to make their voices heard. what have you got for us tonight ? >> some of the candidates are going to be coming out with the de blasio campaign. his wife will be out. staffers and advisors and is also going to have some of the candidates out here trying to make their cases. to give you a perspective about what they might be talking about , some cover that democratic debate and sanders with the outlier on the left. there was this new idea. tonight what was fascinating wa to see how many of these candidatesgh was the norm for tm . it was not outlandish, starting with de blasio, pushing a 30 person -- 70% tax for the wealthy. the issue of abortion, saying that trans women should be able to get abortions, saying it's

for reproductive justice, a fou race that we have met her before . jay inslee pushing not just a green new deal but he wanted to base out all fossil fuel production. the economy is strong. take a listen to a little flavo of what these candidates were talking about. >> when you got a government, a economy that this great for those with money and isn't doin great for everyone else, that i corruption, pure and simple. we need to call it out and we need to attack it had on and we need to make structural change in our government, in our economy, and in our country. >> this isis supposed to be the party of working people. yes, we are supposed be for a 70 % tax rate on the wealthy. yes, we are supposed be for fre college, free public college fo our young people. we are supposed to break up big corporations when they are not

who would go first. this is exactly what we wanted. you didn't hear any name-calling . you heard healthcare, the academy, climate change, immigration. these are all issues that peopl care about. not only that, there was substantive policy discussion. webe believe that our candidate showed how there is a deep bench , not only in terms of their experiences, but their proposals. >> they are buried. there such different background than those on the stage night. we want everybody to feel good about the process. all but what are not going to make up the mountain we need every candidate in july to be talking about i am all and to nominate. i don't think that that was the case. i remember being on the floor a the dnc convention and then hearing from a lot of folks who felt they had been treated unfairly. what is the dnc trying to do to reestablish confidence in the

one of the things we focus on a lot is healthcare. mental healthcare is really not covered by a lot ofof american insurance plans and it is one i five americans who suffer from about conditions. i understand people's fears and worries and what i know is that the status quo is not working for speech number of middle-class and working class people. else look at other countries, countries with free enterprise systems, whom he economies and they have a single-payer system and they seem to make it work for people. we should learn from them to se what would work for us. >> to your competitive, delaney he said you should fix with networking. he fought hard against your ideas and said you're not going to be able to sell itu' to the american people and saying they're not doing a good job with someo of the other things, why would i trust them with my healthcare. >> it ain't the american people of every reason to be cynical

when i look at someve of the things that government has done wrong. there's all lot that the government has done right and a example is a military. a lot of people, for example, are very proud of the school that their child goes to. that is the government doing something for them too. we have to prove to people over time that we can create a syste that is fair and consistent. we do not have a consistent system. here is your card, the muck out there. that's how it works. for a lot of people, and i emphasize this, medic -- middle-class people, working people, their insurance is a working. unquestionably -- all the folks in suburban areas they want change and a lot of them are motivated by the healthcare issue so something i wrong. i'm trying to offer a full vision. i think it is the truth. it may take time. it may take steps. what i know is the status quo i not working. a really high percentage of americans. >> we will see if the primary

's it teaches tried to do with bill de blasio who, by the way ,ty was the best elbow on the stage. and in the broader sense the msnbc moderators really conduct of the whole conversation withi the confines of a liberal

philosophy. hey, wait a minute, you're supporting abortion rights, wha about late-term abortion rights. what about the private healthcare system. i understand what the candidate want to play to the liberal base , but they didn't do much to push it out of that realm. >> and it is always tricky, especially when you have this many candidates on stage at one time, giving 62nd answers or te seconds and give them a chance to respond tody somebody who's going directly after them. it is a lot to manage and a lot of hot topics tonight. when you're five moderators, it gets even more complicateded. >> and when you have audio problems, that's not good either . have to say that elizabeth warren, who was the only top-tier candidate on that stage , got most of the questions in the first half-hour, she really sort of dominated for on thing. she had a consistent theme vethroughout the evening, takin on corporations, corrupt society , rate the company and all of that. we got to the point where you

may have mentioned this, tulsi gabbard took over her twitter account and that is clear who msnbc wants to become president. and the rare instances for the candidates were taking on each other, nobody took a jab at her so she came out unscathed and i think she has to be considered the winner for this evening. >> it's interesting because cor booker, fellow senator, got a lot of play today, former hud secretary also in the mix. there were a lot of expectation for people like beto o'rourke, that he was the first one to come out of the gate. he took people by surprise for second to adjust to what he was doing. it was an interesting night. i needed subtitles for that one. amy de blasio and beto o'rourke and others -- when your way down in the polls that's what you need and they, didn't get that.
