gust newt gingrich. we hope you'll tune in. have a great night, everyone. "the ingraham angle" is next. this is an ingraham angle special. 2020, a battle for the heartland and the culture. former vice president joe biden bumbles through his "view" interview today. does he have a woman problem? we'll ask our female panel. plus alan dershowitz is here for a lesson for the democrats. his analysis ahead. and since it's friday, we've got to bring you friday follies with a special guest. brian kilmeade will comment on
7:01 pm
how old is too old for a president. first, the battle for suburban women is on. and if the race ends up being between donald trump and joe biden, today might have provided an opening for the president. for some context, why college educated women are thought to track closely with suburban women. trump lost this group by seven points in 2016. now biden has his own women's issues, if yo you'd like to cale and snope. he seemed oddly unprepared. >> i have to be more careful. including whether i sit down next to somebody and is not invited to sit down. so that's my responsibility. >> also said we'd like an apology. >> well, look. i'm really sorry if they -- what
7:02 pm
i did in talking to them, trying to console, that in fact they took it a different way. and it's my responsibility to make sure that i bend over backwards to try to understand how not to do that. >> she wants you to say i'm sorry i invaded your space. >> so i invaded your space. i'm sorry this happened. but i'm not sorry in the sense that i did anything that was intentionally designed to do anything wrong or be inappropriate. >> i guess having women sit on his lap and nuzzle them without permission, nothing inappropriate. joining me is nan hayworth, kathie arue, former washington post panelist. will grope and sniff gate dog joe biden or did he put it to rest? >> it sure feel like a sorry not
7:03 pm
sorry kind of session. i mean, you know, if you're going to -- i mean, if you're going to try to be sincere, if you really think that women's issues -- and i do not -- are limited to these kinds of things, independent women's forums, women's issues concern us all. but if you're going to run on that kind of an issue and you go on "the view," you better be prepared to do some humble groveling. >> kathy, they sent him out there to put it to rest with a largely female audience. did he do it? >> i think so. he was humble, apologetic, careful. absolutely. >> he was vague. >> he was vague, he was service. we didn't want a cocky guy on "the view" saying he would do it all over again. >> but he wasn't confident or
7:04 pm
apologetic. >> audrey, i want you take on this. >> it's not a true apology. but to your point, it gets back to what are the issues that affect all women. and there are some. let's look at the economy now. no one wants to go back to what it was eight years ago. women unemployment is the lowest it's been in 65 years. that's the important issues that we should be talking about. >> absolutely. >> there was another moment in this interchange with "the view," uncomfortable moment when biden struggled to answer a question about his treatment of anita hill during the clarence thomas hearings and a recent conversation they had. watch. >> she was not 100% happy with your discussion with her. so here's your opportunity right now to just say you apologize, you're sorry. i think we can clean this up right now. >> by the way, i did. i understand -- look. i'm not going to judge whether or not it was appropriate, whether she thought it was sufficient. but i said privately what i've
7:05 pm
said publicly. i'm sorry she was treated the way she was treated . >> i don't know why it took you so long to call her. i wish it had happened earlier. >> i didn't want to quote invade her space. >> i think what she wants you to say is i'm sorry for the way i treated you, not for the way you were treated. i think that's chloe. >closer.>> did you catch that? the way she got treated, using the passive voice, in other words, not my fault. will this hurt him, kathy? >> it's not going to hurt him. it's going to be a great meme. everything is going to be memes. >> liberal women will put this aside? >> they're going to forget this. this is going to be forgotten just like -- trump did much worse, the thing he said on the bus with billy bush. much much worse. this is a meme at best. >> now, stop. that was trash tack which
7:06 pm
frankly you know. go to a bar, you can hear them talk like this. >> i know. >> i'll take you to one. >> okay. >> but you know, here's what i think everybody needs to remember. virtue singling is not virtue. words are not deeds. and personalities are not policies. so when we are judging any of these candidates -- i can look at president trump and say i know what he has done for america's women. >> hurt women. >> no, no. >> absolutely. >> one at a time. andrea, how has he helped women in your estimation. >> look at the unemployment rate. america is stronger than the international stage than it was eight years ago. our economy is stronger than it was eight years ago. he's appointed six cabinet level position to women in his administration. to your point, he's put forth strong leadership and america is stronger today than it was.
