firefighters putting out the notre dame fire just moments ago. investigators now figuring out what sparked it. french authorities ruling the once raging fire an accident and speaking with some construction workers who were at the cathedral when this fire broke out. the historic belltower saved from the flames as french president macron plans to rebuild the landmark in the heart of paris. >> we will rebuild together. and without a doubt it is part of the project that we will carry out as we are called upon the best talent in the world to rebuild. daymac bernard arnaud pledging $226 million towards reconstruction overnight.

the blaze igniting 5 minutes after notre dame, a popular tourist attraction closed for the day. flames engulfed in the holy site causing its spire to topple. that was dramatic. here you can see inside the cathedral, as the flames ripped through the roof a giant cross in the center of the cathedral miraculously left untouched during the blaze. amy kellogg is on the scene in paris and she will bring the latest as firefighters remain on the scene. in just a few moments, stay tuned for that. cleanup is underway in the meantime. back here in the states tornadoes and powerful stores recap back from texas to the northeast. 9 people now confirmed that including children. the latest of happening in virginia. a woman crushed to death when a tree fell into her home. the incredible video out of pennsylvania showing powerful winds blowing off a roof.

what do you think about isis and their latest threats and claims? >> reporter: i don't think we've seen the last of isis. they are still committed to attacks across europe and what really concerns me with all these years of war and talk about liberating various cities is how many ice fighters slipped through the cracks. in my in our estimates of the remaining isis fighters globally are likely highly inaccurate and i think we saw that recently during the liberation in syria with the last remaining stronghold, estimates that only 50 isis fighters, 50, 500 isis fighters remain in that city alone but the battle raged on, we saw 3000 isis fighters surrender. many of these fighters over the years like to slip through the cracks, simulated back into society and prepping for a new asymmetric battle and this is where it gets more dangerous

serious xm 115 is here with the emotional moment. so much emotion, the images and listening to this and how about that for a viral video? people gathering outside the video as flames were devastating it and images of those flames billowing out of notre dame sparked reaction from around the world and across the country. olivia on twitter says paris -- this is painful to watch. i shall forever treasure my memories of notre dame cathedral. joshua was says it is so warming to see parisians coming together like they always do, a trade very few cities or countries share. my thoughts are with paris in the country. another twitter user says this made me cry. such a sad thing to see notre dame burn and see parisians gather and sing hymns in its wake. firefighters have their work cut out for them because these stone structures made it more difficult for them to get to the

messages encouraging the assassination of the president. i hope the secret service investigates the good fight thoroughly. alice says a network i found entertaining becoming like all the rest, one more viewer down. it appears to have been a misunderstanding. cbs deleted the tweet and apologizing a social media post for the good fight displayed show content that when presented in isolation outside the context of the show created an impression and provokes a reaction that is not intended and has been removed. in the show the main character is fighting to protect the president and that the list of words the character was going to look out for in a nsa wiretap. without that context it looks pretty bad. >> with the context if that makes any sense doesn't make a lot of sense. what did you think? reaction on this one. the time is 27 after the top of the hour. bernie sanders wants the rich to

without most of its roof, it has been ravaged as the french are saying and the damage is at the scene from the aerial shots that we can take a look at now. french president macron said it will be rebuilt. the cathedral has witnessed all our history, the french people expect it. it is what history deserves. it has been through more, epidemics, there has been a call put out for donations and billionaires are stepping forward, bernard are no is donating $226 million towards reconstruction efforts. again, the buyer is gone and the roof is largely gone but the

exterior structure has been preserved. the extent of the loss and the drama of the fire has deeply saddened the nation and many of the world over, 13 million visitors come to notre dame every year. the mayor says most treasures have been saved including the ring, the crown of thorns worn by jesus christ on his crucifixion, the fall of this spire was a moment of particular heartbreak last night but the spire was added to the cathedral only in the 19th century. president macron canceled a speech meant to resolve the crisis with the yellow vest movement. he came to visit notre dame and insisted it be rebuilt and police are saying they do not expect any foul play. they opened an investigation into what they call involuntary destruction by fire. it is widely believed the fire was set off by the construction work that was going on inside
