♪ >> tucker: america's top universities offer students a fast track to wealth, power and status, the point key part of the prestige, supposedly they're merotocratic, only the best get in. a real program would not let chris cuomo get in. his father was the governor. but it wouldn't be based on skin color, but they do it all the time. jd vance joins us. what effect, considering the role universities have in structuring our society, what effect does their corruption have on this country? >> yes, i'll give you three really big problems worth unpacking a little bit. so first, you have the universities which are effectively the gateway to a better life if you come from a lower even middle income background.

that's really a disgusting way to structure society to say that you have to go through through this particular social test, you have to get into these particular colleges if you want a good job or raise a good family. second, even though it's disgusting it is true. given that fact when we live in a world where there are a limited number of admission spots, and if you tell people are you going to give an admission spot to somebody the son of privilege, who happened to be related to a politician from new york, are you telling a middle class kid, lower income kid, don't get that spot, it goes somebody who is a child of privilege. in the third wig thing you are worried about, part of the reasons why our university system is so corrupt and doesn't work well for the broad middle of the country is that it isn't actually represented, it doesn't have the broad middle of the country taking part in the classrooms and public debates. so given how exclusive the institutions are and how important they are in turning out the country's elites we should want them to be broadly representative of the country

good life, yet at the same time we give precious thoughts to people who don't deserve them, it's really just the worst of both possible worlds. we need to build a society where you don't to have go to harvard law school to have a good life. and where even if that's true, those institutions are more pop to people who represent the country, that those institutions dane to govern over. -- deign to goempb over. >> tucker: this conversation matters. jd vance, thank you for your contribution to it. >> thanks, tucker, good night. >> tucker: hard to think of many things more important. it is a scam and people know it and that increases resentment of course as people are unfairly locked out because the system is so corrupt. chris cuomo winds up at yale. tune in every night, 8 p.m., including tomorrow night for the show is that the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness, and group think, dvri if you have