7:07 pm
>> absolutely. >> -- under president obama. >> that's not the only issue. the violence against women's act just disappeared. >> human trafficking act. >> it has actually helped women. >> violence against women's act fell apart during the shutdown of the government and everyone let it go. >> i know from being been in congress that it's deeply flawed and need to be improved. this mt. made material improvements. >> he ignored it. >> i want to move on to something else. very interest in the kei battleground state that delivered to election to donald trump. women in wisconsin, 50% would support joe biden, 40% donald trump. is this a problem for the president in. >> i think it's an opportunity for the president, raymond. i think president trump has been the past couple of months how the present counts of even how our tax breaks have gone for
7:08 pm
people have been badly distorted by the left. people don't actually know amazingly enough the real story about what's going on with this economy and what's going on with the benefits that the president provided. it's his opportunity to make that case. >> when you dig deeper into the poll, on trust with the economy, who would best handle the economy? 49% trump wins women, 33% for biden. who is best at keeping america safe. 46% trump, 35% biden. what does that tell you? >> tell me right now how people are feeling. but what's going to happen six weeks before the election. how are they going to feel six weeks before the election. right now it's about becoming the candidate. biden needs to get past the issues, get this out of the way and talk about the real issues. >> aren't these the real issues? how decisive are they for the women voters. >> they're real important. we're heading in a good direction. to go back to the policies that
7:09 pm
we had before is something that i don't know that women are going to want to do. those numbers are strong. but to your point, americans get to make their decision, women get to make their decision and they're going to have two different policies to choose from. today on "the vow" -- i believe the culture informs a lot of this. and joe biden appearing on "the view." he was there for most of the show. he not only addressed things that tied up his campaign in the early days but he wept over his son, beau biden who died a few years ago. they were very close. does that in any way connect him to american women and show a vulnerability that perhaps president trump hasn't shown? >> yes, raymond, it is very sympathetic trait and vice president biden is good at those sentimental moments.
7:10 pm
but again, personalities are not policies. and what americans need most desperate by are policies that work in their lives. those are the things that make it possible for us to create great things for our loved ones. >> how do you think this will affect women, particularly women who are not particularly political? >> those are the ones that are going to decide. those are the ones going to decide this election. so we've got the ones very trump, ones very democrat. but the people deciding the election are going to be the women that want if best for their children and the future. suburban moms are going to decide the election. trump wins. >> andrea, you have the last word. >> certainly you feel for him and there's a lot of people who have gone through tragedy and he can relate to that but at the end of the day it gets down to policies. >> thank you all for being here. after his lame attempt to answer his critics, joe biden spent the rest of the time on
7:11 pm
the view discussing the campaign of his campaign launch video, the charlottesville events in 2017. >> i wrote an article at the time in "the atlantic" magazine when charlottesville happened. this is snot what we are. it's about decency, honor, including everyone. in leaving no one behind. i don't remember that happening in an administration before in well over 100 years. >> the president is looking to relitigate all of this. what they see is a troubling moment for president trump. today they pressed him on his way to the nra convention. watch. >> you look at what i said, you will see that that question was answered perfectly. and i was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to robert e. lee, a great general, will you like it or not. >> here to react is communications director for
7:12 pm
turning point usa and president of democrats for education reform. ladies, gentleman. is this a legitimate campaign opener for biden? and your reaction to the president's comments there. i'll start with you, shaffar. >> the charlottesville issue spoke to the character of president trump. he said there was blame to go on both sides. we had white nationalists and white supremacists who caused a death to a person. race has been a faultline in our country and we need a president to bring this country together, not tear it apart. >> candace your take on that. the president called white supremacist fine people. is that what happened? >> that is not what happened. he specifically said i am not speaking about white supremacists or nazis.
