ago. as mike pompeo is engaging it, russia is playing a double game and we need to be tougher with russia to ensure they pulled out of venezuela and we allow sort of a policy that unfolds that the venezuelan people have done this before, i think we are headed for worse waters going forward. rob: this is a topic that brings together the actors we should be worried about. when you have iran, china and russia invested in and protecting the same place and teaming up. how do you keep these countries from being so potent? >> reporter: you hit the nail on the head. we have a problem with venezuela. we are right now acting in many ways on our own. we started multilaterally with partners from the region giving us a strong position but as we

push forward on military oriented language that isolated us and russia, china, these countries are not paying attention to us right now. they feel we are isolating more diplomatically. we have to step back, get away from the unilateral mindset and get engaged with other countries like the secretary is doing but building alliances to put pressure on these countries and let them know there are red lines. this is a clear red line on russian behavior in particular in venezuela. jillian: let's talk about north korea. kim jong un was frustrated when the summit fails, we have seen more activity out of north korea in the last few weeks. >> we have. the recent missile test seems like provocation from north korea. the danger is it looks like the

united states is chasing north korea for a nuclear deal and kim recently said he didn't want to speak with mike pompeo anymore. that is an unacceptable nod and north korea, feels like emboldened, like it has the lead and donald trump's language feed into that sense of entitlement in these negotiations but we need to make sure the region is with us and south korea and japan, these countries sticking with us and the north korean nuclear threat is real and kim doesn't feel pressure to make a deal with us right now. rob: vladimir putin made him feel more comfortable. the administration has been so tough on vladimir putin and russia, is it good cop bad cop? do you see something going on? >> i hope it is. the president had a 90 minute call with vladimir putin last friday. we don't know the full content

jillian: the doj agreed to meet with the staff of the house judiciary chairman jerry nadler today as they consider holding william barr in contempt of congress. the committee has been pressing him for an unredacted version of the mueller report. rob: brian kemp signing a heartbeat line to billable legislation banning most abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected. it includes exceptions for rape, incest and to save the life of the mother. current law allows termination procedures during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. jillian: republican senators will hear the trump administration's new immigration plan at the white house. rob: the proposal will enhance security at the southern border, increasing the number of migrant workers allowed in the us and lower the number of family members american citizens can sponsor. it's not clear when the plan would be released.

criminalizing magic mushrooms, legalizing marijuana, colorado has seen a dramatic increase in traffic deaths. what kind of dangers does the criminalizing it actually pose? the centennial institute at colorado christian university jeff hunt, thanks for your time. generally speaking, you talk about the dangers this could instill in the city, what do you think of that? what could it be like out there? >> we face serious problems in the city of denver as a result of commercialization of marijuana and the next step is to criminalizing psychedelic mushrooms. this is the same pathway we followed with marijuana. in 2005 denver decriminalized marijuana by 2012, they had legalized it and the announcement is fully commercialized which means very big companies are seeking to get as many people hooked on

marijuana as they can and they are following the same placement with the decriminalization of psychedelic mushrooms and this will have effect on the community. jillian: it makes you wonder what is next. >> we are going the wrong direction on a lot of illicit drugs. denver is getting a bad reputation for becoming the illicit drug capital of the world and we had problems with drugs driving a 150% increase, the colorado department of transportation did a survey where they found 60% of people admitted to driving, smoking, over 30% drive and smoke regularly and 10% said smoking marijuana helps them drive better. we are not getting the education out there, we are going in the wrong direction, companies that have a financial incentive to move forward, it is creating a problem for the state.
