backyard. pete: my kids are actually sick. they are better. ed: lead story immigration. the president putting pause on promise to have mass ice raise after a demand from nancy pelosi. what he seems to be doing is saying okay, i'm going to give you time to finally get moving, congress, and give me a bill on immigration. and fix this problem that we have all been talking about and if you don't do it, i'm going ahead with the mass ice raids in the next couple of weeks. it's a little reminisce sent what he did with mexico. the threat of tariffs that everybody said was so controversial and in the end it got mexico to the table. they actually took some action. the tariffs went away. pete: is he creating a deadline here. jedediah: tweeting at the requests of democrats i have delayed the illegal immigration removal process deportation for two weeks to see if the democrats and republicans can get together and work out a solution to the asylum and loophole problems at the southern border. if not, deportations start.

that tweet bothers me a little bit because it at the request of democrats. i'm a little concerned. i have got to put this out there. i'm a little concerned about that. because i don't want him to appear to be the type of president to anyone that says is he going to do something and pulls back. i don't want him to be to be delusional in the sense that he thinks suddenly the democrats are going to help him. i understand this is strategy and he wants to be the guy who said listen, i tried triage strategically to do everything i could with democrats to go into the next election and say i did everything i could. the reality is it's not going to, woman of achievement everything i'm hearing from aoc to rasheda tlaib it doesn't sound like they have changed their tune at all in being interested in compromise. pete: nancy liked it. jedediah: that's what worried me, pete. jedediah: mr. president, delay is welcome. time is needed nor comprehensive immigration reform. jedediah: what does that mean? exactly. pete: families belong together. this could be a negotiating

jedediah: i get it but at some point you have to recognize. ed: the democrats are saying time and time again look at this tragedy at the border and kids we agree horrible conditions then congress do something about it. the president is calling them out. jedediah: they are not going to do it. ed: time for someone to act. we shall see. turning to a fox news alert. the president doubling down on his commitment to keep iran from building a nuclear weapon. jedediah: the president putting iran ons in the promising to apply even more pressure this week. pete: our own gillian turner live in our nation's capital with the rising tensions. good morning. >> good morning. president trump announced new sanctions are coming tomorrow against regime in tehran. the white house says the move is meant to keep economic pressure squeezing the regime on all sides. the president tweeted iran cannot have nuclear weapons. under the terrible obama plan they would have been on their way to a nuclear -- to nuclear in a short number of years and existing verification is not acceptable. we're putting major additional sanctions on iran on monday.

i look forward to the day that sanctions come off iran and they become a productive and prosperous nation again, the sooner the better. now, iran threatened earlier this week to increase its uranium enrichment. the key chemical process involved in creating nuclear weapons. john bolton says these new sanctions are retaliation for that. >> threats to international peace and security in the middle east and around the world are on the rise. iran's continued pure suit ever nuclear weapons. >> national security officials though told me on friday the main goal of any of new sanctions is not really about the nuclear deal. since the u.s. isn't part of it anymore. they say the main goal is to cut off iran's revenue stream so they will be forced to stop sponsoring terrorist groups across the middle east. guys, back to you.

jedediah: thanks, jillian. jedediah: i like that. i have this constant desire for the white house to say less about what they are doing. i feel likes a media we know too much. we have way too many details. i want him and his team to know what they are doing. i want them to be in line and get it together and proceed as they see fit. but i don't necessarily want to know yeah we're going to do this, no, we are going to pull back. yeah we might do this, no we may not. i feel like i have too much information. pete: media part of sending a signal to iran even though we didn't strike we had the intention to. as a result it's a warning shot. sometimes can you use the media in that sense. joe biden the front runner on the democratic side is he weighing in on this and whether or not president trump should have made the decision he did. here's what he said. >> if, in fact, the military did not brief him what was happening, i just don't believe it. the military doesn't do that they sit down and say mr. president trump, you want us to do a, here's what we think will happen.

doing the right thing nobody better than donald trump trial to get to the right answer. only one focusing on the solution as opposed to the political game that's been ongoing for a long time and it needs to stop. ed: if democrats do not finish the job in the next few weeks i know they will not get a massive deal done. do not at least take a big first step on dealing with the asylum crisis slong with some border security. the president exposes that over the next couple weeks, what should be his next move. >> his next move is to go forward with the raids and start sending a strong message we are not going to tolerate the undermining of our laws across the country and make sure congress understands they are the ones responsible. he has done everything he can do. time for enforcement to step up and do the job. ed: we have stalked a lot about the president. what about these mayor's, largely democrats, in sanctuary cities. as we started this conversation, somehow they think it's okay to tell the people in their cities, the people that should be held

accountable to and be responsible to, that they are not going to enforce the law. they are not going to help ice. they have been tweeting libby schaaf in oakland bill de blasio in new york saying our police departments, our law enforcement will not help ice. how can they get away with that. >> they shouldn't. if we ookd prove any one of them harbor and conceal anyone they know to be in the country illegally including congresswoman ocasio-cortez who said yesterday to alert the communities that if they have safe havens in their homes to let people basically know that so that they can hide out there, they need to be prosecuted. they need to have warrant issued for their arrest. because, under federal law, it's a felony to attempt to harbor or conceal someone they know to be in the country illegally. what they're doing is also encouraging more and more people to come. ed: we appreciate you coming. in we know you are on the front lines of this crisis. we appreciate your insight. >> thanks for having me, ed.

