tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  August 26, 2019 11:00pm-12:00am PDT

11:00 pm
and i have other words i do uset want to hear about that crap. the guy you are talking about, his wife donated $1.3 trillion to charity. until you do that, keep your big mouth shut. laura ingraham, how are you? >> laura: you know, bill maher, i've known him over the years,in the day, and what i understand is he's a libertarian. he's all for drug legalization, but the koch brothers were libertarians. >> they spent a billion three in donations.he doesn't like his p. >> laura: it's tainted money because they supported george w. bush. they aren't even for trump, so you know, hannity,re it remindse of what you and i have talked about so many times. the left always likes us to believe that they've cornered the market on compassion and
11:01 pm
caring, but individual people they don't like so much. big groups of people, they are for the children. individual, no. so it's kind of a charade. >> sean: i have got better things to do tomorrow and the next day, or i would just really unload on him. but i don't feel like dealing dwith the fallout. >> laura: it's too negative. north worth it. >> sean: i will have myow produr send it to you. >> laura: great to see you and great show tonight. i'm laura ingraham and this is "the ingraham angle" from washington. raymond arroyo brings you an exclusive report, the la homeless crisis is now spreading to some of the most exclusive neighborhoods in los angeles. now what he discovered, i didn't know anything about this, is going to shock you. it's called beachfront homelessness. he has a report later in the
11:02 pm
hour. also tonight, a conservative group decides to fight back against media that has been beyond dishonest and biased, and now it seems like the media doesn't like getting a taste of its own medicine. we will explain that. but "new york times," "washington post" and cnn are spooked tonight. and a left list reverend told dnc that if you reject socialism, you are rejecting the bible. that's a neat trick. so what does ralph reed think about all that? he's here to tell us. but, first, media, not trump, fumbled the g7.ha that's the focus of tonight's angle. watching the american media coverage of the g7, i can't help but think they can't go any lower or be a more uninformed or more dishonest. >> what, if anything, do you think the president accomplished at the g7 summit? >> t it's not clear anything.isd
11:03 pm
stage, the president wasn't leading at this g7 summit but he was misleading. >> with more of a g6 plus one. >> laura: brilliant analysis. the indisputable fact is that america under president trump has anab economy that is the eny of the world.they would kill fos wewe have. yet, as if on cue, the press finds a way to frame things in the worst possible light against trump. but, here is what you need to know. number one, china is coming back to the trade negotiating table, that's all because of trump's tariff. o number two, the white house and japan are negotiating a new trade deal on agriculture and beef. it will be great for american farmers. number three, the u.k. wants a trade deal. they will have to wait until after the brexit deal is settled to getav it. number f the e.u. is facing
11:04 pm
huge political and economic problems. and, number five, we have the strongest economy bar none in the g7. yet, peter baker, a pundit masqueradingng as a journalist s at the new york times is so desperate that he measured the meeting success on the number of words in the final statement that came out for the g7. quote, with all the differences with trump, they largely had a statement that added up to 264 words.the last joint statement r obama in 2016 was 14,263 words. international bureaucrats, they talk a lot and write a lot a lot, meaningless blather. and that was back in 2016 of course when the u.s. economy was limping along and china was eating our lunch. do you want that or do you want
11:05 pm
a short g7 statement as weenjoy, especially compared to the french, the german and the british. my friends, this is an easy call. the fact that major european countries are in the economic turmoil, it's not our fault. it's theirs. they staked theirt' futures on a european union that was flawed from the inception. they were over regulating their businesses and overtaxing their people, and they allowed in more than a million refugees of very different backgrounds and very different values. and yet the media somehow think trump should follow their lead? i don't think so. trump had the guts to do a serious review and revision of previous administration. i'm talking both parties.their y with china.
