not all united when it comes to this idea of socialism. >> i think the idea of democrats in disarray is completely false, i mean, we've always been a diverse party from the moderate to more progressive left. jillian: they all agree on socialism? >> no, we are a big party and this is a great thing to have 18 candidates running for the democratic party because we have 18 candidates crisscrossing the nation, talking about democratic values and looking out for working class. >> let's take a look at look on how many are running so far, 16 declared candidates for the democratic contenders there and then we have another list that

has at least 9 at this point of potential candidates, beverly, how big do you think this is going to grow? >> i think over 20 very easily, you have more candidates that are considering getting in and i think they're likely to do so. i think this is going to grow, once begun i don't necessarily see it as a problem that there are so many people entering the race, i think the big problem with democrats is where do they stand on issues, i thought it was interesting that nancy pelosi had an interview on 60 minutes yesterday, you can tell she's trying to bring the party back that is going towards socialism because what you find with many of these candidates who maybe don't expect to win in this race but they want to start getting name id, they want to start getting platform out about socialistic values, they are looking at this in the long-term, long-term democrats have a really hard time with some of their middle-aged to older voters who realize that socialism isn't the answer, they know the history and they know that government ownership is everything, it's a damaging

es tore through the south. jillian: fox affiliate in cleveland with the damage in ohio. >> yes, good morning, we are here in shelby, ohio, about an hour and a half southwest of cleveland, ohio, take a look at the damage here along this country road where there was just a home, cars, power lines completely taken out by this tornado which came through 5:00 p.m. on sunday, the people who live in homes just like this one report today us that they went running for their lives to their basement hoping they would be able to stay safe, at least 30 different buildings throughout the small town have been destroyed, thousands without power at this point, main access roads throughout the town of shelby here are shut down and the police chief has asked residents here to stay home if able not come out to

areas that are most heavily damaged, we've been trying to access different parts of this town all morning long and having to turn around and finding ways to get through shelby here. the good news in all of this only 6 people injured, no deaths the sirens did go out in time for many people to be able to find safety through this tornado here in shelby ohio. back to you. >> thank you so much. rob: lit up in the past hour. >> if you live east of mississippi you probably dealt with this sometimes over the weekend, we continue to track it, all storm reports, everything in the red is a tornado. so this is a large system that's still on the move, some folks dealing wit.

50 million running out of time, what do they do? >> 50 million haven't filed taxes, there's a reason for that, guys, as we know in 2017 tax reform there was a lot of changes made so a lot of people are still trying to get arms around what they are including cpa's like me. if you haven't filed your tax returns yet you have to do it. my recommendation is to file an extension today, form 4868, that's the form that you want to do, estimate how much taxes you owe for 2018, you to get that in, they give you 6 months leeway to fill out the rest of the forms and get them filed with the irs, so get an extension, file today, mail it in with your payment and you'll be good for another 6 months to get your forms done. rob: nothing more american way to not want to they taxes. only 17% of americans believe that they actually got a tax cut, the narrative from a lot of

democrats has been that this is all a tax scam, most people think, what exactly happened there? >> most of us as accountants let alone at the average taxpayer we are still trying to figure out. 50 million people haven't even filed their tax returns yet, so i don't think that all the data is in and the biggest reason why people don't think they got enough of refund is they probably had more withheld during the year, tax rates change during the year, w4 forms were not updated. look, you don't want a refund, you don't want to owe taxes either, the big ter refund that you get from the government means the more money that you gave the government they were sitting on during the year, when people complain to me that they got lower refund, i tell them look at the tacks that you paid last year, good, keep your money, you don't want to get refund. jillian: nice to get a refund. let's talk about -- >> it's a psychological thing.
