florida under donald trump when you talk about latinos prospering in florida, 435,000 new jobs, a massive number. historic lows in an employment, 4.4% late last year, that is a good number and median income which is a really important number raising to a ties level ever, he should get better support than 2016? >> you would think so. think about this. in november 2016 when he won florida the exit polls showed the president got 35% of the hispanic vote. at that time hispanic unemployment was 5.7%. we now have record level low unemployment for the hispanic community and the immigration issue, border security. if you are a hispanic voter in the state of florida or anywhere are you surprised the president has done what he said he would do?

not as if he said i'm going to grant amnesty for illegal immigrants. he came into office, met the expectations so i don't think that will be an issue for him either. >> look at the numbers here whether people approve or disapprove of the way the president is handling his job among hispanics and as you can see 28% approve in august 2018, that went up 36% in june 2019, the bureau has numbers out for the 2018 midterm election saying hispanic turnout went up from 13.4 points from the 2014 midterms to 40.4 the 2018, a huge jump. that could go in either direction. people have to be careful on both sides. >> mike pence kicking off the latinos for trump in the state of florida but if you look at those approval numbers, 39%, that tracks with the percentage of hispanic vote he got in 2016.

it is true most people believe in 2020 hispanics will overtake african-americans as the second largest voting bloc so it is a critical very important vote for the president, important for everyone running for reelection. the president has not fallen for this trap that there is no way to win hispanic votes if you believe in border security. >> doesn't surprise you he pulled the same numbers we've seen from republicans for the past 20 years? >> actually doesn't. one of the greatest myths political consultants have sold republican politicians is that it is impossible to win support for hispanics if you take a hard line on border security. it is not true. the polling has never supported that. this is ally purported by business interests throughout the year and it became republican dogma.