11:06 pm
> china has taken a very hard hit over the last number of months. they've lost 3 million jobs.it 3 million jobs. the chain is breaking like nobody has seen before and once that happens it's very hard to put it back together, you understand. i think they very much want to make a deal, and the longer they wait, the harder it is to put it hback. if it can be put back at all. >>ca laura: the president is being very crafty here.the mediy credit. and very pragmatic. he still willing to work a deal with the chinese, yet he is not going to agree to anything if it returns the united states to the status quo before he came into office where i china just cheatd rampantly and they got stronger expense yearat our after year after year. he's not going to agree to thatf every story, cnn, msnbc, et cetera, are essentially taking the word of this oppressive communist government over that
11:07 pm
of their own country's president. they have even gone too far for cnbc's jim cramer. >> i think you have to take him seriously because he can walkba. you could have the chinese officially denying it, the chinese haven't necessarily been square and honest. suddenly we believe the chinese are honest.i'm not going there. >> so many people would rather take the word of the chinese communist party. >> i'm really aghast that we trust the prc more than we trust the white house. >> laura: i love joe kernan. he was making a point with a laugh there but it's a serious one. never forget what you think about trump style or tweets whatever it is. look at the results. we have yellow vest protests in france, we have the ongoing brexit drama, we have italy's government in complete chaos meltdown. germany headed or are already in a recession.
11:08 pm
my friend, europe is in chaos and yet the e.u.'s attempt at managing democratic socialism, we see it has failed miserably. now remember that obama, the darling of the media elites, he, he tried his best to push aa tropean style agenda here in the united states and that worked out so well that he ended up turning over the white house to donald trump.people didn't wf it. the democrats and they aredoublm in 2020, and they're really marketing this madness to our youth.they will do to america we eu has done europe. zero growth, a destroyed and demoralized middle-class. and, yet, somehow the media will again miss the real story. and that's the angle. here now to help us make sense of the overwrought shrinking we have heard from the media over
11:09 pm
just the last 72 hours is michaelm antone. he was a trump administration former deputy national security advisorrs for strategic communications. now, michael, you said trump's approach was right because he's dealing with weak leaders in the g7. explain. >> here's something you don't hear from the coverage.there is, called the g7. four of them are lame-ducks. and mccrone probably won't runae middle teens and he's been facing the yellow vests since last fall. and trudeau, who faced a bunch of scandal in canada, who knows what is next for him. and if you are brand new, it's hard to find your footing.it is. so president trump and prime minister are the two strongest leaders there by far.t
11:10 pm
they're apart. but, in fact, the trump administration get tough standss on china and japan loves that.t. and there are some long-standing trade disputes with iran.they'r. and they don't tell you that the president, you don't accomplish anything there.how do you walk h seven leader when four are essentially dead men walking. >>he they want us to be more lie europe. i keep saying this. i'm watching these people on television today and thinking sun breaks ever read anything? have you seen what happened over the last 15-years in rope? it is like they hate trump so much, they can't see the hand in front of their own face that should be slapping them and say, wake up. >> they miss or deliberately don't tell but it. there are signs of life in europe. the yellow vests are signs of rich. >> they're fed up. >> it could be a trump-like
11:11 pm
populist figure that could reinvigorate the economy. italy could get a new prime minister and it could be matteo salvini who's a trump like populace figure that could reinvigorate that economy. and they want to paint this as dismal as possible, as much as possible. >> but it is not working. i try to take -- i don't likehi. what are the results? what are the results of trump?io high, but what are the result trump and what are the results of europe? >> right now the biggest success is the completely new approach with china. at this point, that's irreversible.the president, i dt this tot happen, but even if he lost in 2020, we're not going back to our old relationship with china.where t. >> laura: i called josh bolton of the bush administration is a nice guy but he's over there with the
11:12 pm
business roundtable and they are all against the trade push.from. they are all against it they want to go back to the old days when they made a lot of money and the big business made a lot of money and the regular people got shafted. we're never going there, under a public or democrat. i want to play this, he's a former obama official who is now an anchor at cnn. he has this to say today. >> the primary national security and foreign policy challenges facing the u.s. and europe today, there is a very public disagreement. the iran nuclear deal front and center but also russia's readmission to g7, open disagreement on that.the china e change, no agreement and very public disagreement and this is president trump's third g7 summit. on each of those issues the lipresident has not moved his allies one iota.
