let's bring in terry tershiy. there were thousands of people police say inside that walmart on this saturday morning when it happened. >> again, it's a day when we're not hearing anybody criticize the police. and i wish we had more days like that. i was particularly interested in hearing that he was taken down peacefully, and not a shot was fired. whenever they use that term without incident, that's what that means. what i would say to people is that's the norm. i think we forget when we throw out all of these things about the police sometimes and it's very easy to use terms police brutal at this anity and systemd that. police have about 53 million stops of people. how many bad stories do we come out of that? today is a day, again, that we don't ever want to see. but the police were heroic and the police worked with the

going to learn something today, from this killer, he is alive and in custody. what do they need to learn? >> they need to learn as much as they can get him to talk. one of the problems i'm concerned as a defense attorney, rob, is that he at some stage, they believe he's a suspect in this, he's going to be close to his constitutional rights. i'm sure the local attorney, the prosecuting attorney in that venue is very careful about how they elicit information from him that they will be able to use later in a trial. >> and ted, let's talk about what police are going to be combing through in the hours and days, maybe even weeks to come. i mean, you are talking about on-line files. you are talking about phone calls, text messages, relationships with people, family, friends. >> absolutely, gillian. what is going on right now is they are combing through the

videotapes, not only in the mall, but also in the parking lot and in the wal-mart, and they are trying to determine, number one, if there are any accomplices, or was he working with anybody initially? they are going back not only to the day videotapes but going to go back and see if he cased the place, had he been there before, where did he get the gun, when did he buy it, who did he buy it from, under what circumstances did he buy it. they are also trying to determine -- a lot of times i found that these individuals who carry out these acts will put out some kind of a manifesto, so they are checking to see if he already has some writings out there on some social media site, as to whether he's put out a manifesto and also definitely combing his automobile to try to find out what, if anything, they can find out from there. >> 21 years old, the suspect is. do you believe that there are going to be people within his circle, friends or family that

might have been able to predict that something like this was going to happen? >> i can just about 100% tell you that there are individuals who perhaps will say that this man was acting somewhat strange and that he did certain things that they predicted that he may very well have carried out some kind of an act like this. they very well may not know directly that he was going to go into that wal-mart and do what he did today. one of the things i'm significantly concerned about are copy cats. when these kinds of horrific events take place, these soft target events, it lights up a lightbulb in people who are mentally ill to do these kind of acts elsewhere, so this is very concerning to me. >> ted, you know, we're at the point now where people are kind of tired of hearing the same thing over and over again and questioning how do we stop this? but at this point in time, we still don't know how to get a

his possession and started firing near the entrance of wal-mart and then moved inside of the store. we do not at this point have an. we do know that there are more than a dozen peo and i believe 24 were rushed to the hospital where one died. >> that's right. the update from two of the medical centers in that area. this is about an hour ago, the del sol medical center, had 11 victims, nine critical but two stable, ages of the victims 35 to 82. at el paso medical center, 13 victims they received, one died from their injuries, the age ranges there are 2 to senior. when police gave an update about half hour ago, it was shocking when you heard police say that at that time on saturday morning, a sunny saturday in el paso, you had between 1 and 3,000 people inside the wal-mart, 100 employees, people doing their back to school shopping, shopping for the week, heart breaking. >> that store is probably about
