11:00 pm
excellent, i am greg gutfeld.. one killed three injured after a shooting in the synagogue. the suspect in custody. "watters world" starts now. >> this is a fox news alert president trump set to take the stage at a rally in green bay wisconsin any moment but first tragedy at a synagogue just outside of san diego. a white 19 -year-old gunmen storming into a service on the final day of passover killing one woman and injuring three others including another one - - a little girl the suspect was taken into custody president trump addresses the shooting earlier today. >> my deepest sympathies go to the people affected, the families, loved ones it looks
11:01 pm
like a hate crime. it's hard to believe we will see what happens at this moment it looks like a hate crime that my deepest sympathies to all those affected we will get to the bottom of it. the person was apprehended. jesse: now we have the latest from the west coast newsroom. >> officials confirming one person died in the shooting at the chabad of poway. it is called a hate crime that the community will come through the tragedy united. for patients were transported to the palomar medical center. what has passed away two adult males and a little girl in stable condition it's unclear how many were inside at the time of the shooting at least
11:02 pm
100 witnesses are waiting to be interviewed. also waiting to hear from them about what happened. the 19 -year-old white male suspect was engaged by an off-duty border patrol agent at the time it unfolded he was able to get away than a short time later he surrendered to a k-9 officer without incident and ar type rifle was spotted in the vehicle the shooting happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. as worshipers were beginning the all day passover service scheduled to end tonight with the passover meal. jesse: fox cannot independently confirm the identity of the alleged shooter but some local news anchors they think the identity of the shooter that he has a manifesto that he posted online last night looks
11:03 pm
like he was copycat talking a lot about the shooter in christchurch and new zealand so what more do we know about the area in southern california that this happened? . >> yes look at some of the video we are showing our viewers all day it looks like quiet streets but one thing to point out there is the synagogue there is a christian church next-door at least a couple other houses of worship in that area at least a couple other houses of worship in that area to the synagogue so an area with plenty of houses of worship if somebody wanted to carry this out. we are hoping to hear more like a possible manifesto.
11:04 pm
and then to shed some light on that. jesse: it looks like they are getting ready to do a press conference right now. fox news cannot independently confirm the identity although the local affiliates have confirmed who this guy is. he was inspired allegedly by the mosque shooter in new zealand and also the synagogue shooter in pittsburgh pennsylvania. we have not been able to confirm but to hear he was a vicious anti- semite because
11:05 pm
of donald trump support of israel. that is what the local affiliates are reporting and then to stay with this story as it develops thank you very much. jesse: now with the national police officer analyst and to talk about the manifesto how reliable are they with these types of shootings? . >> first i commend that border patrol agent to do exactly what they are supposed to do it could've been worse if they were not there but dylan had a manifesto that they did not report it so you cannot take these things lightly. if you see something say something. this has shown we cannot take
11:06 pm
this with a grain of salt we have to act quickly. this went out about an hour and a half before the shooting that was plenty of time to stop the accident today. jesse: as you mentioned there was an off-duty border patrol officer and allegedly chasing the armed gunmen out of there. and a high-speed chase ensued and then to apprehend them. with bullet proof vest the does have suggested to be taken into custody but to have somebody this soon after in
11:07 pm
custody what is going on inside the detention facility? . >> cmac he has been given the right to remain silent but to find out as much information as you can. how long but with that alleged manifesto. to search the house or vehicle look at phone records or electronic social media so keep in mind this investigation is early. we think we have the bullet points of a hate crime but still a very active investigation. >> right now the local law enforcement is ready to have a
11:08 pm
press conference. >> we are collecting evidence and aware of the manifesto and determining the validity and authenticity. one person tragically died today and an update on the other victims, one has gone into surgery, one adult male in stable condition in the juvenile is in stable condition transported to children's hospital. we are currently working with the escondido police department and fbi to determine involvement of the mosque one month ago. and with the sheriff's department to conduct additional patrols at a house
11:09 pm
of worship throughout san diego county. as we stated before with a crisis drama and also the county crisis line 24 hours a day seven days a week we urge everyone to stay vigilant with those unusual circumstances with 9112 guarantee they are promptly investigated and responded to. we are lucky to have the cooperation that we do just a few agencies with the sheriff's department san diego fire and fbi, highway patrol police department atf and the
11:10 pm
us border patrol. also with me today the mayor of poway and behind me congressman peter's. . >> his name is john ernest 19 years old and has had no prior contact with law enforcement as far as we can tell. looking at the possibility in escondido one month ago. some digital evidence we are reviewing right now. i cannot give you more detail than that.
11:11 pm
right now it is an ar 15 assault type rifle. i don't have specifics. . >> clearly investigated as a homicide also the hate crime possible violation and civil rights violations. i will not go into that he is being thoroughly interviewed right now by detectives and agents. right now we have no connection with mister ernest in any groups. we have no record of police contact prior to today. [inaudible]
11:12 pm
. >> i cannot confirm that right now. no explosives at the synagogue. [inaudible] . >> the status of the witnesses the rabbi's house behind the synagogue waiting to be contacted by fbi agents and deputy sheriffs.