7:13 pm
and what's really bizarre is that joe biden of all people would use this as a way to launch his campaign. he is a man who was mentored by robert byrd, a literal kkk mentor. he has issues with black america and i'm really happy to see that people on both sides of the political aisle have spoken up and pointed out his hypocrisies. >> cnn's van jones thinks that biden planted a perfectly laid trap for the president. watch. >> he's got him right where he wants him already. but really, it's so painful to hear the commander in chief, the president of the united states sit up here and brag on a traitor, brag on someone creating an act of treason. it's painful. it's wrong. wrong-headed. beneath him, beneath the office of the president. but from a political point of view, joe biden showed the world he knows how to put a banana
7:14 pm
peel in front of the president and watch him fall. >> has biden laid a banana peel for the president to fall on? >> no. there is not a single candidate that is going to beat president donald trump and that is the truth. they have nothing that is new. to me joe biden is the new hillary clinton. they're going to celebrate him and say he's highly favored when in fact he is not at all. people understand that he does not have any policies. he's doing more fear mongering and being hypocritical and america is not going to fall for it. we're doing much better under this president than we were under obama. >> is this really what the african-american community is looking for in a candidate, sort of identity pol politics, this y is a racist and i'm not, criminal justice reform from trump. what are african-americans really looking for in your opinion? >> first of all, the
7:15 pm
unemployment trends we see today started with president obama. in the aftermath of the bush recession, the african-american unemployment rate was 17%. when president obama left office 8.5%. orbed the bush recession, the latino unemployment rate reached 13%, less than 6% under president obama. we've seen improvements in the last couple of years under trump but most of the trends started under president obama. president trump has dismantled the affordable care act which affects working families across this country, disproportionately people of color. and that sort of character, that racialized character is what we've seen from this president for a long period of time? what about criminal justice reform. i want both. you to react. president obama talked about this. we heard it talked about during his administration. it was never enacted. nothing was done.
7:16 pm
candace? >> would say this. black americans are tired of being undermined. that's best evidence that despite the rhetoric, despite the media trying to label trump as a white supremacist. we're tired of people issuing an emotional response to donald trump. we want people to offer policy to fix our community. unfortunately it's only trump offering policies. i predicted over and over again that president donald j. trump is going to be the person that cracks the black vote because we're tired, fatigued with the racial argument. >> you do see numbers in support from african-americans rising for trump. to what do you attribute that? >> first of all, i'm not offering emotion, i'm offering facts. president trump just this year sought to cut $200 billion from the student loan pact, 200. >> student loans affect everybody, hispanics, whites,
7:17 pm
chinese. >> they disproportionately affect people of color. >> the majority of blacks don't make it to college so that's dishonest. >> i got ten seconds left. >> i mean i would like to finish. under president obama. >> just correcting you. i'm sorry. >> i'm going to correct you now. under president obama we saw record numbers of black people complete college. >> records are not the majority. the majority of people that attend college are white. i want to correct the record. >> dramatically there are more white people in country. high school graduation rates went up. >> the question was about student loans and who tholed would impact. >> i would love to be able to finish. again when president obama was elected, the aftera math of the worst depression, african-american unemployment rates before down 50%, latino
7:18 pm
unemployment rates went down 50% under president obama. >> historic lows now. i gave you plenty of time. you're not answering my question. why are black americans now rising in their support of donald trump? you got five seconds. >> well they can go nowhere but up. he was close to zero in between so they may go up incrementally but he's going to lose the african-american and latino vote. >> no he's not. i'll answer in five seconds. black people aren't stupid and we're getting tired of the race mongerying. >> guys, i wish i had another half-hour with the two of you i guess. thank you forking the here. to the heartland, president trump champions the second amendment at the nra convention and the harrowing tales of americans who saved lives with guns. wait until you see this. allergies with sinus congestion and pressure? you won't find relief here. go to the pharmacy counter for powerful claritin-d.

democrats want to disarm law-abiding americans while allowing criminal aliens to operate with impunity. but that will never happen as long as i'm your president, not even close. >> the second amendment is quickly becoming a political flash point ahead of 2020 and today at the nra convention, president trump made it very clear what side he's on. the 2020 democrats however have staking out some aggressive language on their own on this issue. watch. >> opinio upon being elected i l give the united states congress 100 days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws and if they fail to do it i will take executive action. >> i'm going to ban and buy back 15 million assault weapons and i know most americans are we many. >> joining me now, the found are