11:13 pm
>> laura: so that's the sign of a failed u.s. president they say? >> you have to expect disagreements between countries that see things differently. there's a real disagreement on climate change. i happen to think we're right about that and the europeans are wrong about that. we are closer than iran than this commentator is making out. >> a reporter, not anchor. >> i read some commentary todayt that macron tried to spring -- nobody mentions that trump has said all along i will meet with the iranians if they want to talk. if there was a deal to be had we will take it. >> laura: i will say this again. i think trump is a moderate on china trade. when the dalai lama comes back and stop oppressing the muslims then we will talk. but i think trump is a pragmatist and a moderate on trade. >> trump seems radical on trade because the past 30-years has
11:14 pm
been give china everything they want. >> anything they want. >> what the chinese are talking about is the round table to put pressure on the white house, this is terrible for business, back down, every prior president has given in. it is not happening now and they tonight in what to do. >> laura: and our market is still strong and we have no inflation. thank you for being here. you aree the perfect person to have been here tonight. also tonight joe biden is in trouble. the former front runner, and now elizabeth warren andbernie sande socialism, in a new poll that just came out from monmouth, he's dropped 13 points in two months. now we've been telling you now for weeks if not longer that biden's lead was only temporary. now the news that relates to my angle is, if trump returns froms are suffering from the love of
11:15 pm
socialism, democrat voters are dead set on embracing those very same programs and policies that are tanking europe, courtesy now of warren and sanders.the threes are being served to you as fresh food. now here and now is project 21 lawrence cooper and luis miranda.former communications ds for the dnc. why are the democrats rushing to embrace the socialist model that is clearly crashing and burning before our very eyes in europe? >> iur don't think that is thec. >> europe is doing well? wait a second, europe is doing well? >> i think you have a veryimporn is doing well, and polls are showing him some voters he lost after the first debate. it is too close to tell i think it lab primary process that leaves with us with a strong candidate regardless of the
11:16 pm
outcome. >> you're saying thatism isn't becoming -- you're saying that socialism isn't becoming more popular in your party? >> you know all the polls are showing socialism. we can say two plus two is five but i can actually tell you what these polls are saying. horace, i wish it weren't so,i y from the 90s, you could actually work with the republicans and not call them white supremacists, i remember that. what i want to tell you now is they are actually embracing socialism as we see it taking europe. >> one is socialism is on the rise with progressives and the democrats and vice president joe biden is in the middle of ae meltdown. when you stand up and you issue a statement that you haven't lost your mind, it's a little bit reminiscent of back in the 70s when "the new york times" wrote a story on the ten dumbesl
11:17 pm
scott held a press conference to announce i'm not that dumb. it's not a sign of a successful campaign not the sign of a winner and this is a problem because the socialist are going to rush past the old, tired joe biden that can't seem to figure outwhat ste is. >> on the campaign trail that is fine. if you want to do a contest of crazy things said on the campaign trail, donald trump takes the cake. he said bring russia back in, and disregard the fact that they've threatened europe and -- >> we're moving on to domestic politics but we can talk about that for an hour. biden didn't know where he was this weekend, he had trouble a times not knowing exactly where he is, he travels a lot so it is easy to get mixed up, not the end of the world, but he's done that kinda of a lot.
11:18 pm
could his gaffes, which the voters may have found endearing when he was vice president, catching up with him nowism want to play this for people after he got confused about where he was speaking. >> i just spoke at dartmouth on health care, at the medical school. or i guess it wasn't actually on campus but people from the medical school. i want to be o clear, i'm not going nuts and i'm not sureca whether it was medical school or where the hell i spoke but it was on the campus. >> laura: i kind of like biden, i have to say. >> i'm not a spokesman for him but he was clearly correcting it because he knew he would be called out for saying that.he tn is fine. when you compare to some of the things that donald trump was saying including suggesting that he was going to buy greenland including suggesting that russig a part of ukraine --
11:19 pm
>> he's not rewarded. you keep going back to policy. thank you both for being here. short segment but it was great. still aheadd are owned raymond arroyoyo hit the once glamorous streets of malibu.a ct moments away. and a conservator group is targeting by a spike concerning the media with tactics. as is the right thing to do?it - spooked, i should say. i'm now turning into joe biden. that's next.