status. various racial groups. you name it. it impacts every group in the world. he had have jed it's hard for me sometimes i'm not a millennial. i struggle with the bible i have my own relationship with the god. am i allowed to doubt some things if i have some doubts about some things am i still able to pick this up book and have a journey and experience? i think it's so important that you guys put this out there listen what you think this is, it may not be and it's okay to have whatever feelings that you have about it and kind of go through that process and still be open to learning what you are going to learn in our own personal journey? >> we have had the same personal experience we have had struggles and doubts what you mentioned and not what you think. part of what would he wanted to say was just that you don't have to have a perfect understanding or trust in the bible to come to it, but don't judge the bible before giving a chance to speak for itself. read it to yourself and come to your own conclusions what the message is. jedediah: i have to give it another shot. pete: parents who want to reintroduce the idea to their kids. also, i believe, the bible is the baseline document of

subject of electronic surveillance, we think we're being spied on. and so he said spying did occur. but the real issue is was it legal or was it not, and what the attorney general said, he's going to bring together all the investigations, he's going to look into the origin of the russia investigation, and he said it may or may not be criminal, and may be there was nothing wrong, and maybe we just have to set standards going forward what we do when we open a national security investigation. ed: right. important because this is what opened the door ultimately to the whole special counsel investigation a couple of years of digging around on president trump and his associates. james clapper as you know was director of national intelligence during all of this is lashing out a bit on cnn. let's watch him and we'll react. >> to have an -- a prosecuting attorney go investigate the analytic judgments and findings of a bunch of line analysts -- and, by the way, these were professional experts on russia

that were handpicked to be on this working group -- sends a very chilling message to the intelligence community. ed: he seems to be referring to u.s. attorney john durham who as you know from connecticut has been brought in by william barr to be the prosecuting attorney here. i wonder, is james clapper doing this out of a duty of actual concern about the intelligence community or might he and others in that community be a little concerned about william barr and what john durham are going to find out? >> well, it does send a chilling message. but the chilling message is the intelligence community has to do what's right and that's to follow the law. they're not above the law. and if they do what's right, they have nothing to worry about about. that's the long and the short of it. ed: that is a very interesting point you make and i wonder what's the message you have for james clapper and others when they're wondering this morning, saying, look, these are analysts analysts. don't question their judgment. they are analysts who got wmd wrong, for example, we can't beat up on all intelligence officials but there have been mistakes before.

pete: we're still talking about illegal immigration; right? we're talking about president's threat of recently we're going to deport, we're going to do some mass deportations based on people here illegally, he walked back from it saying i'm going to give democrats two weeks to

negotiate. by the way, i got a text from a member of congress saying just note the fact that congress only in session for a week of those two weeks. so it might be two weeks but you really only have a week of run away to get that done. ed: might be part of the president's idea. they're not really working all the time so he says i'm giving you two weeks, they really only have five legislative days, to the lawmaker's point. so they got to get moving. you look at dwight between the obama administration, the obama approach, the trump approach to trying to bring security to the border. there's also the issue of deportations. the left angry at president trump saying that he's sort of a monster, sort of creating this idea of deportations. when you actually look at the numbers and you look at the facts, president obama deported more people. let's look at these numbers. fiscal year 2009, 389,834. 2010 392,000 and counting. 2011, 396. and in 2012, ,000. i want to correct -- jedediah: big number. ed: -- that the numbers were off a little bit that we used earlier in the show last hour.

they should have been right and we're going to get 'em right and in fact those numbers we're going to showing you on the screen right now are higher than the ones we shadow early. we had him at 385 in the first couple years and now 389 and higher. these are the trump numbers, 326 256, 282. the point being there's a hundred thousand less deportations per year under president trump. some people on the right are going to be upset that the numbers are not higher under president trump saying he should be deporting more. but when you listen to democrats in congress and you listen to many in the media, painting this narrative that the president's out of control, deporting all these people -- pete: kids in cages. ed: -- in fact the obama administration, when you look at the facts, deported a lot more people. jedediah: the media reaction is just so ridiculous when you see numbers like this. how could you be outraged by what president trump is doing with respect to deportations and not have had any outrage when it came to president obama's deportations when you see the numbers? it's almost like -- i mean, it's

at that language. comprehensive immigration reform but i'd be skeptical about whether democrats will give trump an inch on this or if they will blow this up into we need more time because they don't want to allow him to have this campaign when going into 2020. if they delay it helps them. pete: or we make a deal and it's an open borders agenda where we give pathway to citizenship to everyone who's come here illegally. they say we propose something but it's untenable. two weeks is not a lot of time and you have a week for congress is not in session within those two weeks but the president and others have said you can do this in 15 minutes. asylum loopholes are advising people to bring big families and what kids can be addressed quickly. should be bipartisan. democrats think ratcheting up the pressure on the president and keeping the crisis going somehow benefit them and there's

a perversity. ed: and maybe the president is turning around and putting the pressure on democrats. you have responsibly to govern and now run the house. it's not the republicans in charge of both chambers but we not seen action from democrats in congress on any immigration. pete: but there interviewing former members of the administration and investigati investigating. if you're a democrat and how staid the object of what you're doing is you're still investigating and resisting with your committee and not addressing real problems. ed, does this eventually break through the washington bubble into the voters? ed: you have to wonder. we've seen focus groups and battleground states like pennsylvania where they asked the voters where they like the president or sticking with them in key swing voters saying they like what he's doing on trade and economy but when asked about the motherboard investigations, not following it. this was in axiom so these are facts. to your point, maybe femur can people see to the investigatio investigations. jedediah: people are exhausted. i'm exhausted from it.