11:13 pm
>> i would prefer that to the synagogue i don't know we will have extra patrols in the area and hopefully nobody will try to copycat this tragic event. >> my understanding is the rabbi is one of the individuals that was injured in the shoot and as i stated before there was a border patrol officer off-duty at the synagogue. and as he was leaving the
11:14 pm
facility he obtained a weapon. jesse: that was a san diego county sheriff delivering a briefing one woman killed injuring three others he identified the gunman as john ernest, an 18 year old white male. clean record also suspected to be involved in a mosque burning that occurred about one month earlier in escondido which is interesting. and we will bring more as the story develops. so joe i will begin with you there is a real pattern of the
11:15 pm
last year targeting houses of worship. shootings that attacks all over the world you cannot put armed guards over every single house of worship but what does that tell you as the pattern develops with hate crimes and violence? . >> alone wolf knows what a soft target is exactly as you describe. and we see it in california, new zealand and then to put an armed guard in every place. so i could not tell you what they are does this person support this politician or
11:16 pm
that politician when a shooter shot up with republican lawmakers nobody should appointed to bernie sanders the way with donald trump in that sick individual. nobody points to donald trump to say that is the reason they carry out these crimes they are to blame. let's not share this person's name and plaster his face all over the news. it is irrelevant and only leads to copycats. jesse: it is because allegedly looking at the manifesto was inspired by the synagogue shooting in pittsburgh and the new zealand attack as well. so we mentioned the manifesto trying to link politicians with those local affiliates
11:17 pm
and the guys obviously at anti-semite and does not support donald trump but this would be politicized. we both know that. >> certain facts become clear to spend the inordinate amount of time with the language that he uses is clearly a rabid anti- semite and despises conservatives because they don't conserve anything. as the white supremacist ideology. people will try to politicize this for their own agenda to promote certain gun-control laws and other ways that could have prevented the shooting it
11:18 pm
is a hypothetical i don't see a lot of evidence but that could've been prevented but what we can do right now is pray for the victims for those who were killed or injured as passover comes to an end. and that could give us a modicum of justice that capital punishment is dealt swiftly to have some semblance of justice. >> i recall covering a story a couple months ago of the then mayor from san francisco from gavin newsom talking about capital punishment with executive action. after something like this it seems like terrible timing. even though california voters
11:19 pm
voted to speed up the process for execution but i have to tell you i am fairly close to where this occurred outside of san diego. my heart breaks for that community i have been there in a great community it is. but also the border patrol agent who stood up we don't know if he returned fire but there are reports he shot at the getaway vehicle talking about what we can do to prevent these things but if you look at the continuous incidence of soft targets they go there because they don't believe anyone will be armed to return fire so the fact this off-duty agent had a firearm to return fire at least shooting at the getaway vehicle is one of the things i look at that only do i commend border patrol agents but the concealed carry holder who could return fire that is a
11:20 pm
victory for the second amendment even here in california. jesse: this will be politicized you will hear people from all sides of the political spectrum if you have people with a gun and this is one of those examples if we ever stopped any gun from ever being sold again with 300 million guns that are out there we will not start confiscating them because who knows what that could lead to. as a journalist you say even the most staunch gun-control laws on the books have not been prevented from happening and what we can see that isn't the case but this still
11:21 pm
unfortunately would have happened because sick people do sick things and that is what happened here. . >> we will continue to follow the story and a big campaign style speech on the same night as the white house correspondents dinner he did it last year and again this year i believe he is coming up shortly what to expect from the president tonight quick. >> president trump is the greatest show in politics so to compete with him is impossible. jesse: we see the president coming out right now to a raucous crowd as we said before the president holds
11:22 pm
this rally against the white house correspondents dinner to say he would be with the people to be with the supporters with no collusion and obstruction and first-quarter growth and i'm also sure we will hear about bernie sanders who said he wanted the boston bomber to be removed from behind bars so let's go to green bay wisconsin and we will watch the president right now.

11:40 pm
years. 297% tariff. that means you can't sell it. that's essentially putting up a barrier. so all of those things are taken care of in this new deal, and you're going to be opened up -- [cheers and applause] they don't love it, but it's going to be good for everybody. [applause] it's going to be good for everybody. and if they didn't approve, i would have just put tariffs on the cars. i didn't want to do that, but i said if that's not going to happen, we're putting tariffs on the cars and, frankly, we'll make must have r more money. -- make more money. you'll watch the company grow and prosper as you starve, that's no good, right? and, actually, it's good for canada, it's good for mexico, it's good for us, we've got to get congress to approve it. so put a lot of pressure on these geniuses we have over here. [laughter] the deal is either going to be a great deal -- it has to be. i told president xi, he's a friend of mine. i said, listen, this can't be a good deal for both, because we have been losing to china for many years. $500 billion a year. we have rebuilt china, we've given 'em so much. think of it, and that's ooh cash, you know? they can say it's surplus, they can say it's deficit, call it whatever, we were losing cash. we're giving them $500 -- how the hell can you do it? and as prime minister abe said to me today the, he said nobody's ever talked to me this way -- [laughter] from our country, sure. [applause] no, he said it friendly. [applause] no, he said it friendly. he said it friendly, he's a friend of mine. but he said nobody from this country, no president has ever said this. nobody ever even talked about
11:42 pm
it. we lose $75 billion a year, japan as an example, sells us their cars. the cars come in. no tax. they don't take our cars. other than that, it's a very fair deal. [laughter] so the cars come in, essentially, it's 2.5%, but essentially it's no tax. our agriculture, they don't want it. we want to sell the agriculture. so they sell cars, we sell practically nothing. that's how we have these massive imbalances with so many countries. now china's the big one, because with china it's at least $375 billion a year deficit. think of it. who the hell wants -- who made these deals? [laughter] it's true. honestly, in all fairness to obama, this was him, but this was before obama, a long time before obama. this has been going on for a

11:50 pm
so make america great again. the problem is we've made america great very soon. we have a couple of things to do. we should have had health care, but one man decided to vote against us at the last moment. i was -- even though he campaigned for eight years repeal and replace, but that's okay. that's okay because we're coming up -- if we win, we're coming up with a great panel of health care. we're going to be the party of health care. after the election. we've got to take back the house. we've got to win the senate. we've got to win the presidency.