11:23 pm
will also extend to journalist families but the paper can't confirm how significant these embarrassing claims might be. and it acknowledges that some of this might be exaggeration aimed at intimidating news outlets.the times says the opers already outed one of its journalists for posting and tie semitic and racist posts a decade ago. outraged at the findings saying the times investigation finds clear abandonment of democracy. but then network engaged in similar behavior back in 2017 when a cnn reporter tracked down the creator of this edited video showing trump beating cnn in a wrestling ring after the man apologized and promised not to do it again, cnn agreed not to identify him but adding this, quote, cnn reserves the right to identify himif any of that chan.
11:24 pm
the paper itself recently published an op-ed encouraging immigration lawyers and journalists to publish names photos and videos of the i.c.e. agents involved in separation of children from their families at the border. as a former trump aide said, quote, two can play at this game. >> laura: a taste of their own medicine. did you contact the white house about this? what did they say? >> not at this time, but we did get a statement that said neither the president nor the white house was aware of this operation. >> laura: thanks so much tonight. here now is charlie kirk. president and founder, charlie the media folks can really dish it out. i always think of my mother saying you can dish it out but you can't take it. i mean, they think they should be able to say anything or do anything, be biased, smear
11:25 pm
people, it's white supremacist. and yet their motive, their own political background, should never be able to be called into question. or am i overstating this?po >> you are spot on."the new yors misrepresenting this completely. they are using the word doxxing. there was no private information made public. what was done here is somebody went to twitter advanced search typed in tweets of a "new york times" editor and found he said things such as "happy jew year."can you imaginn would have said that? if a conservative would have said that? then "the new york times" releases this bizarre memo that they sent to their staff and said will not take these attacks in a free press. just because you are a journalist doesn't mean you get a "get out of bigotry jail free" card.inesesit doesn't mean you'd accountable. if you work
11:26 pm
with "new york times" you are somehow allowed to be perfectly absolved from whatever was said and the same people that doxxed the covington kids and said that it mattered what brett kavanaugh did 35 years ago in high schoolb if they want to play by theseth rules of engagement, it's a new day and holding the political economists accountable. >> laura: basically anyone who agrees with trump's burning crosses on lawns. they throw around that race word pretty casually and i think it's getting tedious and poisonous people were coming up to mewarrs happening in this country. i want to play for you to most absurd moments in the media over the weekend. here's cnn brian stelter engaging in some rank speculation that he would no to doubt condemn if we were ever
11:27 pm
ato suggested, about a democra. watch. >> when you watch a broadcast nightly news cast, how often do you hear about just how far off the road trump is? not often enough.it's lot harder concerns about the president's well-being because it is really a series of questions that no one is able to answer. is there a method to the madness or is there something wrong? is he suffering some sort of illness? >> laura: if that wasn't enough, cnn's resident mediahals unhinged doctor on the show to offer the following. >> while trump is crazy for hiding the fact that we -- even crazier for allowing his crazy policies to persist. trump is as destructive of apere
11:28 pm
responsible for. >> he somehow allowed to be immune from any criticism of what his past tweets are? and i don't get that. >> first thing is first. i don't like comparisons to hitler and stalin, specificallyy dangerous comparisons and we should avoid those whenever possible be, so i don't agree with that. however, there is the issue here ofre brian stelter, i don't believe he was operating in a journalist cut capacity.he was n host in that case. so we say something in our pin, and not supported by facts and, there was a psychiatrist they're making that assertion.going bacs saying, if there is a coordinated campaign between politicians targeting journalists and journalists are not following the code of ethics, we do have to worry about the first amendment and free speech.
