morning, a pretty nice day. hopefully you will have a nice day wherever you are waking up, good morning once again. you are watching "fox and friends first" wednesday morning midway through the week. thanks for starting your day with us. we begin with what some say is shocking testimony on capitol hill revealing the scope of the border crisis and as the trump administration presses congress to act the president is praising mexico for stepping up to the plate. jillian turner live in washington with immigration taking center stage. >> the homeland security chief shared his concerns yesterday with the senate judiciary committee painting a grim picture of what he says is a border crisis that shows no signs of letting up despite the trump administration's best effort to be for border patrol. here's the exchange with lindsey graham yesterday. >> we did expedited immigration

of the hotel where they were found dead. how is the dominican republic responding to this? >> reporter: they are responding by doing the same thing they have been doing which is saying nothing. they are waiting for the investigation to play out on the three americans the died at the resort behind me. first it was may 25th, and in maryland, that couple spoke with the attorney, he said he has their bodies back in maryland. he will begin an independent autopsy, we will see what that provides.

tariffs to further foreign-policy deals? >> i don't think so. mexico and china are different situations. in mexico the president had a really tough challenge. mexicans were not cooperating. he needed to press mexico to better cooperate, was essential. the deal they achieved is important and it will make the difference. the solution to the problem is serious reform on immigration enforcement, and the plan the president put out, if you don't do that, that is the price. that is what has to happen. heather: that is needed to happen across multiple administrations. china is a different story.

>> one of the big problems, stealing our intellectual property, cyber crimes, losing out information of whole industries, unfair business practices, it is not unfair trade but economic warfare on the part of china. and the end tariffs are not the answer to the united states. we are a capitalist country, free markets are a home game for us. our goal has to get back to free markets because that is where we can be best and donald trump does that. heather: we acted as the world's piggy bank for a long time but he mentioned tariffs with other countries as well, france, india, canada. >> i think the long-term strategy is to press for free markets because that is where we compete best. that is the home game for us. we are fighting on our turf when

dealing in free markets and that is the objective. tariffs are a limited instrument. heather: i mentioned canada because the us and canada have what is referred to as a safe third country treaty between us, looking to do the same with mexico. is it possible this could have been part of the deal? >> if you pulled it off it would be a game changer. under international law you are supposed to seek refugee status, the first country that should be mexico, should not be the united states, transiting one country is not what refugee policy is for so is would be an appropriate agreement and good for the region and other countries should join in that. we should have sanity and not losing the humanitarian instrument to fuel illegal migration into the united

administration? >> they would like to have joe biden as president. if you look at the way china took advantage of our jobs and our economy during the obama administration they would see them as an opportunity with president joe biden if that were the case, to continue that message and they haven't had that luxury with donald trump who has been tough on trade and the economy. heather: what about his flip-flops? this is not the first issue he has flip-flopped on in the past couple weeks. >> that will be the entire joe biden campaign, flip-flopping and gaffes. when it comes to foreign-policy it has been said by many people that for the last 2 or 3 decades on every major foreign-policy biden got it wrong. he was opposed to the raid to kill us on the bin laden. he thought the ayatollah would bring peace to iran. he gets it wrong all the time. that is what we have to be careful of. very to mulch was times, letting someone who is sometimes naïve

about the intents of people is not good for foreign-policy. heather: north korea, comparing it to joe biden as vice president under president obama and one year since donald trump singapore summit with kim jong un. where do things stand right now? >> this is going to be a long road. if we continue to have a dialogue and there are continuing talks, as long as we are moving in that direction we are a lot better off than we were 6 or 7 years ago under the previous administration. they are continuing to have a conversation. sometimes the president likes to play good cop and he will leave the hard-line up to his staff. that is his style of negotiation. as long as we continue those talks it is progress. if we look at every major foreign-policy improvement in the last 3 decades with china and nixon that took many years and with president reagan and gorbachev it took decades. why should we expect a one year

major breakthrough? heather: people don't understand what you said. the president is constantly negotiating. here is what he said about what he refers to as a good relationship with kim jong un. >> i just received a beautiful letter from kim jong un. we have a very good relationship together. now i can confirm it because of the letter i got yesterday and i think something will happen that is going to be very positive. heather: the art of the deal. he knows they are listening. >> they are listening and paying close attention to the president and us politics. him coming forward and continuing to play this game of negotiating and flattery that is his style and works for him. let him do it. we are still talking. it will work very well in the end and we will be very surprised. what democrats need to realize,

ones. don mccoy is searching for answers after her husband suddenly died at the same resort last year and she joins me now to talk about it. thank you for joining us and sharing your story with us this morning, we appreciate it. you were with your husband celebrating our anniversary in 2018, your son was also with you at the time. tell us what happened. >> we had gone there for our anniversary. my husband had gone down 4 july. i had gone down the seventh. my husband started feeling ill that evening. when he woke up on the 13th he was saying he wasn't going to drink that day because he wasn't feeling good. about 2:30 that afternoon he went -- left the pool and went back to the room because he wasn't feeling good. he said he needed to take a nap.

me and my son got back from the pool at 4:00 and i asked my husband if he wants to eat, he said no. he slept until 10:00. our friends asked if we wanted to go to the casino. my husband said he was feeling better. when he got up i did notice he had a really strange smell to him. a very potent smell but i can't explain what it was. he had a smell. i said you need to brush your teeth and get in the shower. he did, the smell didn't go away. we went to the casino. he found me at 2:30 and indicated he needed to go to the room. heather: you noticed he was having trouble breathing, he was sweating, you tried to call an ambulance but they said, the hospital or the resort policy was they had to send a doctor first and took on most 30

minutes for the doctor to get there. >> correct. i begged him to send an ambulance and they said their policies to send the doctor first. i ended up calling three times. heather: you believe in the amount of time you waited for the doctor that your husband passed. ultimately, what was the decision that was made in terms of why he died? what did they tell you? >> the autopsy read that it was a pulmonary detox and heart attack. heather: now that you have heard about these other death that have been occurring what do you think? >> i think it is not coincidental. there something going on down there that is killing people, killing tourists. too many people dying of the same cause. heather: i want to put up a statement from the hard rock. we need to get their statement on it. one -- people read that, they want to assure people that
