>> what percentage of people show up for the asylum hearing? >> out of those 7000 cases, 90 received final orders of removal. >> 90% did not show up? >> correct. rob: that is a shocking number, the department of homeland security, 9 out of 10, nearly all asylum-seekers just skipping their court date after being released into the united states. jillian: the dhs secretary says congress needs to step up now. so will they? louis goehmert, thank you for your time. you heard the same number we heard that folks on the left of heard. what is going to take for people to realize there is a problem going on? >> you are exactly right. it is a big question. the answer seems to be democrats are going to refuse to do anything to help the situation on the border until the american people make clear that they are not going to put up with democrats in action in a crisis anymore.

it is -- 90% is consistent with what is going on. democrats are not going to spend a dime to help the situation and so actually they are exacerbating things, helping lure more thousands and tens of thousands of people from the border by not doing anything and the president is doing what he can with what he has got but one of the things i'm recommending is since the immigration judges are appointed by the attorney general, let's take katrina taylor's intents or whatever we have to do, set them up on the border, have immigration judges on the border so as people claim asylum, let them out on their own recognizance, give them a hearing that day and deport the 95% that are given asylum after a hearing so it is critical.

the fact that we are not doing anything sufficient is also drawing more people to the border. it is a vicious cycle. rob: what about the safe third country we are seeing? the paper the president was holding up yesterday at that impromptu conference, they think they see things the talk about mexico potentially agreeing to be the safe country that people will have to go there and stay there until there asylum hearing, there is a determination. >> people don't like tariffs. i'm not a tariff fan but that is leverage the president has to get countries to agree with what they should do. it appears that has worked with mexico. they are in many cases agreeing to be the third country where people stay until there asylum claim can be heard.

that is a huge development and we already had an agreement with mexico. there was a small agreement with three ports of entry but nothing like the agreement the president has gotten and by the way, when people come into the united states from mexico from countries other than mexico they have no right to claim asylum because you have to becoming from a country in which you have reasonable fear and they are coming through mexico which means they are in a country where they no longer have that fear, they are to stay in mexico. jillian: what do you say to people who say the president is claiming victory, speaking of the tariffs on mexico, over a problem he created? >> that problem has been there, it has been in existence for a wild but it is getting worse not because of the president but