11:29 pm
i defend your right, laura, tocd you believe. journalists have to be careful that when they are operating in a journalist capacity that they are following their code of ethics, and if they're not, the editors and publicists could hold them to account. >> laura: charlie, does thatmeae because they disagree with them, and i think there is a wig disparity here. we have anchors at cnn that could get away with conduct if any of us engaged in would never work again, or alleged misconduct, or even the allegation you would never work again. the shoe is on the other food, i'm sick of the double standard. it is a double standard, it is absurd. >> so this is a network that has
11:30 pm
a fleet of journalists that donald trump has talked to in the last 40 years. now they're offended that as simple as typing in the past tweets of one of their editors? we are supposed to feel sorry for "the new york times." this is an attack on the free press. no, no, people were simply looking into twitter to find past racist statements that were said.second is this: there used to be something called the gold water rule. and that means people in the psychiatric community that they would never make a judgment on someone's mental judgment in the public sphere.st against t that. now all of a sudden they have thrown that out the window because that's how much they hate president trump.it is rep . >> laura: charlie ethan thank you so much. ralph reed is here to respond te
11:31 pm
promotes socialism. and, beach front homelessness. that is how bad it's getting out there.we'll be right back
11:32 pm
11:33 pm
>> laura: here's tonight's warped, did you know, courtesy of the democrat party. did you know that socialism is one of the bedrock principles of the bible? well, here is frequent msnbc and reverend william barber at the dnc summer meeting msnbc contributor that is. >> if someone calls it socialism
11:34 pm
then we must prepare them to acknowledge that the bible must promote socialism because jesus free health care to everyone and never charged a leper a co-pay. it's time for us to say, if you want to have a moral debate, bring it on, baby >> laura: ralph reda, chairman of the faith and freedom coalition takes that challenge.. is it dangerous interpret the bible this way about helping each other and pitting your neighbor first, and that does mean big government, doesn't it? now the pete buttigieg and reverend barber, they are all pushing this christian messagethat realr government. >> you know, they are sort of emerging from the shock and the awe and the fog, laura, of 2016 where they lost the
11:35 pm
evangelical vote by 65 points. they lost some of the catholic vote by ten points. they kind of belatedly realized that if their party kicks the voters of faith in the teeth and calls them irredeemable and essentially says they are deplorables, that those people might not be drawn to them. so now, they are struggling for this religious language and this religious connections and what we get is this portrayal of jesus christ of the birkenstock wearing socialist, and we'retols communist manifesto. i don't think this will sell in the heartland because the good news is christians in america know their bible.and they know e teaches that he who does not work, shall not eat. it talks about the importance of work and the importance of being productive, and it teaches the
11:36 pm
principle prince -- principle of subsidiarity which, yes, we are called to care for the poor and the needy and the alien and the stranger. that call as to the faithful. it calls to those closest to the need to meet that need, not big government or bureaucrats in washington. >> laura: mayor pete, like i mentioned, he is making his own concerted effort to win over the evangelicals. the catholic vote, i think it's has gotten a little bit wobbly since 2016, frankly. and he told the ap this. he said, my goal is for people of faith who believe it there is some implication of how it participates in politics to be aware that they have choices. i want people to know that when i say i'm guided by some of these ideas, it's not something i seek to impose on someone else. that's part of my formation,
11:37 pm
part of how i come at the world. it sounds like a bad homily from a liberal priest that came up through the 60s and 70s. i love my church but i've sat through some bad homilies. >> that sound being a little loosey-goosy to me. ralph, your thoughts on that? >> i'm still waiting on one of the is whether it's reverend barber or mayor pete to give us the scripture that justifies late-term abortion and infanticide. >> he said "some." >> yeah, some ideas. so here is what i think people are hungering forleaders who caa connection between their faith and values and public policy. they're not looking for somebody toard that christianity is a partisan faith or represents one side or the other. but, when it comes to the sanctity of life and religious freedom and support for israel and the protection of the least among us and speaking out for the poor and meeting their needs, it is a question of what
11:38 pm
is most effective, what's most efficacious and what's closest to those in need of. and big government will be the last one to do that. >> we have seen the way it's done. >> with the rise and socialism is also the rise in american value is changing. >> >> in venezuela, we've seen what socialism does. >> yes. thank you. with the rise and socialism is also the rise in american value is changing. they reveal that younger generations would have different priorities nearly two decades ago. patriotism has dropped to 61% from 70% in 1998 among those under the age of 50. religion 50%, down from 62%.andg statistic, the importance of having children is down to just 43%.fr.
