to memphis, memphis police a level iii high alert after 3 dozen officers are hurt in violent protests. all of the officers are on duty with no off days. the city relatively quiet overnight following the chaos wednesday. we showed you demonstrators smashing cop cars, throwing bricks and rocks at the officers. the violence breaking out after us marshals shot and killed brendan weber who is wanted for shooting a man and stealing his car. family and friends gather for a vigil to remember in la sheriff's deputy shot dead inside a fast food restaurant. ♪ i once was lost ♪ but now i am found ♪ heather: he was off duty when police say the suspect randomly shot him in the head. nelson is accused of murdering another man in our earlier.

some sad news. she has a great job, white house press secretary sarah sanders is stepping down. she will leave the administration by the end of the month to spend more time with her family, she has three of them. not clear who will replace her yet. her father, arkansas governor mike huckabee says she has enjoyed her time in the white house. >> one thing i can tell you she loves this president, she has been absolutely loyal to him and will continue to be. one thing she's looking forward to doing is to be able to set the record straight about what a remarkable person he is. heather: donald trump praising his longest serving press secretary. >> he has done an incredible job. we have been through a lot together and she is tough and she is good and she is a special person. she has been so great, she has such heart, thank you for an outstanding job and thank you.

children but it is in his party. as far as donald trump -- president obama being more compassionate, under president obama we went from 100 family detention beds, i, tom homan, bill 3000 more detention beds. they keep talking about the so-called cages which i don't call cages. heather: we have video of that up right now. heather: i have no problem with the facilities, you have to get children separated from unrelated adults. keep children away from unrelated adults. democrats want -- the cages which were both created under president obama. in fiscal year 12 the record number of removals of illegal aliens was 490,000.

heather: president obama actually deported over 3 million illegal immigrants during his entire time in office and was referred to as the deep order in chief. >> president obama took illegal immigration seriously at the beginning of his eight years and we did remove a lot of illegal aliens. he was doing the right thing, removing those illegal aliens, we were doing our job. not until later in his presidency we started talking about sanctuary cities, we couldn't put retainers on people in a county jail until they were convicted. things turned on the opposite side. let's not lie to the american people. heather: perhaps julian needs a history lesson.

immigrant rights groups asked the supreme court to delay the decision on the 2020 census question. what do you think about that? >> they don't want that to happen. they don't want the american people to know how many illegal aliens are in the country. i think there are more than 12 million people. i also think this is about power, votes, the electoral college. this is why they want illegal aliens here, they want them to be counted and not answer census questions, they want credit for all these people being here mostly in sanctuary cities which is what congressional seats are based on which leads to the electoral college. this is about them maintaining power, getting more power on the backs of people that aren't supposed to be here. if they are counted in the census it helps.