11:39 pm
-- from 59%. our next guest is someone who still ranks all three of those things very highly and is just weeks away from giving birth to her ninth child. joining us now rachel campos duffy.fox news contributor. we talked about what's happening in your family and sean's decision to retire in just a moment. but what is causing this decline in our values, our outlook, our moral compass? >> it's interesting because "the wall street journal" that covers this poll interviewed women in their 60s. they said, the truth is, we pass our values onto our kids and too many kids are very passive about it. they are outsourcing it to teachers, to schools, tohollywod sports stars. and, if you do that, they are
11:40 pm
not going to pass on if you indeed value patriotism, faith and religion, family and children. i think what happens is a lot of parents underestimate just how much influence they have over their children and that goes for grandparents, too. they really underestimate their influence. so i say you have to use the dinner table, the car. watch movies with your kids. so you can interject your own values. you would be surprised how much influence and impact you actually do have. these things are not, as ronald reagan said, passed through the bloodstream.they ever to be tau, and we are not leading by example. if you want your kids to valuers family. >> put down your phone. >> i'm guilty of that too. >> i'm very dillty of it. how are you doing, how sean do? we are all going to miss him in congress. how is everything and how are you doing? we've been reading and hearing
11:41 pm
about your -- >> sure. we are all doing really good. it's just -- you want to put your family first.i am really po do this. he is i have popular here in wisconsin. based on what we have coming up with this baby, and our bandwidth is pretty tight anyway, and kong a pretty demanding job, he is going to take a pause now and take care of family stuff and we will see what happens and what god in store for us next. fun why you, put a tweet out today, i'm not dead there are so many great responses but he feels like it is his funeral. it is not, it is a wonderful thing, it is exciting and we will see what god has in store after we take care of this little girl that is going to come into our lives in late october. >> you and sean are irspirations and -- inspirations and we thank you for you and your family and
11:42 pm
thank you for your witness, we really appreciate it. >> thank you, laura. coming up, the pacific coast highway. it's one of the most beautiful stretches in the united states some of the most expensive real estate.what happens when ll leaders allow it to become a homeless encampment. raymond arroyo hit the road and takes us exclusively to malibu. a u won't believe what he found next.
11:43 pm
11:44 pm
11:45 pm
>> laura: we have a new series for you that's launching this week called arroyo on the road. hes will be hitting different parts of the country and will reveal them every day. this first stop tonight, a real, malibu, as in california. this l.a. homeless crisis is spreading even to your exclusive enclave. what did you find? >> well, laura, the homelessness in l.a. is no longer confined to skid row or underpasses.now the homelesso some of the most sought-after enclaves and communities in the city. you might call it beach front homelessness. homelessness in l.a. has become a true epidemic in the milast seven years. there's been an 80% increaseev f homelessness on the streets. and among those 18-24, a 24% increase. that's 59,000 people on the streets every night looking for shelter.
11:46 pm
it's a tragic scene near residentialch areas and business in venice beach. the drug addicted, out of work or mentally ill have created roving encampments on the sidewalk. feces fills a bucket near this grocery parking lot. human waste is splattered on a nearby wall. the homeless collect urine in jars kepthe in their tents or makeshift shelters. and here in malibu, homelessness has increased 413%. now a lot of that issn attributable to people living in rv's and campers and trailers. buses along the pacific coast highway. in 2018, 11 people live like this. today, it's approaching 100. most of these long term campers didn't to speak with us. how long have you been here?
11:47 pm
>> i can't say, man. i got to go guys. i'm sorry, i'm late.i got to tao pasadena. >> oscar, a millennial living in an rv among the pacific coast highway was willing to talk. how long have you lived along the coast? >> i've lived here for about --, on and off to be honest since july of 2017. >> so a couple of years. >> two-years. >> i use the one across the street. >> are you working? >> i had one but now i'm just going back to learning, so i'm doing some studying right now and just being -- i guess it's self-discovery. >> self-discovery. what's the biggest challenge living out here in an rv? >> i would say the complaints.s, actually, i haven't had any complaints for a while so it's nice.
11:48 pm
it's on and off.it really depen. it's been about two months since the police came by so it's pretty nice. and there is no signs posted so they can't do anything about it. i did get food stamps yesterday because my business went under a little bit, you know, and then i've been using my mom's money and i didn't want to do that any more, so i'm using the government help right now. this is our kitchen and i remodeled this myself now. this wood. it used to be this ugly -- but, you know, it's pretty good. >> you've got the best view. this is beach front property. >> that's true. you don't need money to be happy.
